Another official duel! Sere walked towards the piste with light steps. This was because she was once again teamed up with two of her most familiar duel partners: Siobhan and Theo. Thanks to both of them, duelling piste felt pretty much like home. "Feels like writing another chapter for our dynamic." That's what Sere said as she met the two in the locker room.

Their opponent this time was once again Viridian Viper: The one who they had faced on the piste during the last Winter Games this time paired with two other students that she had never interacted with before. Sere took a deep breath, hoping for the best result for this match as well. She raised her wand, "Alright, let's write down another victory in this chapter."

Pyxis didn’t realize how much his first duel loss would affect him. He was in the dumps for days following his stage two match and found it hard to do much of anything other than drill the spells he already knew against the metal dummies in the club room. By the time the final stage rolled around, his spark had somewhat returned as sufficient goings-on were enough to distract him. Unfortunately, it was promptly snuffed out when he received his match assignments. Seeing the names of his classmates that had taken him and his team out was enough to send his stomach into a tumble, and he wasn’t fully recovered when he walked up to the piste at the start of the duel. Well, at least I’m back with Draven. He took his position and nodded in greeting to Draven and Matthew while internally yelling at his nausea to settle down.

Anything but seniors, anything but seniors, anything but seniors. The rhythmic rhetoric bounced around his brain like a nervous gnat of energy cascading echoes in his skull, causing Matthew to grip at his head for a semblance of peace that would never come. Awkwardly shying from the eyes of his viper teammates he wrapped himself in a solid embrace of invisibility. Since Spring break Matthew had decided he wanted nothing more than to disappear into obscurity, becoming as insignificant as his first year self. A footnote in the story of his own life and he was certainly making good on it.

Or he would have been. Yet the moment his eyes fell on the trio in front of him, he was barely offered a momentary breath of relieving air before his entire expression dwindled and shrunk further. His wish was granted, they were certainly not seniors but the boy had failed to learn the duality of wishes. The impact of cause and effect, and now it was staring him straight in the face. Instantly snatched of breath and scarlet with blush Matthew's hurting eyes fell upon the familiar face of Siobhan.

It was such a clear move, obvious if anything, really he thought better of the writers orchestrating his fate. I mean something so blatantly shitty was a little poignant for them, lacked tact - not that they had any in the first place. Still the result was a catastrophic blow to any confidence he had managed to summon. Winning was all he wanted after the previous duels decimation but now faced against a friendship he had already fumbled Matthew was sure of one and only one thing.

Regardless of the outcome today, there would be no winning.

Theodore let anger get the better of him and was close to kicking off and complaining when he heard they were up against a third year. Realistically, there was nothing he could do, but it didn’t stop the teenager from blowing a fuse in the locker room as they strategized. His mood drastically improved once he discovered he would once again be duelling alongside Siobhan and Sere marking their third duel in a row and to Theo this meant an easy third victory. Once was luck, twice proved they were a good team. Three times would make them legendary.

When Theo strolled out onto the arena, he managed to leave his cocky self back at the changing rooms. He bowed graciously and took his position ready to cast spells. For once in his life, not saying a word to tease or antagonise the other team. He was so confident, he didn’t think it was necessary.

Afternoon slot

The duelists got right to the point after Aston announced the start of the duel, quickly sending spells towards one another, save for one Gryffindor duelist who just watched the movements of the other team attentively for any spells coming his way, an effort that will be rewarded. As the only third year in the duel, Draven, casts Obscuro aimed at both him and Siobhan, Theo just managed to dodge it, avoiding the fate of getting blindfolded, but the others wouldn't be so lucky. Siobhan who also managed to dodged the older boy's spell, casts her own at Matthew Campbell, a good attempt, but it wasn't enough to hit and blindfold him. Obscuro really was a popular spell in this round of the duel, the final Gryffindor duelist Sere Nade also choose to cast it, aiming at Draven Mirador, this time it was a success, blindfolding the Slytherin duelist. Unfortunately for the Slytherins, that would be the last successful spell we see this round. Both Pyxis and Matthew try to cast Flipendo at Sere, and both of them would suffer the same fate of have their spell fail and blow up in their face instead. The Gryffindors were certainly the luckier ones this round, having come out unscathed, wonder if this luck would continue.

The first round started and Sere could see the Vipers tried to release three-- oh no, four spells! Two failed and one of them seemed to be able to spread his spells. This was Sere's first time facing a duellist with that ability. That one won't be easy. The lioness' gaze focused on the duellist named Draven and cast the same spell as her opponent had cast on her two teammates, "Obscuro!" It hit the target. Great. Now she had to look at the bigger picture and decide what she had to do next.

She covered her mouth as she watched, what little she could see, of Matthew's spell backfiring and causing him to wipe himself out. She felt worse for having sent an Obscuro his way even if it hadn't landed. She couldn't see him very well but she knew from his demeanor towards her as of late, that anything that had to deal with their strenouous friendship only made him seem to disappear farther into his shell away from her.

She looked down at her shoes and grit her teeth- it was all the fault of that stupid potion. That stupid stupid potion.
