Tanya stepped into the pub, feeling as though the whole thing was some complicated hoax. Was she even allowed in bars? Glancing at Anja, who looked tremendously confused, she led the way through the crowd. She walked past the various customers and sat down at the bar, trying to avoid eye contact any way possible. Lord, what was she going to do if it turned out to be fake? It would be tremendously cruel for that to be the truth. "Anja, können wir etwas zu trinken?"

"Nein, Ich mag die tassen nicht. Sie sind schmutzig." Anja said, looking over the cups, which were smudged. "Anton werde bald hier sein. Tanya, wie gehts?"

Tanya looked at her soon-to-be adoptive mother, resigned. Did she have to? Yes, she supposed she did have to. After all, it isn't often she finds people she gets along with. "Ich bin okay, so so."

Anja looked her over for a few seconds, and Tanya could tell that she was concerned. She could presume that Anja had seen the bags under her eyes, the way she'd passed out on their way here. She could tell that Tanya hadn't slept that night. Which was partly due to that person, Caradoc Browne, if that was even his real name. Every time she'd started to fall asleep, she'd found herself turning the lights back on and pulling out that letter. She must have read it fifty times the night before.

But after a few seconds, Anja nodded and turned away. Tanya jumped from surprise when she felt Anja's hand on her shoulder, squeezing it tightly before letting go and returning to the bar.

Grumbling, she waved away the barkeep and rested her chin in her hand, waiting. Glancing at her watch, she realized that she was early, and cursed herself in her head. Naturally she'd get all excited and leave early, then get annoyed and worried when she got here and that man wasn't there. She tried to ignore the glances that Anja was shooting her. She pulled her beanie down over her ears again, annoyed once more that it keeps riding up her head. Well, today she was just filled with annoyance. Perhaps it was because of how tired she was.

Getting up, she hefted her bag up and walked to the bathroom, where she splashed surprisingly icy water onto her face in an effort to snap out of it. No matter what, she didn't want the professor to decide not to bring her to the school he told her about. If it was real. She still wasn't sure about him. To be honest, she wasn't sure if she should even be here, what if he was totally insane and just here to lure her out of the group home so he could go and murder her? She hadn't even left a note behind explaining where she was. They might never find her again because she was actually just dumped in a field somewhere.

Well, that was why she had Anja here, she told herself. And while she didn't like the idea of someone hovering over her all the time, she had to admit that she was useful in this situation. She didn't really know if she'd be able to do this by herself. First she'd have to get to London, which was an hour long bus ride at the minimum. Then she'd have to somehow have to deal with all of this. School shopping. It felt ridiculous. Magic school.

Despite her growing anxiety about the whole situation, she forced herself out of the bathroom and walked back to the bar, clutching her bag closer to her in an effort to comfort herself. The door swung open and Anton walked in, the giant man smiling at the two of them. His blond hair was ruffled up, as if he'd been running his fingers through it. The beret that he hated was hanging from his belt, and his uniform was as clean and precise as always. He sat down next to Tanya and wrapped his gigantic arm over her shoulders. At 6'2'', he towered over her. She felt like his hand was bigger than her face.

She grumbled, shifting about in her seat. Anton and Anja were talking over her head. She had only really realized when they got to London how tall the pair was. Anja was 5'7'', and Anton was 6'2''. They were both giants. She barely reached Anja's shoulders at 4'7''. Anton pulled her in for a hug. He was the kind of guy that was always smiling, and always finding ways to try to help. It was disgusting. It drained her energy just thinking about being so energetic all the time. However, she had to admit that he was funny. She tolerated him.

Detaching herself from his hug, she glared up at him. Gigantic blue eyes stared back at her steadily. She gave up and turned her attention back to the bar. Tanya could almost feel the two of them exchanging glances and talking to each other silently. It was almost time for that man to come, and she wasn't sure if she was prepared for whatever was going to happen when he did arrive.

It would be tremendously cruel for that to be the truth. "Anja, can we have something to drink?"

"No, I don't like those cups. They're filthy." Anja said, looking over the cups, which were smudged. "Anton will be here soon. Tanya, how are you feeling?"

Tanya looked at her soon-to-be adoptive mother, resigned. Did she have to? Yes, she supposed she did have to. After all, it isn't often she finds people she gets along with. But hey, that doesn't mean she has to like it. "I'm okay, so so."

Though the rain had seemingly decided to take a short break right when Caradoc arrived by the tavern's door. It had not stopped the man from blessing the fact he brought an umbrella with him today. London always had been dreadful in accounts of weather. While the man usually could not be bothered to consult any kind of weather report, it was not surprising to find him prepared for any situation. Old habits never did die easily it seemed.

He shook the multitude of drops from his umbrella as he made his entrance to the Leaky Cauldron. Adjusting his coat's collar a little to allow the room's warmth to hit him, his eyes traversed the room. A pair of clear blue crystals searching for a family in the crowded mess inside. A familiar grouchy child with her clueless adoptive parents. The beanie concealed much, but not enough. Recognition led the almost middle-aged professor towards the Schmidts.

His messy blond hair got stuck in place by the wet weather, in a rather chaotic fashion. It would add to the unshaven stubble that could be seen resting on his face. A large and strong looking hand revealed itself as he approached. "Good day! I am glad to see you've all found this lovely establishment. I sure hope your journey's been somewhat spared from trouble?"

Smalltalk was often important to parents. Doc always guessed it was a way of keeping their nerves in check. A touch of normalcy for anyone unfamiliar with what was about to happen to their child. He figured it was what his parents must have felt like when they first brought him here. Now in a rather beautiful circular way of life, it was his task in guiding the next young wizards and witches towards their destiny.

A smile cracked open his face as his eyes glittered in joy. He had not yet turned his attention towards the future student of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. He wondered what the young girl would turn out to be. Today was an opportunity to get a sense of that. Eventually he did turn his head towards her. His focused eyes locking with hers, as he looked down upoin the child. "And you, Tanya? Ready to take the next step in becoming a witch?"

He did not wait for a response from any of them, as he was here to show them in. Expose them to a most powerful magic: Wonder. He walked past the family and stopped by a door which he knew would lead outside, out back. He turned around and quietly waved Tanya over, asking her to follow him. He ignored the looks he got from several interested mages on the sidelines as he shouted across the room, trying to pierce the loud murmurs of conversation. "There's only one way to find wonderland, lass" He winked as he smiled broadly. This feeling never got old to him.

OOC: Sorry for the delay, as well as the short length! Life got a little crazy! Once I settle down I'll be able to spend more time writing. Thank you for understanding! <3
Tanya looked up when she heard the door swing open behind her. It was that man, back turned to them as he shook rain off his umbrella. Anxiety pricked her stomach as she watched him, turning away before he could see her and staring at the bar. She waited until her parents, chatting above her, noticed him before looking back up. The man spoke, and she watched him chat with them for a few moments before his attention turned to her. She looked at him, still skeptical, before nodding slowly. She stood, glancing at the giant beside her, whose eyes were shining, as usual. Gross.

Anja placed a hand on Tanya's shoulder, squeezing it tightly before letting go. Tanya wrapped her arms around herself in a feeble effort to still her anxious thoughts before she followed the man outside. The rain had stopped, for which she was grateful. Sunlight peeked out from behind the clouds, a rare sight. She stopped briefly to admire the sight before turning back to look at the man's back. He turned to her, a cheeky grin on his face. She felt her curiosity soar as he spoke, but could barely refrain from rolling her eyes at the statement. "I hope it lives up to the hype." She said softly, the young girl watching his every move with sharp eyes.

Caradoc chuckled to himself at the girl's remark. "Lets find out shall we..." With one smooth flick of his hand he produced a wand from his coat. The long narrow stick balancing between his thumb and middle finger. He tapped a few bricks, seemingly in random order, though it resembled a circular movement. As soon as he tapped the final stone, they all began to shift until finally a doorway revealed itself.
"Miss Schmidt... welcome... to Diagon Alley."

Despite the previously ghastly weather there was still quite a crowd in the streets. Most likely because of the fact that schooltime was due. Wizards and witches rushing to get their final affairs settled for their child. Especially the people who'd have to take their kid for the first time would be the most nervous looking. He recognised their faces every year. The same panic in their eyes.

"Now Tanya, this is the main place you will be getting everything you need in order to complete your first year at Hogwarts. We'll have to buy you potion supplies..." He pointed to a shop further down the street with a large cauldron sign hanging out by the door. "...clothing..." He aimed his finger to a general direction to a back alley instead of a specific shop. "...books..." Flourish & Blotts. "...and of course your wand." This time he pointed out a store in the middle of the street. Olivander's, the sign read. He wiggled his own wand between his fingers almost as excited as the day he first came here himself. "Where to first?" He asked the girl, giving her time to adjust

Sorry for taking so long! I really need to get better at checking for replies. ;-;
Tanya watched Browne tap on bricks in a seemingly random order with his wand, anticipation growing as she waited for something to happen. He tapped on the last brick and stepped away with a feeling of finality in his movements. She watched, jaw dropping, as the bricks began moving and opening up a whole new world. She gaped at the people in robes and pointy hats rushing to and fro, all crazy-like. Shit, this was real. She could no longer believe that this was all some elaborate scheme just to mess with her, as she had originally suspected. She looked around, taking in the scenery.

She realized that Caradoc was talking a second too late, but fortunately Anton had been listening. "Well, we need money first, right? Do you take pounds?" Yes, that was a very good question to ask, Tanya thought. Money was very important after all. Money makes the world go round. She added in a bit of a singsong-y voice. What's wrong with me? Damn, I'm taking after Anton. I blame him. She thought, shooting a glance at her foster parents, who both looked starstruck. She took the first step inside the street, gazing at the different store signs.

"I'd like to get my wand first." Tanya said softly, looking back at her parents, who now looked both excited and uneasy. Browne looked rather thrilled, and she knew why. She was more excited than she could ever imagine, looking at all the stores and people. She knew that the reality of the situation hadn't even hit her yet, that she still couldn't quite believe it despite all the evidence laid out before her. In fact, she was quite unsettled. What if this was all a mistake? What if she wasn't actually a witch?

She forced the thought out of her mind and turned her attention back to her parents. Anja came up next to her and lay an arm around her shoulders, squeezing her lightly. Tanya appreciated the little hug, she felt the butterflies in her stomach begin to die out, or at least calm down. Anton flashed a smile at her mother and winked at her. She couldn't suppress the smile that crept up on her, but she forced herself to look away from her family and back at the Professor.
