It was rather sunny for yet another cold day in this year's november. Only a light breeze gushing as a reminder that winter was still coming closer; and every passing night, the days grew shorter. Hugh, a boy that took pleasure in staying up late in his dormitory, had noticed how he'd have to switch on the lights far earlier than he used to in the beginning of the schoolyear. Yet now the hour wasn't late at all. As his gaze fell outside, he could see a bright and sunny light turning the moist grass fields into a golden sea. The sun was calling him, telling him he needed to get out of that dusty dormitory and smell the air as one would bath in the warm sunlight. Therefor he had made his way down to the grounds, his neck buried in a thick gryffindor scarf. Per usual, he had brought along his sketching gear. His black shoes dipping themselves in the cold wet grass as he strode forward with his long paces.
After a short stroll he found himself a familiar old tree with low hanging thick branches. He threw his book to a hollow point in between the thick arms and jumped up, climbing til he got himself a good place to sit. His back wasn't too comfortable, but his long legs had room. Which was a luxury as far as seating areas came for Hugh. Light drips of sunshine fell through the roof of brown leafs. On occasion, one of them would find its way down to where the boy had set up camp. His green eyes often flickering as the light caught them in his movements. As time progressed, he found his eyes growing heavy and slow but surely, his mind started drifting off to far away places.

It had been several days now that Neculai had locked himself in the Ravenclaw tower reading schoolbooks and practicing some wand movements before the classes would start. He had to go outside, his mother and father wouldn't approve of him staying inside and keep on studying. He really wanted to study/practice some more as he wanted to be thoroughly prepared before the classes started. "Only one option left then..." Neculai gathered his woolen ravenclaw sweater and some fingerless gloves , so he could still turn the pages when needed, his wand and his book of spells. He was already halfway down the stairs when he ran back to the Dormitory to get his winter cloak. Perhaps it was still too early to wear, but when one just sits outside and reads you can get cold very fast.
When he was outside of Hogwarts castle on the grounds he kept walking until he found a bit of a more secluded place with a tree. "I think, I just may have found the perfect spot to practice some more wandmovements!" He was excited to continue on reading through the book. Not only a sense of mastering his wand he got when practicing, but he already felt like a true wizard when just opening the book. The book created some sort of "practicing room" where you could safely practice. Not that he would already start using actual magic, but it couldn't hurt to be extra safe for when it could potentially go wrong, when he accidently used magic. He liked to practice somewhere where he was alone so the others couldn't watch him practice over and over and over again until he felt like he mastered it.
So as planned Neculai practiced on a wand-lighting charm, so even when he did something wrong the damage or harm he could do with it would be minimal... Or so he hoped. It wasn't until his fifth time trying that he heard a snoring noise. "What in the..." He tried to locate the source of the snoring, when he looked up he saw a boy who fell asleep on one of the branches! "You got to be kidding me!" Neculai muttered. "Just as you think you wouldn't have any interaction with anyone this happens... Why does this always happen with me?!" He mustered all of his courage, "E-Excuse me... Hello! You up there in the tree! Yes, you! Would you mind getting down? I heard you sleeping and thought to wake you up, wouldn't want you to fall out of the tree and hurt yourself... Or me for that matter..."

Erik found himself wandering aimlessly again in Hogwarts. With nothing requiring his immediate attention he decided to discover the grounds. He was bored and was in desperate need of entertainment. After walking for a fair bit Erik noticed a boy with glasses practice with his wand underneath the seclusion of a tree. Well what do we have here? It seems entertainment has presented itself in the form of a darkhaired, Ravenclaw boy with glasses.
As Erik watched the boy he came across as an odd fellow. To the untrained eye of Erik the boy seemed to get a hold of the wandmovements he seemed to practice repetitively. That was until he seemed to burn a small piece of the grass around him as he was reading in his book again. The boy seemed to be completly oblivious to it. Erik had a good laugh as he saw the boy practice once more and then the boy suddenly stopped. He looked up and started talking to the tree it seemed? By Merlin's beard. Did Hogwarts accept people who had lost their mind? That's just great. First Mudbloods and now people who have lost their mind...
With that in mind Erik couldn't help himself, but wanting to find out what the boy would be up to next and what he was saying against the tree. Neither did he wanted to be robbed of possibly more entertainment. So he sneaked silently towards him. Hopefully without getting noticed.

It was a rather nice dream, Hugh would remember fondly as he'd recall this moment. With him running along what had seemed to resemble Hogwarts' grounds and castle. Except, all was different and the same simultaneously. The grass seemed to phase from a deep dark green into a clear sky-blue that seemed to flow as the wind gushed in a pleasant warmth. The horizon set in a bright red with golden rims caressing the mountaintops. His scruffy hair a bit longer as he remembered, it was waving along with every twist and turn he made in the multi-coloured field. Eventually he reached the old oak on the edge of the forest, one he greeted as an old friend. Though it seemed much larger than the last time he'd been here.
A large smirk grew under the boy's twinkling eyes, how he loved to climb. As his hands reached up they latched on to the first branch and pulled the lad up from the ground. The scene immediately drew Hugh jumping from branch to bough and back again. ‘til at last he found solid footing at the top, his eyes wandering across the distant landscape. His eyes frowned a little as he felt a presence behind him. As the world turned a deep red, he turned. Anastasia meeting him with a smile. He wiggled his nose a bit as he gave a nervous smirk in return. Though he heard some muffled sound. Was she talking? He tried to listen more carefully as he leaned a bit closer. "Would you mind getting down? I heard you... fall out of the tree...for that matter..." Her mouth didn't line up with the voice he heard. The smirk quickly erased itself from his face. "W-what?" He frowned, taking a step back. His foot slipped, and he felt his body falling backwards, his balance non-existent.
Somewhere mid-air, Hugh opened his eyes. The fall was too short for him to regain his senses fully before reaching the ground. Only he hadn't landed on the ground. Instead, he felt an awkward figure crawling from underneath him. "What the bloody..." Some Scottish nonsense seemed to roll of his tongue as he himself rolled up to a clearing where he could safely stand up. He stumbled back up and eyed what it was he fell off and into. His gaze went up to the tree he was sleeping in and down to the ground he landed on. He only then the small boy getting up as well. The blue colours on his coat clearly marking him as a Raven. Oh boy, he's one of them smart folks. What was he doing all the way here at my tree? He noticed the boy holding his wand and couldn't help but silently pulling out his own from his coat. A-am I in danger? He narrowed his eyes at the Ravenclaw figure.
His attention was short-spanned however as the recollection of his dream swooped back in his mind. It was the boy's voice he had heard. Anastasia hadn't been talking to him. What was she doing there in the first place? He shook his head a little in some faint attempt at getting her out of his head. To no avail it seemed, even though he realised this was not the time nor place to really be stuck on thinking about her. He shuffled a bit with his feet as he straightened his stance. He wiggled his nose a bit as he took one step closer to the boy, his fists clenching as a sign to be brave. He was a Gryff, he wasn't afraid of contact. He'd find out what this boy wanted of him.
He quickly snatched his sketchbook and pencils that had been scattered in the grass along the roots of the tree. Hugh took several steps sideways, away from where he'd dropped. The golden rays of sunlight hitting his face once more. It had seemed not too much time had passed since he had climbed to meet his slumber. Leaves cracked under his weight as he circled around the boy. He almost felt like an actual lion stalking his prey. Yet Hugh knew he'd never be a hunter. At most he'd feel a knight, as his father had raised him. "Sir Hugh", his father had laughed. Even as a toddler Hugh had been toying with soldiers. His father telling all kinds of stories from medieval times. Just like the knights of the round table, they had figured out their code. Their own morals they'd promise each other to hold true. It was so he had learned of chivalry & knighthood. How to be brave in the face of the unknown. And so here he stood.
Crack.
His head snapped to the sound, his body quickly following suit and turning in the opposite direction of the Raven. Was there someone else? Had the Raven brought a companion? Now he felt cornered. He was awkward just meeting one person at the time, let alone two. Or had he done something wrong to someone? And was this meant to be a trap? That'd be odd, he thought. Hugh was by no accounts one to get into any kind of trouble. He readied his swor-... wand. "Show yourself!" That sounded quite courageous he thought. The surprise brought a faint smirk on his face again. Was he actually enjoying this? I think I am... He felt his smirk getting larger. Who knew the unknown could feel so... thrilling? Though he still felt his nerves wrecking his knees, his casting hand was firm as a rock. Just like the great Lancelot had skilfully held his blade.
"Come out at once!" He cried out as his aim alternated between the Raven and the mystery sneak nearby. He felt a single drop of sweat sliding down from his brow. He felt his uneasy heart beating down in his chest. Nerves welling up from all the way down his feet up to his hazed mind. Stay strong Hugh. For father. For A... Just stay strong for Merlin's sake.

Erik couldn't see what had erupted outside of these bushes. There was a cacophony of sounds and it seemed that the dark haired boy had stoppped talking. When the Slytherin boy tried to get closer to the outer bushes to see what was going on Erik winced because of the cracking sounds. He furiously hoped that nobody would have heard that MONSTROUS sound that he just had created. When he tried to move forward again an unfamiliar voice called out to him. It sounded demanding. Erik cursed himself internally.
Alright, Erik. Just take a moment and think here. What are your options? Either you do as the voice tells you and just brace yourself for whoever is waiting for you outside the safety of these bushes or you try to divert the attention., he thought to himself. The blond haired boy steeled his nerves as he spoke: Or what? What are you going to do when I DON'T come out? Erik intentionally emphasized the don't part. He wanted to see what this mystery person was made of.
Well, let's see what we have here. Erik took a rock and threw it to his right in the hopes of taking the threatening boy's attention away from him whilst as silently and carefully (thus very slowly) making his way to the opposite side of the thrown rock's path. He drew his wand and held it in his right hand. Ready for anything and if necessary to face this demanding mysterious voice.

It was a damp and particularly dark evening. Neculai found himself alone in the shadows of one of the many bookcases in his families library estate. With a few feet from him on top of the centre table a lonely, dimly lit candle that fought against the consuming darkness of the shadows. The far eastern door of the library opened and shut. Never taking his eyes from the pages and the only sound of high heels clacking on the marble floor were audible in the large room.
“Hey, honey! Still reading that book?” With an innocent smile his mother had come to the library. He always was there, reading one book after the other. It had become his room, as he was more in the library then any other place. Blood red eyes appeared from behind the book as he lowered it. “You know it’s my favourite…” Neculai replied with a sharp and agitated tone. “Necu-poo, don’t be like that. You know we had to. We told you not to get too close with her… She- Well, she… Oh how shall I put this? She served a purpose, like all of them do.”
Out of the darkness a book shot at her direction and she swiftly ducked away, with the book hitting the candle and thus the only light being put out. Neculai rose from where he was sitting, long sharp nails piercing through his palewhite skin to reveal the scarlet liquid that he had come to love. Every fiber of his body screamed to attack his mother, but he tried to hold it back with all of his selfcontrol. Through gritted teeth he said: “Them? You refer to them as nothing but mindless beings, to be sold and bought like nothing more then an object?! They are far more then that, mother! They are my friends, companions… My FAMILY! She… Was… Family!” Scarlet drops rolled down over his pale white cheecks.
“Show yourself… Come out at once!” Eyes opened at the yelling that occured no further then a few feet from him. Grunting Neculai tried to pick himself up. “What… What happened?! What IS happening?!” The Ravenclaw boy was patting the ground in search of his glasses as suddenly he found them. When he wore them again a small crack was on his left glass. As he looked behind him he saw a very, VERY tall boy. Was that the boy that had fallen from the tree? “E-Excuse me, Sir! Hi there, what are you yelling at exactly?”

The part giant did not turn his back towards the sound. He would just assume goggles was alright, considering his tongue had not gone numb in the process. With a quick and snapping "SHH" Hugh lifted one finger, as to signal the boy to hold. His stern and murky green eyes would continue to scan the long patch of bushes to the side. A brief crackling of branches separated from the original place got the giant's attention for a brief second but proved quite unable to distract the tall Gryffindor. (Rolled 16)
"You can either come out of hiding right now you worm! or I will root you out along with the very bush you cower behind!" Hugh cried out with his low voice rolling out in his thick Scottish accent. This time the boy did look back and check up on the other. A smaller lad, Raven. meaning he'd be one of those smarter kids most likely. Upon inspection, it seemed the boy had broken his glasses in the process of Hugh's fall. The part giant lifted his wand at the boy's face and spoke loudly: "reparo" (Rolled 20)
In a split second the Ravenclaw's vision would no longer be obscured by the cracked glass in front of his eye. Hugh slowly looked back over his shoulder to see if the spy had finally decided to come play.

A voice that didn't sound in the slightest like that of the dark haired boy he saw practicing spells earlier was now threatening Erik. He called him out on his own bluff. It seems like you're not so easily intimidated then. Very well, I shall play along... For now. The Slytherin boy had no idea what he was getting into, but he pulled out his blackthorn wand out of his back pocket and aimed at where the voice had come from as he whispered: Fumos! (Rolled 20+6wis=26, lasts only one round)
Out of the tip of his wand a thick black smoke started to envelop the world around him and hopefully around the dark haired one and the other boy as well. Success!, was all he could think of as he got out of the comfort of the bushes as silently as possible trying to flank the boys without them knowing. When he had reached the safety of the tree he sat himself behind it with his wand still clenched in his fist. Ready to take on the two boys if need be. Erik tried to hide himself as much as he could behind the tree whilst looking from behind it at the backs of the two boys. Trying to work out a strategy how best to take them on if they proofed to be hostile.

"Get behind me goggles... I'm not sure what this punk is up to." Hugh growled to the Ravenclaw behind him. His ears could pick up movement again as the cowardly dog moved away through the smokescreen they had created. Two steps forward and one heavy tug on the bush's stem uprooted the entire plant from it's soil. There was no one behind it. Of course there wasn't, why else would the smoke have been necessary. The part-giant now hid himself in the smoke, holding on to both wand and bush. He kept the nerd barely within sight, just enough to make out if the boy would get attacked by some smug bully finding new prey.
If anyone would come out of the smoke or cast a spell that would reveal their location, they could be sure as hell they'd get introduced with a brush in their face. Hugh never liked being sneaked on and he wasn't afraid to make that point clear. Pulling his visor down in his mind, the knight stood ready to fight. Nigh was the hour of battle. Did a dog not know to stay away from a bear? Whoever they were, they had already proven themselves fools to Hugh. Now he just had to hope the bloody pigeon wouldn't get any ideas himself...

Still a bit dizzy from the huge Gryffindor boy that had only mere moments ago fell out of the tree right on top of him. Spooked at the sudden sight of a wand being pointed in his direction, everything faded around him. His body tensing, a fearfull expression on his face. Only one thought lingering. "Is this it? A few weeks in Hogwarts and this would be his end?"
Before he could speak or react to it the tall Lion had uttered the incantation. Immediately his sight returned to the Ravenclaw boy. Relief filled him as a sigh escaped his lips. His body visibly started relaxing. "T-Thank you! I- I appreciate it!". "Get behind me goggles... I'm not sure what this punk is up to." The pale boy heard the words and had just positioned himself behind the Gryffindor when a second later everything went dark again. Panick filled him once more as he forgot all about the Slytherin boy. "Y-you TOOK my eyesight from me! Why? Why would you ever cast a spell at me?! Don't you know the dangers of doing so? Am I never going to see again? Please, I beg of you, get me to the Hospital Wing! PLEASE!!!!"
The young Dhampir didn't know what to do and his instincts took over. Patting down his robes in search of his wand. "Where's this blasted thing?! Did I lost it when that monster fell on me?! Gods, I hope I can find it."
