an interview conducted by the amazing Amanda Sparrow for the Chaos SquadThe library of Hogwarts could only be described in three words confined to Owen’s limited vocabulary: hella fuckin’ extra. This wasn’t a bad title to have, most of the time.
Take Owen’s Headmaster, Lazarus Plott. He was the human embodiment of extra, but Owen still found himself liking the exuberant Headmaster. He was entertaining, and the library was the same way.
It was unbelievably big, and Owen was sure that less than half of the books on the shelves had been read, as it’d be physically impossible for someone to finish every book there in a lifetime. Okay, maybe he was exaggerating a bit, but still— “hella fuckin’ extra”.
Owen, Don, Hunter, Gene, and Delia sat in the library, looking like complete idiots as they looked around as if they’d never seen a library before. They were waiting for someone— a girl named Amanda Sparrow, who was going to interview them.
Owen didn’t know what she’d ask— probably stuff about them, how they met, what it was like at Illvermorny, and so on. He knew what he’d say, that he was a fourth year student, Wampus Quidditch Captain, and that the five kids had known eachother since second year.
He’d bite his tongue if Amanda asked about what it was like at Illvermorny, what it was really like. He’d never hear the end of it from Plott if he told Amanda about the— the situation at the famed school.
He would, however, explain the houses, making sure to emphasize that Wampus was, indeed, the best one. He’d explain the sorting ceremony, the classes and whatnot. In truth, Illvermorny wasn’t that different from Hogwarts, besides the accents.
Because of this, Owen wasn’t expecting the interview to be particularly, well, pressing, but he was in the business of meeting some Hogwarts students, and this was the perfect way of doing it.
“Is it just me, or does Hogwarts kind of remind you of Illvermorny with a bigger budget?” Owen asked, breaking the silence of the Library. He raised his eyebrows towards his friends, a small smile dancing on his lips.

Donovan had the feeling he was warned by at least two people there would likely be an interview conducted on large groups of friends, snatching up their input on how Hogwarts was, how being in Britain felt like compared to America, probably something about Ilvermorny and condescending bs about how Americans were idiots compared to literally everyone else in the UK, yada yada. He'd guarantee he'd want to rip his face off, if that were the case.
There was that brief paranoia there, that someone might slip up and mention the stuff going down at Ilvermorny. Forced segregation, the bribing, and the fear that magic may come to light in no-maj America. As much as Don loved no majs, he was afraid of them. People who fear things they don't understand often seek to destroy, and having his kind threatened raised the hair on his arms and turned his brain to goo. It wasn't fair, there was no equality, much less equity, in weighing opinions on this. He couldn't imagine what life would be like without his uncle, it made him want to puke and cry simultaneously.
That was when he decided to twitch the topics up in his head and pretend they never even happened.
"A bigger budget and bigger sticks up peoples asses," Groaned Don, twirling around on the chair he'd chosen to sit on, his head hanging off his shoulders like it was attached to a string. "I'm swear to God, the kids here don't even know how to talk. I tried to go up to this lil' dude, and you know what he said? He looked at me with them big ole' eyes and said that he needed to go to class. Seriously? It was after the classes had ended. There were kids bustling everywhere." He stopped the chair suddenly, looking up at his circle of friends. "Whoa," He whispered, watching his vision tilt all over the place like some psychedelic stuff was happening.
"Aside from that, I haven't gotten any diseases. Yet. My allergies are going crazy, though-" As if on cue, he started to sneeze into his elbow, eyes watering up, sniffing like he was dying. "Maybe I'm allergic to British people. I wouldn't put it past me. Goddamn crumpet-thumpin'-havers makin' me sneeze left n' right!" He spoke the last sentence with an Alabama twang, going back to twirling in his seat, waiting for said Miss Amanda Sparrow to show up. What an interesting name. He wondered if she'd been plucked from a drama TV show and dropped here... hm, hm hm hm. He never knew with these British people.

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

Hunter was so caught up in his surroundings he wasn't paying attention to what Don was even saying. Whoops. The whole room was larger than his apartment and all of his neighbors combined which simultaneously scared him and astounded him.
He looked straight up with furrowed brows, the books on the bottom shelves seemed well kept enough but the ones at the very top looked like they had years worth of dust covering them. Hunter didn't blame anyone for not wanting them, if he had to go through all the work of getting a latter, climbing to the top, and looking for said book he probably would hate reading more than he does now.
Ugh, reading. Even the thought of it made him frown. He didn't use to hate reading, in fact, there are still a few books he'll go back to every once in a while but at this point in his life reading usually meant an assignment. Assignments meant school, and school stressed him out.
"This is just . . ." He furrowed his brows again, looking at Owen as if he would have the answer. "Extra?" Hunter gestured to the space around them with his hands, bumping his hand against Don on accident.
Hunter didn't even apologize if it were anyone else outside of his friend group he might have but not Don. Instead, he just smiled and made sure to hit him again while swinging his arms back, this time with a little more force.
"Whoops." Hunter held back a laugh, crossing his arms as they reached his side.

Roleplaying as Genevieve (Evie) Davis
The Library at Hogwarts was... well... massive. Genevieve was rather picky about what she stuck her nose into to read but this place seemed absolutely full of interesting topics. A handful of titles had snagged her attention as they found their seats. Not that she would admit it to the group but she certainly loved reading. Delia was the only one that really knew her fondness for it. Mainly she had just kept to different fantasy type books from her life back home and never thought much of stepping into the library back at school. It almost made her feel like she was regressing back to her old life looking over different stories... shivers ran along her spine. That was something she certainly didn't want to return to.
This interview was another thing that made her shiver. How could she really give any good opinion on the school, being Muggleborn and all. Whatever that had meant to the Wizarding World... Honestly, she was already being used to having outsider status in the no-maj world, her family.. Illvermorny wasn't exactly the worst but perhaps she didn't notice it because she already felt on the outside. Granted, the school was the one place she did seem to fit in more. For the most part. She even had her friends here with her now.. Pureblood and all.. Owen accepted her. She didn't doubt that and of course Delia. Hunter.. Don. They had been the best thing to happen to her since.. well ever. There had been some strange interactions with Professors back at the Illvermorny campus and plenty of students kept their distance. She had just chalked that up to her attitude. Not her blood.
Anxiously she sat back in her chair next to Hunter, balancing on the back two legs. Strumming her fingers on her thigh Evie looked to the others.
“Is it just me, or does Hogwarts kind of remind you of Illvermorny with a bigger budget?”
Owen was right. So far everything about Hogwarts seemed fancier. Maybe it just seemed that way since everything was so new and shiny to them never having been here before. Not much seemed to happen back at Illvermorny, but that morning in the girl's bathroom she had overheard a couple girls rehashing some events from last year. A fire? Mini disco balls on fire? Had she really heard that right? It made her wonder how this upcoming ball would go. Giving a laugh at Don's comments, Evie recalled her run in with a couple Hogwarts students.
"Honestly, I haven't had any trouble. It's sort of strange." Vi ran a hand through her hair before placing it in a limp ponytail to one side of her neck. "I mean back at Illver most of the people don't give me a second glance. Especially the whole well... yknow." Clearing her throat she looked around before continuing. "They're sorta more.. welcoming about it I guess. Curious almost." Her voice faded not wanting to upset her group. This was a topic they didn't really discuss much. Sure she was accepted into their little club of chaos but she still came from nothing. Not like they did. The whole elephant in the room and all that. Vi's no-maj life. Even if she had cut herself off from it the conversation usually never was brought up about it.
Turning to watch Hunter and Don goofing off, Vi grinned. No-maj business or not... these people were her family. Blood's thicker than water.. Vi thought bitterly as she thought about her own parents. What a load of sh**....
