Finding Strangers
@Thora Larkston
The Note:Teiki quickly grabbed a poster paper and a marker before racing down to Great Hall. Well, the little area before it. She wasn't entirely sure why she had grabbed poster paper, but she knew she had to get the attention of someone she didn't really know. Well, a person who she only had a photo of from a letter. She quickly pulled out the photo, but thought that looking at random strangers and guessing if they were the right person would seem stalker-ish. She didn't really want that impression.
Glancing back down at the poster, she knew she could right Karilyna's name, so then maybe they could see each other. But to Teiki, that felt to awkward. She groaned into her hand, wondering why life had to be so complicated on so many levels. This should have been easy, but no...
Teiki sighed. She would just go with the stalker-like one. While Teiki was okay with the spotlight, she'd rather it not be that large. Then Teiki grinned.
She raced up the stairs as quickly as she could, trying not to trip and fall. Hastily scrawling a quick note on a ripped piece of poster board, she sloppily attached the note to the owl.
"Okay, so honestly, your flight shouldn't be that hard. The person is one this campus and she looks like this.." Teiki quickly showed the owl the photo. "K?" Then, Teiki raced back down to the Small Hall to wait.

Hey, this is Teiki. Your Quill Pal if you truly forgot. So, because I don't know how to find you, I've sent this owl. I'll be in the small hall, the hall before the Great Hall. Bye!

OOC: So, I can't be reasonable when it comes to my characters, so have fun with this. If you'd like to add comedy, I don't know how likely it is that Ilvermorny students will find the Great Hall easily. Whatever you'd like to do, happy roleplaying!

Finding Strangers
Roleplaying as approved dNPC Karilyna Kawahara | @Teiki LaurentKarilyna wandered down the halls of Hogwarts, a little smirk pasted on her face. The girl had left the Thunderbirds' temporary dorms that morning, deciding to do a little exploring. After all, there were way too many authoritative people here that could get her in trouble for her to cause any trouble, but there was nothing wrong with a little exploring, right? As she made her way through the Great Hall (was that what it was called?), Karilyna marveled at the largeness of the room, the floating candles that weren't yet lit, the long tables that somehow fit all of the Hogwarts students.
The girl pushed open the heavy front door and emerged into the cold air. What was with this weather? You would think that they could fix the climate, but it just had to be cold. Good thing she had worn all her layers. The small girl was just about to hurry back to her dormitory when a huge owl scared her out of her wits. "Merlin's beard!" she exclaimed under her breath. Seriously, what snowy owl lands on your head and squawks?Oh yeah! Teiki! Karilyna snorted under her breath as she realized she had forgotten all about her pen pal. Judging from how the owl coolly flew off, preening its feathers, she guessed that the Hufflepuff had sent the letter quite a while ago. Gulping, Karilyna tried her best to make her way to the Small Hall, or whatever it was called.Hey, this is Teiki. Your Quill Pal if you truly forgot. So, because I don't know how to find you, I've sent this owl. I'll be in the small hall, the hall before the Great Hall. Bye!
She made her way to "the hall before the Great Hall", which was like a reception hall. Grinning, she pulled a picture of her pen pal to her mind and began looking. Meeting new people was one of her favorite things (that weren't mean--she had plenty of evil pastimes). Approaching another black-haired girl that looked somewhat like Teiki, she tapped her on the shoulder. "Um, are you Teiki? Teiki Laurent? I'm Karilyna," It couldn't hurt, Teiki or not.

OOC: Sorry this isn't very developed, as I'm not sure about much of the details for the Ilvermorny event.

@Thora Larkston
Teiki gasped as she raced down the multiple flights of stairs. She gasped for breath, panting as she held onto the wall for stability. She had practically raced the owl down the stairs, although it now scattered, confusing a few people around her. She desperately hoped that her Pen- no, quill- pal found her in a few minutes. Not currently, because she was out of breath. But in a few minutes.
So she waited. And waited. And drew on the poster board, which she continued to cart around for no good reason. She was able to quickly grab a snack, and come back, facing the wall so as passerby’s couldn’t see the crumbs softly falling to the ground. Then she was tapped on the back and asked if she was Teiki. So her Quill Pal did find her! She stuffed her rest of the food in her mouth...
...And promptly choked on it.
She held out her hand, to tell her stranger friend person that she needed a moment, blushing furiously. When she had managed to properly ingest the food, she smiled.
“Sorry about that. I’m usually not so..” She flailed her arms around, glancing at the bread crumb and marked up poster board that was left off to the side.
“Anyways, yes, I’m Teiki. So, I’m assuming you’re Karilyna?” Teiki asked.

It’s fine. I’m trying to experiment with making my character comedic, or just feeling completely out of place, soo.....

@Teiki Laurent
Karilyna choked back a laugh as the girl turned around, startled and choked, barely able to keep from spewing crumbs everywhere. Waiting until the other girl finished chewing (and talking), Karilyna answered "Yeah, I'm Karilyna. It's nice to meet you Teiki." Gesturing about her, she said, "Well, this castle is certainly amazing. Ilvermorny is nothing like this, I mean, yeah, it looks really rich but this is... on another level." The Thunderbird really had no trouble talking to people, or making friends, for that matter. Phyllis back at the dormitory was one of those friends that clicked, but she was positive Teiki was perfectly friendly as well.
"So, um, what's it like at Hogwarts?" Karilyna was no stranger to adaption, and coming to Hogwarts was certainly no exception. She couldn't deny the fact that waking up in the cold, medieval-style castle was a strange sensation, but it didn't exactly bother her. "Do you know about that ball you were talking about? I forgot what it was called... Anyways, I brought a dress, but... what exactly's gonna happen?" Balls were a foreign and strange subject for the young girl, but she just said something for lack of better words to say.
Glancing over her quill pal's shoulder, she marveled at the many Hogwarts students milling around. Recognizing another Thunderbird first year, she gave a quick wave before turning back to Teiki.

@Thora LarkstonTeiki smiled. "Nice to meet you, too! I Sort of wish we could also go back to Ilvermorny, but that would probably take too much time, and we would probably lose all learning time. But still, fun." Teiki rambled on a little longer, before letting Karilyna have a chance to talk as well. She thought Karilyna seemed nice, and that their conversations through letters had given a sort of accurate representation of the person standing before her. She wasn't sure if she could call Karilyna a friend, with how little they had actually talked to each other, but she did seem like a nice person.
"Uh... I don't really know how to describe it. It's a really cool environment. Lots of stairs, that's the only problem. The classes are nice, although homework load can be heavy, but I'm sure that's sort of the same at Ilvermorny. Honestly, I think it would be best to explore around, I can't say I can give it an accurate description, sorry." Teiki blushed, before listening to Karilyna's question about the ball.
"Well, in truth, I'm not really sure. I haven't heard too much about it. I know it's masquerade, so you'll need a mask. I not sure if you're supposed to dress fancy, or wear costumes for Halloween. I could ask someone and let you know soon?" Teiki suggested, shrugging her shoulders.
"Have you explored around yet?"

@Teiki LaurentAs Teiki explained the ball (as best she could, of course), Karilyna sighed in relief. "Okay, good," she said with a smile. "I brought some random dress and a mask--one of my friends told me to bring a mask, because it might or might not be a masquerade ball. Anyways, it seems like your headmaster doesn't give out much information, either," Karilyna smiled. "Our headmaster told probably doesn't even care, 'cause he told us literally nothing--he just chose a bunch of us and stuffed us into some carriages saying we're going to Hogwarts." The Thunderbird joked, lowering her voice conspiratorially. Like it mattered--practically every Ilvermorny student knew that Plott was just some self-centered brat.
"Yes, I've done a ton of exploring," Karilyna answered Teiki's next question. "Do the moving staircases ever scare you? I was trying to get to the library because I've heard it's legendary, but then the staircase I was on did some kind of 180 degree spin and I almost fell off the edge. I guess I made sure to hold onto the banister after that. After like another 10 minutes of me clinging onto the banister I finally got to the second floor. And then I realized it was on the ground floor." The Thunderbird went on and on about her chronicles of exploring Hogwarts. "Anyways, sorry about that, do you have a Quidditch match going on right now? Or did you have one? Sorry, I love Quidditch. And also, I guess we've got all the formalities out of the way, so... what do you want to do? I don't really know, obviously, being new to the castle and all that..." Karilyna finished all in one breath.

@Thora LarkstonTeiki laughed softly at the comment on the dress.
"Honestly, though I did the same thing. Although I basically brought my wardrobe because, well, I technically live here." Teiki blushed, "Did you do the same at Ilvermorny?"
Teiki leaned forward conspiratorially as well when she responded. "Well, your headmaster is really into theatrics, no? I heard from the others and the ground shaking a bit." She had been close to the entering grounds when the fireworks happened.
"I had heard stories before coming here, but I still wasn't ready for it. The first day I came here was me attempting to keep my balance as I desperately hoped I was going where I wanted to go. So yes, I had a similar encounter the first time with the stairs. But you'll get used to it eventually. Also, don't hold onto the paintings. They don't really like it when you could be hurting their frame." Teiki held up a hand over her face to cover her cheeks and embarrassed smile.
"Actually, I do believe there is a Quidditch competition going on. We could see it if you'd like?" Teiki shrugged her arms. She continued, "I don't really have any suggestions, but there might be a dueling competition going on? Honestly, I don't know key locations quite yet." Teiki smiled apologetically.

@Teiki Laurent"Yeah, I basically brought my entire wardrobe, because yeah, we have to wear robes, but when we can wear something different, then at least we can choose from something, right?" Karilyna answered, glancing up and down the other girl. "Ooh, I love the Hogwarts robes. Ours are crimson and blue. Horrid. Your black ones are cool, though."
"And yes, Plott is soooo annoying. He literally made us ride in thestral-pulled carriages all the way here and then set off some stupid fireworks show. I died with laughter when none of you guys were there. He thinks he's the only person in the universe or something." Karilyna whispered and laughed as Teiki told her about the live paintings. Yeah, she knew about those, but seen them or not, they were kind of creepy? "Um, okay. We don't have any of those at Ilvermorny, but I've seen them around," Karilyna began, "I touched one once and it screamed its head off. And then I was like, okay??"
"Quidditch?" Karilyna started bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. The flying sport was arguably one of her favorite things ever about the wizarding world. Except for magic in general, anyways. "Sure, if there's a Quidditch game, we should see it. I mean, I don't know what team to cheer for or anything, but sure. I mean, you know more than me. And by the way, how did you get the owl to drop me a letter? Do you have an owl? I wish I could have a pet--they're so cool." the Thunderbird flooded Teiki with questions. "Sorry, I talk a lot," Karilyna admitted with a grimace, "Is there somewhere we need to be right now? Like classes? Sorry I'm so confused..."

@Thora Larkston
"Crimson and blue, huh? To me, it sounds.. okay. But it depends on the blue really." Teiki pondered softly, as she continued to listen to what Karilyna had to say.
"I'm sure it was spectacular. A flash of colors. The smoke rising. And then, no one. Until, of course, everyone looks outside because of the noise. So I guess he did get his audience." She shrugged, smiling softly.
"Yeah, the first time they really talked to me, I was completely scared. Scared to death, maybe." Teiki lit up suddenly, "Hey! We could be ghost buddies! Because we both died..." She started to mumble the last part, remembering that most jokes need explanations only if they're bad. Well, it certainly wouldn't be the first or last time she had done that.
"Sure, quidditch! So, I do believe there are some quidditch games going on.As for teams, it just the houses. I wouldn't really know the players, being a first year, and they just started their seasons. As for the owl... I was embarrassed with being a normal person if that makes any sense. I, unfortunately, do not have an owl. I would appreciate one greatly, but no. Pets are really cool.. Currently, no. There aren't any classes that are going on today that I need to be at, currently. I don't remember making any plans with anyone, so I am free? for the rest of the day. As for talking a lot, well, it seems you have beaten me, but don't apologize. I talk a lot, too." Teiki smiled, before asking, "So, where d'ya want to go?"

@Teiki Laurent"Okay, I guess it was decent..." Karilyna admitted with a grin. "Where is there to go?" she asked as she flipped her hair over her shoulder. "I kind of want to go to the Quidditch Pitch--if we're allowed to, of course--to see what it's like. Ours at Ilvermorny is trashed up and stuff. I wouldn't even try playing Quidditch there. Anyways, like the older kids would let me anyways. They're pretty rotten," The Thunderbird took a mock step towards the door (which door was it?). She probably would've dared Phyllis to a race, had the girl next to her was certainly not her best friend. But it was Teiki--she was perfectly fine with the Hufflepuff, but Karilyna knew her audience.
"Where do we go? Sorry 'bout my apparent obsession with Quidditch..." Karilyna apologized again. As she started towards the largest door (hopefully that led outside?), she turned back towards her new friend. "Where else can we go, by the way? And when is lunch or whatever? I'm starving... And I heard the food is good here. Anyways when is our first class?" Karilyna rambled on and on. "Sorry I'm rambling again..."
Should she charge out? That would be rude, right? Karilyna was torn. She really, really, wanted to get to the Pitch, but she should wait for Teiki, right? Hanging back, she waited for Teiki to catch up before charging out the door.
