Hunter Reys

Hunter had been mildly embarrassed by his headmaster, there was no telling what the other students thought of the Americans now. He had been one of the kids who had decided to stay in the carriage, going off of the premise that if they don't see you then the better off you'll be.

Although he was reluctant to admit it, Hunter was excited to see the school, he hadn't been on the other side of the world before so this was a whole new experience for him but if it ended up going the same way it had been, this trip was going to get annoying real fast.

The second time they had stopped, Hunter remained in the carriage for as long as he could before taking his first steps out. The castle stretched out before him, taking his breath away. Sure he had seen Ilvermorny but this was a whole new castle, he was allowed to be a little taken aback.

His friends had already started to talk in their own group, looking over at some of the Hogwarts students. Hunter huffed and made his way over, dodging the other students as best he could.

"Hope I didn't miss much," Hunter spoke, looking down at the scene unfolding in front of him. He knew his friends and all the antics they could get into, it was one of the main reasons he found himself laughing most of the time.

"Knowing you guys I probably did though." His eyes moved through the group, a smirk playing on his lips.

Iris shook herself awake. Finally they arrived. She stood and stretched. Too bad none of her friends were invited to come, obviously she would need to make new ones. She looked about the cabin not recognizing a single face. People were already out of the carriages. She found her way outside looking for someone to talk to, she didn't want to be the person no one was talking to. She was also slightly embarrassed from the Headmaster. He was always so out-there.

She walked around and found a few people talking. She recognized their faces, but didn't remember their names. She shivered, no one had told her that it was going to be this cold. She held her trunk behind her letting it bounce against her heels. Someone behind her fell in front of a girl and Iris couldn't help but roll her eyes, geez, no one want's to see that..

She approached the group and allowed herself into the small circle of people. She waited until people stopped talking and took that opportunity to add herself to the conversation.

"Hey, I'm Iris. Man, this place is cold." Iris pulled her cloak closer.

Teachers saw her as an angel and other kids certainly teased her about it. But she was breaking rules always, she was just never caught. So, she was surprised that she was invited here- mildly surprised- and was quite excited to meet new people honestly.

Don perked up when he heard a familiar voice next to him, his eyes brightening up when he saw it was their little friend Hunter.

“Hunter!” He chirped, leaning over to knock his face into his shoulder, stumbling clumsily for the brief second he lost his balance. He decided to take that opportunity to smash into him, hoping he’d catch him in his arms– although it would be pretty funny if he let him just fall.

When he heard another voice he didn’t recognize, though, his guard came up immediately. The girl, allegedly named Iris, wormed her way into their closed up circle. His face scrunched up when she complained, though, and he made sure it was very visible to everyone.

“Great opener, dude. I’m wet.” He said snidely, sort of retracting from his once open aura, shrugging his shoulders down, shoving his hands deep into his pockets. She was cold? That was it? Not even asking if she could hang around? He felt more bothered than he normally would have, he just didn’t like the way her face was– all grumbly, the way she didn’t look like she was in a very good mood. God, he’d go so much further if she wasn’t smaller than him, and also probably didn’t do anything wrong except bother him specifically.

That aside, he stayed shut in and didn’t say anything much after that. Sort of just… waited for someone to say something, also waited to get slapped across the face, or maybe get yelled at by his friends for being rude to some random girl who just wanted in. He didn’t feel that bad, though, which maybe made him a worse person– but also, he didn’t feel bad about that either.

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

Delia narrowed her eyes at Don's marriage proposal, but they quickly changed topics so she didn't get a chance to say anything. She would have said yes and done something equally dramatic, but whatever. The game was on. If Don wanted to try and one up her exuberant flirting, she sure as hell wasn't going to back down. She would win (whatever the prize was) and make him flustered if she had to die trying.

At Owen's exclamation, Delia found herself shaking her head. "Not really? Simon's nice enough but I don't know him as well as you do... You can though, if you don't mind missing out on some juicy prank planning." Delia added that last part mostly as a joke, but she really did hope he would stay. Owen was a good friend of hers and some small (read: large) selfish part of her wanted to keep him and the rest of her friends for herself. It was an odd feeling, that protectiveness. Delia squashed it before it got out of hand. No use relying that much on people.

She turned at the sound of Hunter's voice. While she didn't know him all that well (not enough to consider him one of her close friends) she found herself liking him, especially since Gene liked him so much. "Oh hey, Hunter. We were just talking about... schemes." That same odd feeling was flaring in her chest again. Delia ignored it.

Then there was another voice, saying something about the cold. Annoyance flared Flaered in her chest. Who on earth did this girl think she was, just walking up to a group of already talking people and butting in like that? Before she could speak, however, Don piped up and did so for her. "He's right. Didn't Mommy teach you not to butt into other people's conversations?" Her lips spread into a wicked grin. She hated to say it, but she liked giving the occasional verbal beatdown. Plus, seeing Don look discombobulated for a moment made her want to maim someone.

Karilyna drifted in and out of boredom. She had chatted with Phyllis the whole carriage ride to Hogwarts, but after all, there was only so much you could do on a several-hours-long carriage ride.  You would think that Ilvermorny could find some better magical means of transportation, but Plott just had to use a thestral-pulled system, the girl thought. Holding her breath, Karilyna couldn't wait to see the famous magical castle. Now, she wasn't an architect or a building-lover or whatever, but Hogwarts Castle is legendary. The girl did go to Ilvermorny, but the famous castle was on a whole different level.

"We're herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeee!" the Ilvermorny Headmaster announced into the mysterious darkness. Sparkling mist erupted into a cloud of mist outside, flowing into the window of our carriage and making everything blurry. A loud crack announced the arrival of several fireworks exploding into the air. I rolled my eyes, groaning. Seriously? Plott had such an ego. Opening the door, Karilyna stuck a boot-clad foot out, brown eyes glancing furtively at the surroundings. And then Plott made everyone get back it. Apparently, the egocentric headmaster had to be noticed by every living being within a three mile radius. The annoying headmaster even told everyone to change into bright clothes. Karilyna snickered. She had worn completely black on purpose. Merlin's beard, why would she wear bright colors?

The threstal-pulled set of carriages again sailed through the night, making a second tedious landing outside Hogwarts Castle. This time, the Thunderbird climbed out of the carriage after Phyllis, cracking her knuckles and surveying the darkness with a practiced eye. She didn't care if Plott made them stop, they honestly might as well seek shelter in the school from their crazed, selfish headmaster.

"You go on ahead Miss Doe-Eyes, I'll catch up in a minute," Phyllis turned to her. "Um, sure…" Karilyna answered. Typically, she would've pestered and pestered until she got an answer out of her psycho friend, but this time, Phyllis actually looked discomforted. With a sigh, the young girl turned away. Her breath caught in her throat as she saw the majestic castle. Until she remembered their visit. They were here to meet the Hogwarts students. Would she prank them? Did she dare? And the Masquerade Ball? At least that was what her owl pal, Teiki, had said. Whatever that was, Karilyna was not excited to dance. Hopefully she could just dress up all sinister and call that a costume.

She glanced around, stifling a laugh as she noticed some other students rubbing their arms. Seriously? They were cold here? Karilyna was from Arizona, and she was not cold at all. Well, of course, she was smart enough to bring a hoodie. Bouncing up and down, Karilyna made her way back to Phyllis. Giving her a couple moments, she tapped her on the shoulder. "What kind of havoc could we wreak here?" the girl whispered. After all, they had already dyed some random third year's robes in rainbow colors. Annoying people couldn't be hard here--there were SO many students.

Giving a sideways glance at the awkward looking boy Owen had called Simon, Vi shook her head. She didn't recognize him, granted she usually stuck to her own group and her own routine back at school. Most of the others around her, especially girls gave her an icy distance both in and out of class. It suited Evie just fine that way, no need to get caught up in anyone else's drama... no attachments. No new faces. No remembering new people's birthdays, names, problems, whatever. A deep part of her felt a twinge of guilt but that was a deep....deep deep part of her barely acknowledged by Vi.

It looked as if more students had started piling out of the castle in greeting and even other fellow Illvermorny members were emerging from their carriages now scarred for life once more by the Headmaster's shenanigans. Something Vi occassionally, okay regularly but secretly enjoyed experiencing. From a distance. Distracted, she found her focus drawn away from the group chatter to survey the area around them. Hardly any familiar faces. Were any her pen pal?

An all too familiar voice trickled into her brain causing Evie to abruptly turn towards... 'Hunter' A grin spread across her face. Man, was this boy gorgeous. Normally she would play along flirting and teasing boys with Delia as a pastime.. but having met Hunter made her feel all jellified in the knees.

"Thought you may have highjacked one of the carriages leaving us to suffer alone!" Vi kidded as she stepped closer to Delia on one side allowing more room for their friend. Staring Hunter down she eyed his hair and outfit. Charming, as always. What was it about him that radiated...well.. hot. Hotness. Sheer...hotness... 'Ugh god girl pull yourself together.' Internally she scolded herself but stole another once over of the boy before a girl was speaking to their group.

Instantly she felt herself go into defensive mode. It was strange. She was immensely protective of her group and usually didn't like sharing. Growing up basically the middle child had taught her to fight for what she wanted and never give it up. Not to anyone. Ever. These were her friends.

Ballsy. She would give the girl that much credit. Iris. No one she had heard of. Was she a third year as well? Wracking her brain she tried to bring up any memory of this girl from school. Nada. However, Vi didnt like the immediate shift in the air as the girl invited herself into their circle. She could feel the hackles raise on Delia as she spoke to the girl and it made her own primal response flare up. Her eyes flicked to the Headmaster not too far from them. If this got heated this might not end well for them and they still had so much to explore here. She didnt want this girl to spoil this.

Straightening her back and raising a brow at the blonde haired girl, a smile slid onto Vi's face. Interesting. Something about this girl was... interesting to say the least. She could be useful. If she had it in her that is. Sizing up the girl, trunk behind her and messy hair in her eyes, Evie let out a laugh breaking the awkward silence. She walked forward and snaked her arm around the girl's shoulders.

"You aren't wrong about that." Sliding her arm loose and walking to the front of the girl, her fingers intertwining with the cloak. She tugged at the cloak ties around Iris, tightening them around the famous Gordian knot and matching Iris' green stare. "Don't you worry though..." Evie's voice was barely above a whisper, her face leaned in closer to the girl's. Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she continued, "If you stick around long enough things will heat up." Pausing to stare at the girl, eye to eye, Evie smirked. She waited a moment before patting the knot and backing up to retake her position by Delia.

Thea watched the show unfold for a bit. Indigo sparkling smoke, fireworks, and people walking out. Most were dressed in earth tones, but from what she was hearing, the person she'd assumed to be the headmaster wasn't quite happy with that, shouting about brighter colors and pastels, and being noticed.

She was about to leave, getting colder with every second that passed, when a blonde boy with blue eyes, coming out from the group of American students, had suddenly started talking to her. He got down on his knees and while he was saying words Thea knew, they were not making sense. She felt that if this kept up, people would start staring.

And well, to say Thea disliked being the center of attention would be an understatement.

Yeah, for a minute it was fine to get praised for something, to get the validation, maybe show off and boast a little bit. But that was all positive attention, and for the minute it'd last the Hufflepuff witch was completely fine with it.

Negative attention was a whole another thing. While in some circumstances any publicity is good publicity, that didn't apply to any of things Thea would consider normal. People looking at you weirdly after you say something you thought was normal? Horrible. People laughing because of one small mistake? Even worse. Or maybe just being randomly put in the spotlight, in a situation where you're not prepared, and one you have no control over. That, Thea absolutely hated that.

And what was happening with the insane American boy was definitely the other kind. The one she hated the most. Thea had no idea what was going on, and she just stared at the boy as he kept blurting out absolute nonsense. Only than she got a closer look at him - past his blonde hair and very weirdly piercing blue eyes, she noticed that he was wearing a white collared shirt with long sleeves and... Ducks? Printed on it with a pair of jeans he apparently didn't mind getting dirty as he still was not standing up. He was also smiling, which you couldn't say about Thea.

The Hufflepuff blinked a couple of times and opened her mouth, but she wasn't able to utter one word, so she just kept opening and closing it like a fish. "...please don't." she was able to quietly utter as she looked at him once more in a mixture of confusion and disbelief, getting more uncomfortable as time went on.

Iris gave a smile, letting a few peoples remarks roll of her back. She was just getting to know people. They shouldn't be too frustrated about her 'butting in' to their conversation. She smiled and rolled her eyes again, this time in a friendly manner.

"I am cold though." She said again. So what if they thought she was annoying. They would eventually like her. She kind of just stood there waiting for someone else to say something. Two first years almost made eye contact with her, I wonder who they are? She waited desperately trying to remember their names. Usually she already knew everyone's name and found her way into a group easily.

Realizing her face was slightly annoyed she let it ease into a playful expression. She was so grumpy for being stuck in a carriage for so long. Her eyes drifted to the right where a large wilderness stretched out. She would find a way in there at some point. She grinned- always one to rebel, yet never caught. Teachers thought she was an angel, only her close friends knew she was truly a prankster.

Someone had ruined a few of her robes shortly before coming here and she was going to find out who did it. While she was at astronomy, they had come in and painted most of her robes with large rainbows. They were going to pay for this. As much as she hated to admit it, she sort of respected them. It took a lot of guts to do that. Still she did not know who the culprit was and was intent to find who it was and prank them while she was here.

Iris shook herself from scheming and brought herself back to Hogwarts. The castle loomed quite close to them and the storms had begun to settle in. One guy in the group mentioned he was wet. At least she had thought to bring a rain coat sort of thing. Her friend back at Ilvermorney had given her the muggle jacket thing. It did help some. She wondered if it was breaking the rules to cast a magic umbrella.

Amaya was too excited to comment on the extravagance of her headmaster, she couldn't believe she'd traveled anywhere other than Massachusetts, much less out of the country. It would have been a lie to pretend she was disturbed by his climactic display of the Brits, but to be put on the spotlight wasn't something she relished. Stepping out of the carriage, she glanced around at the scenery of the British school and then up to the immense castle. Like every distinct school she went to, the same thought ran through her mind. How on earth was she going to navigate the school without seeming like a total newbie?

Her excitement was at its summit now that the carriage had docked. At least they weren't in the air anymore, it took her a few breaths to get herself back together. After eventually closing her eyes tightly and falling sleep on the ride, the thought finally occurred to her. Why couldn't they have just used portkeys? Perhaps the headmaster was a bit too flamboyant for instant transportation.

Dressed in only bright colors, a vivid yellow shirt and a denim jacket flawlessly displayed her mood. Euphoric, of course. A travel-size book bag had made its way on her back and a small keychain on the bag clinked noisily, but it was soundless compared to the Headmaster.

As the fireworks sounded on the ground, she turned to her friend on the carriage and asked sarcastically in her most genuine British accent, "D'you think it's safe to get off?" Plugging her ears as another earth-shaking eruption came, she snickered quietly to herself, too happy to be annoyed by the loudness. "We should probably get to the gates. Don't wanna wait out here with... him." Amaya gestured to the headmaster with her arms, still pressing her fingers in her ears.

Running up to the castle was much harder than it looked. Winded out by the energy it took to dash up the hill, she leaned against the castle and was immediately 'smacked' by a breeze of cold air, sending a shiver down her spine. She couldn't wait to get inside.

Owen couldn’t help but wince as the girl— Iris, butted into their conversation. The rest of the group seemed to have similar reactions— and he almost felt himself feeling bad for Iris as he knew what the dangerous combination of smart-asses and innocent toddlers could lead to.

He didn’t, however, feel bad enough to stay quiet as his friends spoke, and his laughter would’ve been mean if it wasn’t so justified. I mean, this kid was being incredibly annoying, and the fact that she wasn’t even standing up for herself seemed to make it worse.

He was about to pull Iris aside and tell her that she seriously needed to fuck off, when Violet decided to take a different approach. Owen felt an evil little smirk tug on the corners of his lips as he watched her, his eyebrows raised as he watched the all-too-familiar display.

Basically all of the Chaos Squad had dated at one point, wether it be playground romances or arranged marriages. They were that one group of kids where people asked, “are they dating or something?”, and you wouldn’t know which members they were talking about.

And although Vi’s creative input was welcome, Iris hadn’t really been affected by any of their comments, which made her, unfortunately, boring. The group of high-energy, drama-fueled teenagers didn’t have any space for boring, and Owen, as the designated “Dad friend”, felt the need to take on the responsibility of shooing her away.

“Listen...” Owen’s mind drew blank as he realized that he didn’t remember the girl’s name. kid. You need to like, fuck off. Deadass, man— I feel like I can speak for everyone when I say that we don’t want to be friends or anything.”
