Emmy's heart started filling with dread once Graci started reading the instructions out loud. She didn't know what to say, since she was still slightly aggravated, but also was embarrassed on what a big stupid mistake she had made. What made it worse was the fact that she kept trying to defend herself even though she was wrong.
"Oh," was all Emmy could muster up as a reply.
What is WRONG with you? Emmy scolded herself. You can't even think for once. There was a myriad of emotions swirling around inside of Emmy, and none of them were good.
"Whatever. Let's just redo it and hope the professor doesn't notice," Emmy muttered.
She watched as Graci turned up the heat, unsure of what to do without seeming useless. Emmy didn't want to ruin it again, so she just stared awkwardly at it. As she was preparing, she heard Graci start humming an unfamiliar tune. Something about being on an adventure. Making mistakes in Potions was indeed not an adventure.
Graci apologized again, but Emmy couldn't tell if she was sorry for her tone or for what she said. Again, Emmy did not reply.
"You should be," Emmy blurted out without thinking.
Quickly, she slapped her hand over her mouth, shocked that she had just said that. The angry part of her didn't feel any form of remorse, but most of Emmy felt really shocked about what she had said.

Emmy was right of course. Graci should, and she was.
Graci huffed, "I said sorry, I am sorry. And I'm sorry that I'm getting annoyed now, but gosh, just take the apology and move on! I said it sincerely and we're on the right potion now so let's just do that instead, okay?"
She paused for a moment, and all the fight left her, leaving her on auto pilot. She then reminded herself that she was twelve -newly turned- and the whole world didn't revolve around her. In fact, she wasn't even apart of most people's worlds here. Sometimes the fact that she was so insignificant was comforting.
She switched her mental songs, feeling this one would be more fun than Mr. Rager, though both were good. Graci felt that, at this point, she had more singing going on in her head than actual thinking. Not necessarily problematic, but still concerning.
~Cause when I'm older I'll be so much stronger. Meet me at our spot~ Now Meet me at our Spot was playing in her head, by THE ANXIETY, WILLOW, and Tyler Cole.
She took the cauldron off the fire and got her measured two ounces of botuber pus ready, "Emmy, can you start crushing six seashells? That might take a bit, with how hard they are."
Graci stirred it again, three times counterclockwise and put it back onto the heat. Then she looked back. "Well, you don't have to, we still have about an hour till we need them."
~Caught a vibe, baby are you coming for the ride?~Yes, I said I was gonna be unactive, but only for the ooc stuff, only online for my threads till friday-saturday:)

Still taken aback by what she had said, Emmy continued to stay silent, not wanting to escalate the situation, nor make herself look weaker. Graci was visibly getting annoyed, and her voice had a little more frustration in it. Emmy ignored her, letting her dialogue fade into background noise, the clinking of the cauldrons and the other multitude of potion noises draining out what she was saying.
They both stayed quiet for a little, lost in their own little worlds. Emmy was silently letting out her anger inside of her, instead of screaming everything at Graci. Obviously, Graci, the more mature one, had already left the fight behind her, and she looked content. Unbothered by this fact, Emmy was sorry too, but she couldn't bring herself to say that to Graci. Especially not after that attitude she gave her.
Graci suddenly said something, snapping Emmy out of her brooding thoughts. Emmy picked her head up, showing she was listening, but didn't bring herself to look at Graci, whether she was looking at her or not. She instructed her to start crushing six seashells, which Emmy silently obeyed, unwilling to mess up again.
Her hand gripping the pestle in one hand and the mortar in the other, she began crushing the seashells. The first time she did it a little too light, and nothing happened except for a slight crack near the top. Emmy took a deep breath and started letting some of her anger out on it, and the seashells broke with the first crush. She continued doing this, and she loudly pushed all of the crushed seashells in front of Graci.
Emmy was being a jerk, and she knew it. She sat cross armed, her eyebrow raised, and her legs bouncing in her seat, slightly shaking the table. Unsure if this was out of habit or she just wanted to annoy Graci, she continued doing it, rattling the table a little.

Ok, ok, ok, ok, ok. She doesn't like me, it's fine. Just have to get through the class. That was about all going through Graci's head as she fiddled with some jars. Flobberworm mucus didn't seem too appealing, but she had a feeling Emmy wouldn't want to do that.
But Graci didn't want to feel like she was commandeering the project, so that left he rin quite a problem. Ask Emmy to do stuff you know she'll say no to, or be overbearing and do it all herself. Neither were good options, but she'd cross that path when she came to it.
"Thanks for crushing these, Emmy, I'm not the strongest so it probably would've taken me a bit. And technically we still don't need them for about... fifty-five minutes? So sorry 'bout that."
Graci decided she would be civil and indifferent. She noticed the table shaking and identified the source to be Emmy's foot tapping, but Graci payed it no mind. She had a few fidgety habits as well.
The class went a bit the same, but they had to wait a bit for the sixty minutes to be over, so that was a little bit boring.
Graci and Emmy got the crushed seashells, powder, Flobberworm Mucus in, and stirred till it got where it needed to be. It was definitely an... interesting encounter, sure to be continued the next day.
Yay, can't wait.

The air was full with awkward tension, you could feel it in the way they were avoiding each other's gazes. Emmy kept her head down, focusing on her assignment rather than letting her anger out again. She had completed her task, and so had Graci, so Emmy pretended to be extremely interested in the arched cobblestone ceiling of the potions dungeon. She felt weird, with nothing to occupy her empty hands.
"Is there anything else to do?" Emmy asked, breaking the heavy silence.
Emmy stared at the liquid bubbling before them, froth sloshing around the edges. It was a nasty color, probably because of all the disgusting ingredients they had to use to produce it. She glanced at the clock. There is no way they were going to sit in silence for the rest of the period.
Bored, she examined the room a little more. On her right, there were shelves stacked with an assortment of vials, some storing calm waters, while others storing a dangerous, furious liquid inside. In the front of the room, there were some extra, used cauldrons that the class could share if they forgot their own. The other students had around the same shade of liquid in their cauldron as Graci and Emmy did, some a little darker. There was one pair's cauldron in the corner that was hissing, with cotton candy smoke hissing out of it. You could tell that someone had messed up there. Emmy blushed when she realized that her and Graci's potion could have ended up in the same situation if Graci hadn't noticed the mistake. She had to credit Graci for that, but she wasn't ready to say that to her.

"No, I don't think there's anything else to do but pour it into the container."
Graci was just kind of there. Not actually mentally present, but still there enough to look like she was paying attention. She poured the thick mixture into the jar and sealed it good.
"All done I guess. It was fun doing potions with you." Graci was lying, but her voice was just plain. Not sarcastic or anything, but leeched of emotion. Her brain was tired. Which was odd because she was usually a sociable person.
Huh, maybe it's just tiring, having someone not like you immediately.... Gosh, I sound like a spoiled rich kid who has a lot of friends 'cause they want money. Oof. I'm not a rich kid and I don't have a lot of friends so I suppose I don't sound like that.
She just sighed and sat through what someone must have been saying, be it the teacher or Emmy, possibly both, she didn't know.
When Graci daydreamed it was just her sitting on her bed back in London listening and singing to music. Ah, those were the days.
~Meet me at our spot
Got something I wanna show you
Meet me at our spot
They can't find us there
Caught a vibe (woo, woo)
Baby, are you coming for the ride (the ride, the ride, the ride)
I just wanna look into your eyes (your eyes, your eyes)
I just wanna stay for the night, night, night
When we take a drive (woo, woo!)
Maybe we can hit the 405~
Graci especially loved how this song was sung by two people, and the beautiful way their voices melded together. The music world loathes the day I write my first song.
She had always wanted to write a song, but never had the inspiration or skill. Graci Graci Graci, get your head back to potions before the potions get back to your head.
It was official. Graci was going insane.

Leaning back farther into her seat, she watched as Graci poured the mixture into the jar. Now, they were officially done. They sat in silence for an additional 5 extra minutes, waiting for the period to be done. The professor wrote that they had to do a homework assignment stating a summary on how they made the liquid with their partner, due Monday. Emmy groaned out loud at this, but only so that she could hear it.
They'd have to work on it together Friday, because that was the only time Emmy was free. Well, I'm looking forward to that Emmy thought bitterly.
"All done I guess. It was fun doing potions with you," Graci said in a flat tone, which Emmy couldn't place if out of sarcasm or politeness.
"...Mhm," was all Emmy could muster as a reply with a curt nod.
The professor was explaining the assignment, which Emmy couldn't understand why, since he had already written the instructions on the board. Emmy kept zoning out, as his voice blended into the other students finishing up their own mixture. Sneaking a look at Graci, she noticed she had a faraway look in her eyes, obviously having something on her mind with something else. He then dismissed them, with 2 minutes left in the period, giving them extra time to get to their next period.
Emmy stole another glance at Graci. Unwilling to talk to her, Emmy concluded that she would find a better time to tell her when they would work on the assignment together. Emmy couldn't predict whether they would have forgiven each other by then. She packed up her belongings and left the Potions Dungeon without another word.
