Admittedly, Clément's English was still far from fluent, but with some focus and a rather large pool of grammatical errors, he managed to keep track and take part in the conversation. It was with not too much difficulty, therefore, that he recognised the name of the South American wizarding school, Castlebruxo. So she's from all the way there... Clément thought, some signs of interest showing on his facial features. "Hmm... I've never been outside of France, but I've 'eard about it and it sounds very cool!", he replied, his French accent again meddling about the syllables. The second part of Sabrina's sentence was a bit more difficult to understand for the non-native speaker, but he figured out what she meant nonetheless.

"Ah yes", he said brightly after a brief moment's thought, "It is not very 'ot 'ere, in the mountains. It must be a lot 'otter in your place."

The rest of the conversation went on as the two walked towards the snack area. Clément replied as precisely as he could in English that he was enjoying meeting all the new faces, and that he hoped Beauxbâtons would host more events like this one.

As they approached the table, Clément snatched a delightful bright green macaron - his favourite pastry. As he munched, the mint flavour filling his mouth, he could not help but wonder whether Sabrina had signed up in search of friendship or... something else. This was, after all, Valentine's Week, and the French boy knew a lot of people were eager for something more than just friendship.

Blunt as he was, Clément was just about to ask when Sabrina brought up the topic first - as if she had read his thoughts. He let out a small, lighthearted laugh before saying lightly, "I was just about to ask you that! Are you a legilimens or what?" he chuckled, then went on, "To be 'onest, I'm very much okay with both. Both would be very fun! Though I 'ave made a bet with friends to see..." he couldn't stop his lips from curling into a sly grin, "which one of us would find a girlfriend first." He winked, and perhaps finding himself a bit too forceful, said, "But of course! I am not forcing you in any way, huh?"

Valentine's day was one of Nora's favourite holidays. It wasn't necessarily one she looked forward to, but when it came around, she was certain to have a good time. And it wasn't because she was a romantic or because she thought she'd find her one true love, she didn't think of Valentine's like that. For Nora, it wasn't just a day for couples and proposals, it was a day to show the people in her life that she appreciated them. Her family, her friends-- hell, the people she wanted to be her friends.

Holidays like Halloween and Christmas were fun and all, but there was too much expectation and therefore too much let down. Valentine's was pretty easy going if you're single-- which Nora usually was-- so she could usually just have a good time. Plus, it didn't force itself into a full month. Sure, some overly zealous people might let it last a week or two, but that's extreme. Not to mention that even though Nora never counted on it, there was a potential to find someone new, which this event would hopefully make easier. If only she could find her pen pal...

Right as she was about to give up and drop her letter in, she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was a girl with shoulder-length brown hair, similar to the length of Nora's the year prior.

“Excuse me?” asked the girl, looking a little nervous. “Do you by any chance know who Nora De Carie is? I’ve been assigned as her pen pal and I’m unfortunately unfamiliar with her.”

Nora's eyes lit up the second she heard her name. "That's me!" she replied quickly, a wave of relief washing over her. "Crazy coincidence. You must be Sage?"

Sage was very pretty, she thought. If anything, she reminded Nora of some type of nymph, with her brown hair-- much lighter than Nora's-- and similarly colored eyes. There was a fair chance that Nora might have asked her out if they'd met at Hogwarts. However, she didn't want to make assumptions about what Sage had wanted a pen pal for, or if she was even into girls. So, for now, she'd keep things friendly.

"Do you want to sit down somewhere?" Nora suggested, gesturing to one of the tables with snacks. "I've already written your letter, so we can just get to know each other if you want."

all Sabrina's actions/thoughts are in character
In Sabrina’s humble opinion, Clément didn’t seem like a complete and utter imbecile. Despite their limited time of interaction, none of his actions sent an omen to her mind. Unexpected due to Sabrina’s past experience with boys, but appreciated nonetheless.

Call her susceptible, but the rumbling feeling of infatuation, or even just a feeling of appreciation, struck her heart. But for the moment, she would push the feeling to the back of her heart. First things first came getting to know her company.

“Hopefully you’ll earn the chance to travel soon. Perhaps by going to Hogwarts for one of the balls? They can be very stupid, but it’s nice to travel.” She smiled, shifting her feet. “Oh, yes, it is very hot. It’s a bit awful at times, but at least it isn’t loads of snow.”

During mulls in the conversation, Sabrina found herself resorting to picking at her nails, studying the room, noticing the other faces there, anything to keep her mind busy. A busy mind meant too busy to focus on Clément, rude as it may seem. She watched him take a bite of a little green thing, almost like a tiny sandwich. She tore off a small chunk of her croissant and ate it.

His answer to her heavy question came, and she held her breath for the moment it took him to answer. “Not a legilimens, just Sabrina.” Her overactive mind failed to note what was likely a joke. “Clément, I have to be honest with you, that’s really the only way friendship or anything works.” She folded her hands together, glancing down at them so she didn’t have to see his expression. “I, a few months ago, had a… less than enjoyable experience with unrequited feelings. I, as lovely as you are proving to be, don’t believe I could at this point agree to be anything… more.”

She felt guilty, somehow. That smirk she had seen on his face, she hated to think she might make it fall. “I’m sorry. I really am. Perhaps at another time, but not right now. I would, however, be very interested in being friends. Is that a fair trade?”

Mission accomplished! Or at least halfway finished. She, thank God, had found Nora. And coincidences of all coincidences, she just happened to be the girl she’d asked for directions to Nora De Carie. A relieved smile crossed Sage’s face.

“Yes, hi. I’m Sage. Nice to meet you! Great that we were able to find each other! Have you been here long?” She could only hope Nora hadn’t been waiting for her to show for a long time, that would probably be the worst first impression she could make.

Taking the time to study Nora, this time knowing who she was, Sage could only figure she was older. Dark hair, fair skin, blinding blue eyes, Sage could only marvel at how well put together Nora was. A section of her felt messy next to her.

“Yes, let’s sit.” Sage led the way towards one the tables, assuming Nora would follow. She did not reach for one of the snacks the table had been adorned with, her stomach was no home for food thanks to the butterflies it was full of.

“Oh, I finished my first letter to you as well! It’s over there, buried somewhere in that mailbox.” She pushed an awkward laugh out, she was really not good at meeting new people. “So, um, tell me about yourself. Are you a third year? Fourth? You look older. I’m in second.”

The Beauxbaton Valentine's event was indeed not a part of Elisa's itinerary for the year, but when whispers of it fell into her ears, she couldn't prevent herself from joining it herself, her plan being to distract herself by some petty event against all the thoughts and horrors lingering on her mind.

There she was in the Beauxbaton art gallery, her eyes sparkled after a long time with admiration at the sight of the exquisitely decorated Art Gallery, even though Valentine's themed decorations did an excellent job at giving her an ick, something about all these many hearts just seemed disgusting. Elisa sighed as she picked up the letter addressed to her. Alejandro? the name seemed familiar, maybe some unofficial race teammate she had during first year?, Elisa picked a sheet of paper for herself to write a reply, little did she know it wasn't her cup of tea, after nearly 7 wasted sheets, her letter was complete, not genuine but enough to deal with this shitty event she had joined.

Dear Alejandro,
Its a pleasure to meet you, I'm Elisa Shakestra, 2nd year Hogwarts too, I live in Wiltshire and am British, I believe we were in the same team in some unofficial broom racing match. I'd not try to recall cuz I have no intention to write a letter to you back. Hope you have your good time in France.

The young slytherin seal the letter and put it into the box, she might've been harsh but the guy seemed too cheerful to have around..

Sage looked relieved to find Nora, which put her at ease. Though, she was still a bit nervous. She made a conscious effort to lower her shoulders, which she often had raised by instinct. It was like she was always on watch, but she needed to learn to be a bit more trusting of her surroundings. Because the more relaxed she came off, the easier confidence came to her as well.

“Yes, hi. I’m Sage. Nice to meet you! Great that we were able to find each other! Have you been here long?” Sage said, and Nora was quick to reassure her that she'd only been waiting a minute. “Yes, let’s sit.” Sage replied. Nora still held her letter, so she quickly dropped it in to the pile before following Sage to one of the tables.

“Oh, I finished my first letter to you as well! It’s over there, buried somewhere in that mailbox.” Sage laughed, and Nora could tell the girl was a bit nervous. Well, the feeling was mutual. She could only hope that they would start to relax after a bit. “So, um, tell me about yourself. Are you a third year? Fourth? You look older. I’m in second.”

"Oh, no, I hope I don't look too old," Nora joked. She toyed with one of her bracelets, a mindless but comforting habit of hers. "I'm just a third year. I'm a Slytherin, you?"

Nora assumed from Sage's accent that she went to Hogwarts. It was english, like hers, but a bit different, maybe more southeastern? Nora couldn't place it; she'd never been good at accents. She just hoped she was right about Sage being from Hogwarts. That would be nice, then they could be proper friends, not just pen pals. Of course, they could still write, but being able to meet in person too is preferable. Then again, Nora didn't have too many international friends, mostly because she was awful at keeping contact, so it would be nice to have one.

Nora brought her legs up, crossing them on the bench, and asked, "How are you finding Beauxbatons?"

Nervous twitches covered Sage's actions. Smoothing her clothes, picking at a hangnail, flicking that annoying piece of hair out of her eyes, anything to give her mind something else to focus on.

When Nora spoke, Sage forced her hands to freeze. Don't shake, don't fidget, she told herself. A dry laugh escaped her lips at Nora's quip.

"Old? No, no! You don't look that old! Just... wiser? I suppose that is the best way to put it." She laughed, nervously, again after she finished speaking. "Second year. Can't believe we've only got a few months left before graduation. Oh, I'm Hufflepuff. I guess we've got kind of the opposite houses, haha."

Her eyes followed the behavior of others in the room. She turned back to Nora. "Do you do any sports? I play Quidditch, although I'm not the best on the team."

Quidditch was just another stroke on her resume. It was fun enough, though getting hit off your broom in basically every game was not the best way to spend her time. She'd stick with it though, it was nice just flying around the arena.

"Oh, it's wonderful. I speak not a word of French so the communication aspects are a little tricky, but I love the way the land is. Have you seen the gardens? They're beautiful, we could walk down and I could show you if you'd like!"

A nervous proposal, but one she felt decently confident in. The gardens would probably be what she would miss the most about Beauxbatons when she left for home.
