Dear Amaya Haddock,

Hi there! Thank you for the compliment on my name, but since "Euphrasia" is rather difficult to spell, you can just call me "Millie" instead! But I must warn you, just because my name is fancy, doesn't mean that I am.

I'm twelve years old/in the second year, and I was born in Birmingham England, but I travel frequently between the U.K. and North America. My grandmother and mother are both from there, from Massachussests, and the rest of my family is from some other southern parts, I'm not really sure where they live exactly.

My Hogwarts house is Gryffindor, and while it would be cool, were all the "arrogant, brave, jock" type, y'know? And it's really crazy because like ninty percent of the time there are twenty different pranks and four people fighting each other at once. It's chaos unless you're in the dorms or early in the morning.

One Direction was my thing back when I was younger, maybe like 2014 or something, but they're not really my favorite band anymore. I like Melanie Martinez and Bob Marley more.

I have a really, really big cat named Honey. She's a silver siberian cat and I got her in the beginning of my first year here! She was born in 2017 though. But when I mean she's big, I mean she's like... a bigfoot-sized cat. Giant!

Also, letting you know, I've been fluent in French for almost all of my life. I learned it in daycare when I was three or four.

Dear Millie,

What a relief, feels kinda strange calling you by your last name though. Almost like calling you a doctor, guess that would be too bad. My grandparents live somewhere west to us, North South Dakota I think. Not sure what city though, I've only seen them once or twice and that had to be nearly a decade ago. Anyway, I guess I should attach a picture, hmm? I like wearing makeup, so just keep in mind, that's not exactly how I look, pretty close though. 

Is it beginning to get cold over there in England? It's constantly raining, and I hoping to get some snow by November or something. I'm never at home to witness the snow-ins. Must be cool for the No-Maj kids to have a wall of snow blocking their doorways though. I can remember one time before I went off to Ilvermorny. School was canceled for nearly a week while they cleared the streets. Oh here's that picture, it was taken about a month ago for Insta. Sorry about that, it was the only decent one I could find that wasn't a selfie.  ⤳

Pranks in the common room? Wow, must be nice. We get the occasional prankster, but they're usually only in their first or second year going through an attention-seeking phase. Gryffindor sounds... aggressive, interesting, I suppose. It's mostly just gossip and homework help in and out of the dorms. Drama dealers, you know? Remind me to stay away from most Gryffindors. I no know you'll steer me in the right direction. Throughout five years, I've probably only seen two fights. Older years during Finals Week and younger years don't mix...

Ooo, pets! I have a tawny owl named Woody (not the character, haha. Just because of its color), but I'm not using him right now you know because of the whole distance thing. I still feel bad about using another owl, but I guess bigger = less likely to collapse? Welp, that didn't make sense, oops. I got him before the start of my third year after saving up for a while.

Dear Amaya,

Isn't there an ongoing joke about North Dakota not existing? I can't really remember it, but I recall someone telling me something about it. Like North and South Dakota aren't real because everyone forgets them- which is 100% relatable. But I've never visited those states, since I don't have any reason to.

Gryffindor isn't really interesting or aggressive, you just have to get used to it. And know a few good hexes and charms along the way, too. Not alot of years fight which each other though, but in the beginning of the year, a boy named Oliver (a third year Ravenclaw) and a boy named Kyle (who's in my year and house) had a huge fight on the first day! We hadn't even gotten into the Great Hall to have the feast, and yet those two were fighting like crazy!

Luckily, a girl named Marla Quinlan who's one of my friends and is a prefect, stopped those two before anything really bad happened. Then me and my two friends, Illowy and Maggie, went into the feast. Super funny, but I was totally ready to fight and seperate both of them.

Anyway, are you excited to come to Hogwarts in October? I know it sounds so crazy and it is- but it's really fun! A lot of the people here are so nice and sweet. I'm sure you guys will fit in just fine!

To be honest, I wouldn't know about the rumors and jokes, it's kind of hard to forget the states that are bordering you, even if it does take some time to remember them. For me the state I always forget is Vermont... or another one (Delaware). Yes, I did have to look them up and I cannot name all 50 of the states, sadly.  

I can definitely learn a few hexes jinxes, like the bubble jinx. It's a willing funny trick to play on siblings, especially when they walk through doors. I mean, we do have fights in the school, but y'know, not in our dorms. Imagine starting a fight on the first day of school, or even throughout the year, I could never! Boys will be boys, I guess, but that's still pretty stupid if you ask me. What was even the reason behind the fight? Did one of them step on the other's shoes or were they fighting for another girl's love heart? Guys like to fight for stupid reasons like that...

Excited is an understatement for how I'm feeling, but I can't think of any sin words that mean the same. I haven't even been in classes for two months and I'm ready to get my summer break on again. Traveling to Hogwarts? Ahh, that's like a dream come true. I'll always wanted to travel out of the country, didn't really care where, just to get out of the States. Have you ever seen Big Ben before? I mean it's kinda a stupid question, but in the states not everyone lives in Massechusetts (pretty sure that's how you spell it..). Such a tiny state for all those wizarding families... scary thought. Massechusetts is like the home of smart people. They've got so many good colleges, but I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore.

Awwww, you're so pretty. I love the little doodles on the photo, way to make everything magical. Probably going to keep it, not in a weird way like that, haha. Like a way to remember you and the trip to Hogwarts? If that makes sense. Why can't October come sooner!! I'm dying of boredom AND anticipation.

I don't entirely remember the reason, but I think it was because some guy yelled at another kid for stinking up the place, and the other kid got all pissy and they just started arguing and then fighting. I don't really know all the details because I was really tired. I slept good that night though!

I've like... visited/touristly seen Big Ben twice, first time with my mom and the second time with my grandmother who was visiting. It was boring both times, if I'm honest. Those touristy places are always boring. London has culture but nothing fun. We have Ice-cream parlors though. And ice-cream makes up for it even though I'm lactose intolerant lol

Are you guys going to be studying here for the two months? Or do you get off the hook for 2 months? Also have you ever even been to a masquerade before? I haven't but I heard its fun, do you think we'll remove the masks like they do in the movies? I kinda hope so!

Aw thank you for the compliment! My friend doodled it and enchanted it so it'd do that, she claims its her big thing lol. She had fun and thats all that matters, right?

Wow, Hogwarts sounds scary. I would have done the same thing, not gonna lie, but in a nicer way? I'm pretty sure there's no good way to tell a person they don't smell good, but you can bait them into stuff. Like hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works? I always stock up on them before the beginning of the school year, it's apart of my 'back to school shopping'. Do you guys have Bath and Body Works in the UK? I wonder if we're going to be able to leave Hogwarts and explore the city. I could definitely bring some and give it to them as a gift. Not the big ones though... those are expensive for someone that doesn't have a job.

What's being lactose intolerant like? I mean, I know you guys get terrible stomach aches from eating anything that contains dairy, but what is it like for you? I didn't really think it was lethal to consume milk and all. Do you still ice cream often and deal with the painful stomach ache? Imagine not being able to eat cheesecake.. that's a scary thought right there.

Honestly, I have no clue? I know we're staying for the month of October, and the whole dance thing. Which reminds me, I should probably bring a dress ot something. Is it going to be a costume contest as well, or just the masquerade... I don't have a costume. The best I can do it my leopard print onesie. Do you happen to have an extra mask? Do all Hogwarts' students have masks? That's kinda strange, kinda like having a glue stick in a suitcase. Okay, weird comparison, but is it true? 

Next letter, I'll probably send a few pictures of the dresses whenever I get the These conversations are so nice! Great to take things old school again and imagine a letter traveling way around the ocean... and actually getting a response!
