Lark's grin widened at Dale's compliment towards her artwork. Another thing she had never heard from someone. It felt good! She felt her stomach rumble slightly again and waited for Dale's response.

"I skipped lunch so I'm a little hungry. Why do you ask?"

Good! It hadn't been a strange question. The girl turned to her bag sitting next to her and rummaged through it a bit, pushing aside an extra quill and her classbook, some erasers and... aha! Turning back to Dale she revealed two sandwiches she had packed. Unsure of what to really bring she had asked a couple of the house elves in the kitchen if she could whip up two different ones in case Dale might not like the other.

"I wasn't sure how long we would be here!" Even if it had only been an hour she had anticipated it taking longer for her to understand anything Potions wise. It had gone so much faster than expected. Which was nice! But also.. well.. she wanted to hang out with Dale for awhile longer. Thankfully she had thought ahead! With her free hand she tugged at a small cloth napkin and set it between the two of them before placing the sandwiches down. Digging back into her bag she pulled out a bottle of water. Her bag hadn't been big enough to bring too, too much but at least one bottle and of course, dessert. Two cookies!

"I hope this is okay." Lark straightened out the corner of the cloth to allow for more room to set the other items down. "I skipped lunch too." She chuckled thinking it funny how similar they both seemed to be.

Neatly placing the food onto the napkin she realized she had only brought the one bottle.. and no cups. She hadn't been thinking about bringing any cups! 'Oh man..' Nervously she hoped that Dale wouldn't be too upset with her mistake. Holding up the bottle of water she gave a sort of gentle laugh. "I forgot cups, sorry! We'll hafta share?"

Dale was a bit confused at first on exactly why Lark had had asked him if he was hungry, sure it was true and Dale did regret missing lunch a little bit, but it all made more sense as he watched Lark put aside her book and quill and look through her bag for something, Dale watched her as she seemingly found what she was looking for, out of her bag she pulled out two sandwiches, from the looks of them one was a BLT and the other was a regular tuna sandwich.

"I wasn't sure how long we would be here!" Lark said to him, he assumed that Lark meant that she would need help faster, and Dale also thought that she would need a bit more help, but he was glad that the help he was able to offer was easy to understand. He watched Lark pull out a small cloth napkin and lay it in between them, she also pulled out a water bottle and two cookies. ”Wow, you really prepared a whole picnic for us!” Dale said excitedly, he eyed the food, the BLT was almost calling him. But he restrained himself, "I hope this is okay." skipped lunch too." Lark said to him,"This is more than enough, thank you for putting this together!" Dake said excitedly, "Although, I feel like your doing this to just try to avoid doing more potions." Dale said with a grin, he really didn't mind even if she was doing this just avoid doing more work, he just happy he could spend a bit more time with Lark. "Well I hope you don't mind if I dig in." Dale said as he grabbed the BLT, he quickly unpacked it and took a bite, almost immediately the small pain, that Dale didn’t even notice until now, disappeared. He continued eating the sandwich, he wondered if Lark had made them herself, it was probably made by the, but still, Dale wondered what Larks cooking tasted like, the imagined one day having another picnic like this, maybe with a bit more food, and maybe then Dale would be less awkward. He was so engrossed in his own thoughts and the food that when Lark told him they would have to share the bottle of water Dale absent-mindedly "It's fine, I don't mind
".

Lark nodded and smiled at Dale's kind words over her having thought ahead.

"Although, I feel like your doing this to just try to avoid doing more potions."

The girl's cheeks flared up in a bright pink color. Waving her hands in front of her and trying to laugh it off she tried to deny any procrastination. "No no! I swear!" She half kidded. If she was being honest a part of her really did want to hold off on anything more for potions at the moment. Her mind felt like it didn't have the attention span to absorb any information for safe keeping. Not at the moment anyway. Though chilly, the day was still too nice to not enjoy the last bits of warm sunshine for the season.

"Well I hope you don't mind if I dig in."

"Of course not! I'm glad I lucked out on picking somethin' you like!" Taking hold of the other sandwich she set one of the extra napkins in her lap and bit into the soft bread, her mouth almost drooling instantly and stomach rumbling once more. Her golden eyes fell to the water stretched out before them a breeze moving ripples along the edge of the lake every so often before rushing through the grass then into the tree above them.

"It seems so peaceful here." Lark mused. She felt like she could sit here in this moment forever. No homework, no frustration, no worrying. "Do you live near water? My parent's house is sort of in a more country side setting.. notta lot of people 'round. There's a small pond down the way from the house but I've only been once."

Lark's mind wandered as she turned to look at Dale, wondering what sort of life he lived outside of Hogwarts. How his family was, how they felt about Hogwarts, just about anything he wanted to share. She wondered if he had attended Muggle school prior to coming here? Her parents had home schooled her but how did that work in the non-magical world? As much as her curiosity was clawing at her insides, she didn't want to come off as rude or pushy wanting to know too much so quick. Dale seemed like a pretty private person and she wouldn't want to scare him off or upset him.

Dale laughed as Lark waved her hands in front of her swearing she wasn't trying to procrastinate. Dale continued eating his sandwich as he ate it he looked over at Lark, she had also begun eating her own sandwich and her cheeks had gone a little pink. Dale thought maybe she was getting a bit cold, he himself felt a bit warm, that was strange since he felt a bit cold when he first came out here, maybe the sun had come out more, they had spent a bit of time out here after all. Dale wondered how long they had been out here, one hour maybe? maybe an hour and thirty minutes, Dale didn't mind much, he had almost nowhere else to go today, but spending time with Lark really made time go by quickly.

"It seems so peaceful here." Lark mused, the words pulled him out of his thoughts, his head was slightly tilted to that right, but it quickly jerked back into its place. "Y-Yeah it really is, the great lake is one of my favorite places to come study and read when the library is too full." Lark asked him if he lived near water "Yes, I live in a seaside resort town that known for its beaches. The countryside has its benefits like there's not a lot of annoying tourists, and hey a small pond is better than nothing." Dale said lightheartedly. Not that he didn't like his town, sometimes Dale wished his family lived in someplace that wasn't a resort town.

Dale wondered about Lark's life outside Hogwarts, did she go to a muggle school, Dale had heard of many people that came out of a muggle school, maybe she had some friends outside of Hogwarts. He was actually a little glad that he didn't have any muggle friends if he did it would be hard to leave them behind. "What was your hometown like? Did you go to a muggle school?"

Lark's eyes widened and twinkled at the thought of Dale's hometown. A resort town! How fancy sounding! "Wow.." she breathed as her imagination ran wild with how the town must look, the tourists that came, adventures to be had, even the events that were possibly held. "True, but Hogwarts is the most traveling I've really done so it sounds pretty amazing compared ta country life." Another smile crossed her lips as her mind danced through beautiful beaches and people enjoying their vacations.

"What was your hometown like? Did you go to a muggle school?"

Shaking her head gently, Lark finished the last of her sandwich and took a swig from the water bottle, turning her head not wanting to embarrass herself if she dribbled any water down her chin.

"No, actually! My parents sort of just did homeschool stuff. I wish I could've gone ta school. It seems like it would be fun ta be 'round others all day." She recalled the small room her father had converted into a little classroom of sorts and an outdoor spot for creatures and plants. "I liked being 'round my parents but just.. I dont know." She wondered how life would have been if she had gone to school. Even met friends like Dale there or what would've happened if she went away to Hogwarts. "I think I really have only been around Muggles a handful of times, honestly." Lark shuffled in her spot. "Everything Muggle wise seems ta interestin' an different though. I cant imagine what life is like without magic." She thought of her mother cleaning around the house with spells, her father outside mixing potions and the wonderful times they all had at family gatherings sharing stories. Do Muggle families do the same but in their own way?

"What 'bout you? The whole Chemistry thing, that was definitely from Muggle school, ya?" Lark turned to face Dale. "What other subjects are there? Seems like it would be rather boring without spells ta practice.. but maybe not." She thought for a moment and blushed. "I'm sorry!" Her voice cracked. "I didn't mean to sound.. I don't mean that it isnt interestin'. Just.. how would that go? Hours sitting in a room with no spells? I'm sure there are topics...well," She stammered as her words seemed to stumble over one another. "Chemistry I mean.." Her face became a deeper shade of red. "Gosh, I just.. I don't mean.. I didn't mean ta sound rude Dale I'm sorry." This whole socializing thing was still something she was getting used to. She hoped she hadn't sounded dismissive about Muggle studies compared to Magical studies, she just had a hard time visualizing how a class would go. Sitting staring at a book you're enjoying reading is one thing, sitting with a text book on..well ahe wasnt sure what topics they studied, but it could be rather dry.. couldn't it? Magical studies had the draw backs in some classes as well. 'Great. Good going..you probably sounded like a typical Pureblood...'

@Lark Flaer
Dale was a little jealous of Lark when she told him that she didn't travel that much, as a child he had to move several times for his dads work, and he had to take a trip almost every year with his mother, because she wanted to get inspiration for her books. All of that combined made it very hard to really make a connection to his “hometown”. Dale imagined Lark running down to the local bakery, or going to the library to pick up some books, maybe even going into the forest to explore. Because his town was a resort town, most of the shops were souvenir shops and there wasn't a single library.

Dale finished the last bite of his sandwich, he was still hungry, but less so. He saw Lark take a drink from the water bottle. He was a little thirsty and he usually didn’t care much about the entire drinking from the same cup thing, but he was starting to mind because he decided to he would just wait to get some water later.

Lark said that she was mostly homeschooled when she was younger, that made sense, most wizard born kids were homeschooled, well he had only really talked to 2 people that were wizard born. She had also said that she would've liked to go to a muggle school, maybe it was his mostly isolated youth that influenced him, but he wished he was homeschooled, he could avoid all of the awkward situations that came with school. ”Maybe it’s just me, but I think the muggle school is overrated, being around people all day long gets really tiring.”

Lark admitted to not being around muggles that much and not knowing much about them, she also said that she found it very interesting, that made Dale feel nice, he felt the same way about the wizarding world. ”Well maybe one day I can answer some of your questions about my world, and maybe you can answer a few of mine about yours.” Dale said with a smile.

"What 'bout you? The whole Chemistry thing, that was definitely from Muggle school, ya? "What other subjects are there? Seems like it would be rather boring without spells ta practice.. but maybe not." Before Dale could answer Lark apologized "I didn't mean to sound.. I don't mean that it isnt interestin'. Just.. how would that go? Hours sitting in a room with no spells? I'm sure there are topics...well," Dale wasn't at all offended by what she said, he actually agreed with her, muggle school was very boring, well at least for Dale. ”No no! I agree with you, muggle school is pretty boring.” ”Chemistry is something I learned from my father, its like… the potions of the muggle world, but a little more complicated.” Dale was sure he was the only person his age who had such a huge interest in something a lot of people his age found boring. ”And in the way of subjects, we have things like English, maths, and history. If you want I could tell you more about it another day?”

Breathing a sign of relief, Lark gave a small smile. She was glad she hadn't offended him. It was certainly not her intention and was thankful Dale was kind enough to understand where she was coming from.

”Chemistry is something I learned from my father, its like… the potions of the muggle world, but a little more complicated.”

Lark nodded, remembering he had spoken similarly before about Chemistry. She wondered just how many subjects the Muggle schools had that were along the same lines as Hogwarts. Dale explained there was also things like History.. wait English really? They had to TEACH English? Strange.. Lark wondered what that would involve. Perhaps it was more of a writing class or reading.. reading... Lark jolted upright.

"Oh no!" She turned to look at Dale and gave a nervous laugh. "I completely forgot about readin' for History of Magic that's due!" She couldn't believe she hadn't thought of it sooner. Normally she was good about budgeting all of her time but things with Dale had been going so well she pushed aside her plans to read so she could meet up with him and lost track of time. Starting to pick up the little picnic they had of sorts, Lark put away from of the napkins in her bag and other bits of garbage to toss in the rubbish once she was inside.

"I'm sorry Dale! Wish I could stay out here longer with you." Lark groaned at the thought of having to spend the night cooped up inside the Common Room reading. Not that she minded it but she had other things on her mind now that seemed much more interesting. A small voice in the back of her head scolded her for not finishing the reading ahead of time like she normally would. She looked at the boy longingly, taking a moment to pause tidying up their spot. "I really can't thank ya enough for all the help." Normally she would go in for a hug of sorts as a way of saying goodbye with her friends but.. even if Dale was a friend she felt a flurry of butterflies swirl in her stomach at the idea of being any closer to the boy. She wasn't even sure if he would find it awkward, having met a couple others at school made her more conscious of people and their personal space. Still, a part of her had to resist the urge to wrap her arms around Dale not knowing how else to express her appreciation.

"We should.. hang out again." Lark's voice wavered a bit, unsure of herself. She wouldn't mind spending time with him again and certainly hoped they could. Even if it was just doing homework, anything really.

After any shared goodbyes Lark would wish him a great rest of the day, give him the best smile she could muster and give a sort of head nod in thanks before heading back towards the castle. A blush burning brightly across her cheeks and giggle threatening to give her away as a warmth spread over her the image of Dale's tousled brown hair and smile replaying over and over in her thoughts.
