Dear, River Dewlight
Hello, my names Hunter, it looks like I'm going to be sending you some letters for the next few months which I hope doesn't bother you too much. I know a little bit about Hogwarts and its houses but not enough to really tell the difference between them.
I'm in Thunderbird which I guess makes me adventurous, what house are you in? I'm from New York, born during winter. What about you? Where are you from?
Sorry if this sorta sucks, I'm horrible at writing letters to people especially people who I've never talked to before.
I mean I do send letters to my parents but it seems different writing to someone I haven't met before, I don't want to scare you off or make it seem like I'm a total idiot who cant keep a straight thought for a paragraph.
Anyways, my teachers encouraged me to ask a few questions so this might get annoying real fast.
Where were you born? Are your parent's wizards? What do you like to do in your free time? Do you have a favorite class? What's your best subject? Ugh, boring questions I know, but hey you get to ask them right back if you want.
I might end this here, only because I've run out of interesting things to say write and you probably don't need any more questions to have to try and answer.
Until next time, Hunter Reys

Dear Hunter
Hi, I’m River, but you probably already knew that. I imagine it will be quite pleasant, writing letters to you through the near future. And do not worry, it doesn’t bother me a single bit, why on earth would it?
The houses of Hogwarts are relatively simple to characterize,
Ravenclaw(my house): the brains
Slytherin: the cunning
Gryffindor: the brave
Hufflepuff: the fair and loyal.
Now of course, those are just stereotypes, but still a nice little guideline.
I’m sorry if these letters turn out a little, well, ‘not great’. I relate to what you wrote about sending letters to people you don’t know, but still it is strange, because your name reminds me of someone I knew so very well once.
Anyhow, the questions you asked were very creative. Seems like you decided that diving deep was a good first move (I’m joking). Well, I am born and mostly raised in Norway, though I’ve been living in England these past few years. I’m half-blood, my father is a wizard, but my mother is not, and my mother is my tie to Norway, father is from England. How is your connection to the magical world? And where did you grow up?
My free time is mostly filled with homework upon homework, but when I don’t have any, I like to dance, or spend time with my let owl, his name is Sir Little-Hoot. Do you have any special activities in scool to fill you free time? And are pets even allowed in Ilvermorny?
Finally, my favourite subject is defense against the dark arts. It’s such a fascinating subject all around, and I do also really enjoy potions a lot. It’s almost like cooking, just more action and danger.
Do you have those same classes as we do? Or maybe you have some new exciting ones, that I’ve never heard of? I don’t really know, but I am excited to hear more about how it is across the seas.
It was very nice to begin writing to you, and I am looking forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Curiosity Killed the

Dear River,
Yeah, I'm not the most creative person when it comes to conversations. If you don't mind me asking, who does my name remind you of? I can't say I've ever met someone with the name River but I like your name, it's very nice.
I grew up in Queens, New York. There's no avoiding the No-majs in such a big city but since I've started to go to Ilvermorny I haven't really talked to any. I used to know a few but now I've fallen completely out of touch with them. It's kinda weird now that I'm thinking about it. What about you? You guys call them muggles which I find a little funny, but what do you think about them? I know your mom's a muggle but even some of the half-bloods around here don't talk to their old friends.
I spend most of my free time writing music, I play guitar when I can I've noticed playing helps me when I'm stressed or angry which is becoming more and more helpful these days. We are allowed to have pets here but only the approved ones, no horses or parrots obviously. I don't have a pet, there wouldn't be any room for it in the apartment on holidays so I'd rather just use the school's owls than go through the trouble of figuring out where to put it.
I know some people dance because its a way to express themselves, sorta like me and my music. Is dancing like that for you?
Anyways, Ilvermorny has pretty much the same subjects as Hogwarts, we have DADA too along with Transfiguration and Potions amongst others. I actually prefer potions out of all of the classes, it just seems to come easier to me than the others. DADA is cool and all but it kicks my butt, at the end of the day it takes a lot more work than it might for some people.
I guess I won't really know if the classes are different unless I've experienced them, maybe it's just the teacher that's making it difficult on me? Do you have any classes like that?

Hello again Hunter
First of all, I would like to apologize for the slight delay of this letter, as me and my owl have been having some companion issues. I did stock up on more of his favourite treats now, so this should not be an issue for future letters. We are thankfully on good terms once more.
Oh right, your name. It just reminds me of my brother, as he has the same name as you do, but that is not of any importance. What is important, is that you will be traveling here in a while, I do hope you are looking forward to it. I am for sure excited to see some new faces around this place.
Do you not have any connection to muggles at all now? I still know a few, but mostly I speak with witches and wizards. I have nothing against muggles though, as some of the others here do. There are a few people who really put muggles in a bad light, and muggle borns as well. I just do not see why it is necessary.
I can imagine muggle is a strange word, I never really thought about it though, as I have heard it so much through my life. In my opinion, muggle is a bit more creative than No-Maj (please do not take it personally).
It is very cool that you like to write music, it would be really cool to hear it sometime. And yes, dancing seems to be quite like you are explaining your relationship to music. It is a way to get a break from all the fuss that goes on in the outside world. It is just you, and the music, everything goes calm and quiet for a bit.
I guess it would make sense to teach the students the same spells no matter where they are from in the world. That would obviously mean that the classes would also be pretty similar. I wonder if you will be joining our classes while you are here, or is you will just take it as a sort of holiday trip sort of thing.
Well, I have to run. Have herbology stuff to do.
