What's the meaning of being lonely?
She was feeling so odd, like she didn't belong anywhere. She was the only one in three generations of Ravenclaws to get sorted into another House. She felt like she was the disgrace of the family - the only one who didn't make it. She always knew she was different from the people around her (of course all her friends were calling her "the weird one" for a reason), but it never once crossed her mind that she wouldn't be a Ravenclaw too.
She knew every little detail of the Ravenclaw's common room, because some nights, when she couldn't sleep, she would ask her grandfather to describe it to her once more. She would ask about the colours of the walls, the fabrics of the curtains and cushions, how soft they were, if the floor was cold or warm...she wanted to be able to imagine herself wandering around that room, talking to people the same as her - ambitious, intelligent kids. She just wanted to feel like she belongs somewhere, but maybe that's just a luxury, maybe people are supposed to feel alone, in order not to get distracted and to achieve their goals easier. After all, the Sorting Hat told her "you might not be aware of it yet, but you want something else - something you won't be able find in the Ravenclaw House" .
She just needed some time to gather her thoughts. She needed the strength to go and write a letter to her grandparents and tell them she was not the granddaughter they always thought she was. But how was she supposed to do that? ' Ok, I'm gonna think about this tomorrow. At the moment, I should just enjoy the last days of autumn and think of how I am supposed to make friends here, when my english is not that good, my accent sounds like I've just moved here from an ex-communist country - which in fact I did - and I only know how to interract with cats... This sounds like the beginning of a low-budget comedy movie'.
She was pretty straightforward and science oriented, so she wouldn't be able to describe every little detail of the space around her, she just knew she was low key enjoying it. The weather was actually nice in terms of British standards and the slightly wet grass beneath her reminded her of her childhood and how she would read Herbology books in her grandparents' yard whenever she felt like she was spending way too much time inside the house. Even though she thought of herself as a solitary 11 years old, she really liked hearing the soft murmur of the people around her. Everyone was laughing, talking loudly, dancing and jumping around. She even saw two students kissing somewhere closer to the the Great Lake's shore, which made her feel a little bit awkward. It was the first time she saw something like that in real life. Somehow, she envied them for how happy they were and how easy it was for all of the people there to actually enjoy life. She was sure that there was a lively person living inside of her, somewhere, but the question is - where?

What's the meaning of being lonely?
Rhea was taking a small walk along the Great Lake, someplace she found herself often nowadays. She walked closer to the edge of the water and bent down, skimming her fingers across the surface. She picked up a small flat rock and attempted to skip it across the water. She got three before it sank to the bottom of the lake.
Then she noticed a small, redheaded girl, simply looking out at the lake. Rhea immediately knew that something had to be wrong, guessing simply by the expression on the girl's face. Rhea thought that although the girl would probably prefer to be alone, it would be best if she talked to someone. And that someone would be Rhea.
Rhea approached where the girl was sitting, planting herself a few centimeters away from her. She turned to look at the girl. Up close, the girl looked a bit more devastated. She had long, straight, reddish orange hair, and in the fading light Rhea guessed the girl's eyes were a greyish blue. She turned to look at the girl and smiled gently at her.
"My name's Rhea. And I know we just met, but I can see you feel bad about something. I don't really know how much I can help, but what's wrong?" Rhea hated seeing people sad, and knew that if she ever saw someone who was in pain, then she would help them. It was just the way she worked. As her parents never gave a crap about her, she knew what it felt like to be ignored. So, she would make sure that no one would feel that way, not in her power.

the trouble is, if you don't risk anything -- you risk more.
