Kyle continued to laugh as San rolled off him and lay on the grass beside him, them both wet now, Though Kyle wasnt Shivering. Ever since he had become a werewolf it seemed like his blood ran hot, it took extreme colds to get him to shiver and be uncomfortable. He propped himself up on his elbows and looked over at her as she suddenly started blurting out questions rapid fire. "Geeze Muppet. Take a damned breath" he chuckled and shook his head. What was this about about a ball? the last one he went to Kyle smashed a large bowl on punch on the ground. He was sure if he showed up to a party he would be forced out, or shunned completely. "Uh sure you can have my scarf, I dont wear the thing. Scarves are lame...And I dont know nothin' about dresses. Why dont you ask a girl to do it"

Speak of the devil another girl arrived as if on Cue. "Are we alright? I was just mauled by a mer-person! look at her hideous Gills! dont just stand there, help!" he let out an exaggerated shriek that died off into spasm as he flailed his arms and then proceeded to play dead, Punctuated by his tongue hanging out of his mouth.

San beamed when he said she could have his scarf. “Because you’re my b-best friend and I know you will t-tell me the truth if something makes me look hideous I trust you more than anyone else that I know here.” Her shivvering seemed to be getting a bit less as her body heat started to stave off the cold. It was no exaggeration either other girls were more than willing to tell females that a terrible dress looked great and would convince her to wear something like that just to make her look terrible. It was something she had watched her grandmother do to other women on many occasions even sometimes to her own mother. Kyle, on the other hand, would be honest with her because he respected her.

When he spoke to the girl about being attacked by a mer-person San stared at him incredulously as he now decided to play dead like the biggest goofball she had ever seen. She would shake her head softly with a smile. Santario would now turn her sharp sapphire eyes to the girl who had approached them a polite smile replaced the one previously on her face. “We were just playing around, but I appreciate the concern.” An overly formal tone overtook her silvery voice when she spoke to the girl and it shared no relation to the way she had spoken to Kyle only moments before. It wasn’t angry or hostile in any way nor was she attempting to give off the impression that she wanted this other girl to leave. Her demeanor was now just formal and polite, some might say a little stoic as well.

Catriona found herself laughing a little at the Gryffindor boy's antics. They seemed friendly enough, though the girl was a shade more polite than the boy was. "No problem," Catriona said, smiling at the girl. "And I'm afraid I don't know much about fighting mer-people," she said, turning to the boy, now. "I might just have to leave you at her mercy."

She weighed wether or not the two would take kindly to her sitting down with them. They seemed friendly enough and Catriona had met enough of her mother's pureblood friends to know that the girl's formality wasn't covering up any hostility. Unless she was just a really good actress... but then again, why would she pretend to like Catriona?

Sighing, Catriona shook her head minutely, as if physically shaking off her overthinking. She might as well sit down. It wasn't like she could just go back to her book now that she'd met these two.

"But I won't, because I'm nice," she said, completing her thought from before. "I'm Catriona Staverly. Pleased to meet you both." She sat down and stuck out her hand, before thinking better of it and pulling it back. "What brings you to this fine lake," she said, waving her hand over said lake, "and why are you covered in its contents?" She smirked, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Did the mermaid drag you in?" she said, nudging her head in the girl's direction. She hoped the girl wouldn't take offense (though if she did, the giant squid was still a very viable option).

Kyle heard the fun and light leave his friends voice as it was replaced with robotic politeness. and a soft fake smile. he was taken back to any number of dusty offices with ministry officials talking to him about how they "understood" what it must be like being a werewolf so young and how despite the hardships he "had friends" in the ministry. The same people who made sure not to touch him when he walked past them and held books or papers as shields when his eyes met theirs. His laughter and fun seemed to die away almost instantly. Before when she was nervous to sit at the table with him he assumed it was because it was the Gryffindor table...but now with her demenour changing so radically cause someone saw them together he figured he knew what it really was. She was embarassed by him. After all, he was Kyle the Bully. Kyle the party killer. ...Kyle the Rabid animal. Why would she want people to know she was friends with him. may as well try to play it off like they werent having that good of a time. Afterall, she was well dressed and well spoken. He was a mess on a good day.

Kyle pushed himself to his feet and ruffled his hair and cleared his throat. "Yeah I just came here to push this loser in Lake. Threw in a hufflesnuff last year. Gonna toss a Bird nerd in there too so you better keep your distance" his demeanor had changed radically, he almost seemed like a wolf whose hackles had raised aggressively, his voice coming across as rumbling growl. He shoved his hands in his pockets as he grinded his teeth a few times and began to walk away from the two girls "I gotta get to Quidditch practice"

Kyle’s demeanor changed and it was immediately noticed by her. She had never seen him act that way before, but then again, they had never been around other people before. Besides just that once at the Gryffindor table. Was that out of pity? Clearly, he was the one that did not want to be seen with her, calling her a loser? Where was this coming from? When did he push a Hufflepuff into the lake? She was confused and deeply hurt. He’s right, why would he want to be seen around a socially awkward Slytherin first-year girl? She had just told him that he was the person that she trusted the most here and now he was leaving… Did she go too far? She knew she didn’t completely understand friendship but now she was severely second-guessing everything that she did know. She was such a stupid and foolish girl and he had just shown her that.

None of this would register on her face if anything she was a master at hiding her emotions and burying them deep down inside of her. “Later.” Looking back over to the girl who had joined them. “He’s the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain so a pretty busy guy. I’m Santario and it is a pleasure to meet you.” Covering for his attitude change regardless of how she felt about the whole situation because no matter what he had still wormed his way under her skin. Which made his bite sting just all the more. To normal people, they would just see her as somewhat overly formal. “I’m on the Slytherin Quidditch team and I teased him about possibly whooping them. So he pushed me into the lake. I probably would have done the same to him. So Catriona how do you like it here so far?” She asked changing the subject not wanting to talk about Rook anymore and pushing those emotions down as deep and as far as they would go because it would be bad manners to start crying in front of this girl.

Catriona was startled at how quickly the boy's expression changed. It was like one moment he was fine and the next he'd closed himself off completely. She barely registered what he'd said as he began to walk away from the two of them. Had she done something? Whatever happened, she needed to fix it. She needed to...

The other girl started talking and Catriona was pulled from her thoughts quite abruptly. "Nice to meet you Santario," she said, smiling briefly at the other girl. "I uh..." She stole another glance at the boy who was steadily getting further and further away. Should she go after him? He'd looked upset. On edge. She wanted to fix it, but she didn't know how.

There were two choices here. Stay with Santario or go after the Gryffindor. Merlin, she hated making impulse decisions. Things were so much better when she had time to think things through. Time to figure out the best path where the least number of people got hurt. The boy was getting farther away.

She made her decision. Now she just needed an excuse.

"Excuse me for a moment," she said to Santario. "I think I left my book around here somewhere. It was about dragons, very interesting."

She started walking away before she could go on a full fledged tangent. She reached the Gryffindor boy in no time, trying to look as casual as possible as she approached him. "I didn't catch your name and I wanted to ask before you left," she said, panting slightly. "Also please don't throw me into the lake. I just cleaned my socks from the last time that happened."
If you want to leave you still can, Kyle, I just wanted Cat to know your name IG at least. Sorry for dragging you back in the thread lol

Kyle was stalking away, running through circles in his head getting angrier and angrier with each step. He didn't know why he bothered trying to make a friend, especially not what happened over the summer. Anyone that got close to him was going to get hurt, Honestly it was selfish of him to try and make more friends. it had only been a few short months and he was already trying to replace Duke...Could he be more of an Ass?

He took a deep breath and before he could exhale he heard someone running after him. He closed his eyes and let out the breath in a slow seethe before he turned on the person sharply "Listen San- he started angrily but then he realized it wasn't the Slytherin but instead the Ravenclaw girl that had shown up out of nowhere. She wanted to know his name? Really? how many Gryffindor's with face scars were there? With as many people he hit with spells, punched, threw around and generally harassed he was surprised there was anyone who wasn't warned to avoid this particular Gryffindor. He rubbed his face and let out an exasperated sigh "I'm DeRook alright? and if you, and that muppet on the beach know whats good for you you'll keep your distance. All I do is Hurt people, and your lucky I'm not in the mood to right now" he pushed past her and continued to stalk away

The girl looked in the direction that Kyle had stalked off in far too often for San to believe her lie. The girl ran off in the same direction did she think Santario was an idiot? So many things ran through her anger, hurt, and even a bit of jealousy as she imagined Rook accepting that girl as his friend instead of her. Maybe it was for the best she was just too awkward. She was just more suited to play games of political intrigue than she was to make friends her own age. Her hands balled into fists as her eyes started to fill up with tears. She couldn’t bottle it down anymore it was just too much to handle. She slowly pushed herself to her feet shaking slightly as tears started pouring down her face.

She had to go passed them to get to the castle and she couldn’t walk passed them like this so what did she do? She used her long legs to run, she needed to get back to her dorm as fast as she could. As she got closer to where the two now where she knew she had been right about the girl’s lie and although she didn’t want either of them to know that she was crying she couldn’t help but look at them tears streaming down her face, sapphire eyes already ringed with red, and a soft sob escaping her lips. A hand flew to her face to stifle the rest of them that threatened to over take her she ran as fast as she could and would not stop until she was in her dorm room where she could be alone.
