The book of friendship Pv

It was a quiet day in the library the perfect setting for a day spent doing homework and reading. Late afternoon Kora had chosen to start reading a book on merpeople and their habits of living, it had seemed a great choice before the words started to jumble together in a sleepy type of way, she felt her eyelids close and her head droop.
No snap out of this it’s fine just move on to your DADA homework she told herself taking a deep breath before shutting her book and reaching down into her satchel to grab her textbook, a roll of parchment, her quill and a pot of ink slowly she started her work.
After a few minutes Kora started her work the quill scratching on the parchment soon enough a good 2 paragraphs had been written her fingertips dotted with ink.
Stretching back in her chair she examined her work rereading and crossing out the unnecessary words or sentence. Once she had finished and checked the ink was dry Kora rolled up the parchment sliding it back into her bag along with the other things she had taken out.
After a pause she thought to herself about what she could do now I could take a quick nap or I could finish that book hm slowly she made up her mind reaching for the book hand clasping around it and flipping to the page she had been on before carrying on her reading.

The book of friendship Pv
Slowly wandering in the long corridors of the castle, Dove didn't have to think of where to go, since her legs were mooving on their own to guide her to the library, her favorite place of hogwarts. It was such a silent room, perfect to study, read, or just be in our thoughts in this calmy place. She was holding her backpack with her left hand while entering, still amazed by the height of all the bookshelves, and the diversity of these papers : she definitly could spend all her hogwarts's days in here. However, she couldn't just walk between the bookshelves, she had to work on her Herbology homework. She found an empty table, perfect for her to focus without being disturbed by potential table neighbours. It was kind a cliché of the Ravenclaw house, but Dove loved to work, and this aesthetic of being in this brown library felt like a dream. She was always early in her work, which was best for her to have some free time. Holding her feather in one hand, and her herbology book in the other, she was in the perfect conditions to start what she had to do.
She may have written for almost an hour straight, when she finally finished her assignment. Even if it felt good knowing she had now nothing to do, not stopping during her work time tired her, and now she needed to rest. But what could she do ? She finished all her homework, and had no current book to read. When she thought of that, a light bulb just lighten above her head : she put all of her stuff into her bag, and started searching for a new book. Even though she was reading different book's names for about fifteen minutes, nothing seemed to please her, and she was strating to feel observed by every one, which was obviously not the case, so she took one randomly an took a seat at the first table she saw, without looking around her. However, she hadn't seen the brown haired girl sitting at the table as her. Dove didn't dare to moove, so she just stayed there, opening her book. She wasn't concentrated enough to read though, so she just put her head on her arms and closed her eyes.

It wasnt that the girl was bothering Kora it was that it was how she looked like she wanted to sleep did, the library wasnt the most comfy if you didnt have what she liked to call 'the nap kit'. The nap kit or T.N.K for short was the main itums you needed to have a nap a anywhere that might prove uncomfy otherwise aka the library. Kora had writen down the things you needed in the beginging of the creation of the kit but now she had it memorised it was in no use to her meaning it was time to pass it on to anothor soul who needed it.
Slipping the note out she read it making sure it was all there she couldnt have it being half complite.
  • Spare jumper (for your head)
  • Spare cloak (for a blanket)
  • A note saying Do NOT Wake
  • Anything to block out noise (e.g. ear plugs)
Yes its all there now lets go give it to that girl over there she might find it useful she told herself standing slowly making her way over to the girl standing to her right before tapping her shoulder to get her attention and stuttering out,

"h-hello yes um you look a little sleepy and i uh have a T.N.K its um a nap kit list and um i was hoping you might find it useful"

Even if she wasn't really sleeping, closing her eyes made Dove enter in some weird phase where she would be lost if someone tried to "wake" her up, hence her semi closed eyes, and her face that looked like she came from the dead when she noticed someone tapping her shoulder and that she needed to raise her head to see who it was. The first things she noticed were the girls'brown eyes who were looking at her, and then her mouth, that seemed to be saying something. Oh, I should probably listen she thought to herself. And all she had heard was the end of the other girl sentence. A nap kit ? What is she talking about ? But Dove didn't have the clearest mind to think of what was happening, so the only thing she could say, and "say" was not the most appropriate word since her throat was so dry, was a simply "Hum, thank you, I'll read that."
She even forgot to smile, she was definitly not prepared to that. She slowly opened the paper given to her, and read it, with her currently abilities. Dove couldn't prevent her smile to appear on her lips, the tips for the best nap ever could have been very efficient if... well she knew what she needed before because she currently had nothing with her.
Now that her throat wasn't dry anymore, she decided to talk directly to girl girl in front of her, whom she still didn't know the name by the way.
"Your tips are really cool, and it's nice of you to have shared it with me, but I only rested to get concentrated."
Though, after saying that, she took a look again at the paper, to memorize all the stuff written in it, so she could remember it for later.
"By the way, I don't even know your name. I'm Dove, what about you ?"

It was interesting to see someone so sleepy but still be able to hold a sort of conveosation. The thought of having an idea that someone might yse exited Kora just a little but it was somthing. Carefuly she took a seat next to the girl placing her book bag on the floor next to her chair.

"Im Kora nice to meet you Dove. Its quite odd for someone to take a nap to get concentrated thought that might just be my opinuion."

At the closer look the girl didnt seem to look tired no she looked more like a cat dozing in the sun when its mid summer, this made Kora think of her cat back home and how it had been a while since she last saw him. No dont get side traked keep the convosation going she told herself even if the idea made her chest tight.

Talking to people scared Kora, not the same type of scared like when someone jumps out at you but the type of scared that made you overthink and worry of all the outcomes.

"So what brings you the library?"

Simple enough question to start off with hopefuly it didnt seem to offputting for any further convosation.

After asking for the unknown girl's name, Dove simply watched her taking a seat near her, before responding to her question. Mmh, Kora's opinion made her frown. All inside of her, she thought the short-haired girl 'opinion' was a bit too comfortable to someone you just met, especially since Dove must have expressed herself wrong, so she tried to correct it after Kora's second question :
"I think we misunderstood eachother, I wasn't concentrated enough due to fatigue, so I wanted to rest for a bit."
She finished her sentence while laughing softly, first of all because she found this kind of situations a bit awkward and her way to escape it was always a laugh, but she also tried to be discret, since they were in the library, surrounded by people who must be working.
"Oh hum, and I originaly came her to read, as you can see" She pointed her book with her index finger.
She realised that she still didn't know the story of this novel, since she took it randomly. And now that she told Kora she went to the library to read, she was surely thinking Dove knew it, so she just hoped the brown-haired girl wouldn't ask her any question about the story.
"What about you ?"

Kora blinked had she just fumbled with this interation oh god she had she really had. It came rushing over her like a tsunami the damb had broken and all the pent up nerves and overthinking that she had been trying to keep back was pulling her down, its claws dug into her and she felt it start to drown her.

"oh im sorry i didnt think- sorry im not really that good at this sort of thing i was just trying to help"

Her words felt forced with calmness but very slowly she noticed that Dove didnt seem to be acting like she had offended her in anyway or annoyed at the misinterpretation Dove seemed unfased in a way it was cooling to the heat that was embaressment.

"oh um i come here a lot to mostly read but uh today i guess it was for homework"

This is fine just breathe just breathe her mind repeated the same words over and over until the panic from before faded to almost nothing, back to its normal level. Kora glanced around trying to look at anything that wasnt Dove, it wasnt to be rude or impolite it was to keep herself from slipping back under the watery grave that is anxiaty's dark grip

Nodding what Kora said about her reasons of spending time at the library, Dove noticed an unusual voice, it wasn't the same as when she proposed the nap kit list. However, this behaviour continued after Kora's sentence. Indeed, she seemed to have the need of controling her breathing or something. It didn't last very long, but Dove started to ask herself numerous questions. She may, or must have said something that could have been mean. She nkew she could have an aggressive voice sometimes, of course it wasn't meant to be, but a stranger, which was not anymore but they still met for less than an hour, couldn't know that. The assumption of Dove being impressive didn't even come to her mind, since she was as small as a tadpole. Fortunatly, Kora seemed to feel better, so Dove calmed herself too and opened her book, so she could finally start what she originaly came here, which is open her book and read it. But after a few minutes, she realised she wouldn't enjoy the reading of this novel, so she closed it, stood up, and whispered to Kora :
"I'm going to take another book, I don't like this one. I won't be long."
Was it her imagination or did Kora not look at her at all ? Even if they met today, it pinched her heart a bit, but she decided not to take it into account and went, another time, wandering between the huge shelves, enjoying the old book's smells, putting her old book into its original place, which had been uselessly empty during this time, and continuing her way so she could find her happiness.
She came back really quicly, not even five minutes after she left, glad she found what seemed to be a good novel, but she didn't dare to share it with Kora, she seemed to be avoinding her or something. Dove hoped she wasn't, but just to be sure, she asked her :
"You don't seem alright, are you okay ? Would you like me to bring you something ? Don't worry I wouldn't mind about it."

It never really occurred to Kora that other people might actually notice when she's struggling with social anxiety it was always something she assumed that only affected her not the people around her, was that a selfish way to think? maybe but for once someone had actually noticed someone had asked and oh god why did it make things worse.

"Yes I'm fine just need a moment i get like this a lot around people its what they call social anxiety or something sorry if its bothering you"

This wasn't going to be about her no not at all this wasn't going to be like any other interaction this time she wouldn't make a fool of herself. She took a deep breath and then another and another up until her heart seemed to slow and everything seemed to clear. For once it was easy to clear the unease she felt around people it felt so good to feel like this like the buzz you get from helping someone or doing something useful.

"You mentioned something about a new book did you find one?"

Was that question to try and make everything better? yes was it also because she actually wanted to know? also yes nothing interested Kora more than finding out what other people like to read.

Dove was ready to stand up, go to the hospital wing or at least accompany Kora to her common room, but the girl's answer made her feel like she couldn't leave her seat, like she was holding something to big on her shoulders to move. The Ravenclaw girl had always been a bit shy, but she never had anxiety issues, of known someone who had some. She didn't know how to react, but she should say something, or it would be very awkward, and make things even worse.

"Don't worry, it's not bothering me at all." She said with a smily face, hoping inside of her Kora would feel better. Because what's the point of going into the library, the most calmy and relaxing place if it's to feel bad ? Maybe it was a bit, or more, Dove's fault, even if she hoped not. But after all, she was the one to respond quite curtly. Fortunatly, when Kora asked her about her chosen book, she could feel a tiny weight into her stomach disapear. Talking about books was the best way to make connections with other people.

"Yes actually. It's a detective novel, I don't know the whole story yet, but the book cover looks nice."

She looked at it. It was actually quite sober, but the book gave off some old and mysterious vibe, with this dark green lether cover, and its gold cursvive writings. Then, she thought of idea, and slightly pushed her book towards Kora.

"You can read the summary if you want."
