Hufflepuff
Today was the day for the Hufflepuff Pride party that Marian and some friends arranged. So she had spent pretty much all day yesterday digging through her stuff, looking for anything yellow or that could easily be made yellow. Then she met in the common room with some other huffles,  and they started heaving hoards of stuff- fabric, paper, food, (and of course Marian brought her Doritos), anything a party might need- up three flights of stairs to the ballroom.
As you could imagine, this took a great deal of walking, running, heavy lifting, and sweating. So Marian was obviously not wearing her formal outfit yet, instead wearing a simple blue robe with planets, comets, and paint splatters all over.
This was probably the first party she had hosted while she was at Hogwarts. Well, she wasn't quite hosting it, but it was her idea to have it in the ballroom. And now she was regretting that decision. She stayed at the ballroom and started decorating while others were still bringing stuff up. Marian set the snacks at one table, and opened another table for snacks that might come. She opened the bag of Doritos, and snitched a couple, licking her fingers as to hide the evidence.
At last she heard that everything was here. It was time to get crazy serious.

@Marian Lynch No worries, I'll just hop right in. Also wow you mention a bunch of people, this shall be fun!

Annie tapped her chin in thought before she shrugged and made her way up the many flights of stairs to the ballroom. A few posters had been added to the bulletin board about some Hufflepuff party that was happening later tonight. The girl caught her breath before she opened one of the massive doors to the ballroom. She saw a girl hurrying to and fro in the big space, looking quite dazed.

Annie cleared her throat before approaching the girl. "Are you Marian Lynch? I saw one of the posters for the party that is held tonight and I thought you might like a helping hand before too many guest arrive?" A small smile slipped onto her face as she observed the flustered the girl, waiting for a response. The Hufflepuff glanced around the room at some decorations the other girl began to set up. "Oh wow that's a lot of decorations, I'm sure it'll look amaxing by the time everything gets up."

Annie glanced at the clock and slightly flinched. It would have been better if they decided to start earlier, or if the girl had gotten more help. She shrugged and put her hair up into a messy bun and rolled up her sleeves. Alright, let's get to work then hm?"

Duna was jittery with excitement as she quickly made her way down the hall to the ballroom. She had been invited to a party! A real party with decorations and dancing and people and music and... Duna was getting ahead of herself. She’d never been to an official party before, and was very excited to attend her first.

Duna knew she would arrive way earlier than the party starts, but she couldn’t sit anxiously in her dorm any longer, making friendship bracelets. She had gotten ready into one of the only fancy dresses she had brought with her. It was a white dress top with a frilly pastel pink tool bottom. The straps looked like horse ears and on the white top there were two closed eyes. She wore a small unicorn horn headband to match. Duna was pretty sure she was overdressed, but she didn’t care.

When she arrived there were only two other people there. They seemed to still be setting up. Overjoyed at the opportunity to help Duna quickly bounded over to the nearest Hufflepuff and signed, “Do you need help?” She glanced around at the snack table and wonderful yellow decorations. Duna looked down at her dress, should she had worn more yellow too?

Carson pushed the door of the ballroom open with his foot, leaning onto it so the heavy wood would swing open. It gave way much more easily than he’d expected, however, and he stumbled a bit as he backed into the room.

He gripped the box of supplies in his arms more tightly, regaining his balance as quickly as he could. He turned, expecting to see Marian standing somewhere in the room. She was, too, but so were two others.

“Hey.” he greeted, looking towards the two girls curiously. He recognized Annie Morgan, she was on the Quidditch team with him and he’d talked to her over the summer. The other girl Carson thought he vaguely recognized, she’d probably been at Maggie’s last party.

“I’m Carson. I’d uh— I’d shake your hand, but...” he trailed off, laughing a bit as he joked. He heaved the supplies over to the pile Marian had made, dropping the box loudly and wincing slightly when it just barely missed his foot.

“That’s the last of it, I think.” he commented, looking towards Marian expectantly. “So, what’s the plan?”

He glanced towards the girl he didn’t know the name of— she wore a fancy pink dress his little sister would’ve absolutely drooled over. Marian, however, wore a pretty casual outfit— so did Annie. Looking down towards his hoodie and athletic shorts, he raised an inquisitive eyebrow.

“Should I change or something?”

It was natural to pitch in, so he did so and brought the remaining things up to the ballroom. He had gotten distracted for a bit though, having stopped to chat with another student for a few minutes. Since he got back to Hogwarts, he was doing his best to jump into the school's scene again.

Family affairs had clouded his mind so much over the summer that it only made him feel heavy. But when he got back to Hogwarts, the magic filled the gaps shot in his conscience by the events during summer. This party was just what he needed, a boost in morale when all he seemed to want to do was get upset at every small thing.

Reid had the loyalty and hard working nature of a Hufflepuff, but the patience and everything else was a work in progress. He was growing up, the naivety was setting in with an eye for reality. It was a little ugly, the truth was grittier and harder to swallow than he imagined, this summer was the start of that. But he tried to preserve the parts he liked the most, forming a sentimental chain to certain things and people subconsciously.

This house was one of those and it might sound a little odd, but he was willing to do more for his fellow house mates than just carry some boxes. Reid found himself pushing the door open with his back and craned his head over the boxes he had. "Did you guys need anything else aside from this?"

He was here as a prefect aside for just the sake of the house, he wanted to keep the peace. Rarely did things get crazy as it did back then, but he wanted to be sure that the ballroom was left the same way they came to it, clean.

Asteria had seen the flyer for the party, tacked up in the Common Room and had filed it in the back of her mind. She was glaringly aware of how few people she really knew in her house; maybe this would be way to know more of them? Which was why she was here, bouncing up and down on her heels, psyching herself up to push open the door and enter the room. As her dad had said, it was better to be early than late, so here she was: exceedingly early and exceedingly anxious.

Staring at the door, she took in a breath and squared her shoulders. Finally, she pushed open the door to the room, glancing across the wide space as she did so. Unsurprisingly, she didn't recognize most of the other people in the room. Walking through the empty space, she felt overwhelmingly aware of her small stature and appearance. Beforehand, she had pulled on the only fully yellow thing she owned: a simple yellow sundress. Now, she was aware of the holes in the hem of the dress, the runs in her tights, and the way that her boots were a size too large. In the late September chill, she achingly felt her lack of a sweater, goosebumps raising on her skin.

She waved a hand tentatively, waving at the other Hufflepuffs. "Hi. I'm new. Well, my name is Asteria, not new but. I'm new here? I'm a first year, I mean." Her face flushed a bright shade of red and she stumbled over her words, but she forged onward. "Is there anything that anyone needs help with? Like hanging anything up or something like that? " As she finished asking, she tugged on her hair slightly with one hand, fumbling with the fabric of her skirt with the other. She knew it took work to put yourself out there, but why did it feel so hard sometimes?

Serena fought around with her black dress, trying to get it on the right way before she walked into the ballroom, thinking to herself, "Why am I wearing this?! I hate this dress! I hate that my mom made me bring it!" She groaned as she tugged on the flower patterned sleeves, continuing her thoughts with, "Well I guess we don't want the other Hufflepuffs to think we're just boring now do we? Which means we can't just show up in our school uniform. But why this dress? Couldn't we have worn that hoodie?" She looked back at the way to the dorm rooms, groaning as she thought, "Yeah...I'm not going back." After fumbling with her dress a little more she walked into the ballroom, stumbling a little due to the fancier shoes she was wearing, ones she wasn't really use to.

She put on the best smile that she could given how uncomfortable she was. Seeing everyone setting up it dawned on her, "You show up in a dress, early, to help set up...you're a genius Serena." she thought to herself as she sighs. She then walks a few steps forward and asks, "So do you guys need some help setting things up? I don't mind working in a dress.." She then mumbled under her breath, "Also wouldn't mind not being in a dress."

Serena had seen the flyer on the Hufflepuff Bulletin Board advertising a party in the ballroom. She hadn't made any friends yet, so she hoped that this party would be an excellent opportunity to change that. Serena entered the ballroom wearing a jean jacket over a simple yellow dress with black horizontal stripes. On her feet were a pair of black combat boots. She had decided to do her long, blonde hair in her usual loose pig-tails.

Serena had decided to arrive early for a couple of reasons. One, she wanted to help the organizers to set up. Two, Serena wasn't entirely confident about where the ballroom was and wanted to give herself enough time to find it. And three, she just simply couldn't wait in her dorm room anymore for the party to start. Serena looked around the room at all of the yellow decorations and the table filled with snacks. Well, if Serena was going to help, she should at least introduce herself and offer to help instead of just standing there like a weirdo.

Serena cleared her throat. "Um, hi, my name's Serena." She said, giving a little wave. "Do you guys need help with anything?"

The world is filled with nice people. If you can't find one, be one.

Annie looked over towards Marian as a few other people arrived. Noticing one of the few familiar faces she saw Carson give her a small nod and set down a box. “That’s the last of it, I think." She looked around at the other people that arrived also wanting to help. Annie noticed some of them were dressed already while others including herself were not. "Well if that's everything now we just have to get them up in time."

The girl scanned the room quickly seeing tables set up with food while the tables and chairs for seating were all pushed back against a wall. "Hey Marian you think we should start setting up some chairs and tables so people can take a rest, or for thr introverted Puff's?" Annie gave a light laugh knowing that she would probably start or end up by a corner, not being social. "This room is gigantic, we'll have plenty of space for dancing and other activities, great planning for the party!"

She smiled to herself, knowing this party was going to be a blast. Annie spotted a ladder lying by conveniently, waiting to be used. "I could help with the higher up decorations I guess?" The Hufflepuff felt her wand in her pocket and shrugged.

Noticing one of the prefects Reid, she waved him over. She watched Marian continue to rush about, not sure if she was panicking or not and was just super busy before turning to approach Reid. "I think you should assign jobs because time is ticking and Marian looks a little.. uh- stressed?"

SNOOOGGGHHHH—” Libby burst out of her sleep, sitting straight up. “Oh, wuhn, hm?”

Rubbing her eyes, she got out of bed and stretched, looking around. Strangely there was nobody present, except for two girls whispering near the door. She yawned loudly and scratched her head, stumbling over to the girls. They looked her over her curiously.

“Where is everyone? It's too—I mean, a little late,” she asked, smiling down at them. Sometimes it made her feel uncomfortable being taller than most of the girls but she wasn't thinking clearly enough to care.

“They're at the party,” one girl explained, sniffing. It wasn't a sad sniff either.

Her friend pointed behind her. “It's in the ballroom. We're about go, do you—"

“A PARTY?? I NEVER WAS TOLD—”

A flash of red later and Libby was struggling into a beat up pair of white converses. She had changed into a black and yellow plaid dress over a black shirt and was currently trying to brush her hair but failed miserably. She resorted to just her normal two pigtails because she had a party to get to.

Turning around, she began to say, “Okay, let's GOOOOO—” But she didn't even bother finishing because the two girls had disappeared.

With a sigh, Libby breezed through the dorms and the Common Room, racing all the way up the stairs. Her hair bounced as she took the steps by threes. She clutched her satchel close to her body, all the while thinking about who was going to be there and why was there a party anyway.

“Those girls could've waited three seconds, that's all, even,” she pouted, blowing a strand of hair out of her face. She slipped on a step but caught herself, continuing up. Her blue eyes darted around more frantically as she leveled with the third floor. She wanted to join any people heading to the party because she felt weird going alone.

The ballroom doors were closing just as she got to them and she slid through just in time.

“BOY—” Libby clapped her hands over her mouth, hesitating with wide eyes for a second before inching slowly away from the only way out.

Libby's face was flushed but she was extremely excited. It was par-tay time. Honestly she hadn't been to many before but she was glad that she was at this one. It felt like every Hufflepuff in the entirety of the world was in the ballroom. The room as big but it still felt crowded, and more people were streaming in.

Libby eyed all of the decorations, which were of course themed yellow and black. She was glad that she wore her house colours. She lost interest in the decorations as soon as she saw the food table, which she made a beeline to. “DORI—doritos!” she grabbed a plate and shoveled up some Doritos with it, which was as courteous as she could be right now.

All she could do was bounce on her toes, which was not even in beat to the music. Her eyes darted around the room, not lingering on any specific faces. She recognized everyone vaguely; the only people who she really knew were the Prefects. She definitely wanted to get to know people.

Libby walked up to a friendly looking girl, her mouth twisted into a wide grin. “I'm Libby-Libby—it's really just Libby, though.” She winced and pursed her lips, slightly embarrassed. She offered hand but then realized that her fingers were covered in cheesey residue. “UMM, my hands are messy so just hello.”
