Let's watch Dodgeball!! Lions Vs. Eagles

While the game went on Shauna was slowly loosing interest in her book and gaining more interested in the game. She truly didn't understand the fascination with using magic in a game that already had so much action to it; honestly that just made things so darn complicated. She had absolutely no idea what the score was nor did she care as she found this game exhilarating. She bounced in her seat getting more and more into the game as she felt the excitement building.

Now anyone who know's Shauna know's that she is very shy, quite & reserved so firstly seeing her so excitable is a strange thing but what followed suit was even stranger. Almost as if her bubbled out of an over flowing cauldron a voice she almost didn't recognize as her own rang out across the field "GO RAVENCLAW! KICK SOME GRYFFINDOR BUTT!" Okay the voice was still her's but never in her life has she ever used it with any sort of volume so the fact that she COULD was a huge shock to her. The newly excited Shauna screamed & cheered for her fellow Claws as well as booed for the Gryff's rather quickly making her throat very sore.

As the smoke left his wand Kyle heard the sounds of chaos and despite his world behind complete darkness it was a sweet sweet sound. It was at that moment that a ball hit him the chest and got a small grunt out of him. Then the angry and competitive boy opened his mouth and...started to laugh. ”oh man we’re playing a bunch of Langers! You guys are Fu-“ and his, surely crude, words were interrupted by one last violent sneeze mere moments before the arena shattered under him and he fell, mad laughter carrying with him until the sound of crashing water silenced him.

For a moment he almost began to panic. He was submerged and completely blind and swirling in wet darkness. Then suddenly he was lifted out of the water and into a boat by his (very lovely) Head of house, Miss Pendrast. Kyle pulled his blind off retied it around his forehead like a bandanna and offered a cocky grin to woman as he was lead back to shore.

He climbed out of the boat, his boot catching and making him half fall into the water again, and he looked around at all the students watching the game. And one particular Slytherin stood out among them. Kyle walked over to her and without warning or hesitation he wrapped his arms around her in a tight bear hug, soaking her with his dripping waterlogged self.

Hey muppet! Ya miss me?” he laughed as the girl yelled at him and struggled to get free

Santario’s attention turned back to the stage as balls and spells flew. Kyle did not take off his blindfold which made her shake her head at him, but he at least managed to get off a good fumos *click*. A perfect action shot. Though when the ball struck him in the chest she gasped even if she had watched the Ravenclaw throw it. With the arena breaking out from under his feet she watched him hit the water. It was a wasted move from Ravenclaws she thought as they could have used that nice throw on one of Gryffindor’s stronger competitors since Kyle had been virtually helpless at that point.

Her eyes traveled back to the stadium as two Ravenclaws fell through the arena as well. The game was in the favor of the lions at least for now. “Come on Gris you got this!” She yelled out to the only other Gryffindor that she had known up there. With technically 3 ravens down (Because they were short one, to begin with) to the Lions 1 she thought they had a pretty good shot of whooping them. However, what Santario had failed to do while cheering for her other friend, was pay attention to her best friend after he hit the shoreline. Wet arms wrapped around her and pulled her into a tight bear hug soaking her through almost immediately. She shrieked! “ROOK! Get off of me you gom!” The insult seemed more friendly than an insult and she was laughing while trying to push him off of her knowing full well she wouldn’t get free until he let go. “You’re going to get my camera wet!”

The water was cold--colder than she might have thought. Underneath the waves, the cold seemed to hit her harder than it ever had before, seemingly doubling in resonance after the dodgeball sent her in there. Her eyes were closed as the first waves took her under, curling her body around in a grip that was better suited to the ocean. But living on the sea meant that she knew how to get out of rip tides and strong currents. Opening her eyes, she kicked upward and once she broke through the surface, she turned towards the shore in order to swim parallel to it. But she didn't need to tread water all that long because Professor Pendrast has shone up with a boat very quickly.

It was in this vessel she was sheperded to shore, where she was promptly given a blanket and a glass of hot cocoa. Shivering, she gripped the cup and looked back out onto the glass field that floated above the Great Lake. Even though she was no longer there, she still had a team out there she believed in. And the odds, considering the Fumos smoke that had been released, were likely against them. The obvious choice would have been to simply return to Ravenclaw tower and have a hot shower so she could get properly cleaned-up and not smell like lake. But Ruthie wasn't that kind of girl. Water and dirt didn't bother her, especially when there was something much more important at stake: house loyalty.

And so she made her way over to the stands, where she was eager to cheer the Ravenclaw team on to a come back and hopefully, to a victory. As she walked over, she could see it was a smaller crowd than she might have expected--it looked larger from the lake--but still fierce. Most of them were cheering for the lions if the abundance of scarlet and gold was any indication. Turning her head, she looked for a Ravenclaw banner--like the one she was planning for the upcoming Quidditch match--or a scarf but she couldn't see one. As she walked up the steps, her spirit weighed heavy until she saw a small girl buried in a book. Her face was somewhat obscured but as Ruthie climbed higher and the angle changed, she realized it was a face she knew. "Shauna!" she called as she made her way of to the girl and sat next to her. "Whatever are you doing reading? This is the time for cheering!" she exclaimed.

As she settled down in the bench, she pulled her blanket tighter around herself. "Listen to what I came up with. I was going to use it for Quidditch but now's as good a time as ever." She took a sip of her cocoa before begining and then swallowed as she tried to recall the exact wording: "HEY HEY HO HO GRYFFINDOR'S GOT TO GO. HO HO HEY HEY RAVENCLAW'S HERE TO WIN THE GAME!" The chant came off loud and clear, but not as loud it could be if they worked together--or if she wasn't still recovering from the cold. "It's easy to remember. Want to try together?" she asked with a smile. She didn't know Shauna very well, but her impression of her from that time brewing a potion together was that she could be chatty if prompted. And that was what Ruthie prayed for, concerning that with the cold her voice might give out. But even if it did, she would stay. She would stay and she would shout and she'd pray those on the field could hear.

Shauna had in fact cheered a bit but ended up getting rather hoarse not to mention she had seen Ruthie fall into the water which is when she went back to her book. With the water being so cold she wasn't expecting Ruthie to stick around; in fact she was having a hard time wanting to stick around. However much to her surprise Ruthie sat next to her; when asked why she was reading making her look over at the girl "I was cheering...." as she spoke her voice wavered a bit revealing how hoarse it currently it "Then I seen you fall in the water; not to mention I'm loosing my voice."

She smiled a bit gently closing her book revealing she was now reading her Potions book; between Potions & Herbology she honestly didn't know which class was her favorite. She looked at the girl with a soft smile "I've never seen a game of any sorts before...you did really well." she gently rubbed her throat trying to get some kind of feeling back into her throat so she could talk properly. Shauna gently bit her lip softly looking at Ruthie "You know...we could watch the game from the tower so you don't freeze to death."

Thump! went Jorah's copy of A History of Magic as he closed it shut. I'm finally doooone, he let out through a yawn, extending his arms up in the air and stretching his back against the library chair which he had been occupying for what seemed like far too long. He gazed with pride upon his finished assignment on the Gargoyle Strike of 1911. Jorah looked around the library, it was empty. Where is everybody he thought?....wait, what day is it?! He remembered that Ravenclaw's dodgeball game against Gryffindor was going on today. Jorah packed away his book and sheets of parchment then set out for the lake, but not before grabbing a snack from the Great Hall. I'm already late, what would a few more minutes hurt?, he reasoned.

Jorah mosied down the Hogwart's grounds munching on a fistfull of popcorn as he went. The lake spread out before him with cheering fans on the pier, but on the water was a strange ice like platform supporting the players. Oh nice, I was wondering how they were gonna play on a lake. Jorah found a spot among the other spectators. Amidst the cheering and taunts he could hear someone shouting "HEY HEY HO HO GRYFFINDOR'S GOT TO GO. HO HO HEY HEY RAVENCLAW'S HERE TO WIN THE GAME!" Jorah tried to join in, but he had just stuffed another handful of popcorn in his mouth. He managed to get out a muffled, "Hhh hhh mmm mm hyhinhor's hat who ho!" He finished chewing and watched the players go at it.

NB: Sorry for missing your second post, Shauna! Good save.

The fact that Ruthie hadn't noticed Shauna was cheering was a result of her tunnel vision, so focused on creating the greatest uproar. She'd noticed Shauna reading and by the time she got up there, she must have missed the girl's shouts. As she spoke Ruthie had to admit the girl's voice didn't sound normal. "Yeah, falling in is not something I'm especially proud of," she replied as she fished through her pocket for a tin of mints or cough drops. Putting out a small pweter tin, she offered them to her companion. "All I've got are sherbet lemons. Looks like the tin saved them from getting water-logged," she said as she pulled back the lid.

Ruthie reached in and took a sherbet lemon into her own mouth. Slightly salter than normal, but certainly still edible. She was swirling the candy in her mouth when she heard the fellow first year offer her a compliment. "Thanks, but I don't think it was really well. I got hit twice, basically wasted our extra life," she replied looking down slightly. Secretly, she was kind of ashamed of her performance, even if it was bad luck. But at least she had gone out there and there was always Quidditch, where she could try and make up for it performance-wise. She was so focused on her own missteps, she ignored Shauna's remark about not seeing a game. On the contrary she asked, "How's it been watching from here?"

She caught Shauna looking at her before offering they move to some place warmer. "I'm okay," she said, wrapping the blanket around her more tightly, somewhat unconvincingly. "Really," she added for emphasis. More to the point, moving would mean she'd miss some of the match and she really didn't want to do that. She'd already missed enough of it on account of falling into the lake. More would be a travesty.

Turning her head to squeeze out the remaining water from her ponytail, she overhead some mumbling from nearby: "Hhh hhh mmm mm hyhinhor's hat who ho!" The general rhythm sounded like her cheer, but the words were all garbled up as though the speaker had been hit by a confundus charm. Uncertain, she turned her head and tried to identify the source. "Jorah!" she called out when she spotted her friend, "Come and join us!" She waved at him while tugging on her blanket. As the wind drifted in with a new gust of cold, she drank in her cocoa. The mumbler, she decided, would just have to be left up there. Hopefully they would join in proper rather than being annoying, but she didn't want to lose any more time on it. Turning back to face the game, she sniffled slightly and watched, figuring she'd have to become section cheerleader soon, which was a role would relish. Excelling in screaming seemed much easier than the time she'd spent out on the glass field.

Shauna stood for only a moment to sit on her book to make sure that it did not become damaged in anyway or worse; get lost. That would be a major catastrophe. When Ruthie offered her a Sherbet Lemon she looked at the little candies and instantly became intrigued; she took one with a soft smile as the little drop hit her tongue "Stronger than I thought...." She chuckled a bit "But really good." she smiled a bit letting it swirl around in her mouth to get the full flavor. As terrible as it was this was the first candy she has ever had in her life; it was safe to say that she was addicted.

She shrugged a bit at Ruthie "News to me that your performance wasn't well; from what I could see and what I learned just by watching; the game is hard. I mean really you have balls, running, trying not to get out with a ball while also trying to get already out members back in by catching a ball along with magic. That is just too much to even handle and comprehend fully." For someone who has never seen ANY sort of game before she seemed to pick up pretty quick. She smirked a bit at her friend "It was fun to watch once it was understood."

Ruthie was very stubborn so Shauna already knew she wouldn't go anywhere to get warm even if that meant catching a cold making her shake her head a bit "If you catch a col don't come crying to me." she teased just as Jorah was called over. Shauna was still the shy type; she could actually feel herself retreating into her shell. It wasn't until coming to Hogwarts did she ever even see anyone of the male species; it was very strange really. So naturally men....even boys intrigued her but not to the point she would speak to them. Not much anyways....

In the thick of the cheering, Jorah felt like he heard his name, huh?, he thought. Turning his attention away from the game, he caught sight of Ruthie sitting with another girl from Ravenclaw. Come and join us!, she yelled. Happy to see someone he knew, Jorah gladly obliged and made his way over to his fellow housemates.

Once close, he noticed Ruthie was soaking wet and huddled under a blanket. Why are you so wet! You must be freezing, he said, unfastening his cloak and draping it over her shoulders, here. He felt a brisk breeze penetrate his body through to his core. Jorah was sensitive to the cold, but at the sight of her dripping locks, he was more concerned about Ruthie. He would worry about himself and how to get that fishy smell out of his cloak later. Good, you're drinking something warm. Would you like some popcorn?, as he offered what little popcorn was left from his ravenous devouring.

He looked over to the other Ravenclaw. He had seen the young brunette around before, but they had not officially met yet. Hello, I'm Jorah, he said with a wave, what's your na...WATCH OUT DYMPHNA!!! Jorah shouted to whom he thought was his Quidditch teammate within a cloud of smoke. It looked as if she was casting a spell, but he wasn't sure. What he did know was that one of the Gryffindors was readying to throw a dodge-ball in her direction.

Ruthie was glad that Shauna seemed to enjoy the sherbet lemon. Herself, she thought it was saltier than normal, but hey, one sherbet lemon was better than no sherbet lemon, just as cocoa is better than no cocoa. She held her glass close to her body as the wind kicked up slightly.

Her eyes widened while she listened to Shauna explain the dodgeball match. The way her friend explained it with all the clauses and present progressive verbs, dodgeball seemed more like a war than a game. It was a miracle she had made it out without injury. Ruthie sat back in her blanket, taking in this explanation, but what struck her most of all was Shauna's final words: that it was fun to watch once understood. "Have you've not played dodgeball before then?" she asked, curiously. It struck her that perhaps a pureblood might not have played before and that she knew little of Shauna's life outside Hogwarts, but still. The probability seemed low that she would be so sheltered, didn't it?

As she drunk in more of the cocoa, she caught Shauna shaking her head at her. "I won't catch a cold," Ruthie insisted, "and even if I did, it'd be worth it. The team needs us." It was just as she said this that she felt another cloak on top of her blanket. It was rough, but warm, an extra layer that she needed if she were going to stay out here through the end of the game. Smiling at the suggestion of popcorn, she scrapped the bottom of his bowl for some kernels. "Thanks," she said lightly, unaware how much concern he was giving her.

Jorah was in the middle of introducing himself--Ruthie suspected and hoped they'd get along--when his attention was snapped by the events of the field. He called out to warn Dymphna of an on-coming ball headed her way. Ruthie looked out and could see it whirling the same way two had shot out at her earlier. And more than that, Ruthie could make out what looked like charm headed her way as well. Gritting her teeth in suspense, she put a cold, damp hand on Jorah's shoulder for support in this moment of suspense. "Merlin, I hope she makes it," she said. To be honest, when she had been on the field, she hadn't been paying as much attention to her team mates as perhaps she should have done. Shauna had been here the longest and even though her point of view might be different, she still had the most information. "Outside of two of us getting knock out, how has the team looked so far?" she questioned the girl.
