“Shut up, Mags, it was an accident.” Carso groaned, dragging a hand down his face as he trudged down the tiny train corridor, dragging his feet slightly.

Okay, okay, Carson had lost Maggie’s Snitch. It wasn’t intentional, though, honest! They’d now been visiting every single compartment, looking for the Snitch. Needless to say, niether Carson nor Maggie were Seekers.

Pulling open the door of the next compartment on their trudge, Carson yawned, leaning an arm on the frame of the now-open door. Inside the compartment were two guys, both in Carson’s year.

One was Hugh Lowe, a really, really, tall kid who kind of looked like Oliver Lock, the guy Maggie had a “thing” with. The other was a kid with some shaggy blond hair, who Carson recognized as Grayson Ackley.

“Hey guys,” Carson grinned, “You know me, I think? I’m in your year— Carson Miller. This is my friend Maggie Parker,” Carson nodded to Maggie lazily, “And we lost her Snitch. Have you seen one anywhere? We’ve been looking for actual like, minutes.” he joked, laughing a little at himself.

Now that he thought about it, he’d actually be down to be friends with either of the guys— they were both in his year, and most of his friends were girls anyways, besides Dan and Remy.

A boy with some large spectacles swung open the compartment he'd been sleeping in. With heavy eyes he turned his face to meet the newcomers. He eyed the one badger standing in the doorframe, who was trying to explain why he had just woken the giant from a nice nap. Hugh did not remember any direct conversation he had made with the boy. His eyes narrowed as they mentioned a snitch. Instinctively he started looking around in the air around him. Not that there had been any possibility for him to notice while he was having his nice little nap.

"Not that I have seen." His voice rumbled through the compartment. His Scottish accent clear and deep. The lad shrugged towards the pair. His head now turned to Grayson. Another lion such as himself, though they never really got themselves acquainted really well. Dark green eyes inspected the boy carefully. "I can help you look if you really need help with that. However I'd offer you to sit and just wait out the train ride so all the compartments are empty. Makes it easier to find a single snitch out here." He shrugged again. Indifference wasn't really his thing. But he was really tired still, something he excused himself for as he yawned.

“Shut up, Mags, it was an accident.” Grayson had heard from outside his train compartment. The voice was low, and sounded like whoever it had been was irritated about the subject they had been talking about.

The door then slung open, two people appearing in the door way. The girl, Maggie Parker, he recognized her from the dodge ball game. And the guy.. Grayson had seen him a few times in the halls but never really spoke to him.

As Grayson ran a hand through his hair, he smiled at the two. "How did you.. lose her snitch, exactly?" He questioned, genuinely curious as to how it happened. He looked over at the other student in the compartment booth, who had also replied he hadn't seen it.

"Yeah we could help you look for it.. though yeah you should maybe wait out the ride. You both could sit here if you'd like?" He offered, actually interested in being friends with them. Maggie seemed to be annoyed that her snitch was still missing, though he thought her aggravated expression was cute on her. Not that he thought she was cute, it was just a thing he noticed.

He caught himself staring off and looked back at the two in the doorway, waiting for them to make the choice of finding another compartment or sitting here.

“Shut up, Mags, it was an accident.” Carson chided, defending himself. Maggie rolled her eyes, only partly-annoyed at her best friend.

“Yeah, a pretty damn stupid one, Car. I turn around for five bloddy seconds and you manage to lose the damn thing.” She laughed a little, obviously joking. They stopped before yet another compartment, one of the last ones left, actually. Carson pulled open the door to reveal Hugh Lowe and Grayson Ackley, two guys who were in both Maggie’s year and house.

Hugh was tall, with blond hair and deep brown eyes. He was pretty cute— and he actually looked a lot like Oliver, now that she thought about it— besides the whole height thing. Grayson had floppy brown hair and blue eyes, and sure, he was kinda cute as well.

“You know me, I think? I’m in your year— Carson Miller. This is my friend Maggie Parker,” he nodded towards Maggie, who gave a small, lazy salute with a grin on her face. “And we lost her Snitch. Have you seen one anywhere? We’ve been looking for actual like, minutes.” Maggie’s jaw dropped, and she let out a small, disbelieving gasp at Carson’s choice of words.

"Not that I have seen.” Hugh admitted, his voice deep and loud. "I can help you look if you really need help with that. However I'd offer you to sit and just wait out the train ride so all the compartments are empty. Makes it easier to find a single snitch out here."

"How did you.. lose her snitch, exactly?" Grayson asked, running a hand through his hair as he did so. Maggie quickly looked away— realizing her gaze had rested on the kid for a bit too long. What? Sue her for looking, geez.

"Yeah we could help you look for it.. though yeah you should maybe wait out the ride. You both could sit here if you'd like?”

“Alright,” Maggie shrugged, stepping into the compartment and plopping down onto the seat next to Hugh and across from Grayson. “But just to clarify, he’s the one who lost my Snitch. Him. Carson James Miller.” she pointed an accusatory finger at him, a small grin tugging on the corners of her lips as she did so. “I turn my back for five seconds, tops, and then he’s lost it.”

“I heard you made the Quidditch team, by the way.” Maggie commented, glancing towards Hugh. “Congrats, really. I tried out— didn’t make it, but Carson’s playing for Hufflepuff as a Chaser.”

“What about you?” Maggie asked, looking towards Grayson curiously. “Whats your thing?”

My thing? I'm not sure.. I guess I dont have one." It was true, he never really had a thing. He had been a prefect for a little while, but he gave that job up. Not because he was irresponsible, just because he'd rather be a normal student than someone in charge.

He glanced back at Carson, who seemed to have taken a seat next to Maggie. They appeared to be close. Maybe best friends? He had thought, noticing their playful attitudes towards each other. It reminded him of himself and Brielle, a Slytherin he had been friends with. They were always getting in little sarcastic arguments, blaming each other for stupid small things.

As he looked at the two together once more, rambling on about her sitch, he had a small question placed in the back of his head. Were they a 'thing?' Grayson wondered, trying to decipher if they had feelings for eachother.

No.. They coudln't be. He had seen Carson before with another Hufflepuff, and they seemed to be dating already. Grayson then caught hold of himself; like who was he to just be guessing others relationships? He hadn't a clue what came over him.

"And you Carson? What about you?"

Carson didn’t fail to notice the fleeting glances Maggie and Grayson had been sending each other since they’d entered the compartment, which caused Carson to ridicule his friend in his mind good-naturedly.

Maggie had always been one to let her emotions get the best of her, that’s just the kind of person she was— and he’d bet anything Maggie’d try and make a move before the train ride was over. That was the thing about Oliver— she’d been too nervous to tell him how she felt, and her feelings had seemed to fizzle out.

“Me? Uh, yeah, like Mags said,” Carson nodded to his friend, sitting down next to Grayson and across from Hugh, who’d remained quiet throughout most of the exchange. “I’m pretty dedicated to Quidditch. ‘Fraid I’m not to adept in the whole academic thing, though.” He shrugged— it was true. He’d never really been one for maths and such, and he wasn’t about to start, even if he was at a magic school.

“I’ve just started dating Charlotte Cadunt, too. She’s amazing— really pretty and good at Charms.” Carson’s comment about his girlfriend was completely true– and definitely not prompted by the looks Maggie was sending him. If possible, she was screaming TELL HIM WE’RE NOT DATING with her narrowed eyes and tight smile, and Carson was happy to oblige.

Hugh watched as the two newcomers sat down beside him and the other boy. Apparently Grayson knew these two better than he did. Or so it seemed. Maggie addressed Hugh like an old friend. Something kind to do, but it was always a bit unsettling. He eyed downwards to where she sat. Blue eyes looking up from under some well-cut brown haired bangs. "Heard you got waitlisted. Give it time, you'll be on the field in no time I bet. I heard Quidd players get smacked down like flies." Hugh grinned excited. "A true battlefield."

"What were you aiming for? Chaser or Seeker?" He tried to make a guess at how fast she'd be on a broom. Definitely faster then himself. He did not know if it was his sheer size or just his slow mind, but he had never been able to really reach some great speeds on a broom. Hovering still in front of a goal post should be fine though. The he looked over at Carson. He seemed somewhat familiar, but Hugh had trouble remembering where he'd know him from. "And you got Chaser with the badgers?" He asked quite interested, inspecting the boy from head to toe. "I'll have to be wary for you when our houses compete." Hugh nodded in respect. Warriors were always welcomed to meet his strength, but he knew the value of speed and agility too. He was curious how Carson would do on the field.

Grayson seemed to be doing a lot of inner thinking. Hugh was convinced that this was the guy who became prefect after he stepped down. Those were some fond days to remember. Especially the evening patrols he did with Ana. Soon he'd see her again. She should even be on this train. But he'd find her soon enough. It would be rude to go find her now with these three new strangers coming to meet him. He scratched his whiskers and looked happily through the window. Carson complementing his girlfriend in the background would only make Hugh dream more about Ana.
