A Helping Hand
Annie hurriedly rushed from the common room to the library, her satchel bumping against her hip. She pushed open the door with a little too much force, earning a glare from the librarian. Her cheeks reddened in embarrassment before she scanned the room. The Hufflepuff's eyes lit up when she saw an empty table with a few chairs.People Included: @Victoria McGregor
Annie huffed and set down her satchel just before the contents fell out. She had a few ink bottles, some quills, two big rolls of empty parchment paper and several books. The girl planned on getting a head start on her studies for this school year. She set down one of the books in front of her and hummed as she began to read the large book. Annie sighed, being unable to concentrate and pulled out her sketching pad from her bag. She started to roughly sketch a Hippogryph, not saying anything while she worked. While deep in concentration she paused to smile, thinking how she would be able to take the Care of Magical Creatures class next year. Now in a better mood she put her sketch book away and went back to her book in front of her, which was about her best class, Herbology. "Alright let's do this.."

A Helping Hand
It was a relatively quite day with not much going on. Victoria assumed that Hogwarts would be somewhat like her muggle school in the way that things didn’t really pick up until the second or third week, giving students time to settle in before they were hit with knowledge like a ton of bricks. Being that it was such a dead day, it gave the red-head time to explore the halls of the castle. One place that she had been looking forward to going but had not yet made time for was the library, which is exactly where she found herself standing this morning.
Entering the quite and mostly empty space, she marveled at the antique bookshelves and the ancient books that sat on each of them. Slowly she walked down the aisles, going from shelf to shelf, wondering what each of the books was about. She wondered how many of these adventures she could get her hands on in the coming seven years.
Although it wouldn’t be too surprising that there weren’t that many students in the library at this time, it was surprising to Victoria that she hadn’t run into one yet. Come to think of it, she didn’t remember even seeing the librarian when she walked in. Was she allowed to be here? She decided that she would continue to explore until she was told she couldn’t.
Finally, after what seemed like an hour, she neared a table where she found a girl reading what looked like a textbook, though she couldn’t make out which one. It seemed as though they were allowed to be here after all. The brunette girl looked as if she were older than Victoria and perhaps, she could tell her about Hogwarts. However, not wanting to bother her from her studies, Victoria turned back to the shelves, trying to blend in with the books and not be a disturbance.

Annie looked up from her book, realizing how anti-social she was being. She took a look around and spotted a few new people who weren't there when she first came in. The girl set down her Herbology book and got up from her seat. Annie dusted off her robes before going over to a section to look for a book. She ran her finger tip along the spines of the books before pausing and looking down. The Hufflepuff had almost tripped over another student. "Hm? Oh I didn't see you! Were you trying to blend in? Well you did a good job." Annie gave a small laugh and stepped back and offered her hand to the young student.Interactions With: @Victoria McGregor
She paused. "Ah where are my manners! I'm Annie Morgan, Second year Hufflepuff, would you like to come study with me?" The girl waved her hand back to her table where her work had been messily scattered and she gave a small blush of embarrassment. "Right now I'm working on Herbology, but I should be doing Charms, but the textbook is sooo big it's overwhelming.." Annie rambled a bit more before glancing back down at the girl.
She had bright red hair and pale skin, kind of reminding her of a few people she had known back in Ireland. "Pardon if this is an odd or offensive question but your appearance is very Irish-like so do you have some Irish decent or origin in your family? I mean, I myself am from Bray, Ireland which is roughly an hour from Dublin Ireland if that gives you a good reference, since Dublin is a rather popular and larger city than my hometown is.."
Annie smiled shyly when talking about her home life with others. Heck she didn't even know the girl's name and was telling her where she lived! "What is wrong with me? How can I trust her already, I mean she seems shy or just oddly quiet. She has a nice simple, kind aura around her maybe she isn't that bad. How would I know she hasn't even spoken a word with all your bickering!" She mentally cursed herself for talking back in forth in her head. After starting to get a headache from all of her head chatter she blocked it all out and returned her gaze to the girl, not daring to say anything else.

A Helping Hand
Noticing that the brunette girl Victoria had previously spotted was now standing up and walking towards her, Victoria crouched down further towards the ground, blending in even further into the books. Always the adventurous girl, hiding and blending in was not something that was up her alley and she had to wonder why she was doing it. She had been on the grounds of Hogwarts for nearly a month now, yet not many people had spoken to her. It was extremely unlike her to not be constantly surrounded by friends and it seemed as though she was starting to crawl into a shell from it. Hopefully as time went on at Hogwarts she would get back to her normal, bubbly self. After all, her bright red hair didn’t exactly make it easy for her to blend in.
As she sat there silently and still as a statue, she watched the other girl nearly trip over her. Embarrassment instantly overcame her as she wondered why on earth, she had tried to blend in. Apparently, it had gone well though and now here she was, a potential hazard to other students. As the other student asked her if she was trying to blend in, she nodded slowly. “Yes, I was blending in, but now I can’t remember why,” she began, taking the girl’s hand as she stood up with her.
Watching the girl babble on, she couldn’t help but giggle slightly. This girl was acting more like Victoria normally did than Victoria herself was currently acting. On a normal day-to-day basis, Victoria was quite the chatter box. For some reason, today she had decided she wasn’t going to be noticed. “I’m Victoria, a first year Gryffindor,” she introduced herself. “And yes, I am from Dublin!” She hadn’t responded to the girl’s question of studying, but she figured that she would just follow her and see where they ended up with schoolwork. So far, she didn’t know a whole lot about what was going on in this magical world.

Annie laughed at the girl's response to trying to blend in. Sometimes people just weren't social and that was okay with Annie because she could relate when she was a first year. "Ah yeah, things can be scary as a first year, believe me this big place got me tripping over many things but other students is a first." She shrugged with a slightly comical retort.Interactions: @Victoria McGregor
"Nice to meet you Victoria!" The Hufflepuff gave her a genuine smile as the young Gryffindor took her hand, glad to not have scared her with her rambling. Her grin stretched wider when she admitted she was from Dublin. "Ah really? My sense are correct then, wow!" Annie grinned and sheepishly rubbed her neck for assuming and not just casually asking. She sat down back at the table and moved her work and stack of books to the side to make room for Victoria to take a seat.
"Anything you want to know about or learn. You could always listen to me ramble, I have a pretty bad habit of it though.." Annie grinned before pausing to think of a question for her. "Are you from a pure-blood, half-blood or muggle family?" Annie asked, fairly curious to how much this young witch knew about the magical world. She seemed pretty smart for her age at least from looks and speech.
Her sketch pad fell out of her satchel and revealed the rough sketch of a Hippogryph she had been doodling earlier when her mind was blocked. Quickly she bent down to grab it and got a paper cut on her finger tip. Annie brought her finger to her mouth, her forehead scrunched in discomfort as she sucked on the small beads of blood now produced from the injury.

Following Annie, Victoria took a seat in one of the chairs across from her. “My parents are both wizards, but they didn’t tell me much about Hogwarts,” she began to explain. “They wanted me to experience a normal, muggle life first.” She began to twirl one of her red curls around in her hand, absentmindedly as she eyes began to wander around the library that surrounded her. Normally a very adventurous girl, Victoria felt that her parents had put her at a disadvantage, as she didn’t feel like herself here. Everything was new and exciting, but it was also very intimidating and a little bit scary.
“I wouldn’t mind listening to you ramble,” Victoria laughed. “You might teach me a lot, whether on purpose or accident.” She watched as the girl’s sketchbook fell out of her bag, landing on a picture of something she had never seen before. Victoria frowned as the girl sucked on her finger, concerned for her new friend. “Are you okay?” she asked, studying the girl over. She was curious about the creature she had seen in the book, but decided she should probably ask about that later, after she knew that the girl was okay.

Annie waved away Victoria's concern about herself. "Yup, yep totally fine just a papercut see?" She took her mouth away from the cut and now only a small bead of blood appeared from her injury. The Hufflepuff took a tissue from the table and wiped away the rest. Her eyebrows furrowed when she bent back down to pick up her picture and made sure it wasn't smudged or damaged in any way before getting back up into a normal seated position.
Annie had been listening to Victoria talk about her family. "Oh, that's interesting, you have experienced muggle life before attending Hogwarts then? Was your family okay with you going to school here? She questioned, genuinely curious to her answers. Her face lit up and she grinned when Victoria said she wouldn't mind if she rambled. "Ah that's good, I tend to get off track sometimes, well getting off track isn't good but at least I don't have any awkward or boring conversations I think.. I might talk some people's ears off but that's just me. Annie shrugged after the bundle of words spilled out of her mouth in a rush.
The Hufflepuff had glanced at her books and parchment paper and wondered if she should start working again. She shook the thought off and continued to chat with the other girl, enjoying the new company. "I myself come from a half-blood family. Mum was the witch of the family, a very intelligent Ravenclaw in her time, I figure my dad would have been a Gryffindor if he were a wizard but alas he is a muggle, though there is nothing wrong with being a muggle I assure you I don't have anything against muggle-born people." Annie blurted out the last part of the sentence and quickly covered up herself, trying to not sound offensive.

Victoria sat quietly, curiously watching the girl as she talked away. Once she was done, she nodded briefly and smiled. "Of course, they were happy to have me come here, they just wanted me to experience muggle life as I grew up," she explained. "My mother and father met here. They told me they loved it here, but that I would have to learn about it and experience it on my own. They seemed to think it was best, so I trust them." She was definitely nervous to be in a giant castle in a different country that revolved around a completely different world without knowing much about it, but as the adventurous type, she figured it wouldn't take her long to get settled in.
She slid down into her chair a little bit, becoming more and more comfortable with the situation she was currently in. There were so many shelves of book around her that it amazed her, but she figured she had seven years to learn about all of their secrets. "So," she began, bringing her attention back to the girl in front of her. "Tell me about Hogwarts. What house are you in?" She turned her attention down to the drawing that had fallen out earlier and cut Annie's finger. "And what is that that you drew?"

Annie nodded her head in understanding as Victoria told her about her parents. "Though I'm a half-blood I never went to a muggle school. I was home schooled and behind in learning most of the time due to my parents both having full time jobs and only being able to teach ne at night." She shrugged and then thought for a second before bursting out in a bubbly laughter.
"Maybe that's why I'm not a Ravenclaw like my mom, though I get my extrovertness from my dad's side. You think I'm a book worm, oh the whole school knew my mom as the witch who always had her nose in a book!" Her smile started to fade, but her eyes were still lit up with amusement when she composed herself, not wanting to disturb other people in the library.
"Your parents are right you know? Everyone has their own path in life and everyone experiences things at their own rate, I'm sure you'll live it here, once you get used to this big ol' place.." Annie noticed the other girl had stopped talking about the past and returned to the present, asking her a few questions. She replied simply. " Well, I'm a Hufflepuff and Hogwarts is well, big. You have the several cooridors filled with classrooms of all shapes and sizes, the dining hall, the library of which we are currently in, house common rooms and dormitories, bathrooms galore, almost as many of those as there are classrooms I swear.." Her cheeks became flushed as she rambled out some words. She took a few breaths before continuing. And that's only the inside, outside is huge as well,
but not as easy to get lost about. You have the Forbidden Forest, The Great Lake, Herbology is located outside you know, where all the green houses are spread around and the Quiddich Pitch among other things.
Annie rubbed her temple after listing off some main places and their locations. She nearly jumped out of her seat when the girl asked another question, this time an easier one for her to answer. "Ah my picture? It's a rough sketch of a Hippogriff. I don't know if you know what that is but it's a magical creature with the front part which include it's head, wings and front legs are of an eagle and back legs and tail of a horse." The Hufflepuff shrugged. I like magical creatures but I can't take the Care of Magical Creatures class yet so I draw and read about them instead."
She slid the paper towards the curious girl. You can keep it if you want, it may just be a sketch but I'd like you to have it. Maybe as a token of our friendship? Annie offered a small smile and wondered how Victoria was getting along with attending Hogwarts and all of her classes and homework.

Leaning back slightly in her chair, Victoria smiled as Annie spoke. The girl across from her was so nice, it was no wonder she was a Hufflepuff. She seemed to have a lot of energy too though, as she talked so much. Victoria didn’t mind though, she loved sitting there listening to her new friend describe all things Hogwarts, especially with the enthusiasm she gave. Finally, Annie began to tell her about Hippogriffs and then handed her the drawing, as a token of their friendship. The red-head’s eyes lit up as she took the drawing. She beamed as she admired it. “This must have taken you forever!” she exclaimed. “It is beautiful, thank you so much.”
For a few more minutes, she looked at the picture, studying the lines and the pieces that created the creature. What an exquisite thing. As she looked at it, she couldn’t help but want to meet one. “Where do they live?” she wondered. “Have you ever seen one in person?”
Pulling her bag up to the table, she grabbed a folder and safely tucked the picture away in it. When she got back to her dorm, she would display it above her bed on her bulletin board. For now, though, she wanted to find a way to meet one of these amazing creatures, and she was hoping Annie would have an idea on how to make that happen.ReducioInteracting with @Annie Morgan
