Escapes
Cecily's heart beat faster as the other girl tried to decline her offer. She was getting this girl on her broom if it was the last thing she ever did. Cecilia clearly wanted to fly so, so badly, and Cecily knew that if she could make that happen, then goddammit, she would.
The blonde let out a sigh of accepted the other girl accepted her offer. It was an unusual feeling, doing a kind deed for someone she barely knew, but it sent warmth throughout her body despite the chill in the air. Making other people happy was not exactly her forte-- typical interactions with other students ended with the other person probably thinking Cecily would rather be anywhere else than talking to them, but Cecilia seemed truly excited, and it warmed Cecily's heart. It was just small offer, just a ride on a broom, but it was clearly making the other Ravenclaw's day. Perhaps life was about the little things: letting a shy Quidditch-obsessed girl ride your broom, because she would never get the chance to do it otherwise.
With a grin from ear to ear, Cecily hefted her broom and held it out to the other girl. "I'm sure it'll be fine," she said softly, encouraging the girl to take it. The Nimbus was her prized possession, yes, but she was sure this girl would be careful with it. Well...she hoped.
ooc: i am honestly so sorry you have to read this post. i promise my next one will be better-- and hopefully won't take five weeks to get around to, oops.

Escapes

Okay. Somebody literally just offered you to fly their Nimbus 2001 and now you're doing it. Cecily's heart pounded with excitement and nervousness. She was actually about to fly. Her dream for many years was finally coming true. Hands shaking, Cecelia took the broom from the Ravenclaw's hands. She dearly hoped the girl hadn't seen her shaking hands, because she knew for a fact if she did the girl would take the broom away. But as Cecily got ahold of the broom, she felt almost calm. It was amazing. Amazingly freaky. Taking a deep breath, Cecily took a couple of steps away from the other Cecily and readied herself. Carefully and slowly she put the Nimbus 2001 between her legs and tightly gripped the front of the broomstick. She closed her eyes, mumbled a quick prayer that she would hopefully make it out alive, and then as hard as she could, kicked off the ground just as she was taught in Flying class.
Just a split second later, Cecily was already making her way up, up, up, and up in the air. It all happened so fast, Cecily hardly even knew what she was doing. After a couple of seconds, Cecily realized. She was flying. Actually flying on her own. No teacher, no instructor, no parents, and no siblings to tell her to get down. And well, she had Cecily there, but she dearly hoped that the Ravenclaw wouldn't tell her to get down.
Cecily drifted around the Quidditch Pitch, carefully directing her broom so she wouldn't run into the stands. She had never felt so free. It was a surreal moment. She never wanted it to end. After thinking about it, she knew she could do this for hours. And her deep love for Quidditch and flying became even more genuine and strong. What was so bad about such a beautiful and breathtaking sport? And even flying? Who would ever not want to fly? In the air?
A few moments passed, Cecily continued to fly around, barely paying attention to anything. Then, all of the sudden... Woosh! A strong gust of cold wind hit Cecily hard, and Cecily went flying forwards on her broom, unable to stop herself. Everything happened so fast, Cecily could barely react. Unsure what was happening in those two seconds, Cecily gripped the front of the broom as hard as she could, knowing the wind was going to knock her off. A few seconds later, Cecily hung high in the air, her hands only on the front of the broom.
Her heart pounded. She wouldn't have enough strength to pull herself up. She wasn't really a strong girl physically. Barely believing this had happened, Cecily looked down. Something she instantly regretted doing. Oh! How high she was off the ground! Her breaths were faster now, and she squeezed her eyes shut, hoping something would magically appear and then all of the sudden she would be safe on the ground again. But nothing happened. Nothing came, except another gust of wind that nearly pushed her to the ground.
"Cecily! Cecily! Help! Please! Oh, goodness. Who am I?" she called to Cecily, hoping the girl would hear all the way from the ground. Surely the girl must have been watching her this whole time? Right? Because if not, Cecelia was definitely in a bit of a pickle.
ooc: sorry this post is literally the worstt. it's been a really busy couple of weeks. I'll try to respond sooner next time!

Escapes
The other girl tenderly took the broom out of Cecily's hands and mounted it, and neither of the Cecilys could keep a smile off of their face. The blonde girl watched as the other girl kicked off the short grass and rose higher, higher into the sky, quickly becoming comfortable on the broom. The girl and the broom lazily circled the pitch, giving the posts a wide berth but still looking like she was having the time of her life, and Cecily knew immediately that she was going to let the other girl take all the time in the world drifting through the grey sky. The shape of the girl became a blur of colour as Cecily's eyes watered from the wind whipping across the pitch, and she lifted a hand to shield her freezing nose from its chill.
It was impossible to make out the other girl's expression from so far below, but Cecily could easily picture her face. She could almost feel the girl's emotions-- she knew exactly how it felt, even from her place on the ground. Cecily had felt the same thing, the first time she had flown. It was a unique feeling, the emotions that accompanied flying high above the ground, kilometers away from anything that mattered. That never got old, would never go away. It was like nothing else you could ever experience on the ground; it was like nothing else on the earth. It was exhilaration, it was freedom, it was ecstacy. It was like you could stay up there forever and never come down. Never touch the ground again, never be bothered again, never deal with a worry or a homework or a fight. She wanted to live in the breeze, in the wind, in the wide open sky that she could only see all of when she was a hundred feet off the ground. It was bliss, flying. It was everything that you could imagine and more. It was dangerous, it was risky--
It was dangerous. Cecily gasped as Cecily wobbled once, twice, then was shoved off of the broom by the gusty, frigid wind that was surely much more aggressive so far up. The other gril managed to hold on to the shaft of the broom, but just barely-- her feet swung free, and another gust of wind could come at any moment. Oh shit. Oh shit shit shit. This was not good. In fact, this was very, extremely bad. Perhaps, just maybe it would not be so good for the two girls' budding friendship if one of them ended up in the hospital wing because of Cec's stupid, dumb, goddamn reckless idea. Oh, right this was why she didn't talk to people! It always ended in disaster.
Cecily let out a string of curse words as she looked around for anyone, anything. Another person, another broom, anything she could use to make sure the other Ravenclaw didn't end up a Raven-pancake. But there was nothing. Absolutely no one, anywhere. How was this possible? Usually the practice pitch was a flurry of activity. Oh right, she remembered. They were the only ones stupid enough to fly on a windy freaking February day. An endless stream of curses left the young girl's mouth as she wracked her brain for something to do, some way to help the other girl. If she just had a broom, she could fly up there-- but naturally, there was none to be found. Because why on earth would there be something to make this easy for her?
Jesus. By the time she managed to get something helpful going, Cecily will have already lost her grip. Cecily was useless, there was nothing she could do. She was in a goddamned school of magic, and she couldn't come up with one solution to this problem. Why was she in Ravenclaw again? Oh, right. Because of her scathing wit. Because that was definitely super helpful right now. Thinking up good insults on the spot would surely save the other Cecily. Yep, her uselessness was definitely starting to become her most prominent attribute. That was just dandy. Cecily huffed as she cast her gaze once more up to the girl hanging high in the sky. There had to be something she could do. Magic, magic-- there had to be a spell, right? A charm. She cast her memory back to that class. It was one of the only classes she had actually paid attention to (what could she say? she wasn't very work-oriented), and there had to be something that any of the various professors had taught them that could be useful in this situation. Something to lower the other girl safely to the ground.
Suddenly-- that was it! God, it took her long enough. It was at the very end of her second year-- the Descending Spell. Theoretically it should make Cecily float nicely to the ground; or, at least, that's what Cecily thought it would do. If she cast it correctly. Which, of course, was going to be the hardest part. She was a natural on a broom, but with a wand in her hand? A completely different story.
Cecily took a deep breath and drew her wand out of her pocket. Squinting and aiming at the girl stranded high in the sky, she really, really hoped that it wouldn't make the other girl plummet to the ground. That would certainly defeat the entire purpose of using the spell to begin with. In that case-- well, in theory once more, she could cast the Levitation Charm to keep her from hitting the ground too hard.
Knowing full well that there had to be a better solution to this situation, Cecily pointed her wand, and with a prayer to whatever gods up above, cast the spell. "Descendo." A blue light flew out of the tip of her wand towards the girl in the sky. Well, if she was going to manage to screw herself over, it would certainly happen now of all times.
