Books. Rows and rows of books, all so different to the other. Even the books with seemingly identical covers and sizes can vary in their content wildly. To Lemon, books are very similar to people. Some may appear boring and generic, but contain secrets of worlds previously unknown in the pages. The cover is simply an aid in hinting at what sort of wonderful knowledge lies inside.

The library was now like Lemon's escape. It was quiet, it wasn't too brightly lit, there were no strong smells of bubble gum or body odour. It appealed to Lemon's differences. Being autistic, they found that corridors, the Great Hall, the common room and even their own dorm at times to be extremely stressful. Whenever it became too much, they'd find comfort in the library.

Lunch times were especially stressful. The Great Hall was always full to burst with students talking and enjoying their lunch break. It had become a routine for Em now to eat as quickly as they could, or perhaps even sneak a bread roll into their bag to take with them, and then rush to the library.

Lemon was sitting at one of the old wooden tables in the corner of the library that break. They looked around at the shelves surrounding them, encased in a palace of pages. They stood, moving slowly to one of the shelves. Scanning the titles, one book in particular caught their eye. They reached in to pull out the book, holding on to its pale green cover with gold letters. Just as the book was getting free of the other however, it fell to the ground, the sound echoing.

Finishing homework during lunch was not on Eira's to-do list, but she wanted to get a head start on her wand work and research for her DADA paper. Definitely not going to procrastinate on her Potions and Herbology essays.

Normally, she would've chosen to do her homework in the courtyard or maybe in the common room but her housemates had taken it upon themselves to have some sort of gobstone tournament and the smell of stink sap was not something she was looking forward to.

So now, she's quietly maneuvering her way through the rows of shelves, students clustered on several tables and saw the iron gates that showed the beginnings of the Restricted Section; one of the more interesting places she sorely wanted to check in the castle.

Spying a quiet spot near the window, Eira placed her satchel on the table and tied her long hair with a ribbon. Her snake skin necklace shone against the reflection of the sunlight as she took out a sheaf of parchment and prepared her pot of ink before she realized that she needed more materials for her Astrology chart.

She liked studying about constellations and stars but she's sure she won't make a career out of it. Silently, she stood up from her chair and wandered through the shelves to look for appropriate sources when a loud thump of something heavy almost made her jump.

She looked behind the shelves and saw another student with curious streaks of blue, pink and green on their long hair. They stood still and didn't show that they're going to pick up the heavy tome.

Eira tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and made her way towards the student and carefully peeked at them.

"Hello" she greeted, "Are you alright?"

"Hello. Are you alright?" Lemon looked behind them and saw a girl in Slytherin robes peering at them. They recognised the student: she had been in some of Em's classes at Hogwarts. "Fine. Just dropped a book," they responded, bending down to pick the book up off of the floor, their hair falling around their face as they did so. Straightening up again, Lemon placed the book on to the wooden table where they were settled at, carefully this time, and turned to face the student.

"I've seen you in some of my classes, haven't I?" Lemon's memory was not the most reliable source. "I'm Lemon. Although, you'd probably know that already. Everyone looks up from their desks when they hear my name being called. Not that I'm famous or anything... yet," they added in a playful tone. "I just have a very weird name. It suits me though." They paused to look at the girl. She had long, chocolate coloured hair and bright blue eyes. Here features were striking. "Sorry, I'm not the best with names, my memory is really quite appalling, but I do try to remember. What's your name?" They asked, not entirely sure of whether or not they'd already asked or been introduced.

Eira tried hard to remember a Lemon in her class, faintly recalling it during a roll-call for Charms but she hasn't placed a face for the name until now.

Realizing that Lemon had asked for her name, she gave a polite smile and a short curtsy. "Eira Reyne Cravensworth," she answered. She needs to stop introducing herself with a curtsy- last time she did that, some of her classmates thought she was a snobby aristocrat. Old habits indeed die hard, as they say.

"And yes, I do think we share some classes. Charms and... Potions, I think," she hummed. "But don't fret, I think Lemon is a fine name. My parents named me after the first letters of their own so I can't complain," she ended with a giggle.

She spied on the book Lemon had picked up, "Oh, are you doing homework here as well? I usually finish mine after dinner, but I wanted to practice on my wand work. Professor Fresnel said I should 'use more wrist' so my spellcasting would be accurate."

Apart from Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms is easily her favorite subject, though Professor LΓ©cuyer had voiced his concern that Eira was a bit too keen on learning about pure-blood families who practiced forbidden magic.

Plus, having someone around is a nice experience rather than sitting alone by her lonesome in the common room. They said that Slytherins stick together, however, she hasn't found a kinship with anyone in her house.

The girl introduced herself as Eira Reyne Cravensworth, and did a little curtsy as she did. "And yes, I do think we share some classes. Charms and... Potions, I think. But don't fret, I think Lemon is a fine name. My parents named me after the first letters of their own so I can't complain," she responded with a giggle. Her eyes had drifted to the book that Lemon had just picked up. "Oh, are you doing homework here as well? I usually finish mine after dinner, but I wanted to practice on my wand work. Professor Fresnel said I should 'use more wrist' so my spellcasting would be accurate."

Lemon laughed at this, and waved their hand around limply in a hilariously theatrical manner. "I must say, I've surprised myself with how well I've been doing in Charms so far. I'm just hoping it will last until my NEWTs or at least the OWLs," they added, trying not to sound too boastful. "Defence Against the Dark Arts isn't doing too well for me right now... you'll never guess the first grade I got," Lemon looked around. "You wanna join me?" they asked, taking a seat at the wooden table they'd been sitting at. "I'm not doing homework, just... honestly I'm not sure what I'm doing here. I guess I'll see where my spontaneity takes me," they confessed, shrugging.

"You wanna join me? I'm not doing homework, just... honestly I'm not sure what I'm doing here. I guess I'll see where my spontaneity takes me" Lemon proposed, giving a nonchalant shrug.

A touch of happiness bloomed in Eira's chest, causing the girl to nod excitedly and sprint to the lone table where she placed her things. Arms laden with the parchment and bottle of ink, Eira mumbled a quick apology to a gaggle of Gryffindor girls clustered on a shelf nearby.

Carefully, she chose the seat that was opposite Lemon's and began rearranging her belongings. Usually she would be the one who had to initiate any conversation and invitations and whilst most would take up on her invites for breaks or maybe a spot of conversation before they will eventually leave for other people.

Shaking the negative thought from her head, Eira folded the fresh parchment and began to write her name and the subject.

"Oh I'm quite sure your grade on Defense Against the Dark Arts is not worse than my Herbology and Potions homework. The first time I tried brewing Herbicide potion, I almost melted the bottom of my cauldron, almost got detention for it if it weren't for my seatmate throwing honeywater to cool it down," she replied, face growing pink when the cauldron's contents ended up being purple and tar-like rather than green.

"Speaking of OWLS and NEWTS" Eira continued, listing down the ingredients needed for the Forgetfulness potion, "Have you ever thought about what your career will be once you have graduated from Hogwarts? I'm confident to say I won't ever be a potioneer like my mum or have a green thumb to keep a weed alive."

Thinking about what she asked, Eira realized she made a mistake. When talking to new acquaintances, you should ask about their family and how they found other classes; like if they found Transfiguration as confusing as she does or if they managed to stay upside on a broomstick whereas she spent three-quarters of the class trying to even have the bloody thing ascend to her hand.

'Relax' she soothed herself, 'Don't overthink. Madam Roscov said that one must hold their poise no matter the situation.'
