For as long as she had known, Nora had been afraid of heights. She was never able to jump down from the play structure like the other kids and was too skittish for even the easiest of diving boards. When she looked down from 2 feet, it felt like 200, and she froze up. There was this one movie, The Haunting, that her mother dearly loved, where one of the characters had immediately jumped off of an old staircase the second that it started rattling. He said it was his self-preservation. But if that had been Nora, she knew her instinct would have been to sit down and hold tight. Walking up there wouldn't have been the hard part even, but the second she reached the top, she'd have no idea what to do next. In fact, she was a pretty nimble climber (perhaps the only area besides martial arts where she wasn't a klutz), and often climbed to the top of her school from the bathroom window during lunch. However, when she was ready to go down, she'd spam her friends until they offered her a hand.
Unfortunately for Nora, this time, there were no friends. Or at least, no accessible ones. And there was no way that she was jumping down from this thing. Because currently, she was sitting on the hoop of a rickety wooden post, clinging to it for dear life with each hand.
She'd climbed up it to see if she could, not thinking about the consequences, as usual. And now, she was stuck. Utterly, completely stuck. At least it wasn't the normal goalposts, she reflected, thinking of the massive hoops that reigned over the regular quidditch pitch. They were 30 feet in height, and jumping from those would break every bone in her body. The training ones, however, would only break a few. Plus, she was hitting grass. That was basically a natural mattress! Gritting to her teeth, Nora prepared to jump, looking down and-- Nope. Nope, nope, nope. She leaned back again, gripping the hoop harder. There was no way that was safe.
Well, then, she would need some help. Did wingardium leviosa work on humans? She guessed not. Looking around, Nora considered calling out, to see if anyone would hear her. There had got to be someone else nearby, the area was rarely empty for long. In fact, she was surprised that no one had been practicing when she'd wandered in, no one getting ready for the tryouts, or the first match, or anything. She was hardly aware of any of the sports things going on at her school, (which she should, seeing as her roommates were a chaser and a duellist), but there had to be something to prepare for. And even if not, maybe a wandering student who was just passing by would hear her calls. Nora had to at least try.

November 1, 2024 (23:52)Saturday, the day she had nothing to do. Honestly, the young Villa didn’t know why she went out on the training pitch, she didn't even play the damned sport! Ara didn’t go out that much, the girl stayed inside for most of her free time (ok, more like all of her free time). She had her orange juice at hand as she roamed around the pitch. The juice packaging was peculiar, it was stored in a box with a straw and not a glass but it was more convenient. She acquired it via her brother who was overseas and sent her some western trinkets along with the juice.
The blue haired girl wore some beige wide-leg trousers and a blue-tinted long sleeve button-up under a comfortable grey sweater vest. As for footwear, she wore some white lace up sneakers. Her hair was down as usual as there weren’t many styles you can do with short hair compared with longer lengths.
It was secluded so it had a certain charm to it. The crumbling stone walls surrounding the old wooden goalposts stand on opposite sides of the pitch. The way going there wasn’t as glamorous as the stadium, the dirt footpath was worn down with age. She needed a book or something to be entertained by because of the emptiness.
She loitered around aimlessly until she spotted a girl holding on to a rather… unsteady wooden post as if her life depended on it. The girl was sitting on the practice hoops. There were a few muffled calls. Ara shrugged at first, ‘Eh maybe someone was feeling like inviting themselves to death’s door.’ she thought. The fourteen year old girl heard a faint yell coming from that direction and replied just in case. She yelled spoke up a “Hey?” to the girl. Not knowing what to expect, she just replied. She wasn’t in a rush so what’s the harm? There wasn’t anyone else at the pitch anyway so who the hell were they calling out to? God?

At last, her saviour! Nearly immediately after calling out, Nora heard a faint voice answer from down below. She quickly spun in its direction, only remembering at the last second to grip the hoop tightly lest she lose her balance. It was not in her plans to die in the first month of school. Carefully now, she looked down at the person who'd responded to her plea. They were just a smudge to her without her glasses (she'd stopped wearing in the second year and was beginning to regret it), but she could make out that it was most likely a girl, and she was indeed looking up at Nora.
"Oi!" Nora exclaimed, daring to lift an arm and wave, "You down there! Mind giving me hand?" She looked down, judging the distance between her and the girl. A little less than there was between her and the ground, but only a little less. Still not close enough for her to be of any actual use. At least... not without magic.
"Do you know wingardium leviosa?" Nora asked, straining to better view her onlooker. She didn't look like a first-year, but you never knew. "You couldn't levitate me, but you could try to levitate my clothes. I'd lift with them." She might have been able to do this herself, but she'd stupidly left her wand, as well as her bag, at the bottom of the post. To be fair, it'd seemed unrealistic to climb while carrying a load of stuff.
Nora really hoped this girl wasn't a first-year. Otherwise, she might be stuck up here for ages. She didn't want a teacher-- she was probably breaking some rule by climbing up here-- and she doubted most eleven-year-olds would have the patience or the sense to find another student who could help her. They'd probably give up, be too nervous to approach anyone or tell too many people, and give Nora's friends one more thing to tease her about. However, she should have some faith. This was probably a second or third year anyway, considering they didn't look meek and puny. Actually, Nora thought she could make out shoulder-length black hair and a blue sweater. Could this mean she was a Ravenclaw? Nora didn't know how she felt about that house; she liked them better than Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs, at least. The former she disliked out of principal, while the latter she had a grudge against because of a stuck-up one she'd met in the first year. Nora furrowed her brow.
"You happen to be a Slytherin, by any chance?"

Feb 16 2025 (16:43)Ara tilted her head slightly at the girl's request to help her down. A part of her wanted to just say "Nope" then walk away but that'd be a bit too mean, with the fact that she was the only one there that could help the poor thing. She wasn't much of a helper, more like someone who got annoyed and would probably just help a person out when it's pitiful to watch them any longer. "Rude, plus my hand can't really reach you up there." she deadpanned at the wording.
The weird girl then suggested using Wingardium Leviosa, which the young Villa quickly dismissed. "That spell would make you go higher" she cleared her throat. "Might eliminate the fear of falling down that old pole but it will make a new problem: you falling down from a higher height." Ara put her hands on her hips as she looked up at the reckless girl. The blue haired girl sighed. 'How the hell did they get up there anyway?' she asked herself.
Ara looked up and down the post, again wondering if she should just leave them. Her thoughts were interrupted by the girl on the post asking if she was a Slytherin. "I think it was quite obvious." she scoffed. "Do you think when you're about to do some reckless shit? Cause I'm quite sure you don't" the girl raised a brow as she sipped from her juice box.
"I can't climb up that dirty post either, these are designer" she added after noticing the wood of the post. Some might say Ara might have some mercy for human life at heart but in reality, she would rather die than have her clothes soiled forever.

Nora rolled her eyes. Well, duh. Obviously, the girl couldn't physically give her a hand. It was an expression! A common one, at that. Plus, Nora thought Wingardium Leviosa was a pretty good idea, thank you very much. Maybe not perfect, but she didn't see this girl offering up any better ones. All she was standing there, sipping her juice and looking annoyed. That doesn't help at all when you're over ten feet in the air. However, Nora was thankful she was there at all. Worst case scenario, she could have been out there for hours before someone came along.
"I think it was quite obvious," answered the dark-haired girl. So she was a Slytherin. That figured... Sipping from her juice box, she added, "Do you think when you're about to do some reckless shit? Cause I'm quite sure you don't"
What the literal hell?
"No, I clearly didn't think!" she called down indignantly. W0w, was that uncalled for. Sure, it was mostly-- okay, entirely Nora's fault that she was in this position, but still-- it was a very scary position to be in, and maybe she could have the tiniest bit more grace!
"I can't climb up that dirty post either, these are designer" replied the girl. Nora's response was to squint and furrow her brow like she'd just bit into a lemon. She just couldn't believe some people.
"I never expected you to climb, that wouldn't help anything, but my god is that a bad reason not to," Nora said, flinging her hand up in exasperation. "There is literally a cleaning spell!"
"Okay, since you're shooting down all my ideas, what do you suggest, oh wise one?" Nora retaliated. She shifted her position to rest her head on her hands, and tightened her legs around the hoop. All she could do now was wait and hope that this girl could find a way to get her down, a way other than just making her want to jump...

4th of June 2025 (12:53am))Ara's cheeks slightly hollowed as she took a long sip from her juice box just before the straw made that obnoxious slurping noise that told her the box was empty. It tasted good while it lasted at least. She kept her lips on the straw before pulling it out of her mouth with a quiet sigh, finally tilting her head up to meet the girl still dangling from the training hoop like a misguided koala who had taken a very, very wrong turn. "You're really talking back while dangling off a cursed broom ring like a poorly hung towel." Ara muttered, unimpressed.
Blinking once before speaking, "First of all, I’m not ‘shooting down your ideas’ because they’re my ideas. I’m shooting them down because they’re bad ideas. Bad ideas that will get you splattered like a pancake, and I’m not about to be listed as a witness on your hospital report.”
Her arms crossed in front of her chest now, foot tapping lightly on the grass. “Second, you did think. You thought, ‘Hey, I’m going to climb up a training hoop for absolutely no reason and with no plan to get down,’ which isn’t bravery, it’s just brain rot.” She smiled slightly condescendingly.
"You know," she began again, tone cool, “if I didn’t help you, you'd probably end up making the front page of the school paper. ‘Clumsy Third Year Tries to Fly Without a Broom, Ends in Tragedy.’” Her lips curled into a faint smirk. “Honestly, I’m torn between being a decent human being and letting natural selection run its course.”
She wasn’t even sure why she was still standing there. Ara didn’t usually get involved in other people’s problems. It was messy, loud, full of energy she didn’t care to waste. And yet, something about the sheer audacity of this girl’s situation made it hard to walk away. “Well,” Ara sighed once more, “you’re lucky I’m not in one of my ‘let idiots suffer’ moods.” She reached into her satchel, and pulled out her wand. “Since someone forgot theirs,” she muttered, flicking it lazily in her hand before stepping back for a better view.
"Jump, will ya?" She paused. “Or,” she added with a dramatic shrug, “you can just stay up there. Make it your new home. See if the birds will adopt you.” The girl flicked her wand again. "Kidding. Arresto Momentum." She moved her wand in an M shape.
Ara didn’t usually get involved in other people’s problems. It was messy, loud, full of energy she didn’t care to waste. And yet, something about the sheer audacity of this girl’s situation made it hard to walk away. With the person's stubborn refusal to just slide off and break her neck already, with her dramatics and her poor planning—it was kind of impressive. In the same way that watching someone try to carry six plates with one hand was impressive: totally doomed, but fascinating to witness.
