March 3rdWhen the young Pettely sought the elder snake up once more Matthew couldn't help but revel in the fact that at least some things in the school might remain normal. His whole world over the last few months had been a disaster movie worthy of Hollywood and the break back to the mundane was greatly welcomed. How duelling had become something normal to him was as insane as it sounded but alas that was the way things went.
Unlike the last time Matthew had no preparation or inclination as to who Pettely was going to bring to the piste. The young badger had certainly proven he was capable of taking on years above his own but everything would be find as long as it wasn't a snake from his own year, at least not one that attended the event early last month. However, of course fate would never give Campbell a day off and as Atlas Anderson walked into the club he couldn't help but wince biting down on his inner lip to not let the sound emit from his mouth.
While he didn't exactly have any personal interactions with the particular student, Atlas no doubt had heard about the alleged poisoning Matthew had inflicted upon them that night and thus there relationship was almost certainly geared towards the negative from the get go. Still, he was a professional, right, he could ignore any potential ill intentions Atlas may harbour towards him as long as he didn't aim for him instead of Pettely. The last thing he needed was another trip to the infirmary, the multiple in February were quite enough.
Deciding to opt for the much more clinical style this time around Matthew simple welcomed the pair with a polite smile, "Good to see you both, lets get this duel started shall we!". Quickly refreshing the rules and instructing them to take their places he allowed the wizards a moment to settle and ready their wands before he lit his own with a bright yellow "Lumos," and let fate take the wheel.I N F O R M A T I O NGood luck and most importantly have fun!

The adrenaline rushing through his veins, the tension, the satisfaction of winning against a formidable adversary. And most importantly, bragging rights. All of those things were rewarded to Pettely during and after the duel which occurred in March 2nd. Truly, it was the best sport to ever to exist. Pettely sought another match. However, due to the sudden victory in his previous duel, the little badger did not desire to compete against mere 1st years. Such things were below him, inferiors.
Of course, the arrogance in him hoped to fight older students, since dueling against them will give another opportunity to prove what his capable of.
That's exactly what Pettely got. Another 2nd year, surprisingly, agreed to compete with him. Pettely was completely unaware of Atlas, until he had decided to request him to duel. The fact that he was a stranger did not bother him. Almost everyone in Hogwarts weren't farmiliar with Pettely. If they were, he didn't leave with a pleasant reputation.
Matthew, the boy who had previously moderated Pettely's duel, also agreed to take part. Not as an opponent, but as a neutral who assured their safety and good sportsmanship.
Before the duel began, a grin crawled up on Pettely's face. Imagining, the victory which will soon occur, his opponent defeated. Laying on the floor unconscious. while Pettely's ego grows superfluously, and never ending arrogance filling up the room.

Deadly Education
With the calm facial expression the young slytherin entered the dueling piste, his dark robes trailed behind him as he moved with effortless elegance. His watchful, calculating eyes reflected sharply from the flickering torchlight in the dueling chamber against the silver trim of his attire—the display of a silent intensity that seemed to weigh the air around him but there were no sign of excitement or fear. His smooth wand lay in his hand with the familiarity that indicated it was more than a tool that it was an extension of his very own will.
Although he had participated in duels previously, there was something intriguing about this one. The young Huffelpuff Pettely seemed eager or rather, he seemed like a whirlwind of ambition encased in conceit, but Atlas wasted no effort on such bluster. He judged his opponents on the skill of their technique rather than their level of confidence.
The aspiring duelist stood motionless—his eyes did not blink as Matthew recited the rules. A part of him laughed at the young boy's enthusiasm which was innocent but admirable. However, emotion had no place in dueling and this was clearly about fun and a tester of his strength. He let out a slow deliberate exhale and with practiced ease, he raised his wand and was determined to destroy Pettely's expectations and the picture of victory he seemed to have already conjured up in his mind.

March 3rdIt took less than a second for fire to fling across the room and once again Matthew was wrapped up in the thrill of duelling. It was an intoxicating experiencing watching spells hurl across the room at one another that far outweighed the perceived thrill sport was meant to have. In truth, before Matthew came to Hogwarts he had never cared for any kind of sport preferring solitary physical activities like hiking, but duelling was something else entirely. The exhilaration of both hitting and being hit was euphoric.
The sting of his last duel's horrendous outcome did haunt him as he watched Pettely's flames just graze past the cheek of the elder student. Not a direct hit but still damage dealt and seemingly enough to throw Atlas' own spell off target. Say what you want about his attitude, and trust me there was plenty to be said, but Pettely was a prodigy and Matthew couldn't help but remark upon it. "Well done Pettely, guess you're not just a one time wonder." There was snarl in his voice enough to lightly antagonise the badger. Matthew knew the young boys attitude was his worst enemy but he was not likely to drop it unless he saw the negativity it spawned.
Regardless, the match-up this time around seemed far more even footed and Matthew looked forward to what his fellow snake might bring to the table. While he couldn't quite meet the eyes of Mr Anderson, he announced in his general direction, "If you're going to be a viper you better show them that Slytherin venom!"I N F O R M A T I O NReducioGood luck and most importantly have fun!

Deadly Education
Atlas didn’t flinch as the fire licked his cheek, the heat of the fire seared against his skin for a moment before it could dissipate into the air behind him. He felt a sting registering but he dismissed it with a blink because there was no time to cry during these duels. But he was no stranger to pain, nor was he one to let the first strike dictate the match because this could turn out either way for the battling duo. Matthew’s remark slithered into the air between them and even though the young boy did not grace him with a glance, he acknowledged the words that were told to him. "If you're going to be a viper you better show them that Slytherin venom!"
How fitting...
The boy had no intention of disappointing, yet unlike the other Slytherins, his venom did not manifest in snarls or biting retorts—because Atlas was methodical and calculative in most instances and that was his greatest weapon that was left to simmer beneath the surface. He took a slow measured step forward as he pressed his boots against the dueling piste with deliberate weight.
His gaze sharpened as it scrutinized and flickered toward his opponent. Pettely had undeniable talent—but talent alone did not win duels, instead control did. The young badger’s fire had been thrown with much confidence but confidence was not enough to win either. Atlas exhaled, his heart beat in rhythm with the unspoken calculations running through his mind.

The flame soared across the room, grazing against his adversary, whilst Pettely ducked to avoid the one heading in his own directon. However, Pettely's gaze remained towards his opponent, so did his wand. He squeezed it tightly in celebration, and mimed shooting an invisibile bullet with his index finger.
'Pew!'
He mouthed.
Despite all this, Pettely's grin faded slightly as he noticed his opponent's lack of reaction, and even started to wonder if the spell had hit in the first place. 'I remember it touching his face, it did touch his face, right? What game is he playing here? But if he was trying to psyche him out, what good is it showing it was succesful? What good is it showing that he managed to unerve him, without even saying a word? Without even moving for that matter.
Pettely hesitated for a momment. He had never been able to discourage or unerve someone before without the power of his vocabulary arsenal. An ominous feeling about his opponent creapt up on him, like a venomous snake, but surely this was not the end of Pettely's arrogance. That feeling of discourage, fear, all the negative emotions had been squashed inside his head A unique ability of his. It was merely temperory. The wand was still pointing towards his opponent, Pettely had not bothered to lower it. Instead, he twirled it around with his hand, but almost dropped it in shock as it shot small golden sparks out of it, the wand seemed to have disliked being spun.
"Ha, ha, I'll make sure you actually show signs of pain next time when I hit you. But just so you know, you don't make me nervous."

March 3rdWith some fighting talk from the young badger, that Matthew had become entirely accustomed to in their previous duel, the match was off to a fiery start. Though as it so often did, after the initial excite of the fiery start, things immediately slowed down in progress. The pair both took aim each shooting their opponent with different forms of nastiness and yet both would fly short of their target.
As a disgusting snot of bile shot from Pettely's wand Matthew found himself quite thankful he had not had to bare witness to the vile impacts of the curse of the bogies. Thankfully he himself had never been victim to the spell but he would feel compassion for anyone that was. Atlas, however, had gone for a strategy far more in keeping with the viciousness of the vipers. It summoned the boy back to his first duel when they triple knocked their opponent in a devastating blow. Times that were now far lost to the memory of him being knocked by a senior.
Of course Atlas' strike wouldn't have packed quite the same punch as a senior but in comparison to the young badger it was sure to have knocked him uncomfortably. Fate had not wished to see either act come to light and so the pair would ready their wands once again in preparation of round three. Let us hope that the next round might provide a little more entertainment or the young snake may grow bored.I N F O R M A T I O NReducioGood luck and most importantly have fun!
