Duna’s eyes widened when she heard the words Hocus Pocus. No way! That was her favorite movie! She and her parents would watch it ever Halloween, and some days in between too. Duna quickly pointed to herself when he mentioned it, trying to explain that she had seen it. Duna stopped as Pierre continued. Appearently he also had watched Halloween movies with his parents. Duna recognized most of the movies, but had only seen Coraline.

Duna was surprised to hear that Pierre was adopted, but was even more surprised to hear that he had never seen Hocus Pocus! How could he not? It was a classic! Duna shook her head before quickly turning and pointing at the movie that was now starting. “Watch” she signed.

After a moment a girl approached and greeted them. Duna smiled and waved at her as she walked away. ‘She was nice. Maybe she’d like a friendship bracelet?’ Duna thought, although she would have to do it later, the movie was starting!

Duna took off her oversized pastel pink sweater and set on the floor to sit on. She was wearing a long sleeved plain white shirt underneath, so she wasn’t cold. Duna stared at the projected screen excitedly, watching one of her favorite movies begin.

Much Love,

"No way!" Gem's eyes brightened a bit, quite pleased to see she'd been relieved about the outcome. She'd been happy to be around him, or, enough to look at least a little sad when he'd looked off for a minute. He wouldn't say it out loud, but that made him feel a bit special. Just a little bit.

There seemed to have been a momentary silence between the two, glancing at Piérre and the other person he'd been speaking with. In a silent agreement, they both scrambled up and made their way over to the Gryffindor. Looking at him again, he could never quite shake the weirdness he felt. Intimidation, sure, but there was something else-- he wasn't sure if it was positive or not, but he figured he wouldn't step on his own foot too long thinking about it.

"Yeh, I wanna know what e' whole tie thing's about. The, ehm, art project." He raised his eyebrows, a sly little grin making its way on his face. He liked pranks, and he especially liked to be a part of them. One two many times had he been the butt of a joke, he thought it fair to finally get his own taste of victory, whether it was in a collective or not.

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

Duna shook her head, her eyes wide as she listened to Piérre’s comment about having never seen Hocus Pocus. Piérre knew it was a classic, but he just didn’t know much about the movie itself. Judging by the title, it was about witches, three if her remembered correctly, but he didn’t remember much else about it.
“Watch”
Duna signed to him before taking off her enormous pastel pink sweater, setting it on the floor and sitting upon it. Multifunctional. Piérre liked that. Duna was engrossed by the screen, so Piérre smiled and shrugged before turning to watch the projection as well.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a movement and turned his head just in time to see Brielle and Gem approaching. Piérre smiled pleasantly as they came close, but even despite his comforting smile, Piérre still spotted a hint of apprehension in the eyes of the Ravenclaw boy. Piérre didn’t falter, but it left him wondering what in the world was the deal with that? Piérre had practiced for a long time to be bubbly and pleasant, always trying to make others laugh, and that was to deter people from being uncomfortable and asking questions that he didn’t want to bring up answers about, but that didn’t seem to be working on Gem.

He would just have to make it work. If things were brought up, he wouldn’t be ashamed of it.

Brielle was the first to speak, a mischievous smirk spreading appealingly across her features as she whispered to Piérre.
"Hey, we have a new member of the ties plan."
Almost immediately, Gem raised his eyebrow, an identical grin forming as he looked at Piérre inquisitively.
"Yeh, I wanna know what e' whole tie thing's about. The, ehm, art project."
Piérre smiled, completing the triangle of impish grins. Perhaps there was more to Gem than what met the eye after all. ”Aw, wouldn’t you like to know?” He teased lightly, tipping his head and squeezing the pillow in his arms tighter. He was inviting them to lean in. A practiced skill of his, to lure people in without revealing the truth. A little white lie, bordering on green.

”Okay, tell you what. You give me the ties, and then meet me in the corridors the next day. I’ll be there, don’t worry.” Piérre pinched two fingers at his forehead, as if gripping a brim of a ringleader’s hat. ”Oh, and be ready for a show. It’ll be... interesting.” Piérre smiled quietly before turning to Duna and gently bumping her shoulder. ”Hey Duna, meet some acquaintances. This is Brielle, and this is Gem.” Piérre pointed at each party as he named them.

Duna sat staring at the screen, barely even noticing the other two approach Pierre or the conversation taking place barely two feet away from her. She was lost in her thoughts and excitement, remembering all the times she’d seen this movie with her parents. It was a whole new experience seeing it with friends instead of family.

Duna was jolted out of her mind when Pièrre nudged her shoulder. She looked over, confused. “Hey Duna, meet some acquaintances. This is Brielle, and this is Gem.” Pièrre introduced the two other students Duna had just noticed standing next to Pièrre. A Ravenclaw and a Slytherin, both seemed to be first years like Duna and Pièrre.

“Hello! It’s great to meet you! I’m Duna.” Duna signed, smiling excitedly up at Gem and Brielle.

Duna quickly pulled her sweater out from under where she was sitting, rifling through its pockets to find what she was looking for. After a few seconds Duna pulled out about five different friendship bracelets. She always had a few on her for anyone new she might meet.

Duna held out her hand, as if to ask Gem and Brielle if they wanted one, offering them their pick from the jumble of colors.

Much Love,
Duna

She laughed as he toyed with Gem a little bit. She had to seemed to notice it earlier, but this was the second time he seemed to falter away from Piérre. Had he been intimidated by him? Sure, he was a little silly, but scary, she didn't seem to think so.. If anything she kinda liked him.

”Okay, tell you what. You give me the ties, and then meet me in the corridors the next day. I’ll be there, don’t worry.”

Now Brielle was curious, what could he possibly be up to? She knew it couldn't be good, and started to wonder if they would get in trouble. Though a possible little punishment didn't phase her. Sure, the school may give her detention, so what? If they we're having fun, why should she hold back?

'interesting..' He had added, the show would be apparently be interesting. She didn't doubt it, as she was certain it would be amusing. How could it not be? This was one of the funniest people Brielle was friends with. Not to mention, he seemed to be quite quick witted as well.

As she snuck a glance of the screen, she smiled, the scene had just showed a witch getting knocked of her broom. Though her focus wasn't kept for long when she was introduced to someone.

"Hey Duna, meet some acquaintances. This is Brielle, and this is Gem.”

Brielle waved softly at the girl in front of her and smiled. She seemed to be writing something down, and as she held it up, it seemed like she couldn't contain her excitement. She seemed to be digging in her sweater pockets for something, like whatever it was was important to this moment. When they became visible in-front of Brielle, she gasped fondly and pointed towards herself.

"For me?"

She questioned softly, seeming just as excited to wear one of the little dorm-made bracelets. Brielle delicately picked a pretty pastel purple bracelet and slipped it over her wrist, looking down at it with a goofy grin on her face. It would be a lie if she said she didn't care for sentimental items. If anything, she loved little things she could one day look back on and remember how she obtained it.

And for this, she got it a small movie party.

Gem sniffed, his eyes widening a little when he was offered a bracelet. Was she deaf? Or a selective mute? Or was she mute-mute? He could never tell, and he felt a bit too shy to ask. Instead, he looked very flattered and reached out to get himself a bracelet-- a primarily blue one, clearly very well made.

"That's very kind of you, thank you. Really, I mean it." He smiled at her, a kind, warm, small one. He attempted to tie it around his wrist, failing a few times due to clumsiness, but he got the knot around it eventually. His attention was turned back to Piérre, though, when he remembered the little plan. Of course, it wasn't elaborated on, but he could assume it would be something insanely chaotic. Or, as ‘insanely chaotic’ as you could get when you were working with ties.

Now that he sort of knew he couldn’t ask what the prank was, he turned back over to Duna. She’d signed stuff, it was a good thing Leland taught him a thing or two about sign language. He brought his hands up, attempting to recall some of the words that felt necessary to his question. He got it together, though.

Are you deaf or mute?

It was fairly straightforward, and he hoped to any holy light it wouldn’t hurt her feelings. He couldn’t express himself very well in sign language, much less if he’d only been practicing it for two or so years. He learned fast, he was good with his hands, he was just shy, mostly. It hadn’t yet occurred to him that Piérre had literally spoken to her to introduce them, and he suddenly felt very stupid. It was awful.

Wait, I’m sorry. Are you mute or selective mute? I forgot he introduced us out loud. Unless you can read lips, because that’s cool. I think it’s really cool.

Good save, Gem. Phenomenal.

Duna nodded excitedly at Brielle when she asked “For me?” Duna’s smile only grew bigger, which you wouldn’t think was possible, when Brielle chose a pastel bracelet. Duna was already wearing a few pastel bracelets of her own, along with a black and yellow one she and made to show her Hufflepuff pride. Also, other than her school robes, Duna’s entire wardrobe was all pastels. At least fifty percent of that was pink.

Duna looked over to Gem as he also chose a bracelet and spoke, "That's very kind of you, thank you. Really, I mean it." Duna nodded and made the simple sign of “Thank You.”

Duna placed her hand over her mouth and her shoulders bobbed as if she was giggling as she watched Gem attempt to put on his bracelet. Duna was about of offer her help when he finally managed to get it on.

Duna placed the remaining bracelets back into her sweater pocket before folding it neatly back into a cushion for her to sit on. When she looked back up she saw Gem fumbling with his hands, attempting to sign. After a few moments he seemed to get the hang of it. Are you deaf or mute? he asked.

Duna was filled with glee, it was on rare occasions that she met someone who could actually sign, although there seemed to be a few who knew sign language here. It was certainly making Duna’s experience at Hogwarts a lot easier. Duna was about to respond when Gem began signing again.

Wait, I’m sorry. Are you mute or selective mute? I forgot he introduced us out loud. Unless you can read lips, because that’s cool. I think it’s really cool.

Duna smiled warmly and shook her head, “It’s okay, a lot of people ask me that! I was born mute, can’t make a single sound. Also, I can’t read lips, but you’re right, that would be really cool!” She signed back. Her body language made it seem as if she were telling a joke or laughing while she signed. She had a happy and playful expression on her face.

Duna had completely forgotten about the movie, the idea of new friends completely consuming her attention.

Much Love,
Duna

“Hocus Pocus,” Maggie answered, in response to Charlotte’s question. Charlotte sat down between Maggie and Carson, and Maggie smirked a little when she noticed her quickly cuddle up to her best friend. Marian, Maggie’s other cousin, sat down next to her, and Maggie was beginning to feel a bit nervous about her movie choice as the two girls revealed that neither had seen a movie before.

“Woah.” Maggie laughed, “This is both of your guys’ first movies. No pressure or anything.” She was happy with her choice, though— you could never go wrong with Hocus Pocus.

Maggie turned her head as she heard a familiar voice from behind her, a smile growing on her face despite herself. Oliver sat down next to her, in between Charlotte and Maggie. He greeted her, and Maggie smiled once again, fully aware of the fact that she probably looked like a lovesick idiot.

“Holy shit,” Maggie breathed, a blush raging across her face as Oliver wrapped the braclet around her wrist. “That’s— that was really nice of you, Oli.”

Before she could convince herself it was a bad idea, Maggie quickly wrapped her arms around Oliver’s neck, embracing him in a quick, slightly awkward hug. She quickly drew back, blushing still, and leaned back into the pillow behind her, her eyes forcefully trained on the movie before her.

“Hey Galton!” Maggie waved, beaming at her old friend. “Come sit, will you?” Maggie was glad that he’d shown up— she hadn’t seen much of him since the incident in first year.

She leaned into Oliver’s shoulder, entangling her legs with Marian’s as she laughed with her friends. This party was going well, to say the least.

The invitation brought a larger smile to the lad's face. "Sit, yeah, totally..." The thought sat in Galton's head for a moment, slowly twisting into a contorted mess. "Sitting" would not be the exact word one would use for what Galton was picturing. The comfy environment seemed like an excellent padded place, somewhere Galton was sure he wouldn't be hurt from a bit of a fall.

His legs moved slightly above a brisk walk, closing the distance to Maggie's group quite quickly. When he was a meter or so away he leaped into the air. A large beanbag was the target for the airborne child. As he descended to the floor he began to say (more of a rushed yell) "Hey you guys I' - " Galton was cut off by his head hitting and being eaten by cushy fabric. The rest of his body landed with a soft thud, pushing the beanbag over a few centimeters.

"I'm Galton!" His head twisted out of the hole it had created on landing. He took a few seconds to twist and turn his head right-side up. The energy in the room may have been a bit relaxed, but the smell of sweet candy and salty snacks must've drove someone, other than himself, wild too. Thus, the only logical solution was a snack of his own, the family lollipops! He dug a hand around a pocket and exposed its contents.

Shattered candy and a few wooden sticks clinging to sad lolly remains where all that was found. Galton frowned. "Oh pixie dust!" He frowned for a sec. "Wait, I have more." More digging rewarded six intact lollipops in slightly maimed packaging that he placed on the floor. "No Lansdale ever comes unprepared!" The boy laughed for a second before offering them to the others. "I swear they're the best. Soo, how're you guys..." He smiled at the group, popping a broken piece of candy into his mouth. "Oh, 'nd wha're your names?" The candy slightly distorted his voice.

Dan's words just hit Marian, now. She stared down at her handful of Doritos and gulped. She was addicted. No use in stopping now. But holy butterbeer, those were amazing. She squinted at her right hand. Dan said her fingers would be covered in cheese, right? no harm eating cheese! She licked her fingers.

Maggie revealed the name of the movie, Hocus Pocus. It sounded like some lame muggle word that was trying to be a spell. When Maggie said that this was Marian's first movie, she corrected her, saying "Well, no. I've seen movies before. I think my first one was My Fair Lady. I don't really remember much else about the movie because I was too confused how it worked." Marian smiled, remembering the good time she had watching that movie.

She raised a chip to her mouth only for it to fall out when a boy landed on top of a bean bag nearby. Hastily putting the chip back in, Marian regained her composure. The boy introduced herself as Galton, whom she had never seen nor met. He pulled out a few lolipops and Marian eyed them warily. She would have taken them if it had not been for his entrance. "Hi, I'm Marian Lynch."
