I question if I’m an experienced writer, but I can give you a few thoughts. The way I roleplay Kaitlyn as shy, I like to include her thoughts with my responses. Otherwise, I’d say to include details of your surroundings (what is Agnes doing in the topic? Eating? Reading? Etc - and she could carry on those actions even when interacting with someone else). How does Agnes’s background impact how she responds to someone else? That could influence how you would write (Kaitlyn’s a muggleborn, less confident about magic, starting to be less shaky on a broom, polite, and keeps most of her comments to herself - hence the thoughts).

Trying to develop Aggie’s character and get myself used to writing, it’s very engaging so I’m actually really excited to be on this site, not to mention I’m meeting so many kind people

Just try your best. You don’t have to rush into it. Include a little each time. You’ve got this.

When I first started, I struggled to get 200 words in - your writing will improve and grow!

This might be more than what you're probably looking for, but here's my take

Coming from someone who's undertaking a degree in creative writing, one thing I've learnt is to embrace the idea "show, don't tell". As Simon said, envision what you want to say - Sensory images (touch, smell etc) are great for that! Don't be afraid to go metaphorical as well. I've found it's great to blend that with any inner thoughts or feelings a character has. It adds a slightly informal edge to writing, but that's how you know it's coming from your character's IC perspective

Another thing I will say is don't be abstract. Abstractions can sometimes confuse what you're trying to say, which is done (more often than I realised) by over-complicating your descriptions. So don't worry about simplistic vocabulary! I do have a few words and phrases that I repeat often in posts myself but I'd rather do that than complicate my readers with "fancier" words that I feel aren't appropriate for what I'm trying to say and thus, confuse or change my story

There's a lot more I could say, but I'll leave it there for now
