@Ginevra Tsuchiya

(It's fine!)

Teiki smiled, responding to each talking point before pausing to let the other Hufflepuff continue.
"That's good that you have a good family." She cringed slightly at the wording before continuing, "Elisa- that's a pretty name. I could see why you and your sister could be twins. It seems to be a special sort of telekinesis for those who are really close or twins." She laughed softly, before quieting down and listening to Ginevra.
It was surprising how out of focus everything went when you were really engaged in a story. While it might have been a short story, it was still quite interesting.
"That makes sense.." Teiki nodded, although it also would've made sense if one of them had done a middle name? Oh well, however the family wanted to do it... She looked down to see Ginevra writing something... Character, Ginevra told her. Teiki also noticed that she was doing it on paper.
"That's quite nice. Your name? Wow.. Also, this is a random side question... but I see you are using paper.. Do you prefer paper or scrolls. Quite honestly, I definetely prefer paper... It feels easier to use for me... It's all a matter of opinion, though." Teiki shrugged her shoulders and smiled.
"I don't really know of any of my family history.. It's a large family, although I know my mom met my father when she was on a trip to England. My father was born and raised in England, but didn't like it all that much. So they moved to France together... A little odd and cheesy, but that's the very simplified story.." Teiki smiled, looking back up at Ginevra.

"I prefer paper, too," Ginevra answered Teiki's question. "Well, no offence to the majority here of course, but I think paper is more... practical, don't you think so? Ballpoint pens are also more practical and easy to carry than feather pens and ink wells, in my opinion." After stating her opinion, Ginevra shot a quick glance to her surroundings, making sure that no one who accidentally heard it looked hurt.

Good; not only nobody looks hurt, everyone seems to be immersed in their own conversations. Not that her conversation with Teiki was that private of course, but wasn't it quite rude to eavesdrop on others?

Anyway, Teiki had started telling Ginevra about her family history, so the blonde decided that best thing to do was to listen to her new friend. She herself wanted others to listen when she talked to them, so why wouldn't it apply vice versa? Naturally it would! And honestly, Teiki's family history was interesting for Ginevra. The raven-haired first-year told her that her father was an English who later moved to France after meeting her mother; thus, Ginevra assumed that Teiki's mum was French. But it should not hurt to ask, should it?

"Hey Teiki, may I ask if your mum comes from France? And... so... were you raised there, too? How is it like?" Ginevra, who had never been to France her whole life, could not wait to hear about the country from this dorm mate of hers.

Teiki nodded, happy that someone shared her opinion. Well, someone who was a wizard that shared her opinion, to be more specific.
"Yeah, it'd be easier if we could use those instead of scrolls and ink wells."

Teiki noticed that Ginevra glanced around after she said that, so Teiki decided to follow suit. She saw no one that was really looking at them. Everyone had managed to start their own conversations or they were quietly eating food on their own. She glanced back at Ginevra, wondering what caused her to suddenly glance around. Was she worried about someone eavesdropping? Why? Teiki shrugged and let the question go. She listened to Ginevra ask a question about her family heritage. She smiled before responding.

"Well, she lived in the United States for her entire life, but yeah, she was French. Her parents had lived in France and decided to move to America before my mother was born. Yeah, I was raised in France. Haven't traveled much outside of France. Well, for me, it was nice. We lived in a more rural area of France towards the Southwest. It was quite hilly, but it always smelled nice because there were so many flowers grown for the perfume factories in the city of Grasse."

Teiki decided that since they had spent a decent amount of time on her family, it seemed fair to ask about Ginevra's family.
"Did you learn about all three of the cultures, or was their a culture you practiced more in your household?" Teiki asked, curious. Her household didn't have too much of a mix, so they were able to do equal representation of both, but she didn't know how it was for other families.

Ginevra listened to Teiki's description of her hometown, a rural area in the southwest of France. The black-haired girl said it was quite hilly, and that was enough make Ginevra believed that the town was a pretty one. Add a description of the nice smell from various flowers grown there, and now Ginevra could not wait to save enough money so that she could finally visit the town one day.

There was one thing Teiki had not mentioned, though, and it happened to be something the blonde was curious about: How is the weather like in France? Earlier, the raven-haired girl had said that her dad did not enjoy living in England very much and thus decided to move to his wife's home country; Ginevra wondered if it was because of the weather. Ginevra herself, who was raised in Hawaii before her family relocated to the United Kingdom, had always found the weather in England a bit too cloudy and too wet for her taste.

But since Teiki had asked her some questions, Ginevra decided to let go of her curiosity regarding the weather in France and answered them instead. "Believe it or not," smiled the blonde, "Japanese, Italian, and American - Hawaiian to be specific - cultures are actually not that different. All emphasised politeness, friendliness, and also orientation towards family. So... yeah... I can't really say which culture we practice more at home, because they're more similar than most people think."

She stopped for a while to think, and then continued, "But yes, I guess there are still some differences. I tend to be less indirect when communicating with the relatives from my father's side than with the relatives from my mother's side."

Teiki nodded in understanding. It made sense.
"Yeah, I understand. Most cultures have the golden rule as their priority. Treat others the way you want to be treated. It makes sense, though, and is the best way to provide the least amount of conflicts." Teiki shrugged at the random observation she had made and let Ginevra continue. When Ginevra finished she nodded in understanding. Teiki realized she had sub-consciously done the same thing with her family.
"Yeah, actually, I think my voice changes accents depending on who I'm with." Teiki laughed.
"Sometimes I'll get a slight English accent with my father's family. My mother got an American accent, not the country-like accent, but I think you might know what I mean. That's the one I use generally. But yeah, with my mother's family I'll get a French accent." Teiki laughed again, embarrassed.
"Sorry for the lengthy response. I don't think it actually needed to be that long." Teiki blushed, and looked down at the array of food that was before her. She glanced around a bit before grabbing a cookie, chocolate chip to be exact. She quickly ate it, pleased it somehow tasted like home despite the fact that they only bought store-bought cookies at home. So, these cookies were so much better. She glanced back at Ginevra.
"Sorry for my rudeness! Would you like a cookie?" Teiki asked, making a quick observation that the cookies were closer to her. She tried not to blush some more.

"Thank you," said Ginevra, gratefully taking a chocolate chip from the plate Teiki had just passed to her, "I love choco chips."

She stopped for a while to admire the plate from which she had just taken a chocolate chip. It was circle like most plates, wide, and as white as snow. Even though no picture was displayed on it, a golden line was painted around the top part of the plate as a kind of border. It was true that the design was very simple, but very elegant as well - at least for Ginevra.

After a moment, the girl turned her attention from the plate to the chocolate chip in her right hand. It was circle just like the plate, and unlike the chocolate chip she enjoyed to eat at home. But all the same, it was no less tasty. Then, she decided to share the information to Teiki.

"Back home, my grandparents like to buy us kids chocolate chip biscuits," she said. "Sometimes they buy circle choco chips like this, but my favourite is the ones shaped like teddy bears. They even have slightly different poses and facial expressions! I remember Grandma once asked me which one I liked best - Hungry Teddy, Happy Teddy, or Angry Teddy. They're all just so cute!"

"Bears? As cookies? No I've never heard of them. They sound fun, though. With different little facial features? That's adorable." Teiki smiled. For some reason, this gave her an idea.
"Do you know the Dancing Feet charm? I think it would be really cute if the little bears were dancing.." She blushed, hiding her face quickly. Why of all things do I decide that's a good idea? She calmed down, and turned back to Ginevra.
"Sorry, it's a silly idea." the girl said quickly. She paused for a moment, letting other topics or ideas come to her.
"How do you like the Hufflepuff Common Room? I find it to be quite cozy. It reminds me of home, if my home were neater." Teiki giggles, remembering the piles of books and papers that would just 'magically' appear. It had always been a feat whenever they were able to clean it up for holidays.
"Was your house clean? Ours rarely was. Oh, we put an effort in during the holidays, but there were simply too many random papers lying around." Teiki smiled, thinking of the purebloods who probably never had to deal with this. Teiki wouldn't have known, though, what their life was like. Maybe she needed to talk to one of them.

Hufflepuff? Not bad. Jack could totally see it.
Jack flashed confident smiles at all looking back at as he made the short treck to the Hufflepuff table. Excitement welled up in his chest. He was ready to get something to eat!

Quickly he scanned the long table, looking for an open seat. After a moment of hesitation, he finally found an open spot. With a heavy thud, he dropped himself onto the bench. The buzz of noises was overwhelming. Jack had to just stop to look around. So many people were laughing and smiling. The atmosphere of happiness was absolutely contagious!

Jack snapped out of his stupor when the scent of fresh food reached his nose. That's when he noticed to mounds of food that littered the table. "Oh, I don't think this day could get any better!" Reaching forward, Jack began to fill his plate will all sorts of delicious foods. Chicken breast, Mashed potatoes, and Turkey, oh my! The black-haired boy decided that making friends could wait for a couple of minutes, as he indulged his stomach. if he had it his way, Jack would have a killer belly ache the next morning. Luckily he had enough self-control to not completely gorge himself, and enough manners to pace himself in front of his new peers.

A Hufflepuff, that was what Aphrodite had been sorted as. No shock came over her honestly, it was something she had just expected. Her pleasant happy energetic aura, the way she always tried to be positive, what else could she be?

As she sat down, she smiled at the person across from her. She just couldn't help it, making others feel good is what she did. And she did it well.. Not to be that person but.. Aphrodite was totally that perky cheer leader type. She just had so much energy and didn't have a clue where to store it all.

Once she had made her plate, vegetables and salad neatly organized, she glanced upwards at the sight of a boy sitting beside her. Aphrodite grinned, noticing the excitement he had for his first meal. She watched him place a few things on his plate in front him, a normal styled Carnivore meal. Compared to Aphrodite's, where she had all Vegetarian foods.

"Oh, I don't this day could get any better!" The boy had said, stuffing his face with food. Aphrodite then nodded while placing a fork delicately in her mouth, chewing slowly. "Hogwarts really is something, huh?" She asked, wiping a bit of food off the side of her mouth with a napkin.

Jack had to pull himself from his plate. Quickly he wiped the crumbs from his mouth with a napkin. "It's more than something. I can't believe that my family never told me more about this place." He gave a large grin. The grin basically defined his personality, and it showed his overflowing confidence. Placing the napkin back on the table, he looked glanced down at the girl's plate. "You're eating rabbit food? Not much of a meat-eater?" Jack's question was a tad bit antagonistic, but he didn't really mean anything by it. He reached for another biscuit as he talked.

His hands were perpetually red, and his knuckles looked pretty well calloused. It was obvious that the boy was no stranger to a fight. His eyes were bright and happy, which contrasts greatly with his hands. Tearing the bread, he took another overly large bite. The food is wonderful! Nothing could beat his mother's shepherds pie, but the food here comes pretty close. The change in atmosphere from his families' bar to here was a total shift in everything. Size, patronage, food, not to mention the floating candles and Sky for a ceiling. Everything here is amazing
