Dear Gem Stuart,
Hi! How was your summer? I'm Nadea Fayid, a fifth year student from Ilvermorny.
Tell me about yourself if you'd like! I'll start! I'm fifteen, I was born in Jordan but moved to America when I was a few months old. I live in California and for the last few years have been staying in my aunts house. My parents are no-majs you see and staying with my aunt has been easier as she, with my cousins, are wizards and witches.
In Ilvermorny I'm in Horned Serpent, which I believe is similar to Hogwart's Ravenclaw. I wouldn't call myself a genius but I definitely know how to study effectively! It's a cool house I guess, I find a lot of my friends are from Wampus though. Overall, the history and reputation of Hogwarts makes me wish a bit I could attend it! You're lucky!
What hobbies do you have? I used to paint often but haven't in a year or so. I'm not one for nostalgia but it does give me a comfort to create art with the limited confines of no-maj ways.
I also enjoy broom racing, I'm pretty a pretty fast girl! I'm too much of a scaredy cat for quidditch though. I bruise like a tomato. Other than that, I might read a book or something, I mostly spend my summers working in my aunts camera store.
That's really all I can think, also don't want to hit you with an essay! Really excited to make a friend from Hogwarts!

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

Oh, that is an age difference. That's cool though, being a non-teenager is great. As soon as you add a "teen" to your age, everyone expects more. It's like one big leap to another maturity level.
Yep! We call them no-majs, although I actually call them no no-majjys now that I think of it. And in Arabic we call them something that sort of translates to "gifted elsewhere", it sort of breaks in translation though and doesn't get across the full meaning. I think that's just how my aunt refers to no-majs though, I never really met any other Arabic wizards/witches beside her and she tends to use weird terminology.
Oh, that's awesome! I wonder if they pair up similar houses to ensure people can withstand their penpals.
Yes, we don't have a hat, we have a special room. Our houses are represented by statues and the statues choose via their motion, the Horned-Serpent for example lights up it's gem while the Thunderbird beats its wings. I think how the two ceremonies differ however is that here we can get chosen for more than two houses. It's extremely rare but sometimes all four houses can choose a student! I myself was chosen for two houses, Horned-Serpent and Wampus.
My aunt was in Horned-Serpent so that helped me decide, it was all a bit frantic being my first day and all. As I said though a lot of my friends are from Wampus, which makes me wish I had chosen otherwise at times. But oh well, I'm sure the decision will have its purpose eventually!
Oh, that's pretty interesting. I've only read about Harry Potter, it all seems extremely scary. I really hope that nothing like that ever happens again. I'd like to think todays wizarding society has developed past such narrow thinking. And so many lost loved ones, oh gosh, it upsets me just to think about it.
Really? I'm the opposite, I hold onto some no-maj traditions but I really try to fit in with wizardry crowd as much as possible. That's funny though, we both grew up on either sides of the wizarding world and want to experience each others as much as possible. It makes sense in a silly way I suppose.
A typewriter? That's funny, my aunt has a magical typewriter! It just types a transcript of conversations, she uses it for like a fax machine for store orders. You may or may not know fax machines, I'm unsure the extent of your no-maj knowledge so it's hard to know where to start explaining in case you don't!
Oh, cool! Maybe you can show me your music when I'm at Hogwarts? You know there's a Masquerade Ball on between our two schools, I'll be coming to Hogwarts! I've only heard this from a Professor, I think it's well known news I just didn't see any posters or written notice for it.
Maybe you'll get tougher when you're a bit older! It's good to build up courage and strength, I was the same as you when I started here. I couldn't tolerate much and hate to say it but cried due to angry professors at times. Now heated arguments don't even phase me, it's not something they'll teach you in class but its good to learn when you're younger and there's less reputation to lose, if you get me.
