Almost a month had passed since Emily made the biggest U-turn of her life. With a graceful telling off to a cursed tree, of all things, she managed to overcome the worst wave of despair she had ever fallen upon in her life. At first she thought she was getting her hopes up and that it would all come down on her last minute, that it had all been for nothing... Curses like the one she had suffered with for that long were stubborn to overturn... But after a month of biding her time for something awful to hit her that never came, she was proud to say she was back to her self again. She felt she had stepped through a new door that day. What was an abyss of darkness instantly became light.

After nearly a month of stealing back sleep she had lost and her studies rising back to success in turn, she was taking her free time outside where the sun beamed down her back, kissing her brown locks, while she perched on her broom as she hovered around in low, lazy circles in a quiet spot on the grounds, the tail of her hair flowing behind her in a gentle breeze. The air had a soft chill about it, like that feeling of cracking open a window by a sliver for the first time. A balance of hot and cold permeated the ground and the air she flitted about in. She loved that kind of atmosphere. Much like how she was feeling now, the earth's temperature was in a blissful state of balance.

Tavra came out to join her, nestled comfortably on a branch nearby after practising her landings. She might have been an owl but Tavra was by and large a fluffy ball with tiny wings. Quite naturally, plopping onto the nearest surface was her style of landing, often accompanied by some kind of mess afterwards. Though proud to say, Emily's fluffy buddy was getting stronger little by little each day, her landings becoming smoother and less chaotic. Still, even with her nuttiness, Tavra was the cutest ball of fluff in the world, tied first with puffskeins. She preened herself while she rested on the branch metres away from her human friend.

Wand in hand, Emily had been dishing out soft spells and sparks while she soaked in the nice weather on her broom. Conjured butterflies occupied the space, weaving in between the branches and settling on the bushes when they weren't dancing in the air with Emily. The Huffie herself played about with conjured flowers at the tip of her wand, a whisper of Orchideous leaving her mouth every other minute in between small songs and humming, with sprouts and petals decorating her wand after every incantation. Rediscovered inner beauty deserved some outer beauty to go with it after all.

Her bag sat at the edge of the bottom of a tree. A mishmash of books, scribbles, letters and spare parchment made up the bulk of the belongings she took with her, the rest being food for the critters, Tavra and herself. A standout however was a small potted enchanted rose that bloomed healthily in its bed of soil. Shades of yellow and pink fought to dominate its petals. Multicoloured flowers were common but this rose in particular was in a league of its own. A colour transfiguring flower was a new conundrum for Emily... But she loved it! She had sent a thank you letter to Casey for the gift. She had been ensuring to keep it well looked after as she could since the day he sent it over to her.

The plaster on her finger was enough to cover the tiny cut she needed to make the effect of the rose work. For what it was worth, it was healing up nicely, as was the mark on her other finger she was able to kiss goodbye to.

She sniffed up a hearty inhale of the clean air. She was in the zone.

Her zone, really!

Minnie was a stereotypical Hufflepuff in a lot of ways. She loved plants, being kind to people, and helping out. Being a loyal person was a big deal to her. She had a very bubbly and fun look about her. All of this summed up a stereotypical Hufflepuff. And boy did she hate it. She wanted to show her family that she was different, and she could make trouble, be a memorable person, and make her family name forever known. Being the only Hufflepuff in a line of Slytherins was not easy, and it kept coming back to haunt her. Now that Jack had been sorted into Slytherin, there was even more pressure on her to be more than just a Hufflepuff. She needed to have an accomplishment, and she needed that fast.

The grounds were an excellent place to relax and unwind, and that was what she needed after a day filled with worries and pressures. Her brother was excelling in his studies, all the teachers loved him, and he still managed to cause a bit of mischief. He was the perfect Duke, just like her older sister, Lil. Being both a Hufflpuff, failure, and middle child meant that she felt the least loved. Perhaps she should just owl her parents, talk to them. It would be better than the current silence that was going on right now. Even though she made friends, her Slytherin siblings made way more, and she couldn't help but feel lonely sometimes.

Shaking off the jealous thoughts, she reached in her satchel and found her sketchpad. She loved to draw, and that could help calm her down. Now she just needed something to draw. A girl caught her eye as she surveyed the area. She looked so serene, practicing magic, making flowers and butterflies. She wished she could look that serene. But nonetheless, it was the perfect person to draw. So she grabbed a pencil and began to sketch the girl practicing her magic.

Minnie let her thoughts disappear as she drew, adsorbing herself in the drawing. Her worries were gone for a moment, the serenity and calmness of drawing taking over. As she glanced up for a final flourish, she wondered if she should talk to the girl. But in the end, she decided against it. No point in breaking the zone the girl was obviously in. For now, she would just be a silent observer, drawing and watching as she practiced her magic.

Kaitlyn giggled quietly. She lazily skipped toward the Herbology greenhouses. It was getting warmer outside, as the spring equinox already occurred. The Ostara celebration lasted for three days to commemorate the coming of Spring. It had just ended the other day. While she grew up with a different set of beliefs as a muggle-born, she greatly appreciated this celebration. She was in love with plants and found the greenhouse to be like a third home. Even if she wasn’t a believer, she could still thank the spirits for such a lovely and beautiful season!

Since it was nicer out, Kaitlyn was taking her time to head to the greenhouse. As much as she loved the plants there and wished to help to her heart’s content, she also loved the flowers and plants growing on the grounds! Plus, she loved how the plant and animal life seemed to explode at this time of the year! It was such a pleasant sight.

As she launched into a pirouette, a smile crossed Kaitlyn’s lips as she saw Emily … a girl she recognized from their encounter last year. She was … flying on her broom and conjured flowers and butterflies. It was a purely terrific and lovely sight. It was one the young Slytherin greatly appreciated. She knew very well that a love of Herbology was not a standard in her house, but that didn’t stop her from loving plants. It made her desire to love plants grow that much more.

If anyone could describe Kaitlyn in one word, quirky would likely be one of the first words mentioned. Frankly, she wouldn’t mind being called quirky. She liked being herself, even if no one else acted like her. Was she weird? Of course. But she wasn’t about to change herself to please anyone else. She was unique, and she liked it that way.

Deciding not to bother the Hufflepuff, Kaitlyn turned to head toward a tree. A little relaxation in nature was always helpful! A light flush bloomed on her cheeks as she saw Minnie drawing nearby. A smile formed on her lips again. She didn’t like to bother people when they were clearly busy with something and was very focused. She offered a shy wave to Minnie, before sitting under a tree, gently closing her eyes and breathing in the fresh scent of the coming spring.

Emily was never one to seek out attention. She was perfectly fine to blend into the background, especially if it meant spending more time with her earthy critter friends while everyone else passed her.

So it was equally a surprise as it was obvious that Emily drew a small crowd while she was hovering in the air with the butterflies and the flowers. She recognised Minnie instantly as a fellow Huffie and from the duelling team. Not long afterwards, a face from the past showed up to sit beside her. Kaitlyn. Emily had been seeing more of her over from time to time after months of silence, yet she hardly had the time to talk with her while she was dealing with that stuff from the last few weeks. Now that she was herself again, seeing her whilst in much better circumstances was a welcome surprise.

The two had sat together on the grass while Emily remained airborne in her own little world. Looking down, she could see the entertained faces on the two of them. She smiled back. At the risk of tooting her own horn, she was pleased to see the calm and relaxing faces of the two girls back on the ground as they watched the spectacle in front of them. She saw Minnie with a sketchbook while Kaitlyn got cosy under a tree.

Huh. If Emily had a working radio of some kind, some atmospheric music would've topped this off as a perfect escape space for everyone. She grinned as she made more flowers sprout from the tip of her wand, tossing a few to the onlookers below before she made more butterflies appear out of thin air, because one can never have enough butterflies.

Tavra chirped at the abundance of butterflies in the air, her big round eyes enamoured with the show before them all.

Emily continued to circle above the water, chuffed with the audience response of her little makeshift garden.
