False Friends
@Marla Quinlan
Sonatine made her way onto her first class. She was nervous about getting to her first ever class at a wizarding school. The thought made her shudder - what if she was so bad, they had to kick her out? After all, she didn't know anything at all, apart from what she had read. She knew she wasn't the only one who lived a muggle life, but she still felt anxious. Being kicked out meant she had to go back home. She didn't want to see her mothers' disappointed face. She made a mental note to go to the library the next morning to revise the notes from the lesson.
The corridor felt cold. She looked at the surroundings whilst clutching her books tightly to her chest. Wow, even the architecture in the corridors is cool. Sonatine shivered, as she hurriedly walked on. There were loads of other students swiftly making the way to the next lesson. As she was almost in front of the class she needed to be at, she saw a much taller girl begin to make her way towards her.
Who is she? The girl had flaming red hair that fanned out behind her. Her appearance was striking, like someone who had a big personality, or that of someone who was confident in their mannerisms.

False Friends
[quote]A school like Hogwarts was almost impossible to not get sidetracked in. Hell, calling it a castle was false advertising at this point. It was a goddamn maze. Between the seemingly endless, identical corridors, and moving stairs... Especially with the paintings taunting you or screaming if you bump into their frame. As a first-year, it was nothing short of terrifying for her first few months. The beautiful establishment had a mind of its own, and it was intimidating. However, with sneaking out religiously every week the year before, the rush of adrenaline putting chills down her spine every time, she could get almost anywhere with her eyes closed.
Holding a rather large, burgundy-colored book, the title almost completely wore off, she walked out of the library, smiling down at the abundance of pages. Marla had found it lost in the library and probably hadn't been checked out for centuries, in all honesty. Just like the students, it was easy for literature to be lost in the masses on the multiple shelves in schools. Of course, kids weren't stored on literal shelves... Unless? But in a blink of an eye, you could be about a million turns away in a corridor from your destination. One wrong turn, bam, throws another thirty minutes on your trip there.
As she turned to the next corridor, her eyes were immediately drawn to a taller girl's vibrant purple hair. She was pretty. Porcelain skin, perfect posture. If it weren't for the look in her dark brown eyes that shouted 'deer in the headlights', then Marla would have assumed it was a much older student. Walking over to see if she was alright, after all, she was a prefect, the Gryffindor took notice of the yellow crest on her robes, which explained everything. She knew a Hufflepuff with the same lost look in her eyes, except she was Marla's age. Airlia Winter. Who knows where that girl is? She was... Quite naive. Poor thing.
With a small smile, she walked over to the seemingly lost Hufflepuff and looked up at her. "Ay, are ye lost? Or.. Need any help? Quite honestly, ye look like a scared puppy or somethin'. If yeh're out ah class for ah while, I can tell ye' where yeh can go and wot teh do if ye bored," She exclaimed in her mess of an accent, shrugging nonchalantly. Switching between England and Scotland her whole life... The voice aspect became a bit messy. It kind of sounded like she was having an identity crisis, between the drastic switches in tone as she spoke each word. Some sounding English, and some sounding like she was a Scot through and through. "Oh, I'm Marla Quinlan," She introduced. Hopefully, she wasn't a third year, that would be extremely awkward. And she would probably be murdered.

@Marla Quinlan
Sonatine almost jumped out of her skin when the girl turned to talk to her.
"Ay, are ye lost? Or.. Need any help? Quite honestly, ye look like a scared puppy or somethin'. If yeh're out ah class for ah while, I can tell ye' where yeh can go and wot teh do if ye bored." Sonatine tilted her head in confusion. Although she had lived in England for a while now, she still wasn't completely used to the variety of accents at Hogwarts. It took her a couple of seconds to understand what the red-haired girl was saying, and until after an awkward pause replied:
"Oh..uh, yeah, I'm out of class." She mentally facepalmed at what she said. What? You are literally on the way to History of Magic... Sonatine didn't understand what made her lie; maybe it was the fact that someone older was speaking to her, or the fact that History was her least favourite subject, or even perhaps a mixture of both. She felt as if the brand new volume of Hogwarts, A History in her arms was looking at her in betrayal, despite it being a very inanimate object. Surely skipping one class won't be so bad? "I'm..uh-Sonatine. Sonatine Webbs."
Sonatine hadn't been able to explore the seemingly crazy place that Hogwarts was. She was so busy trying to find her way around and attending classes for the first few days that she hadn't got the chance to really have some fun exploring the school. Instead of keeping herself wrapped up in academics, she needed to actually take a proper look around the school she'd be attending for the next several years.
"I am kind of bored right now...where are the best places to go? And at what time?" She couldn't believe the way she lied so smoothly, especially to what looked like an older year. She felt a bit ashamed, but she was definitely in too deep to say anything by this point. "I don't exactly want to be too late out," she said truthfully. She wasn't sure of the sanction system at all. Perhaps she'd lose a couple housepoints? That didn't seem too bad. She pushed back her violet hair back with newfound confidence.
