ReducioKaitlyn gulped a large breath of fresh air as she headed for the outdoor club area near the broom racing tracks. A school broom was clutched in her gloved hands. It was still pretty cool in the early morning hours, but she never minded that fact, as she enjoyed walking around the Hogwarts grounds in the early morning. Her movements were a little shaky as she stepped into the club area. Her relationship with flying was … kind of mixed. She hadn’t experienced a fall yet … and, frankly, didn’t want to experience a fall at all. It was one of her greatest fears when it came to flying … which was exactly why she never tried it much.
Last year, Kaitlyn learned to fly … somewhat. At least enough to get in the air and fly around a little, and thankfully, she never fell at that point. The young Slytherin, however, wanted to learn more than just flying at low altitudes. Was she scared? Yes. Would her fear stop her from trying? She certainly hoped not! Plus, there was always a consistent factor in Kaitlyn’s life: she enjoyed challenges. Flying was a challenge, both physically and mentally, in her case. As such, she wanted to try her best to overcome it.
Mounting the broom, Kaitlyn kicked off from the earth and soared into the sky. It was not in a straight line at all, and it was kind of shaky. But still in the air, which was always good. She felt the wind flip her pigtail braids around, and she giggled lightly. She enjoyed the feeling of the air in her hair. Focusing on the task at hand, she made a quick lap around the area.
Taking a deep breath in to steady her nerves, Kaitlyn shot forward, attempting to practice a roll. The broom shook a little … no longer flying in a straight line, and she was moving dangerously close to the ground just as she was starting to roll in the air.Word Count:

Encountering @Kaitlyn Connor in the skies
As he walked from the castle towards the Outdoor Club Area, he looked up to see a small flittering creature to his right and he smiled. Simon knew that flutter. He knew that hover. He didn't even have to look over to realize it was Perseus, his owl. "Perceptive as always, Percy," he said and walked a little faster in an attempt to match his owl's speed and they could remain side-by-side with his stride. "You seem to always know when to find me for our flying practices."
OUR flying practices.
If Percy had been a dog, he would have been one of those agility dogs - where the handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. That is what Percy the owl enjoyed - not running but flying. Simon found out that it seemed his owl enjoyed best when he set up small obstacles for him - maybe levitating a hoop in the air, tossing some Sparks charms into the air, having him go around a tree, through small clearings of vines, and the like. He liked bobbing up and down with the wind, racing to the right, leaning to the left. Simon understood this love of being one with the wind as he was a broom racer.
If Percy were a wizard, he'd be a broom racer.
Once at their destination, Simon set down his enchanted satchel and propped his broom against the trunk of a tree. He gathered out this and that to create a sort of course for the owl, who watched as it took up temporary residence on a tree branch. Simon extended out his wand, finishing the course for his young feathered friend. "There you go, Perce. Enjoy. I'm going to go take in some practice myself," and he left his satchel there by the tree and mounted his broom before lifting up.
It was then that his quick dhampir reflexes noticed the other occupying the space around them, a girl who was entering into roll and quite close to the ground. He wasn't the greatest mathematician but Simon was pretty sure that if she continued at that rate and angle that she would be going broomstick first into the ground. He took off towards her in maybe the quickest start he had even taken.
"Woah, there," he said as his broom caught up with hers and he reached out, taking hold of her broom and angling it upward. This would disrupt her roll and maybe cause her to be unsteady, but she could hopefully compensate. - And if perchance she could not, he could be there to steady her or catch a fall.
Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)

ReducioKaitlyn tried to pull up to lift her flight further from the ground. But, her movement was shaky and not at all agile. She closed her eyes, not wanting to watch when she crashed into the ground … it was one of her worst fears, after all! Yes, she was improving, but she was not there yet. At least, not where she could be confident in her abilities.
The seconds ticked up, and no crash. Just as she opened her eyes, Kaitlyn heard a boy’s voice, followed by her broom being angled differently. “Woah!” She shouted, flying off course … but at least away from the ground. Yet, she was now entirely off course and felt unsteady. She quickly shook her head, trying to comprehend what had just happened. With slow movements, she was able to correct her flying.
Turning around, she flew back toward the boy. Kaitlyn’s flying was still shaky, but it was slowly normalizing after her terrible roll. “Hi,” she greeted him with a shy but grateful smile. “Thank you for the help,” she continued, hovering on the spot. “Sorry for the scare … I didn’t complete that move correctly.” She admitted, her fingers played with the broomshaft. The few times she practiced, she liked doing so alone. That way, if she fell, she didn’t hurt anyone else. She assumed she didn’t hurt the boy, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t a clumsy mess, either.Word Count:
