My dear Irene
July 30, 2019
A very tall and, quite frankly, imposing individual walked into the Magical Menagerie. Above anything else their dark auburn red hair and freckle covered face making them stand out even more so in the currently sparsely populated pet shop. Why yes it was none other then the resident young blood Quinn Healy. Looking rather jovial for a change, which as of late would have made the sight rather curious.
Seconds later his mood, and expressions were answered when a woman appearing nearly two feet shorter then the lad, who looked more like an adult, walked in casually behind him. Fiery orange hair thicker then a lion's mane draped down to her just above her butt. She wore a beautiful pleated floral crepe maxi dress with brown flat gladiator sandals. The sleeves rolled up to just below the elbow, maybe half an inch. It revealed more of her pale, lightly freckled smooth skin. Her striking bright green eyes that only added to her ethereal like beauty. She emanated a regal type of beauty.
A stark contrast to the rough looking individual next to her. "Alright Quinn go take a look around. Try naht to anyone senseless dis time you 'ere?" The woman's accent was thick, but not impossible to understand. She spoke with a grace, becoming of her beauty and obvious intelligence. "Dahn't wahrry mahm. I prahmise...mahstly" Quinn smirked at his mother mostly joking with her. She always had a way of lightening his mood despite recent events over the years.
Quinn then carefully started to wonder around the pet shop at first being drawn in by the owls. His mother following closely but not too close mostly observing him. It was around that time he started looking when an elderly woman slightly shorter then his mom, and wearing a floral patterned dress that looked lovely on her approached him. She was very well kept and Quinn felt even calmer around her for some reason. He wasn't really sure why?
"Well aren't you a big child dearie? Are you having trouble finding what you need?" The woman kindly asked Quinn, and considering it was only Quinn, his mother, and the man up front manning the register. Quinn deduced that this must be the other owner of the pet shop. His thoughts were interrupted by a quick jab to the side from his mother who glared fiercely at him. "O-Ow! S-Sahrry ma'am it's nice to meet you. Yes i am 'avin a bet o' trooehble. I know I ahnly joehst started lookin boeht I dahn't really know what I want? " The last bit made it sound more like a question then a statement.
To the dismay of his sighing mother, Shannon could only let her poor son continue. Live and learn were her guiding principles something she stubbornly stuck to even in this instance. But luckily for her the elder owner Anita Witticker introduced herself to him even laughing at the funny little exchange before asking her son to follow him. Quinn now followed the woman away from the owls closer to the back of the shop. Passing by various animals some of them toads, others Pygmy puffs. 'Strange lettle dings.' He thought to himself.
Anita stopped in front of one pen It contained possibly the most beautiful cat Quinn had ever laid his eyes upon. He rather quickly looked at the sheet of paper tacked to the front of the pen.

The gorgeous feline had a slender, long athletic body with striking black patterned stripes and dots all over its body. A majority of its fur a beautiful silver that fades into white under its chin and belly. The black patterns dominating a majority of its silver colored tail. Most striking of all was the feline's eyes. One was a gooseberry green while the other was strangely gold. Quinn was taken aback by the beauty of the cat and acting on impulse he picked up the feline who simply stared back at him curiously. She was as different and unique as him. It nearly brought a tear to his eye.
Most unexpectedly as soon as he picked her up with his large hands the feline, wormed its way out of his hands and climbed onto his shoulders instead. Purring and wrapping her body around his large shoulders causing the red head to lurch his head forward as she awkwardly half lay around his neck perched on his shoulder. This caused Quinn and everyone present in the store to laugh. Her fur was so soft against his skin, and her purring was like calming music to him, it was connection at first sight. Apparently Mrs. Witticker had a keen eye for these things. As she figured out Quinn's ideal pet on her first try. It was truly impressive.
"I'll definitely take 'er. Boeht 'er name isn't Selver. No, she deserves a mahre fettin name like...like yes! Irene. yooehr name is now irene!" The young lad declared to the dismay of the sleeping animals, and Irene who was spooked on his shoulder by him and hissed in protest. Causing his mother to laugh yet again at her son's antics.
"That's a beautiful name for an equally unique feline dearie." As promised his mother paid, and the necessary items were handed in a bag to Quinn. Irene already looking quite comfy on his shoulder. Though now she was sitting on it, her tail swaying in the back, and her cheek rubbed up against his head. Her purring even louder then earlier. Her wait was nothing to the strong Irish lad. "Thank you again for everything Mrs. Witticker!" He exclaimed a bit softer absolutely happy. "Oh anytime dearie, you three take care now." She waved goodbye to the three along with her husband.
