BACKDATED: School Year of 2018-2019
@Dinara Lucey
The aftermath of a rainy day in the grounds, the soil is fragile and muddy, the grass is dewy. The rain has left behind a petrichor smell, the same kind of when rain touches down after long days of dryness.

The rain had come and went, while most preferred to not get wet, some preferred to run out and play. Reid of course had a test coming up and so getting sick wasn't an option, but there was more fun to be had when the rain stopped. Naturally, Reid impatiently had waited for it to go away till he darted straight for the grounds, trying not to slip on the cobbled path of the school.

Upon getting there, the first thing he did was try to slide down the muddy slope with his shoes. His classes had finished and he was free to wear his casual clothing, so Reid stood ready, armed with a shirt, shorts, and running shoes. His bag sat on the dewy ground, with it was a zip up hoodie and on top of that was his lovely toad, Scully. The muddy conditions perhaps seemed like an issue, but to him it was an opportunity to see how far he could slide without toppling over.

A few minutes passed and he was already covered in enough mud to make any parent faint from the dirt he'd bring in. The Hufflepuff hooted and hollered in his secluded spot of the Grounds, simultaneously getting questioning glances by the students who passed as to why anyone would want to get covered in mud and grass stains. He would stab a stick into the ground with every distance he was able to go off of.

Of course he cut himself once or twice, but what was enjoyment without a little injury? Back in Derby, he used to run out into the rain all the time, he loved the water and the way it allowed him to skid along the pavement. His bike of course lost tread and his friends always ended up with scraped knees like he did, but in the end, they just had a good time with a rain and pretending in their heads of how epic they looked in it.

"Damn!" He had just slipped and fallen, his record stood unbeaten, but the boy rolled over and got up to go try again.

Rainy weather always seemed to bring about a touch of gloom, which often put a damper on the high-spirited girl's mood. Although the silver lining amongst these rainy clouds would be the absolute delights known as mudpools that Dinara often found herself indulging in, much to the distaste of her dorm mates and family members back home.

On this particular day, she'd found the weather too depressing to stay in and study to. Opting to instead take a walk in the rain, Dinara didn't bother so much with the practicalities as much as another more well-prepared student would have -- she simply walked herself into the mercies of nature without sparing a thought for her clothing or even overall state of appearance at all.

By the time the rain had faded, Dinara was completely drenched. Someone would likely have mistook her for a wet chicken ready to be thrown into a pot if not for the little Prefect badge that gleamed brightly on her dripping robes. Still, the girl didn't mind it at all -- she weaved in and out between the numerous trees, playing a game of imaginary tag with her make believe centaur friends.

Though her behaviour was far from normal, it seemed as though the students around her were instead focused on another student. A twinge of annoyance spiked through the girl at the thought of someone else potentially being cooler than she was, and she impatiently marched over to find out just who exactly was stealing her thunder.

In that instance, Dinara was momentarily blinded by a flash of light. She sprang backwards with a loud yelp, only to realise that the 'light' was actually a light glinting off the badge that flopped helplessly against the boy that was doing some sort of... thing down the slopes. Almost like some twig ritual, Dinara would think.

Still, she supposed, whatever sort of ritual he was doing seemed to be working as he was very obviously attracting the attention of whoever happened to pass by the secluded Grounds. Furrowing her brows in intense focus, the girl clambered up to hill and attempted to mimic the boy's actions.

It somewhat worked, though her utter lack of experience in mud-slope sliding was quite obvious from the way that the girl tumbled down the hill. Some of the students who had momentarily stopped in their tracks to watch the duo chuckled lightly, before deciding that watching two students tumble down a hill wasn't really worth their time at all. Still, that didn't deter the stubborn lass who continued to run back up to the steepest part of the slope before attempting to stick more sticks than the other fellow Hufflepuff prefect.

The girl had a absolutely horrendous memory, though the face of the boy seemed quite familliar. She was sure she had at least talked to him at some point or another, though she couldn't recall the exact details of their conversation at the point in time. Still, the drenched Hufflepuff now looked more like a marinated chicken than anything, dripping in mud and dirt as she continued to subtly challenge her (self-declared) competitor.

A challenge? Well, Reid didn't see it at first, but he didn't really notice it, she looked like she was just joining him until she seemed rather determined. Smugness wasn't a look he often had, but he wore it as best as he could - especially in this moment. He thought she looked familiar, but he really couldn't figure out who she was since she looked like she was caked in a layer of dirt and sod as he was.

"Here to break my record? Hasn't been done yet!" he haughtily shouted, climbing up the hill again. Reid nearly slipped down again, laughing a little at almost falling backwards in his effort. "It's a lot easier if you try to not let your knee buckle in honestly." He came up to the top and waited for her, hands on his hips as he glanced around, not even realizing people were there in the first place.

It's a good thing they left, he shook his head like a madman, sending bits and pieces of mud all around. For the most part, it didn't really help since most of it was way too viscous to really knock off. His hair matted in clumps as he tried to think of a way to make this even better. "How's this sound to you? If you beat my record, I'll buy you candy from Honeydukes. If you don't, no candy or pastries."

Depending on where she was, he could've shouted it, but he wanted to propose it to her anyway. Granted, he didn't think he really knew her, but he liked making things more interesting for the sake of some dewy day fun. The Hufflepuff stuck a hand out to shake her own with, covered in mud and dirt. "The name's Reid by the way." he briefly introduced. Maybe she'll agree and he could make a friend of whoever this person was yet, he really couldn't make them out behind the muck.

The childish provocation seemed akin to a battle-cry in Dinara's less than developed brain, causing the girl to let out a weird sound that one could only describe as a mixture between a squeal and a snarl. Scrambling back up the hill in an effort to catch up with the male, Dinara dug the sole of her feet firmly into the ground, struggling to stay upright to have some form of a proper conversation wit the boy.

His advice barely registered in her brain, as all good advice does with Dinara Lucey. Instead, she chose to direct her attention in a futile effort to stare her opponent down, despite her being significantly shorter than the male. Dinara's intimidation efforts hardly worked out in her favour, and it would seem that the girl would've had learned her lesson by now. It seemed that she never quite did learn her lesson, though by some odd twist of fate Dinara often ended forming rather close-knit friendships with the very people she had tried to intimidate at first sight.

In her little world, her intimidation tactic seemed to have worked given that the male had offered some sort of a bargain that was completely in her favour. Nothing much for her to lose, not on her end, anyway. Smirking, she clasped her hand against his, likely leaving the poor boy feeling rather awkward given that he was trying to go for a handshake. Dinara, instead, seemed to think that trying to do some form of a 'cool' high-five would be fun, though that ended up with even more mud flying off their hands.

"Deal. I'm Dinara Lucey, Year 1 Hufflepuff Prefect." The emphasis on the last word wouldn't have been missed by the densest of idiots, coupled with Dinara's showy act of sticking her chest out, the little polished badge glinting merrily in the sunlight. It was at that instant -- almost as if the sunray that reflected off her badge sparked an idea in her brain -- that Dinara had an ingenious idea.

If sliding had something to do with body weight, wouldn't it work if Dinara somehow made use of their combined weight to propel herself even further?

As always, without giving much thought to the plan (if it could even be coined as one), Dinara dived headfirst into Reid, tackling him down the hill with her. They rolled, as a person sure would when being tackled off a hill, even if it was by someone that was closer in size to a Goblin than a human. Squeezing her eyes shut, Dinara waited till that the rolling started to slow before leaping over Reid, landing a few inches in front of him.

"HAH! Look at me, I did it!" She pumped her fist in the air, yelling triumphantly before gagging and falling to the ground, the mud inevitably finding it's way into her mouth as well.
