David was waiting for his name to be called to be sorted into his house. He was anxious as to what house he was going to be in. He had all the personality and traits of each of the four houses. He was listening as other first-year students were getting sorted into the four houses. As he was listening to the first-year students getting sorted, he was looking around as the scenery of the Great Hall was amazing.

"YOUNG, DAVID!"

David heard his name being called. He was nervous as he didn't know what house he would be sorted into. He slowly walked over to the sorting hat and sat down on the stool at the front of the Great Hall. The sorting hat was placed onto David's head.

"Hmmm... Fascinating... A wonderful all-around student. Really brave, not willing to stop until everything is done. Very resourceful. Very friendly and nice. Also very helpful and smart. Likes to work hard to get the job done. This is a tough one to sort. But I do have to say. You work very hard to to get everything done while being able to help other people. But where will I put you... Oh I got it. Better be...." The sorting hat said. "RAVENCLAW!!!"

David heard the house that he was going to be sorted to. He was happy about the choice that the sorting hat chose for him. He looked at the Ravenclaw table as the students from Ravenclaw were happy and excited for David to join the Ravenclaw house and the Ravenclaw family. The sorting hat as taken off from his head. David went over to the Ravenclaw table and listened to more first-year students being sorted into their respective houses.

Kya had just arrived at the great hall along with the rest of the first years and she can't deny that she was more than nervous.

What if the sorting hat doesn't know what to do with me? What if I have to sit up there forever like a fool? Even worse, what if it just decides to send me home?

She watched all of the kids go up onto the spool and have the sorting hat placed on top of them. It took a couple minutes, then called out what house they would be in. They finally got to the J's and Kay was even more nervous then she was before. She had never been so nervous in her life.

What if I don't get Gryffindor like my mother? Will she be ashamed of me? Will she let me come home for Christmas?

Of course Kya knew that her mother would let her come home for Christmas but she couldn't help thinking it. Her name was called much to long before she was ready.

Johnson, Kya

Kyat stumbled slowly up to the stool. She picked up the sorting hat and sat down. She could feel hundreds of eyes staring at her. She slowly placed the sorting hat on her head, not ready to find out what hose she would be with for the next seven years.

As soon as she put the hat on she heard the hat's voice.

Ah, half-blood. Got your magic from your mother Eh?

Kyat just stared up at the hat wondering if she should reply or not.

Hmmm, not much of a talker. Definitely could be a wonderful Hufflepuff. So your mother was a Gryffindor? I assume you want to follow in her footsteps, don't you.

Yes? Kya said tentatively.

Hmm. Definitely a good bit of Gryffindor. But I also see that your are very intelligent. What with having to hide your magic from your father for six years. Yes, definitely could also be a great Ravenclaw.

This conversation felt like it was going on for hours. She was nervous about how she looked to the rest of the students.

Yes, I think I have reached a decision.

Kya wiggled nervously waiting to hear what house she would be in.

RAVENCLAW!

Kya was at a loss for words. She had not gotten Gryffindor like she wanted but at least she didn't get Slytherin.

William was mesmerized. The great Hall was truly magnificent. Mumurs of enchanted ceilings and floating candles wedged themselves trough his ears. The first years were then led between four tables almost as long as the room itself. Each was decorated with their own set of colors. Red and gold, yellow and black, blue and bronze and finally green and silver. Each had students peering curiously at the newly arrived.

The young boy walked across the room, holding himself, not intimidated a bit by the hundreds of eyes trained on him and his comrades. They stopped just before another long table behind wich adults all ages were seated. The tall man that had welcome them in was soon in front explaining the sorting. A worn out hat chimed half trough much to William surprise. Hats didn't talk, at least not in the muggle world. From then on, he would have to get use to strange things happening. He was a wizard after all.

William listened closely to the whole speech and the song taking notes of every possible details. From wich house he would most likely get sorted into to the names of each of the heads of houses. Then the Sorting finally started.

Not much later, a loud, botchered "William Dubois" resonated trough the Hall. He casually climbed the few steps, breathing deeply to keep his face neutral. Sitting on the stool, hat dropped just in front of his eyes, he heard the same voice from the song. It told him what we're his qualities and what would make one house or the other best for him. Finally, not in his head, it shouted loud and clear his house for the next seven years.

-SLYTHERIN

Small smirk playing on his lips, he lifted off the Sorting hat, giving it to the headmaster before sauntering to the green and silver table.

This was the day. The day where Aurel would be sorted into his house. Aurel could barely contain his excitement. He knew he exactly what house he wanted, Hufflepuff! He just wanted to be near the kitchen and if he wasn't Hufflepuff then they might as well just label him one. He snickered to himself at the thought. He followed all the other students into the Great Hall. He stood and looked around in awe at the rest of the Hogwarts students. "Wow! There's so many people!" Aurel could feel his mouth water upon seeing the feasts laid out on each of the long tables. His stomach growled. "We're almost there to food, tum. You can hang out a little longer."

One by one the new year students were called up and sorted. Slowly the herd of students by him began to dwindle. As each student was being called, Aurel grew more and more anxious. What if I get into a house and I don't make any friends? What if the people there don't like birds? Or worse.. they don't like pretzels! He let out a hearty laugh. He felt others staring at him. Why are they staring..? OH! Someone just got Gryffindor... OH! His face drained a small portion of white as he realized the unfortunate timing he had. He forced a cough to try and cover himself.

"Aurel Silvius!"

Aurel perked up at his name. He quickly hurried up the steps. At the last step, he stumbled yet stuck the landing. He could hear some snickers from behind him. He'd always been a little impatient with new things; he had to giggle at himself for tripping on his own two feet. He sat down on the stool with the Sorting Hat placed over his head. Aurel couldn't help himself smiling. This was finally it; he had just a few minutes left before his house was called.

"Ahhh... I see. Silvius... that's a unique name. You have Slytherin in your blood. That ambition and drive are found throughout your soul yet your sense of knowledge is what makes you a great student. However, you have a great affinity for animals. Maybe Slytherin doesn't fit you." Aurel grew confused. Slytherin? My family was Slytherin? That doesn't make any sense. I just of mom being a Hufflepuff. "I can see you're confused. Hmm.. let's dig deeper. You crave to know about things yet once you set your mind to one topic, that's all anyone is going to come about. You care about others and are brave to stand up for them. There is one house that you have the best qualities from. This house is clearly close to your heart..." The hat seemed to take a pause, waiting for Aurel to answer. "Please Hufflepuff." he whispered to the hat.

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Aurel jumped off the stool with a huge grin. He puffed out his chest a little and walked on over to the Hufflepuff table. Aurel introduced himself to a few of the other students. As soon as he sat down, his stomach growled out loud. The other Hufflepuffs and himself started to laugh. He still wondered where Slytherin came from but regardless he was happy to be a Hufflepuff.

Adlai marveled at the Great Hall.
It had exceeded all her wildest dream and expectations, just as the express to Hogwarts had. Tears of joy began to well up but she blinked them back not wanted to ruin the little makeup her mother had applied for her first day.
She listened anxiously to Headmaster Solomon Lear’s speech begging Allah for her name to be called first, to shoot down the butterflies in her stomach. To her dismay the list went by last name just as it had in her muggle schools.
Adlai took these moments to listen and watch as others went before her, all equally as nervous as she. The Sorting Hat would describe the person who’s head it sat upon before roaring their house aloud for all to hear, applause and cheers following afterward.
Once what felt like an eternity had passed she heard her name. “Rod!”
Her beamed with elation and perturbation as she swiftly tucked away an stray hairs into her hijab and weaved her way through the line of students in front of her. She gave the Headmaster a polite nod before sitting upon the stool and having the Sorting Hat placed upon her head.
“Yes, plenty of majesty... perhaps nobility. An fervor to learn but naive.” The Sorting Hat said causing a cold shudder to run down Adlai’s spine. The Sorting Hat went silent before roaring her house as he did the rest. “HUFFLEPUFF!”

Evangeline shook nervously as she stepped into the great hall. She gasped at the beautiful sight of the decorations and the tables filled with students. Evangeline started to get wary in knowing she would have to sit in front of all these kids and perform some sort of test. She took a deep breath and waited for her name to be called. Finally she heard a booming voice ring out saying “Elizabeth Smith!” Evangeline looked around at whoever this was supposed to be, but then remembered that her fake name was Elizabeth which was the one used to protect her identity in the muggle world since she can’t control her magical abilities. Red faced Evangeline made he way up to the stool less nervous since she knew that the test would be a hat deciding. As the hat was placed on top of her head she heard a voice and jumped. She thought it was her own but it didn’t sound like her own. She then realized that it was the hat. Her eyes widened in astonishment as she felt her shoulders tense. She then heard the hat start speaking saying “well what do we have hear, oh hard one. You have a kind and loyal heart yes indeed but not to shabby in the brain either. A tiny bit of a thirst to prove yourself but the courage and bravery you have is outstanding. Let’s see, we’ll put you in.........GRYFFINDOR!” Evangeline was startled by the sudden loudness and flinched. But she smiled as she saw the welcome of cheers at her fellow table as she walked to her seat smiling happily.

Asher had been waiting years for this day. Finally, he could begin his true education and learn how to cast the spells he had grown up seeing others preform. From the brief glance he spared the other first-years he could tell that wonder was a common feeling among them. Even with his fellow pure-bloods, he could tell he wasn't the only one thinking stories didn't do the castle justice.

The young wizard kept to the back of the crowd of students. He didn't want to be jostled around and preferred the space being in back would allow him. Not to mention less attention would be drawn to him so far away from the front. While most of his classmates were being sorted Asher let his attention wander around the Great Hall. The magic on display there was magnificent and he couldn't help but wonder at the charms work it would take to re-create. He wouldn't mind a starry sky in his study back home.

It wasn't until Headmaster Lear had gotten to the P's that Asher's attention turned to the man. He couldn't help the admiration he felt, the Headmaster commanded such a strong presence and must have been quite powerful to become the Headmaster of Hogwarts. His armor reminded Asher of the warlocks of old, and the warriors he had grown up reading about.

Soon enough his own name was called and Asher walked to the stool with his head held high, hands kept inside his robe to hide their trembling.

"Just when I was wondering if I'd ever sort a Ravencroft again," the Hat's disembodied voice rang through his head, clear as his own, "And your mother a Cromwell, now that is interesting. I can see the conflict mirrored in you."

"I'm not conflicted," Asher thought at the Hat.

"I'm never wrong, young Ravencroft, but I suppose it is just like you to fight me. You fancy yourself a warrior, chivalrous and valiant. A strong heart and a code of honor. A Ravencroft indeed. You'd do well in Gryffindor I think. You are loyal and cunning, yes, but you would not bend your ideals for either of those things... but what have we here? A thirst for knowledge, perhaps powerful enough to compromise your code? Maybe... yes, I see it now. The imagination behind it, the desire to learn. To know. I know your place, but be careful not to allow your curiosity to be your undoing."

Before Asher could ask the Hat to elaborate, to tell him what it was he saw, it was already shouting.

"Ravenclaw!"

Before he knew it the Hat was off of his head, and for all he wanted to demand the Hat to continue he knew it was beyond his power. He could not know now, or at least that avenue to knowing was closed. There would be other ways, though, and he would find them. For now he was content to join his cheering new housemates, no matter how nervous that thought made him.

Hailey gazed up at the candles that bobbed above her. She was growing use to seeing strange phenomenons like this, especially after visiting Diagon Alley. It felt like she was walking through a fantastical movie where any moment now she's be brought back into reality. Only it was reality.

She couldn't but stare at everything. There was just so much magic in the air. The most spectacular bit was the ceiling: it reflected the night sky so perfectly that for a moment she thought there was no ceiling, only to be corrected when she questioned someone. She wondered if she'd be able to cast such extraordinary illusions.

Everyone in the Great Hall was wearing robes. The only difference was that the first years bore no designated color, since they hadn't yet been sorted. They had journeyed through the castle on a sort of tour before making their way to Sorting Ceremony. She still had many unanswered questions, of course, but the main mystery was how come the castle seemed way bigger on the inside than the outside.

From what she could understand the Sorting Ceremony was used to seperate the students into four Houses. Each held certain values higher than the others one, like courage and wisdom. The Houses were Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. They were named after the founders of the school, all great friends who had a common goal: to create a prestige and safe academy for wizards and witches of all different shapes and sizes, regardless of their background.

And she was glad for that last part.

Her group was mostly silent as they made their way down the middle of the tables. Each table catered to a different House, showing their colors and mascots. The red table caught her eye the most. Everyone spoke about the Gryffindors, how the greatest of witches and wizards came from there. Hailey was only just learning about her true nature and she already wanted to be the best of her kind.

They came to a stop where the long tables ended. Before them was the Sorting Hat, which lay upon a stool. Hailey wasn't prepared for when it began to speak, chanting in a shrilly voice it's traditionally song.

Though some parts were different Hailey remembered the lyrics from what she read in her textbook Hogwarts, A History. She listened intently, especially the parts which talked about the Houses.

Hailey wasn't sure which House she'd like to be in as of yet. She liked all of them. She felt that being in Ravenclaw would be the best, since she was so new to magic. The erudites of that House most likely wouldn't hesitate to aid her when she needed help on certain subjects, though she planned on studying as much as she could to catch up with what the others new.

Her adventurous side wished for Gryffindor, where she felt like she could unleash her wild side. Though school was mainly for learning, she knew that those fun moments were best enjoyed with people who she could easily relax with, those who weren't afraid to do the most daunting of things.

She observed the first-years who were being sorted. She realized that most of the wealthy and prideful students seemed to get into Slytherin. That group looked a little shady, but that was probably because she'd heard some foul stuff about them. Most of the cheery kids got into Hufflepuff. She hoped that it wouldn't be stereotypical. she felt like she'd be put into Hufflepuff because she was poor and a muggle-born, the outcast of the outcasts.

“Hinkle, Hailey.”

She dashed forward, tripping over her robes which hung loosely on her thin frame. She slowed to a walk after hearing the cluck of tongue and sat down. The Hat was placed over her head.

Thinking of all the scy-fy movies she could recall, Hailey winced a little as she thought a feeble Hello?

Hailey Hinkle, then a muggle but now a witch.

Can you read everything in my mind? That would be...a problem.

Bits and pieces, I dear say. Muggle-Borns are easier to read, though some have a strong will.

Okay...well, I'd like to be in Ravenclaw.

Oh? You do value intelligence...but your ambition, it's what drives your thirst for knowledge. Nothing, not even your ignorance, can stop your pursuit for anything you desire.

...do you know how I became a witch?

An ancestor must have been one, or that's how it seems, my dear. But onto thy sorting:

”I see many things, but your will speaks clearly. Near nothing daunts you; whatever you seek you seek well, for that determination for knowledge is what drives you. Goals are to be strived for and you can't live with knowing you hadn't done your best to achieve them, whether immense or miniscule. I admire your ambition and thus...I sort you in Sʟʏᴛʜᴇʀɪɴ.”

With the recent boat of students that brought everyone into the castle known as Hogwarts. Only stories and rumors from his family of what Hogwarts might entail for their son of theirs. Most importantly, what house he might be. But the list of what Keenan known about the houses from what he heard from his parents.

HufflePuff: They usually hard work, being pateint, loyalty and fair play. In all honesty, only hard work would be the only attritube that Keenan would think that would fit him the most.
However, he would usually have moments of laziness when related to muggle subjects but not the wizarding subjects. Being patient, no. Being patient did nothing to help him with learning and getting everything done as soon as possible.
Being loyalty, well, of course. The Kingsman name wasn't something that anyone could easily disrespect their name. That would be the only reason he couldn't be associated with Slytherin as they used a snake as their pride and joy but would make the most sense for Keenan as he was willing to do a lot to be known.

Slytherin: Slytherin came with their bias in Keenan's mind as they have the highest rate, between the houses, of producing dark wizards which Keenan tells himself that wouldn't be the wisest thing to do.
But the two traits that Keenan saw the two most traits that could relate the most would be Ambitous, willing to do anything for his goals (for instance, his incoming grades), and cunning.
Now, lying isn't something he isn't great at but it needed to be done then maybe...

Gryffindor: His parents would doubt he would be a Gryffindor as... - Well, Keenan was smart, he thought, but he was easily not one of the bravest people around.
However, if push came to shoved and the challenge wasn't dire and his cousin was danger, he would find a way. Determination would be something he could relate to, as well.

Ravenclaw: Least favorite. He might learning but if that was the whole premise of a house, well - He was a kid, not a machine built for learning.
He took interest of the wizard world but he knows for sure not everything apart of this new world will be too interesting like the Wizard's interpretation of Muggles. God, that sounded like a bore...

"KEENAN KINGSMAN!"

A voice pratically echoed out in the great hall.

Wait, Great Hall? How did he get here?! With him listing off the houses in his head, he must of literally been walking as he thought. What he could see was this; A large amount of people who would be either eating the god-damn tasty looking food compared to what his mother could cook up. He would be sitting with a few amount of kids and now he was in this situation.

They would all stare until the voice sighed, "Come up." Feeling stunned as he looked over towards the hat.
"Did that hat speak? - Mom said something about it..."
Still not used to the whole, 'objects can speak, haha'. Before he would go up towards the hat. His legs felt weak and actually awkward. This didn't happen a lot but for situations of importance, his body knew this would be his future of what he'll be representing and what will the hat see within Keenan.

Sitting on the little throne as he put the hat onto his head, slightly shifted due to Keenan's amount of hair would make it hard for the Sorting Hat to fit onto his head.

"Aaaah, oooh. I see..."

The Sorting Hat groaned with interest, but it knew it did the same thing with the other amount of kids.
"Hufflepuff flows in your viens, boy. Ah yes..." Those words made Keenan's body fliched slightly but it was all too clear for the Hat.

"BAH! You don't want to be a Hufflepuff, huh? You have a certain loyalty to you and the vigor of wanting to work is noticable..." Keenan's brows furrowed, forming his small fists.
"No-no-no, blasted Sorting hat! C'on, Hat. Give me Slytherin!"
Keenan murmered softly before the Hat bellowed out, "Slytherin! Oh child...!" Before the shock could rest, the hat continued, "You might be able to give a certain flair of a Slytherin. However, your way in Hufflepuff shines. Your words can only get you so far, but your actions will carve a path for you! Let your work show. In that case...HUFFLEPUFF!"

A loud cheer would be heard, clapping to another member of the Hogwarts family and to be apart of House Hufflepuff, as well.
Taking off the hat, his face clearly red around the face and ears. He wanted to be different but only was going down the same road of what his parents were as well. With the faint urge to cry, he walked towards his table of Hufflepuffs and awaited his cousin to come up.
"Faolan, we have to be in the same house. People I don't even like. People I don't even know. This seriously can't be my house forever, please..."
The boy prayed, his eyes closed, as he waited for his cousin to come up.

George entered with the rest of the black-robed first years, looking like a timid flock of crows as they tip-toed into the great hall. The grandeur of it hit him all at once. His mouth watered and his tongue pressed against his teeth, the smell of a feast making him realize just how empty his belly was. It was fortunate that nobody caught him drooling as he leaned his head back to watch the candles bob, their little flames like stars against the illusory sky. Swept up in the magic of it all, he bumped into the back of another student.

"Sorry," George muttered, scrunching up his robe-sleeve and wiping his lip with it before the other student could turn around to glare at him. Not the most valuable first impression. He had no house to bring shame to yet, thankfully, but that was soon to change.

The old man in charge - Lear - marched to the front. Everyone was quiet, in line - it felt almost military, and the careful order of it all made George squirm a bit and fidget with his damp robe-sleeve. He wanted to ask what would happen, but all of the other first-years seemed enraptured by the click of his boots and the scrunch of his leathery armor. It was only his booming voice echoing from the front of the hall that arrested young George's attention, ensnaring it with a welcoming speech.

He chewed his lip as he listened - Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. The headmaster had listed them in his order of preference, he thought. Brave, righteous Gryffindors, the proud lions. Slytherin, the house of snakes in all senses of the word. He'd read some on the train, when he had the chance. They were a house of dark wizards, of liars, but they had cunning. No doubt they would lead as impressive a life as any Gryffindor. A man in Diagon Alley had told him more, but he was starting to think they couldn't actually open their mouths wide enough to swallow whole mice. The ones at the feast table seemed to have the same food as the other houses.

The last pair, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, were no doubt the most boring houses of the wizarding world. It was plenty good to be clever, and decent to be just... but how could one bear to be such a bore? To have a bird for an emblem, or a badger? Nothing could match the ferocity of the lions, the ruthless snakes, certainly - but it would have done them well to at least try. Birds and badgers were nothing more than garden pests, not something to fly on a banner. When the speech concluded, George felt a chill. The sorting hat was never wrong. It would have to be Gryffindor, then.

"George Henry!"

He strode up to the seat at the front of the hall, his chin held high and his heart full of pride. He thought of lions, of heroic fairy tales, of red robes and scarves. Of sitting at that table. The hat was placed gingerly atop his head, and he felt like a Gryffindor.

"Hufflepuff," came a thought into his head, in an unfamiliar voice. Both the sudden intrusion and the disappointing house choice prompted him to let out a pitiful whimper.

"But I want to be in Gryffindor- and really, I think I should be."

"Is that so? Hmmm... well, perhaps... no, no. I see the courage... but justice, loyalty, that's what drives you, young man. A hard worker, too - and you do know there is a kind of bravery in being unafraid of toil. You are a Hufflepuff, and you do know that I am never wrong..." He wanted to reach up and thwap that smug hat right off his head. He felt foolish for being angry at a garment, though his hand sclosed tight into fists as he awaited the final decision.

"Hufflepuff!" the hat announced, sentencing George to a yellow, badger-spangled fate.

The hat was plucked from his head, and he marched dejectedly to the Hufflepuff tables - where he was swept in among the ranks like an old friend, patted on the back and brought down to sit by the other members of his new 'second family.' Perhaps they weren't quite so bad... even if they were so very boring.
