ReducioA small smile formed on Kaitlyn’s lips, her head tilted to the side, as Liam waved calculations from a notebook and listed off different statistics and characteristics. ‘I like Liam. I have no idea what most of this means … and for that matter, I don’t own a broom either. But it sounds cool. I wonder if I could get a look at those calculations … and maybe even ask a few questions. I want to learn more.’
Before the young Slytherin could even formulate her questions, she heard the voice of an older Slytherin girl. Then, things turned sideways. Colin lost control of not one but both brooms! And they were twisting him around, playing with his body like a pretzel. Twisting and turning. Shooting higher and higher up in the air. Kaitlyn cringed at the site. It didn’t look pleasant, and she could only imagine how much pain Colin was in. From how his body contorted, it was likely a lot of pain!
Then, on top of it, Colin hit the ground … hard. Kaitlyn yelped in surprise. Colin appeared to be talking to his brother, which likely meant he wasn’t in too terrible of a condition? She honestly had no idea. She wished she knew more about magic and even healing spells. Even if she couldn’t have helped much without the proper equipment, spells, and potions, she would have liked to lessen the pain at least. If there was one thing she was quickly learning, she enjoyed helping others. It made her feel happy. Clearly, Colin needed help. Sadly, there wasn’t much she could do.
Before rushing over, Kaitlyn spotted Colin’s brooms recklessly flying in the air before finally falling back to earth, both of them hitting Colin one last time. Kaitlyn’s eyes darted around to confirm that there were no more projectiles, and she rushed over to Colin. The older Slytherin was there, too. Kaitlyn heard the plan to bring Colin to the hospital immediately. She agreed with that assessment. “Let me help, please,” she squeaked, ready to aid in whatever minuscule help she could provide as a young second-year Slytherin. She was determined to do something. Out of respect for Colin, however, she diverted her eyes so she didn’t stare at his injuries.Word Count:

Two Heads Aren't Better Than One

Colin tried to get up, to move himself, but the waves of pain coming in from every part of him were just too much! He groaned with the effort. He could feel his legs, but they wouldn't budge. His arms throbbed and his head started going all foggy. He mumbled something. He heard indistinct voices. Friends were calling his name. Someone said something about going to hospital.
He could hear Liam's voice. Colin's eyes closed. He dreamed. At first he was the wolf, running over the vast stretches of cold landscape. There were no trees here. Only the Ice in the distance and the tumbled earth and breeze whipped grasses. Yammers from his mates alerted him that the hunt was on! They streamed across the land, until they found what their noses were leading them towards.
One of the upright creatures. The ones that walked on two legs. Brown hair it had, and eyes like the Sun through clouds. It held only a small staff of wood in its hands. Easy prey! But the staff moved and the wolves were scattered. Some lay dead; others fled. Only one remained. The White Wolf. Colin crept towards the powerful thing, and it stretched out its hand. Colin's eyes were on the strange staff of wood. With its other hand, it scritched him behind his ears and patted his head.
His eyes fluttered open and he laughed. Who knows what the delirium of such a brilliant wreck could make one think is funny! It hurt to laugh! Colin was floating. The voices surrounded him. Liam. He recognised Mellani and KitKaits and Avery. There were others he didn't recognise. His brother's voice came through eventually. "We'll have ye up to hospital in no time, Cail! Yer legs are all twisted and broken around, but at least they didn't fall off lad!" He sounded cheerful about the whole incident, and Colin took heart from that.
"We cast some bandages and all; but there's a lot more blood than I thought there would be!" Liam went on. "All in all, I'd say today's trial was not quite as successful as we had hoped! I'm sure we must have made a minor miscalculation somewhere along the way!"
Colin giggled. Minor miscalculation! He tried to focus on those helping to carry him up to the hospital. He wondered which interns would be on duty. He was hoping for Ileen. His eyes began to close again. He heard the music of a fiddle off in the distance, and saw them dancing. There she was, the beautiful queen, dancing with the glorious knight of the air and prince and princess arrayed around her!
The music flowed from the fiddle and surrounded them. Music was a kind of magic that even muggles could work. It translated one, from wherever they were to another world entirely. Even the simplest of nursery songs could bring one out of the real world of everyday and into the worlds of marching soldiers or cows leaping over the Moon. How much more when the children themselves were already magical and the real world they inhabited was one of magic?
Colin found himself no longer in Hogwarts. The music had translated him to Elsewhere, a kind of other world. A faerie, a place of delight and peril paired. The magic set it apart, set them apart. Few could enter Faerie, without the right key or the correct word of command. Yet music brought all three peoples together, the mundane, the magical and the fae.
Colin took up his fiddle and played for the Queen of Faerie, even as, outside, his broken body was borne up by loving hands and taken to the houses of healing. It was strange and comforting all at the same time, to be in two places. To be here, in Elsewhere, also to be there, in the mundane world. To fly between them as easily as one ran the corridors from History of Magic to Runes.

✽Avery watched in shock as Colin crashed to the ground. Immediately after he crashed, Avery dropped her broom and ran towards him. She knew from experience how bad broom crashes could be. They could be very damaging and very painful. She looked at Colin in horror. His body broken and bleeding on the ground. This was bad.
Avery heard an older Slytherin girl say that they needed to get him to the Hospital Wing. Avery nodded her head and prepared to take some of Colin's weight. "I can support some of his weight if you could grab his other side?" Avery asked the older Slytherin girl.
Before hoisting Colin up, she took an assessment of his injuries. Of course, she was no healer, but she remembered watching her aunt heal people before, so how hard could it be? She had noticed that there was a lot of blood, and his arm was definitely broken. Not good. This wasn't going to be a fun walk up three flights of stairs.
"You ready?" Avery asked to both Colin and the older Slytherin girl even though she knew Colin was unconscious. Probably a good thing. This walk wouldn't be fun for him at all if he was awake. Maybe he wouldn't feel the pain because he was unconscious? Avery hoped that was the truth. Otherwise, things could go from bad to worse. ✽

Ileen normally never strayed towards the broom racing club area, but today, after working her way through several thick books of human muscles and bones she needed to clear her head a little bit. It was still morning and the air was crisp and cold as it should be during February.
The young Slythering took several deep breaths and felt the fresh air fill her lungs and escape through her nose. Her cheeks already reddened in the cold and she pulled her soft Slyterhin scarf up over her nose. Since she didn’t plan a long walk, she was not appropriately dressed.
Pushing her cold hands further down into the pockets of her Hogwarts winter robe, she raised her shoulders to resist the cold a bit more and carried on. Her feet carried her over the grounds, a bit further away from the castle.
Ileen blinked into the morning light and saw some students on brooms and on the ground nearby. With a sigh she turned around. She would never understand people that cherished sports like that. Way too brutal and dangerous. As if they needed more trouble.
The sixth year was mentally already back in the library and reviewing her notes, as screams and loud chatter pulled her back to reality.
Her healer instinct kicked in right away. It sounded like someone got hurt! Ileen whirled around on her heels so fast that her own ponytail wiped across her face.
As a precaution, she fumbled for her wand in her sleeve. Hopefully she wouldn't need it, but you never knew. When she ran to the center of the action, a crowd had already formed around a boy lying on the ground, with other students standing nearby.Ileen pushed herself forward and gasped in shock. That didn't look good at all.
There probably wasn’t a limb or bone in this boy's body left that was in its right spot. The healer quickly scanned the scene. Two brooms nearby, goggles on the face… Probably a stupid flying experiment.Ileen inspects Colin’s injuries
Wisdom: 5 +15 = 20 → She should have a rough picture
She was too focused on the situation at hand to recognize the face of the boy she had already crossed paths with twice. Focus Ileen. One thing after another. She had learned the painful lesson that losing your cool and trying to fix everything lead to more trouble than help.
An apparently sane older student (Mellani) already was making the same conclusion Ileen had: He needed to go to the hospital wing, as soon as possible. Another girl was next to him, upset and flustered (Kaitlyn), trying to help as much as she could. But what were they supposed to do?
As a strangely familiar boy (Liam) and another girl (Avery) made a move to pick him up, Ileen intervened and made her presence known.
“Hold on! Don’t move him!” Her voice was calm but firm. She allowed no contradiction. “We need to stabilize him first, we don't know if we will make the injuries worse by moving him.” She went down on her knees next to Colin, rolled up her sleeves and inspected his body.
Her eyes wouldn’t turn away as she kept talking. “What happened? Was he conscious in between?”
She located what was probably the biggest issue: His broken leg. Ileen was in the zone and just started to order people around.
She looked up at the flustered, very pretty Syltherin girl (Kaitlyn). “It’s okay, he's going to be fine. Can you get us some more coats, blankets or something to keep him a bit warmer?” Then she turned to the older Slytherin girl (Mellani). “Can you assist me and hold his leg in place?”
Then she would look at the remaining people (Liam and Christina). “One of you needs to get the nurse or a professor. I can patch him up a little but we need something floating to move him safely to the wing.”
With a concentrated expression, she carefully felt his leg and rolled up the leg of his pants to see the full damage. With a few quick movements she would bring it back into the correct position. Something that would hold for the time being, but not fix it for good. She nodded to Mellani, hoping that the girl would now hold the leg while Ileen tried to heal the bone.
The tip of the wand glowed as it touched the skin and she knew that the bone now that parts of the bones would merge into their original place. But the work here was far from done and most likely way past her competences.Ileen attempts to cast Episkey on Colin’s leg

“Merlin, did he jump through a meat grinder or what?” She mumbled the words to herself in frustration, but they were still clearly audible. Then she turned to the next injury.

Christina learned from the other two girls that the boy flying on two brooms is named Colin. And, apparently he could be.. chaotic. Well, she didn't doubt that, looking up at the sky. Before long, however, the special moment turned into a sour one. Christina heard tons of shouting before she heard a loud 'Thud'.
It was Colin: he was now laying on the ground, with his bones probably broken in all possible places. She realized quite late that there was another girl up in the air with Colin, who quickly soared after him, successfully landing without the loud thud.
While Christina and the rest of the group ran over to Colin, she heard the girl that was in the air with him giving instructions. Quickly, the group decided that they should get him to the Hospital Wing. Two of the girls that were watching planned to drag him there. Even though this didn't seem like the best idea, Christina didn't know anything else to do. After all, she doesn't know any healing spells! And how often is it that you're in this situation? She could barely even fly herself!
Luckily, Christina was saved from her stressful thinking when another girl found her way over to them. This girl actually did seem to know a lot about healing. Christina noticed her analyzing both the scene and the injuries. She was quite in awe, actually, for how organized the girl seemed. The girl sternly started giving the group instructions, which calmed Christina a little, if only slightly. Christina looked at the other boy in the group, as they were both given the instruction to get the nurse or a professor, and nodded.
"I'll look for a nurse!", Christina shouted, perhaps a bit too loudly. She was still in shock after all. After this statement, Christina immediately ran off to the Hospital Wing, hoping that the nurse would quickly come with her, without asking too many questions…

ReducioOut of respect to Colin and his injuries, Kaitlyn kept her eyes diverted from the various serious ailments the boy had. She glanced at the younger Gryffindor girl, who appeared to want to move Colin in his current state. ‘I’m not sure that is a good idea … he is injured, after all.’ Before she could consider doing anything else, an older Slytherin girl came over. The first thing out of her mouth was to not move Colin … which came at a good time before it happened! They didn’t want to make his injuries even worse, after all. This girl started giving all of them orders … not that she minded. They clearly needed direction.
When the girl addressed her, Kaitlyn listened intently and nodded. She took off her robe and handed it over to be used to keep Colin warm. “Ok, thank you. Please help … I’ll go search for something,” she replied quietly with determination in her voice. She wasn’t used to this … but she also wanted to try her best to help. With that in mind, she raced away to look for blankets or towels. As she did so, she saw a Gryffindor girl running to get the nurse.Word Count:
