More practise. Mylo had lost their duel again, and although it went better than the last one -Their team had managed to get at least one of the opposing team down- it meant that there was still a lot of room of improvement.

So practising was all they could do at this point and thus Mylo had put out a request asking if there were 6 people who wanted to duel against each other. This would give Mylo even more opportunities to see other peoples strategies and spells in action.

As Mylo had received 6 willing participants, 2 of which they had duelled against before so Mylo was happy to see them here as it meant they could see their strategies from a different angle this time, he had told them to meet him at the duelling club.

As everyone settled into their teams and found their places on either side of the stage Mylo turned towards the two groups.

"Hi everyone! Thank you guys for reaching out for this, let's have a clean match I expect to see respect towards each other and that no-one tries to seriously harm another duellist. If anything's wrong signal and I will stop the match immediately!"

Going over the general rules of the match he stepped back from the stage, pointing to the team which included 2 of his friends.

"On this side we have Avis, Axyen and Maisie." and pointing towards the other side "And on this side we have Atlas, Prat and Elisa."

Lifting their hand in the air to signal the start of the match Mylo was curious to see how each team would fare. "And start!"

Prat's steps were heavy as he treaded towards the club. The weight of his latest official duel and it's subsequent loss clung to him like a damp cloak. Each memory of his failure cutting deeper than last.

He'd been bested, not by some grand adversary, but by a challenger who had studied their game already, exploiting his weakness with surgical precision. The whispers of doubt grew louder with every step he took. Echoing through his own mind "Is this the end of line for you?" His hand hovered over the grip of his wand, the once familiar grip now felt foreign.

A symbol of his shattered pride rather than what used to be an extension of his arm. The grandness of the hall offered no relief, only a reminder of the vast question ahead of him. To be or not be a duellist? That question seemingly consumed his soul for the foreseeable future.

His gaze was steely as he pushed open the door and stepped inside. The familiar scent of place doing very little to improve his sour mood. He gave Elisa and Atlas a curt not, his hand finding it's way to his wand, ready and eager to strike.

It was Atlas' favorite day of the week—Friday meant that the upcoming two days, the students have no classes and they have all the time to themselves. On this particular day, he was going to participate in the chaos of dueling and he had signed up to join the viper squad of his house which was a group of elites that participated in the match of dueling.

Casting spells with his schoolmates was a harmless pastime for the young Slytherin boy, who was ready to face the abyss of chaos because he had experimented with witnessing someone bleed while serving as a prefect. Although the young Slythein knew Prat Pass, the recently appointed prefect, he had never been in an environment where they would frequently interact face-to-face. In an effort to get ready for what was about to happen, he took out his wand and greeted the other boy courteously while standing in place.

In some ways the young boy was excited to take on the challenge and as a future duelist and captain, this would be a true test for him. The Ravenclaw prefect, who had organized the duel, was prepared to officiate everything. His expression was somehow unreadable, and he stood erect. In his heart, he knew better than to underestimate his opponents, so he waited for the prefect to give the all-clear. Although Elisa was still unknown to the boy, Prat was a skilled duelist and captain, and Atlas hoped that everyone would succeed.

Elisa was far from thrilled of her team's latest defeat against the lions. In her opinion, if her Gryffindor classmates were capable of winning a duel in barely six rounds, the snakes should be up to that standard as well. Thus increased the time the second year would spend in the duelling club. She forced herself to continue the terribly boring task of firing spells at an inanimate dummy by reminding her of the feeling of inferiority and defeat.

Thus, when Elisa heard about an unofficial duel hosted by her Ravenclaw classmate Mylo, she did not hesitate to sign up - an actual duelling match where there were live people one could fire spells at was much more interesting than the row of lifeless dummies waiting to be hit. Her joy was increased when she saw that she would be, again, duelling alongside her captain and classmate, Prat. The young girl was convinced of what this duellist was capable of - even though his skills did not get the chance to reach their full extent during their last duel. The other person Elisa got paired with was Atlas Anderson, another classmate of hers that she did not know as well.

It was with a light heart, therefore, that Elisa stepped onto the duelling piste. She offered her two teammates a subtle smile as well as a little wave towards Mylo, before pulling out her wand, ready for the moderator's signal.

Axyen was beyond excited for the duel today, this was the first unofficial dueling match he participated in and he was curious to see how it would go. With Arnold, Axyen's purple Pygmy Puff safely asleep in his dormitory in the Hufflepuff Common Room, Axyen predicted that he had around thirty minutes to an hour or so before Arnold would wake up; that gave him plenty of time for this duel or so he hoped. Axyen got dressed in his Hufflepuff uniform consisting of a gray shirt with three thin horizontal 'V' shaped yellow stripes at the top. He wears a black robe over it with the Hufflepuff House Crest pinned to the left side of the jacket. Additionally, he wears black jeans, matching the black robes. The inside of the robes are yellow which was most notably visible in his hood and sleeves. Axyen looked at both of his teammates, they were both Ravenclaws.

Considering how his most recent duel ended, which finally happened to be a win, Axyen was feeling pretty good and suddenly he didn't want to stop dueling at all. Additionally, this could work as training for him, he barely even works or practices for his duels outside of learning new spells, so this would actually benefit him a lot further than that or at the very least that's what Axyen was hoping. Axyen recognized Mylo, they were one of the Ravenclaw duelists that Axyen faced off against in his most recent official duel; from what Axyen could recall, Mylo was doing pretty well in the match, at least during the bits that Axyen was conscious that is. Axyen looked over at his opponents, all of them were Slytherin and he didn't recognize any of them, but he didn't lose any confidence at all. Axyen was starting to get better at remaining calm and that was even easier considering the fact that there was no crowd watching him here, it was just his team vs. Slytherin.

Axyen looked over to his teammates and for the first time, he wanted to be the one to give some words of encouragement; after all, being in a good attitude would boost their chances of winning right? Even if that was not the case, it was better to at least try and raise their spirits even just
a little bit. For the first time in a while, Axyen felt pretty confident that he and his team would win; as long as he gave it his all, everything would work out for them. 'Deep breath, deep breath...' Axyen swiftly inhaled at a slowed pace before exhaling. 'Alright, let's do this!' Axyen thought to himself as he used a bit of effort to not smile, he didn't want to be overconfident and he definitely didn't want to seem overconfident.

He looked over to the Slytherin team and he considered telling them 'good luck', but then he stopped himself. That might seem rude or overconfident depending on how you looked at it. Axyen shook his head and readied himself with his trust Phoenix Feather core wand as Mylo let them know that the duel could now officially start. Axyen prepared himself for absolute chaos and in that moment, he already knew what he wanted to do. After all, when it came to dueling, you had to think fast and come up with important decisions swiftly in rapid succession. It was something that Axyen still needed to learn, but he was slowly getting there with time. This duel would give him a lot of ideas and it would give him a good understanding of how skilled he currently is, maybe he does make a good duelist, only time would tell...

Prodigal Defense Against the Dark Arts Learner - Able to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts 1 year ahead of their actual school year. You may only choose a spell taught in DADA classes. At end game they learn 1 restricted spell. This can also serve as an alternative means to learning spells besides earning them through DADA class.

Wand Maker (Phoenix Feather Core):
• 10% chance that a random spell known by the caster will be cast in addition to the spell that they have already cast. The spell will target the same target the caster had attacked/aided with a spell that round. If the spell cast had no target, then a target is assigned randomly with no consideration of friend or foe. The second spell still has to go through the normal targeting mechanics, it would not be an automatic hit or anything. This effect will not take place if the wand is not drawn.
• In duels the wand only chooses from the list of official duelling spells.

A duel arranged by her coach friend, Mylo, was something Maisie wouldn't dream of missing. And with Avis once again by her side, she felt like this was an opportunity to redeem herself. Together, they could do just about anything. And this time, they had the addition of an older Hufflepuff that Maisie was pretty sure Mylo had been scared of in their last duel. And who really could blame them? The boy's spells looked powerful as hell. But he was on their side against the Slytherins.

Speaking of the snakes, Maisie was unfamiliar with all of them, expect Prat, who'd been in an unofficial Quidditch match with her once. He seemed pretty involved at just about everything so he was probably a good duellist and she thought she'd seen Elisa's name on a duelling roster too. Gripping her wand, she had a feeling the snakes were not going to hold back—and neither should they.

Looking across at Avis, she gave her best friend a smile and a wave before offering the same to Axyen. Perhaps the one lesson she'd learned from duelling so far was that it was as much mental as it was physical. If you had a good attitude and believed in yourself, you could do just about anything—including on the piste.

Avis entered the Duelling Club riding high on the fact that it was not only a Friday but she’d just passed her first exam in Defense Against the Dark Arts for that term and couldn’t help but feel a bit proud of the fact.

Her usual calm disposition had been replaced with a wide smile between freckled cheeks and she flashed a grin at everyone in the room, including her Slytherin opponents whose house she historically had no love for.

After greeting Mylo and taking her place next to her best friend Maisie on the dias, Avis pulled her wand from its usual (and debatably unsafe) home in her waistband and listened as Mylo went through a few rules.

Well… half listened. She was a bit distracted studying those she didn’t recognize in the room. She knew Maisie and Mylo of course, two of her closest friends in Ravenclaw. Prat she recognized from an impromptu game of hopscotch last term, the same expression of aloof disdain spread across his features. Her gaze slid to his two partners, which she’d never come across before as was the same with her team’s third member. But Maisie had mentioned something about his proficiency with spells earlier so Avis wasn’t worried.

And after all, this was her second duel. The girl considered herself fairly experienced now and puffed out her chest at the thought. A passed exam and a successful duel? Sounded like a good day to her. All they had to do was knock a few snakes around…

As soon as they had given the signal the two teams could start spells flew across the duelling stage. One spell that stood out to Mylo was one cast by Axyen, Mylo had duelled him before and knew how hard his spells could hit. And this one was no different.

The spell left his wand with absolute mastery, Atlas seemingly having no way out as the spell hit him right in the chest. And even though it seemed to not do much damage it completely petrified him, which was a great strategy. And it looked like it would be a difficult thing to get out of before it wore of on it's own.

This didn't come without retaliation though, Mylo hadn't seen it but it seemed that right before Atlas became petrified he had managed to get a spell of his own out, aimed right at Axyen. This one also didn't miss it's mark. This spell Mylo was quite familiar though, and knew that it would have hurt.

Prat had also not been able to evade the spell aimed his way, as one cast by Maisie just clipped him, but only just about. It seemed like Prat had very nearly been able to move out of it's way but unfortunately he still got hit with some of the effects, looking like it hurt a bit.

Unfortunately none of the other spells cast hit their intended targets, although Mylo supposed it was a good thing that none of them failed spectacularly.

Checking over the two teams to make sure they were still good to go he let the duel continue.

Mylo was being responsible. She could tell from the way they looked over the teams with a dedicated glance before moving on to round two.

Personally, Maisie was fine. Not a single spell had come her way and the one she'd sent off had indeed connected albeit not as clearly as she might have liked. Still, Prat would be dancing soon enough. Hopefully, it was something fun like the moonwalk she'd done in her first unofficial duel.

She looked over at Avis, who also didn't have a scratch on her. Unfortunately, it was their older teammate who took the brunt—but not before dropping a spell she'd never seen before. Her eyes flew open wide as Atlas's body, stung hit in the chest, freezing him in place. "Whoa," she said, starting back up at Axyen like he wielded the might of a Greek god. It was unlike anything she'd ever seen. The Slytherin was clearly still conscious from the movement in his eyes, but completely still, petrified. It was masterful, the kind of skill she desperately wanted to command on the duelling block.

But for now, little flourishes of dancing and similar first year spells might have to do it. Across the way, she knew the second years all had plenty dangerous spells (having just faced off against three Hufflepuff second years). But maybe their senior member had bought them some time.

As soon as the starting signal left Mylo's mouth, spells began firing all over the place. Elisa did as they had planned, the light of a Flipendo leaving the the tip of her wand and whizzing through the duelling piste to the intended target, Axyen Dragonclaw of Hufflepuff. From the corner of her eye, she saw the spell miss by a few inches to the left. She muffled the little sigh escaping her lips, and scanned the room for anything that might come her way.

Meanwhile, if Prat's spell had missed as well, Atlas' hit - but unfortunately for her teammate, a streak of light shot his way as well. Elisa only recognised the spell when Atlas' body froze, rigid as a stone. Petrificus totalus! she thought, amazed despite herself. Elisa had not seen this spell in use before, and its effects were pretty spectacular. She shot an admiring and perhaps a little envious glance at the third year, before refocusing her concentration on the present duelling match.

It looked like Prat had been hit as well, and Elisa could guess which spell it was from the way he was moving his limbs about. The two Ravenclaws seemed still untouched, and noticing that Elisa concluded in her mind that the two teams were on an equal footing.
