Emmanuel was no stranger to spending hours in the library. There were many evening where the lovely librarian reminded him to head off to the Great Hall for dinner; or to return to his dormitory for the night. He'd spend most of his time working through his assigned course work, or reading about different magical beasts. Occasionally he would peruse more advanced course books; charms being an especially favorite pick. Though he would borrow several books at a time, he was never allowed to check out particularly advanced tomes (being only in his second year). One day he would venture into the restricted section; but tonight was about retrieving a book of incantations and charms that he was not allowed to check out.

Em had stumbled upon on old leather bound book with gold lettering that had fallen down, and was pushed behind several books on the shelf. It was covered in dust, the cover's writing barely visible. Figuring it seemed rather abandoned, and since it wasn't in the restricted section, Em had picked it up and started reading it. The book was entirely handwritten with impeccable penmanship. Its contents varied from beginner charms and defensive spells, all the way to detailed hexes and callous curses; featuring notes in the margins in differently colored ink, and different handwriting. When he went to check it out, it wasn't believed to be a library book, and he got an ear full for the "vandalism" in the book.

Though, he was determined.

The evening feast had finished up, and Em's belly was full. He got up from the Ravenclaw table slightly earlier than everyone else; keeping an eye on the faculty table to make sure the Librarian was still in conversation, and eating their meal. Figuring the time was right, he made his way from the great hall, and set his sights on the library. His path seemed clear, and his heart started to beat a little quicker. His pace quickened as he approached the library entrance, he out stretched his hand to push open the door, when he realized it was ajar. He held his breath, figuring he would run into the dreaded poltergeist Peeves. As he stealthily slipped around the door; he was relieved to see the back of school robes dawned by a Hufflepuff (indicated by the yellow fabric lining the hood).

They were a bit shorter than Em, with long brown hair streaked with blue and pink. They had some peculiar hair accessories, and seemed to be looking for something. Figuring stealth was his main objective, especially since he hadn't spotted Peeves (yet. Though he knew the Library after hours was a favorite spot for the spirit).

Em quietly cleared his throat, and whispered "Excuse me, not trying to frighten you." He gave a small smile, and held his hands up in surrender.

Lemon was sitting in the library, something which had become a routine for them. Oftentimes, they would just sit and listen to the occasional noises that would break the silence, or breathe in the smell of the rows and rows of books. The library was a safe haven for them, protecting Lemon from the overstimulating environment of the rest of the castle. They'd now spent what seemed like hundreds of hours in the library throughout their first year at Hogwarts, and it felt like home almost as much as their own dorm.

They had arrived at the library as soon as they could find an opportunity leave the Hufflepuff table at dinner. Lemon would always try to spend as little time in the great hall as possible; several 'incidents' of overstimulation had arisen from being in there for any time longer than a few minutes, although it was no where near as stressful at breakfasts, perhaps due to everyone's lingering sleepiness.

Lemon reached into their school bag to retrieve a pen. During dinner, a thought had popped into their head - a poem - and Lemon was eager to write it down whilst the idea was still fresh. However, as they rummaged through their bag, they couldn't find it. They had other pens, of course, but they needed their special pen. The beautiful fountain pen they'd been given for their 12th birthday, just before leaving the house for their very first journey to Hogwarts.

"I've probably dropped it," they muttered to themself before ducking under the table When their search beneath the table was unsuccessful, they moved to search underneath the shelves. Just then, they heard someone clear their throat. "Excuse me, not trying to frighten you." Lemon jumped and spun around to see who had spoken. They saw a Ravenclaw student with short brown hair, with his hands held up in surrender. Amused at this sight, Lemon laughed for a moment before they replied. "Not a problem. I'm just looking for my pen. Well, my special pen."
