Nothing complimented breakfast quite like venturing to the abandoned lavatory on a Saturday morning, right? Wrong. So very wrong.
Ari had treated himself with a larger than usual helping of food this morning, confident in the fact it would be a while before he would be able to eat again. That was because he would have to stand and watch a couple of students fulfill detention duties. He had caught them in Hogsmeade well past curfew, one of them even going as far as to obtaining a knife. As a newly appointed prefect, he couldn't let this sort of thing slide. He had a job to do to ensure rules were followed and no harm would come to any students, staff, or innocent bystanders. He was grateful the events of catching the two students didn't lead to any serious injuries.
But now, that filling breakfast was leading to a wave of nausea as he stood here in among the toilets and sinks. It was dirtier than nearly any other room in the castle. The main mirror was chipped and cracked. The porcelain sinks were caked with what had to be a year's worth of grime. The floor was littered with old stain spots and dirt along with flakes of wood from the rotting dilapidated doors. There was a horrible chill to the air here even with the burning candles on the wall, and Ari knew that could only be from the history of this bathroom. He didn't like it here, but hopefully spending some time here would help those boys remember not to do this again.
Ari was pleased to see that detention evading wasn't going to be added to their list of broken rules as the two students shuffled into the bathroom. He had set up some buckets, two with water, two with soap, one with clean rags, and an empty one in case of emergencies. There was also a small tray with a couple of toothbrushes on it. As cruel as it may seem, he couldn't help but smile to himself knowing this bathroom would finally be cleaned, even if it was with mere toothbrushes. A fitting struggle.
"Good morning, gentlemen. I hope you are well rested and well fed, because you will likely be here for a while." Ari explained, crossing his arms as he watched their gazes. "Your punishment for breaking rules the other night will be cleaning this restroom. I have provided you with clean water and soap as well as rags for drying. As for how you will be scrubbing the dirt away, there are a couple of toothbrushes here for you to use. There is also a bucket here for you should your stomach, or mine for that matter, not be able to handle the task. You are not allowed to use magic to aid with the cleaning process for the room, but I will allow you to use it to clean the water once it becomes too dirty. I'll be courteous and do this for you if necessary."
Ari took his wand out of his leather jacket. It would be a good idea to keep it at the ready in case things were to go south. He hoped and prayed that wouldn't be the case, but anything could happen in a school like this.
"After the fact, I'd also like an apology owl of at least 50 words stating your remorse and what you have learned from this. If there are no further questions, I suggest you get started now. Divide the work as you see fit. I look forward to seeing this place sparkle once more."
This detention is for Paul Canales and Andy Loggins. I will be moderating this detention until it is completed. Here are the guidelines that must be followed.
1. Your IC task is to scrub and clean the mirror, sinks, floor, and toilets with the supplies given. You will also need to owl me an apology of at least 50 words regarding your actions.
2You must have a minimum of 200 words per post.
3. You must write a minimum of 600 words in this thread before you are allowed to create or join new threads. You are still allowed to rp in IC threads that you are already participating in as well as chat in all OOC threads. NOTE: Paul, due to you breaking extra rules both IC and OOC, you will be required to write a minimum of 1000 words.
4. After the word requirement is met, you are welcome to continue roleplaying here in this thread.
5. You're not in trouble OOC for the rules broken IC. However, breaking OOC rules may lead to further disciplinary action.
6. Feel free to view this post regarding the detention system, and do not hesistate to owl me for further questions.

It was a perfect day... if detention was the first thing he had to do. As soon as Andy walked into the bathroom, and saw the buckets and TOOTH BRUSHES he knew that this was shady. That is exactly why I hate every single prefect in the whole school World Thought Andy, knowing that if he said it out loud, he will have to use his tongue to wash the bathroom. Another boy was serving detention with Andy. A first year named Paul. Andy slapped Paul on the shoulder. First time in detention, eh? It's the second time for me. Don't worry, we will get this done in no time! My Grandmother used to be a maid, so she knows everything about this kind of stuff. Andy picked up a rag and observed for any holes, since that will just ruin the work Andy does in the bathroom, and not improve it. Andy picked out a rag and put it into the water. Andy's family is rich, so he never really had punishments or had to clean around his house. Their was a maid every day that cleaned Andy's house. He then took a tooth brush and started to scrub the sink. Hey, Paul... How about you wash the toilets?Because Andy for sure does NOT want to... This will be torture, but atleast his punishment will be over, and Andy can get back to classes, and Quidditch...

Paul was so angry at the prefect, he said them to clean a bathroom with toothbrushes on top of a Saturday... Well, he would have to do it so he took out the brush and got ready... The toilet was damn dirty! Before doing this, he went down and asked a seventh year to do the bubble-head charm on him, and then he took the brush... but he was very angry that this had happened. How could he have let himself be caught?
He tried scrubbing the sink first, "I don’t even know how the Muggle cleaning works," he said to himself... Then he tried but failed again, and he knew no spells to get it done. He had to brush it step by step... a part of the sink was brushed.
"YAY!" said Paul. Then he looked at the room feeling disappointed, Andy had been doing the sink... wait we can use rags! "Why is it hard for you?"
"It is hard for me because we did not clean at all... we used spells and not me either. There was another person." Well, I'll also take a rag then, be ready!
My mom's a Muggle, I saw her parents cleaning one time, so I will have to put on the water and then put some soap here, and then use the brush to scrub it... It is faster! Paul said... and he was able to wash the floor.
Now, time for the mirror! He said, and he took his rag and got to work. He put water, then scrubbed.
"Oh this mirror is not even opening. I’m so hungry. Now, I want to scrub it very fast!" he said, and so he did! He got his rag and did it... rubbed the mirror. He also had a fear of spiders... He had been known to faint if he saw one alive. Then he washed it as hard as he could.
It was washing a little and little. He thought, "It will be finished sooner or later, but I have to do what is there left to do." He rubbed it harder! No, he did not dislike the prefect, he hated him!
He thought, "Now, where's my brush? I'll make this area sparkling!" He rubbed it hard. His arm ached. He knew if he gathered more trouble, he would have to waste his beautiful Saturday more. He had to do more work... He had to not want to.
I guess people never use this bathroom, that's why it's so dirty, but I will have to do it. Fall down seven, stand up eight! He was doing it! It was cleaning. Half of the room was looking white and shining. To celebrate, let me rub some more!
I will have to do it! He rubbed it as hard as he could. It was sparkling! The one with the bigger brush would have been better, he thought to himself.
Okay, then I will do as hard as I can. Rub and rub, rub the boat and you will be enjoying your Saturday, lovely! He brushed it hard and then he asked the prefect and took a 10-minute break.

Well now after the ten min break was over he had to now go back to cleaning so he started to do it now since he was a little used to it it was kind of easy it was a little hard doing it withouut magic now he had to scrub the whole room he then stated doing it he scrubbed everything he could find the bathroom was gleaming and he wondred why had andy slapped him on the back we one thing was certain he was feeling sad that he had broken those nrules to get a detention and now he had to finish it so he got to work he had to clean it he fell down it hurt a lot he had to drag himself out and ask the prefect help because of his cut leg(only the skin and a little blood) after that situarion was dealt with he worked as hard as he could knowing after he had done.it he would be free im never looking at a clean bathroom in the same way ever again it took them so mucj work to do this thing he had been scrubbing here for more than a hour he was frustated but bhe wouldnt give up he tried harder and harder he knew that he will acheive his goal soon lets do it he chanted to himself it was hardhe saw a spider he was surprised and i mentioned his fear of spiders he fainted for about ten min and then he rose again he was in the hospital wing he took some choclate and went back to work off this is hard i could be sleeping rigjht now he had a bathroom to cleanwell it was hard work and he had also been to give a apology letter he had never apolozied to anyone so i guess this is his first time he wanted to hit everyone with a curse but he couldnt he had to try again i wont ever fail he said and he tried again this is lpoke torture he said to himself how did he land here it was the hardest job of his life he now again used thesoap there and water and he did it and he started to scrape it again as hard as he could and then the bathroom was looking neat as hell and he did it again and again now the batheroom is cleaned now he was feeling proud of himself i will never make a single bathroom dirty ever again in my whole life he said to himself and he did the work as hard as he could to remind him that he thanked the prefect for the kindness he had showed him and another person came in please try to not tomake the bathroom dirtyu we had to work very had for it he said of course siad the person who entred and then he got ready to leave untill the prefect said ok then lets go to him to ask

Andy looked at Paul, and he was really doing things fast. He was cleaning the sink, but the toilets... That's a problem. To be honest, even a homeless person wash a dirty toilet with TOOTHBRUSHES for money. But detention is detention, and prefects are annoying. Let's just get this over with... I guess... Andy picked up the tooth brush, and started scrubbing the left over, dung, dirt, and whatever was in that toilet, until he could not handle it anymore. He felt like he would throw up... Now that the first toilet is done, we have to do the SECOND one... Kill me. There was about three toilets in the bathroom, and three seconds until Andy's soul will leave his body. Whoever is doing their buisness in the toilets... Oh my god... WHAT DO THEY EVEN EAT After Andy finished the second toilet, he went on to the third, but the third one had some sort of goo in it that looked that troll saliva. As the boy scrubbed away and dried with a rag, he noticed that he forgot to finish the sinks... Even worse. The thing is that doing all of this on a weekend is even worse. Andy can be in the library studying, or on the pitch playing Quidditch or even swimming in a lake. But guess what? He is doing the job of a god damn sorry for the cursing caretaker! But at least when he will get this over with, he can go back to the common room, play Quiddtich and forget that this ever happened. People will be teasing Andy calling him the "Caretaker's son" too...

Andy was already finishing up his detention, and it really took a long time just to clean a bathroom. That just makes the job as a caretaker even more hard to do. As the boy finished the last toilet and sink, he remembered that their is a floor to clean too. But at least it is not a dirty toilet... Andy took a mop, put it into water and soaked it their for about 30 seconds, and started moving the mop and cleaning the dust, dirt, and WHATEVER else is in their. For a quick second, the lad looked at the prefect. Then, out of Andy's mouth, one question blurted out. Do you really want to make kids do the job of a caretaker? Just asking. Realizing that what he said was just a tad bit offensive, he added one message. No offense... He looked at the prefect one more time and got back to mopping again. It was a bit easier to clean the floor with a mop, and that is why exactly Andy did the hard job like cleaning the sink and toilets first. But overall, this was not that bad of a detention. Back in his first year, Andy had to clean the whole history of magic classroom, after Andy and his friend Justin [Who mesteryosly disapeared from Hogwarts /hio ] messed up the classroom, just for fun. But, Andy decided to keep that message to himself, because who knows how annoying a prefect can get. As Andy finished up his duty of detention, he asked the prefect, Can I go now? I will send you the apology letter later.

It was rather easy to stand and watch as Ari's housemate worked to clean the lavatory. A part of him wanted to feel some sort of remorse for this punishment, but discipline had to be issued in order to prevent this from happening again.
An honest question came from Andy, an Ari had an honest answer to match. "I never said I wanted to make you do the work of our beloved groundskeeper," He said as he watched the other Ravenclaw closely, wand still in hand. He hoped this boy would not get any foolish ideas and decide to defy his punishment after he had already done so much, and thankfully, Andy seemed willing to continue to cooperate. "Frankly, I'm not very fond of dishing out disciplinary punishments, especially to my own housemates. But I do have a duty as a prefect to make sure students, both younger and older, know what will happen if they choose to disobey the rules the headmaster and the professors have laid out for us to follow. I'm sure there's a logical reason why they don't want students leaving the school after a certain hour and before a certain age. I'd assume it comes down to safety before anything else. You wouldn't want to sneak out one night and never return, would you?"
Was it a bit of an extreme example scenario? Yes, but unfortunately, it was realistic. There were always those with darkened hearts and evil minds waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike on the innocent. That was a constant throughout both Wizarding and Muggle history.
Ari bent down to meet Andy's eye level so he would hopefully take his next words to heart. "I want this to sink in for you, no pun intended. I chose a punishment like this so you would understand the weight of what you did, and that it would motivate you to hopefully not repeat your actions. But I would much rather stand here and supervise you scrubbing sinks and toilets multiple times than you sneak out again and never come back to our common room. I would live with the guilt that I didn't make sure you understood why, and that's why I'm making sure you understand now."
He rose and inspected the lavatory with a weighted sigh, a smile on his face as he admired how much nicer the room appeared after this Ravenclaw boy's hard work. "Very well. I'd say you've met my satisfaction with your cleaning efforts. You're free to ring your mop out, pour the water down one of these sinks, and go about your day. I'll handle taking the cleaning supplies back to where they belong. Thank you for showing up and doing a good job. It truly means more than you would think." He patted Andy on the back gently. "I'm sure you have things you'd rather be doing than standing in here with me after all. Please don't forget your apology owl, though. I'll be expecting it soon."
