Spell - Disarming Charm
Incantation - Expelliarmus | ex-PEL-lee-ar-muss
Wand Movement -
WC - 662An unexpected meeting in the library had lit a fire beneath Edwin, a fire fuelled by an uncharacteristic drive to learn. This new found motivation had drove him into an empty Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom in the late hours of a monday, the light cast by the candles creating just enough light for the textbooks to be readable. The book, notably a second years spellbook, was opened to a page detailing the disarming charm, a spell that Edwin had always intended to learn as early as possible, but having learnt that one of his peers had already became familair with the charm was motivation enough to force him into action. Truthfully, he felt the book was unnecassary, merely as a last resort for if he was stuck. The spelll itself was amongst the most famous duelling spells, and having grown up in a household with two Aurors, the spell had been discussed almost daily. Then, as his brothers had progressed through their times at Hogwarts, discussion of duelling and the spells used had became increasingly common, this spell almost always being a part of the conversation.
"Right, uh.." He muttered to himself, glancing around at the classroom with a scowl. Whilst he was eager to learn, the effort it would take to prepare the room hardly seemed worth it. But, despite this he began to push aside the desks and chairs, save for the desk that his book sat atop. It didn't take long until a lane of empty space was created in the center of the classroom, which was when Edwin dragged one of the target practice dummies into the center, positioning it on the furthest end of the classroom opposite himself. The dummies arm was raised, holding a stick within it's grasp, as if it was wielding a wand.
Without sparing so much as a glance at his text book, Edwin whipped his wand. The movement was overly eager, and unrefined, lacking any of the trained elegence that he had saw when his father had demonstrated the spell. "Expelliarmus!" He urged, the pronunciation sharing the crudeness that his wand motion had displayed. This unrefined, rawness to his spell casting accumulating in nothing happening to the dummy. Not even so much as a wobble of the stick. "Damn.. Expelliarmus!" He was quick to repeat the same mistakes, not even attempting to be more deliberate with his motions. "Stupid things gripping it too tight." He scowled, but made no move to adjust the training dummies grip. Instead, he begrudginly dragged himself over to the text book, lazily casting a glance down towards the books pages. "Oh, right." He almost laughed at his own mistake. The books tracing of the spells casting motion made Edwin feel almost foolish, imagining what a drawing of his own motion would of looked like.
"Expelliarmus!" He urged, his wand motion instantly having made the adjustments, almost perfectly flicking downwards, before swirling in on itself. However, his pronuncation still lacked that same refinement, his emphasis on the 'lee' rather than 'per'. The refining of his spell motion, however, did warrant some sucess, the stick wobbling, almost begging to be freed of the dummies grasp, but, unfortunately, remaining tightly grasped. The Gryffindor's eyes widened in suprise, his lips curled into a big grin at the new found success. But this was only a moments celebration, for the spell was not yet perfect. He began to repeat over and over the spells incantation, until he struck gold. Each attempt slighlty different, until eventually he was struck with a sense of familiarity by his pronunciation, suddenly reminded of how his father had called the incantation.
"Expelliarmus!" He called. A pairing of perfect pronunciation and wand movement ripped the dummies wand free of it's grasp, the stick clattering across to the other end of the room. "Ok, done." Not one to clean up after himself, Edwin turned to immediately depart the room, leaving it in the mess he had created.

Spell - Blindfolding Spell
Incantation - Obscuro | ob-SKOO-roh
Wand movement -
A chance encounter in the library with a certain Slytherin had left Edwin with a rare motivation, a motivation that was only fuelled with their following meeting and a verbal agreement to duel once they had mastered a small list of spells. Top of this list for Edwin was the blindfolding spell, a spell that would surely prove to be useful in any confrontation, as what possible danger could an enemy pose if they are unable to see? Given that this plan had been formed so close to the end of term, Edwin hadn't the time to practice the spell before leaving, but going home to see his parents was likely a better source for him to learn from. His father's library had an entire section dedicated to duelling spells, and the man himself would be a great source of learning, should he be home long enough for Edwin to get the opportunity to ask him.
And so, upon returning to his home in London, Edwin set to his families library almost immediately, showing a sense of urgency that his parents had never quite witnessed. The typically slothful youngest son of the family had returned with a level of urgency to learn that not even his older brothers had displayed, despite all three having been incredibly diligent workers throughout their time at Hogwarts. This urgency was not unrewarded, the amount of relevant books was immediately apparent, and so Edwin sat himself down in the corner, beginning to comb through the books pages until he came across the relevant spell.
Learning the spell then and there would have been perfect, but alas, he was forbidden to cast magic outside of Hogwarts due to his age. He doubted he'd be caught for underage magic in all truthfulness, as it would surely be hard to pin any magic cast by his wand to Edwin personally, who would of simply claimed his brothers stole his wand or something along those lines. However, breaking the law in a house with an auror and ex-auror would be plainly stupid of him.
The spell itself seemed simply enough. Not hard to pronounce, ob-SKOO-roh, though with an admittedly odd wand movement. A diagonally upwards slash, followed by a circling flick to the right and down, through the original slash, before closing off curling up, as if you were about to complete a circle, only stopping just before the circle was completed.
Fuelled with this knowledge, Edwin waited until his father returned from work in the evening. Without having even greeted the man, Edwin quickly moved over to him just as he stepped into the house. "Show me the blindfolding spell." He demanded.
For some unknown reason, Edwin had a charm with his parents that his brothers seemed to lack. His demanding demeanour would have likely earned any of his siblings a telling off, however, unsurprisingly his father enthusiastically nodded and escorted Edwin up into his study.
"Drag the target out of the cupboard for me, Edwin." The man said, slipping his wand from his pocket. Edwin, with a slightly reluctant sigh, did as was asked from him, and dragged an old target dummy out from the cupboard, setting it in the middle of the study, across from his father who stood ready.
"Why do you even want to know this? I remember your brothers learning this in their second years. His father began, before suddenly slashing his wand up and around. "Obscuro! A jet of red shot from the Westbridges wand, a blindfold suddenly wrapping itself tightly over the dummies eye level.
"The spells we're currently learning are boring," Edwin drawled in response, moving closer to unwrap the blindfold.
Without so much as a thank you, Edwin departed the study, certain that he understood the spell now that he had been given a demonstration.

Upon returning to Hogwarts, Edwin was quick to find himself an emptied DADA classroom. Similar to when he had mastered the disarming spell, he cleared himself an empty space in the middle of the room, a target doll stood opposite him.
He allowed himself a single deep breath, ensuring he was completely calm before he attempted to cast the spell. He rose his wand, before eventually calling out a single word. "Obscuro!" He slashed his wand through the motion, a single jet of red light being shot from the tip of his wand. Within an instance, a blindfold closed itself around the dummies eye level.

Spell - Tongue-Tying Curse
Incantation - Mimblewimble | MIM-bull-wim-bull
Wand movement -
The second spell that needed to be learnt from his list was the tongue-tying curse, perhaps an even more useful spell than the blindfolding one. If he were to duel anyone around his age, and he removed their ability to speak, how could they cast spells? A blindfolded enemy could still land a spell by pure chance, but he doubted many at Hogwarts were capable of non-verbal magic.
His father had been helpful with helping him to understand the blindfolding spell, but this time he would do it alone. As you couldn't really truly demonstrate this curse on a dummy, and he figured there was a non-zero chance that his father would chose him as the demonstration target, whilst it wouldn't hurt, it simply was not something he could be bothered to deal with.
However, whilst home he did still make the most of the library, combing through book after book until he found an adequate description of the spell. An odd incantation, Mimblewimble, almost funny to say. Admittedly, quite difficult to pronounce, MIM-bull-wim-bull, and so Edwin spent a considerable amount of time repeating the word to himself throughout the holiday. The spells wand movement was equally strange, sort of a left facing crescent or half-circle within another circle. Given the complexity of the spells wand movement, he spent more time over the holiday than he would care to admit tracing the shape with his finger. He'd trace it across tabletops whilst waiting for dinner, scribble the shape into the corners of parchment sheets whilst he considered starting homework.
Upon returning to Hogwarts these repetitions were proved to have been a good use of his time. Whilst his fathers target dummy lacked any kind of tongue, he knew for a fact the school taught this spell in second year, and so surely would have target dummies that had something resembling a tongue, after all, why would they want students slinging spells at one another in classes, if easily avoided?
As he had done twice before, Edwin found himself an abounded DADA classroom, clearing the centre of the room, save for himself and a target dummy that stood opposite him. The dummies jaw was opened wide, giving Edwin a view of the false tongue that rested inside it. After the briefest moments hesitation, he rose his wand, pointing it at the dummy.
"Mimblewimble!" He cried, his wand curling in a circle, before clashing a crescent through that circle. Just as had happened before, a burst of blue light shot from his wand, directly into the dummies chest. For a moment, Edwin had assumed nothing had happened, however as he closed the distance between himself and the dummy, its tongue revealed itself to have been tied.
