Thank you for your charming Christmas gift. You’ve always had a knack for cooking that I could never hope to match, even when it comes to little snacks like these. You said this would keep for a few months but I don’t think it will last even 24 hours with my current appetite. It is always so nice to receive your handmade food, which is always better than even the finest standard fare because I know it is made with love.

You asked me if I ever have “little craft projects” at Durmstrang. Perhaps it’s not very little, but I do have something of a project right now. I’ve gotten into blacksmithing. I hope that you will enjoy this little pocket knife I made you on the forge at the institute. May it serve you in a thousand little ways when I can’t be there to provide such a service. Watch out – it’s sharper than a dragon’s claw.
