A Quiet Breakfast (Open to all)
Eden looked at all the food set out on the tables. There people who were in the Great Hall already digging into their food, talking in groups. Laughter floated through the air, breaking through the quiet that she was use to. Having yet to make any friends, Eden found a place to sit near some food that seemed appealing at the Hufflepuff table. After she put a few things on her plate, she looked around at the other students. They seemed to be enjoying their morning with their friends.
With a sigh, Eden started eating her bacon. She wished she had remembered to bring her book down with her like usual. It helped pass the time and easy the loneliness of eating alone. Going from a small town where everyone knew everyone, being around strangers made her anxious. Her mother always told her that she was too shy for her own good. She also thought that going to Hogwarts would help her open up to people. The few owls her mother had sent so far asked if she was making friends and Eden felt bad for lying. It would only make her mother worry and probably ask if she wanted to go home. Eden was here to learn about the magic she had inherited from her father's side of the family. Her grandparents were so excited when she had received her Hogwarts letter, so excited that Eden didn't want to spoil the moment by asking if she should go or not. But, here she was.

A Quiet Breakfast (Open to all)
Lucian walked herself to breakfast after yet another restless nights sleep, rubbing her stormy eyes and squinting as sleep blurred her vision. It was obvious everyone else was at least slightly as sleepy as she was; she'd never heard the Great Hall with such a hush over it. Finding a spot at the Gryffindor table with her back to one of the large fireplaces, Lucian poured herself a steaming mug of hot coffee, sipping it black while she pulled out her journal. She'd been journalling much more as of late, trying to write everything down so as that to not forget a thing that happened to her this year. It all had the opportunity of being important.
Spreading a thick layer of jam on an English Muffin, Lucian bit deep into her breakfast while she pulled out a quill and ink out of her crossbody. Opening the thick, leather bound journal, she skimmed over her past few entries, rereading the one she had begun about her and a boy she had met a few nights ago.
Her heart fluttered, a feeling she slightly despised, slightly loved, and shook her head. She'd never been one to fawn over boys, and never would be. Her father had always told her that love was trouble, and that it wasn't right to get caught up in love until you meet someone who has the equal ambition you do.
She often times wondered if this was in reference to her mother, who had lost her already fragile state of mind after her father began to commit more and more of his life to his work.
No.
Lucian told herself, returning to he journal. Reminiscing on the past never solved anything; it just made it harder to breathe.
