Hufflepuff vs Slytherin: Match 4
These Slytherins really seemed to have it in for him. As soon, as Julian had stood up, another spell was already headed his way. He tried to twist out of the way, but he wasn't fast enough, and he still got a solid blow in his shoulder. He retaliated by casting his own knockback at Matthew and was, fortunately (or unfortunately) more successful.
You'd think that years of duelling would've desensitised him to knocking people out, but the relative age disparity made him squirm a little as he watched Matthew been taken away. It made him feel like a bully.

Blindfolding Archer was clearly the right choice for the badgers as they succeeded in the first part of their quest to take him out as quickly as possible. Julian and Hades continued with the use of the Knockback Jinx. Their targeting was on point, though it didn’t need to be. Archer was none-the-wiser to where any of his opponents' spells would come from. The only thing the snake could focus on was the darkness he’d been subjected to. Both jinxes struck him with ease. Instead of replicating their destructive round against Draven, Jake chose to sacrifice damage. Still blinded, Archer would feel the breeze pick up until he was blasted by it, constricting his movements. As the snake finally removed his blindfold, Jessamine watched the boy who was still standing. Three direct hits and even though he was clearly wobbly, he wasn’t down yet. That was impressive.

Hufflepuff vs Slytherin: Match 4

Banner by prat pass
Archer never saw his opponents cast but distinctly he heard the incantations across the room, and for the first time today a cold chill crept up his spine.
Like a sitting duck he stood, though soon enough he was not on his feet any longer. First came the two flipendos, and although he attempted to locate the direction auditorily it was with no avail as both knockbacks struck him easily. Already accustomed with the spell after its overusage both from himself, his teammates, and the Hufflepuffs, he was starting to grown numb to its incantation and consequences, which was how a Ventus took him by surprise. When a breeze towards his form, then still supine, his movements grew constricted by the tempest. But all of that could wait until he's on the same level with his opponents again.
After two hits that threw him back the trembling in his arm and throbbing in his muscles told him with certainty that soon he would be joining Draven and Matthew, but a deep-rooted drive, perhaps the intrepidly stubborn determination of his mother, pushed back against even the thought of forfeiting. Standing, although on wobbly legs, there must have been a reason that he outlasted all of them, but this time, things were not ending with him on his back. One hand pressing hard against his chest where the wind must have been knocked out of him the other reached for the blindfold.
With deceptive gentleness he peeled off the blindfold and with much more force threw it onto the floor of the piste, one booted foot purposefully grinding down on the obscuring cloth as he adjusted his stance with heavy breaths. Rolling his shoulders as Archer tried to ignore the aching in his side and back he could now see each opponent with utmost clarity, and reflecting of his eyes, an immense, redirected hatred that demanded a way out. Julian, Jake, Hades, but they might as well have been three faceless practice dummies. Since the beginning of the duel -- since December -- had been an ongoing effort of stifling emotion that burnt in a destructive fire known all too well.

Hufflepuff vs Slytherin: Match 4
ALL of their spells connected, one by one, and Jake's stomach twisted with guilt. Three against one blindfolded boy, younger than the lot of them, and he was participating all the same. He knew that it was a game, but it was a game that hurt, and even though he knew that Archer wanted to keep fighting, he still felt awful. At first, it had been a little bit ok...after all, they had managed to get some good hits in. But now? Now he was just waiting for it to end....He didn't know whether he should keep casting or stop. If he kept going, he could be hurting a boy much younger than he was. If he stopped, he could be insulting the boy, not taking him seriously enough. In the heat of the moment, he kept the duel going, because no forfeit came....but he was feeling more and more like he was doing the wrong thing. Victory was just within their grasp...but victory didn't feel very sweet today.

The fact that they were three to try to win the duel against one person, could be seen as an unfair advantage, being the Hufflepuffs who were in a situation of more experience, but he seemed not to take it into account, seemingly indifferent as he prepared his next move. He felt they were getting closer to the victory.
In this round, he wanted to take the certainty of taking the offensive, using the Flipendo. Not without seeing that Julian was ahead, having started it and then Jake. He could see how the effects were impacting more and more. Hades pointed his wand at in the direction of Archer, just as the other was removing the blindfold and cast the spell.
It hit him. Clean and well executed. The badger smiled, feeling the victory getting closer.

Julian had to admit that, as far as tactics went, blindfolding a single younger opponent maybe wasn't his favourite. Mostly because the thing that inevitably followed was having to pelt the young snake with spells, and it felt a wee bit unsporting to gang up like that on someone who could not do much to dodge or defend themselves. That was partly why, Julian found himself picking the Knockback Jinx once again so that if they hit Archer, the worst he'd be left with was bruising.
It did little to mitigate the twinge of his conscience so he had to remind himself that this was a duel, and there was no kindness in prolonging the inevitable.

The inevitable had finally made its way to the duelling club, but Jessamine was surprised at how long Archer had held on. He was a thorn in the badger’s side as they continued to focus all their power in putting him down. From the beginning of the match, Jake and Julian agonized over the moral quandary that they’d found themselves in, but that didn’t stop them from aiming a tough spell at the snake. Perhaps it was Jake’s worry that caused his wand arm to fall out of alignment, sending his Knockback Jinx towards Hades. As the only one of the badgers who could not care less about the situation, Hades was totally focused. He smoothly avoided Jake’s rogue spell and landed the first hit on Archer. Julian was not far behind, his own Knockback Jinx riding the advantage of the wind blast and slamming right into the snake. Archer hoped he could take at least one badger down with him, but his aim just couldn’t win over Julian’s quick feet. The snake collapsed without a final strike.
“Well, there it is,” Jessamine breathed, shrugging her shoulder towards the crowd. She saved any catty comments for herself and thrust a hand out to the badgers. “Let’s hear it for the Hufflepuffs!”
