Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 3

Blindfolded, he was hearing all sorts of things he didnt want to hear. Not only did his spell completely missed, but his reliance on his teammates failed again when he expected the other to help him out. See, this is what happens when you rely on someone. Disappointment follows. Frankly, he couldn’t even get too mad at Mahlioz- or even get too upset at being beaten with 2 flipendos. Not even fully sure where it came from.
But hearing Ara spell out her own flipendo only to have it flickered back to her - was the one that really got to him. He merely winced, from the impact of flipendos, turning towards ara (or at least he thought it was ara but ended up being Mahlioz) with a sigh. Not that he looked angry or anything. Hard to tell when he had a blindfold on still. If anything it was just evident exhaustion.
“ Villa - if you’re going to get ko-ed, I certainly hope it's from another wand and not your own. Save yourself the embarrassment” he said to Mahlioz- thinking they were Ara.

[quote]
The second round of spells was definitely more telling in who was winning. All three Gryffindors hit their targets, and none of the Slytherins did. Ara’s spell backfired on her, Hana was hit by two spells after not even taking off the blindfold around his eyes, and Mahlioz didn’t cast anything. Rose glanced at her teammates with a smile. She knew not to get too cocky, since anything could happen in a duel, but she was feeling pretty good regardless. The redhead reminded herself to keep her guard up.

The tide of the duel had shifted strongly in one direction last round, and now the Slytherins were forced onto the defensive. The Gryffindors needed to push further, not letting the Slytherins catch their breath. Ara was still stunned by the wind jinx, and not steady on his feet. The Gryffindors saw their chance, and Ara had to swerve out of the way before it was too late. He managed to dodge one spell whizzing in his direction, a flipendo from Kim. But he could NOT avoid a cracker jinx sent by Rose, the explosions of which were so powerful that ALL of the Slytherins would feel the singe. Hanako was vulnerable as well, with a blindfold on, and spells came flying in his direction too. AJ's wind jinx had proven so effective on Ara that he sent one at Hanako as well, and while Hanako managed to get the blindfold off, it was too late - he was blown by the gust of wind.
Mahlioz got back in the fight, trying to sway things back in their direction sending a flipendo towards AJ. But alas, the Gryffindor was able to get out of the way. The momentum was fully theirs, and Jake knew what that felt like in a duel. The Slytherins NEEDED to regroup if they wanted to bring things back in their favor. But Ara...wasn't looking too good from what Jake could tell. The boy had taken a lot of damage this fight, and if he was to fall? That would be devastating for the Slytherin team. But now with Hanako back with vision, and Mahlioz recovered from her momentary freeze, the duel was not lost yet. This was the Slytherins chance to try to turn this around. Jake watched closely to see if they'd be able.

Rose pointed her wand at Ara. “Nec Divinos Crepitus!” she said, and the spell shot from her wand with power that even surprised her a little. The cracker jinx was a trickier spell, and she was glad her practice paid off. It hit Ara, and the blast even seemed to hit both of the other Slytherins. She forced herself not to wince as it hit Mahlioz, but the redhead knew that the kid was tough enough to take it. Kim missed as Hanako pulled off his blindfold, but AJ’s wind jinx hit Hanako, not allowing him a break.

He was getting his groove back, slowly but surely. Rose was also proving her skill with a Cracker Jinx so strong that even AJ had to shield his eyes a bit. He wondered for a moment why the two of them had never spoken, there was likely a lot she could teach him about spellcasting and duelling strategy.
Their younger teammate was not fairing quite as well. Not that they were casting badly or even inaccurately, just that the opponent they were aiming for still had some fancy footwork left in them. Regardless AJ could see the frustration building somewhat, and felt inclined to offer some calming words. "Hee noo, jes' breeth. Dunnae lut et ge' t'ye.""Hey now, just breathe. Don't let it get to you."

—date. [ 02/08/25 ]———hair color. [white]———height. [5'10"]———outfit. [clothes]——————------------------------ Kim couldn't help but think Hana looked really good with a blindfold wrapped around his eyes. Not that he would ever say those thoughts out loud. The duelist's lips twitched into what could have almost been a smile as Hana addressed Mahlioz, thinking they were Ara. Cute. But he had to agree with Hana, it was one thing to lose a battle but it was worse if you took yourself out, or if your own teammates ended up taking you out. For now, Kim had to focus on his own team. Even though they were in a good place and had all of the advantages at the moment, that didn't mean the badgers couldn't turn things around. After all, the lineup was still 3 vs 3 and Ara was stubbornly hanging on. Out of all of the badgers, Kim had to admit, he was the most impressed with Ara. She had a lot of talent and skill and she would definitely go far in the dueling world if she kept at it. He wondered if she wanted to become a professional or if she was only doing this during her school years. He'd have to ask her about it later on. Rose's Cracker Jinx went perfectly and actually ended up hitting every one of her opponents on the opposite side. It was a beautiful cast and Kim almost clapped his hands for her, before remembering he was in the duel too. Yet still, Ara managed to hang on by a smidgeon. She was like a honey badger, a cute little thing but one that could also be ferocious too... Kim's own Knockback Jinx, aimed at Ara failed to hit its mark by just a dot once more. Ah, how frustrating was it to come so close but just miss at the very end. AJ perfectly hit Hana with a Ventus while Mahlioz failed to hit AJ at the same time. The Lions were really doing well now. Hopefully, they could keep it up and take out everyone this round. Hah, like that would ever happen. But still, one could always dream. Kim hoped they could end the match before all 10 rounds were over because dragging it on wasn't nice for the other side. When it became obvious one side wouldn't be able to win, it was better for them to forfeit rather than continue. He'd even had that experience... It hadn't been a nice feeling but better than if it had been drawn out, that was for sure. Kim looked over at AJ as the boy spoke to him in Scottish and made a face. He'd picked up some Scottish from Colin over the years and knew what he'd said to him but it still didn't make him feel better. "Mm. I'll be better when I can hit again..." Kim said, heaving a sigh. From the shadows Kibō hissed but didn't make a move to come out onto the dueling piste. For now, he simply watched what was going on out there with glowing gem-like eyes. It was almost as if the serpent could sense Kim's growing frustration at being unable to hit his targets, at least one of them. It was annoying to him. tag. It was obvious that the duel had swayed in Gryffindor's direction. They had taken control swiftly, and now that they had it, the Slytherins were stuck on the defensive. Jake knew that duels could turn around...he had seen it happen...but he also knew that the chances when the tides had turned like this? They were very low indeed.
Ara for one looked like he was barely standing...Hanako looked worn down too...and the Gryffindors? They'd been barely touched. They raised their wand, ready to continue the attack. It maybe shouldn't have come as a surprise then, what happened next. Jake saw it on their faces before it happened. The realization that this duel had slipped out of control....that there was no coming back from it, and continuing to fight was just going to lead to unconsciousness.
And then, they gave up.
It took bravery to do that, Jake knew. It was hard to admit when victory had slipped out of reach. But they knew what was coming, and they knew that there was no other choice. Jake understood...why stand there as targets, taking explosions and other nasty spells, when there was just no chance of victory? The Gryffindors had dueled amazingly, and though the Slytherins were also a great team, sometimes it just wasn't your day.
Jake nodded at them in respect and raised his hands up. "The Slytherins have forfeited, and so Gryffindor is the winners!". He looked around, wondering how everybody would take that. Some of the audience would be disappointed to not get to see the explosive ending. But Jake was happy privately that they had given up before they were forced to. It was nice to have a duel end with everybody still on their feet, and nobody lying in a heap on the platform...
Slytherin forfeits, Gryffindor wins!
