Opal strode into the library, looking for a place to study for her next DADA quiz. Her eyes so happened to land on a small table in the corner. She wandered over and set her bag down. Having found a table, Opal went into the seemingly endless maze of bookshelves, searching for the perfect study helper.

At last, she found The Dark Forces: A Guide To Self-Protection. Opal continuously started picking up books, whether it be for light reading or studying. Finally, she felt she had enough. So, she went back to her small table to begin her research.

After an hour of research and taking notes, Opal eventually got a bit bored. This was extremely unusual, as she rarely got bored in the library. But, she was in the situation, so she needed to solve it, like the intelligent Ravenclaw she was. She got out her quills and extra parchment. Opal returned to the large "maze of intelligence that was commonly known as the library", and found Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit, Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland, and From Egg to Inferno: a Dragon-Keeper's Guide. She then returned to her table and wrote a few casual essays about dragons, since they were her favorite magical species. Finally, she finished her fourth piece of parchment when she heard footsteps coming towards her.

The sun was shining brightly outside, the sky a cheery blue that spoke of summer not quite gone. Birds sang to the heavens, rejoicing in a glorious day. It was the perfect day to be spent outside, either for practicing practical charms or simply enjoying the sun with a few friends.

Carra had to watch this wonderful day from inside. She had put off studying for History of Magic far too long, and she had a paper that needed to be written yesterday. So there she was, heading towards the dusty library. Take any cloudy and wet day and she wouldn't have batted an eye about going to the library, but today was just a day that begged to be spent way from stale books and things that happened long ago. Today was a day to live in the now. And yet Carra would be studying the past.

Trudging into the library Carra heard the muffled coughs of students deep within the bowels of the library accompanied by the rough swish of pages being turned. So vast it was practically a maze, Carra had no clue where to begin looking for the books she needed. Her History of Magic book was tucked safely within her bag, but where to begin looking for books for her paper? She was to write about the Goblin Rebellions and she had no clue where to begin.

Wandering through the musty shelves Carra was unable to locate any of the librarians to help her in her quest for information. All of the other students she passed seemed to be deep in thought or buried within the books they were reading. So Carra wandered, hoping to find someone who might be able to point her in the right direction.

Turning a corner, Carra noticed a girl sitting on her own with piles of books surrounding her, she didn't seem to be looking at any of them at that moment though. Deciding to take a chance rather than waste one more moment Carra approached the girl. She was a Ravenclaw and looked to be about Carra's age. With long brown hair neatly tucked behind her ears, she was in a much better state than Carra generally was.

Stepping up to the table the girl sat at, Carra grinned as the girl looked up meeting the soft blue-eyed gaze with her own flashing green-eyed gaze.

"Sorry ta bother ya, but I've been wanderin' around tryin' ta find someone who migh' be able ta help me, yer the first I've come across who didn' look like they'd mind much if I talked ta them," Carra began, words running together as she spoke much like she moved, quickly and without hesitation, "even if ya could just point meh in the right direction, I'd be most grateful!"

Opal looked up at the Hufflepuff who now stood beside her. She gave a small smile, then nodded. "Sure! I'd be glad ta help." Opal took out a spare piece of parchment, a quill, and a bottle of ink. She drew a complex map of the library, complete with the names of aisles. Opal handed the Hufflepuff the map, smiling.
"This should help."
She smiled kindly at the Hufflepuff's astonished face. "Wot, haven't ya e'er heard o' getting ahead?" Opal grinned at the Hufflepuff. "I think you made a good choice of finding somebody to help ya out." She took a moment to take in the girl's blond hair, pretty green eyes, and a strong attitude. Opal quickly made a mental note to not mess with this girl, seeing as Opal has always been extremely unphysical, especially compared to most other girls. Opal cocked an eyebrow, slightly confused as to why the girl hadn't left yet.
Why hasn't she left yet... It's not like I'm the most social person in the world here, go talk to a Gryffindor for that! Oh... I bet she wants to be friends, so she can cheat on my homework. It's not happening again! Besides, nothing is interesting about me... I'm just the portable dictionary, no purpose, no nothing.
Inquiring that the Hufflepuff intended to stick around, Opal extended her hand.
"I'm Opal Ivory, by the way."
