Avery raced with her broom in hand and a box of Quidditch balls in the other towards the training pitch. She knew she had been spending a lot more time there lately, but she just really wanted to be alone sometimes. She also wanted to get better at Quidditch if she was going to be any good when she hopefully joined the team as a Seeker.

Once Avery had finally gotten onto the pitch, she was happy to find that it was empty. She would finally not have to worry about running into anyone as she chased the snitch. That would be very embarrassing. Especially since she did have a tendency to run into someone or something whenever she was not paying attention.

Once she had opened the box and let the snitch begin to fly, she mounted her broom and pushed off. Rising into the air. Avery glanced around as a small golden ball fluttered nearby. She raced towards it. Taking special care to stay away from the walls of the pitch. She had learned her lesson. No near running into walls this time.

Avery chased the little ball as it raced around the entire pitch. Not even checking to see if anyone else was there to practice. Only one thought racing through her mind. Get. The. Snitch.

It was a blissful morning indeed. The weather as pleasant as could be. The skies screaming at me to soar across them.

It wasn't a difficult thing to decide, hardly anything worth deciding at all. I am to fly today.

A calming way for me is to take rounds, play a make pretend game or pull some pranks on players training at the Training Pitch. I am going to do just that.

With a broad smile, hearty steps, and a tune humming in the tip of my tongue, I sprinted down to the pitch. My broom on my shoulders gave me this sense of silly pride, on how I was a part of the team now, which was and would always be one of the best "dream come true" moments for me. I had my team cloak on, given that the wind does get a bit chilly up there.

No sooner had I stepped a foot inside, a sudden instinct kicked in, as I jumped back a step and a kid zapped past.

"Merlin's beard." I curse under my breath as I walk back into the field, which is as empty as it usually is at such early hours, and watch a kid chasing the glint of gold.

"A seeker, huh?" I smirk, curiously eyeing the kid. "Well, wouldn't be bad to help her out, would it?"

I mount my ride and shoot across the field. I may have 99 problems, but a snitch definitely ain't one.
OOC Note: I usually am a little late too.
Pardon me being this late to post. Have a lot going on here.

Avery heard someone behind her. She glanced back and saw an older girl in Quidditch robes following her. Avery didn't know what to do. She had never practiced with an actual Quidditch player before. A smile slowly crept across her face. This was going to be fun.

Avery turned her attention back toward the little golden ball flying through the air. She caught a glimpse of it. A little shimmering golden ball that always fluttered out of sight and out of reach. That little ball was her goal to catch that day. She didn't even know if the other girl was still behind her. All she knew was that she had to get that ball. No matter what. Even if it meant her crashing onto the ground and breaking her leg again. Well, maybe not breaking her leg.

Avery zoomed past obstacles as she chased the snitch. She made sure to pay careful attention to where the walls were around the Quidditch Pitch. She didn't want to crash again. That would not be a great idea nor very fun to deal with.

Avery wanted to glance back and wave to the older girl, but she also wanted to focus on the snitch. She couldn't risk losing it again when she had just found it.

Seems like the kid finally knows I am here.

I kept my broom steady, wondering when will be the right time to zap past her, but its fun seeing her fasten her speed upon noticing me. Super cute...!

Upon seeing her maneuver quite skillfully 'round the pitch, I was feeling a little left out.

"Hmm...hardplay or softplay for this kitten?" I smile, and kick up my speed. "Let's go soft."

Looping around her playfully, I shot her a smile as I travelled right under her broom.

"Later kid"
, I nod and cross her, reaching out to the snitch, but of-course, it is still a frenzy-lil-piece-of-

As presumed, it slipped past my fingertips and started swooping in and out of the stands and soon head for the seating area.

"Bugger" I curse as I swiftly skid past the seats to catch the snitch. Only later did I notice my speed went down quite drastically by the seating area, thus leaving a huge gap between me and the blob of gold.

Well, no wonder being a seeker ain't that easy in the first place. "Chaser" suits me far better. Not noticing the kid, I tried fixing my speed. I need to get that bugger at any cost now. It truly is pissing me off unnecessarily.

Avery was shocked when the girl looped around her broom and shot off. She had never seen a play like that before. She knew she had to ask about it. It looked like a fun move! Avery watched as the girl attempted to catch the snitch. Gryffindor colors flying. That girl was lucky. Avery couldn't wait to fly through the sky with those same colors. Pridefully showing off her house and her team.

But, for now, it is time to get that snitch.

Avery watched as the girl missed the snitch. That was her chance. She went low and zoomed past the girl. Too low to catch the snitch for now, but still in good position. Or so Avery thought. She didn't know what could happen. She knew that the older girl had a lot of tricks up her sleeve. She had only been teasing with the loop. She had to play things smart and decide what her next tactic would be for getting the snitch.

Avery smiled. This was the most fun she had chasing the snitch. Actually chasing it with someone else is a lot better than chasing it alone. It allowed Avery to now know what it was like to catch the snitch with someone else around her.

Haha! The kid is up again, huh?

While the snitch was driving me crazy, the kid was fueling my competitive fire—there was no way I was going to lose!

I shot upward, gaining a bird’s-eye view of the pitch. The tiny golden speck flickered below, and I could tell it was about to change direction. My eyes locked onto it, calculating its movement and positioning myself perfectly for the trick.

The moment the snitch darted beneath me, I executed the spiral dive.

Like a bolt of lightning, I plummeted toward my target, cutting through the air with precision. Just before impact, I intercepted the snitch and yanked myself upward, barely avoiding a brutal crash into the stands.

The kid had kept a safe distance—good.

Once I steadied myself in the air, I glanced over and grinned. It was too soon to end the match. And where’s the fun in that?

With a smirk, I opened my hand and let the snitch go.

This time, I’d give her the head start.
OOC note: Chill girl. Many are late quite often. Let's just have fun!

Avery was shocked as she watched the girl do a perfect spiral dive and catch the snitch as she barely avoided smashing into the stands. She had no idea how the older girl had done that. Avery really needed to get some tips and work on her tricks in the air.

Then the girl looked at Avery and smiled. Her fingers opening and allowing the little golden ball to flutter out. The competition had begun again. A smile crept across Avery's face slowly. Even though she had lost the first time, she wasn't going to let that stop her. She was going to get that ball this time no matter what. Even if it meant she crashed again like the first time she had ever attempted to get that little ball.

Avery zoomed forward. Breathing in the fresh and clear wind that danced across her face as she chased the snitch. This was the most fun that she had had in a while. Maybe this would be an even more fun practice than she had expected at first. She finally had a challenge.

Avery continued chasing the snitch as she noticed the girl waiting. She was most likely giving Avery a head start. Good. Avery knew that she was no where near good enough to be a Quidditch player. She wasn't even on the team yet, but she would hopefully be someday.

It’s been about ten minutes, and of course, the kid has gotten a solid head start. The winds are in our favor, and the grounds remain deserted—just the two of us. The whole thing screams mischief mode, and honestly, I’d love to tease the kid a little.

Problem is, I’m running out of ideas.

My eyes stayed locked on her as a sudden realization struck me—I never got her name, did I?

Hah. Silly me.

Without wasting another second, I shot across the field like a bull charging toward a red silhouette in the distance. From her perspective, it might look terrifying, and well... wasn't that the point?

As soon as I caught up, I swooped low beneath her.

"Hey, kid! I was wondering..."
I shifted my stance, pulling my broom just high enough to hover over her head. "I never caught your name."

I waited, nodding as she answered.

"Well, thanks for letting me know," I said with a grin. "Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll just go ahead and catch the Snitch."

Teasing her, I surged forward, knowing full well I’d distracted her long enough for her to lose track of it. I had a general idea of where it was—getting to it would be easy.

Or so I thought.

A quick glance around told me I might have lost track of it too. Damn.

I smirked and called out, "Hey, kid! Wanna know my name?"

I barely waited for her response before adding, "Well, you’d better catch up to me first!"

Now, let’s aim for the gold, shall we?

Avery was surprised to find the older girl hovering near her head. Asking for her name. "Avery." Avery responded with a sly smile on her face. She knew that she had just lost sight of the snitch, but it was fine. She knew she could find that little fluttering ball soon and finally snatch it. She was determined, and nothing was going to get in her way and stop her.

Avery laughed a little when the girl said she would have to catch up to figure out her name. "Sounds like a challenge! I'm in!" Avery called out to the older girl. Determined to find the little fluttering ball of gold.

Suddenly, after a few minutes of searching, Avery found it. A small fluttering ball not too far from her. Avery nearly dived after it, but then she realized something. The only way she would be able to get the little golden ball was to distract the older girl. Otherwise, she had no chance.

Avery suddenly shot in the opposite direction that she had seen the snitch. Acting as if she was hot on the chase. She hoped the older girl would fall for the trick, but she wasn't sure. The girl was a Quidditch player. Avery wasn't. At least, not yet.

The last time I saw the Snitch, it had been hovering near the stands. I debated whether I should drop lower, weaving through the wooden benches, when Avery suddenly shot off toward the stone walls.

"That’s definitely not..."

Ah... a distraction, is it? But then again, is it really a bluff?

Curiosity got the better of me. The kid had successfully drawn me away from the rickety seating area, forcing me back up to an eagle’s vantage point over the field.

But the speck of gold? Completely out of sight.

I had no choice but to re-scan the field. There was nothing in the direction Avery had darted toward, yet I couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t just a trick.

You know what? Screw it.

I swept my gaze across the pitch. The Snitch had moved—but where? A flicker of gold caught my eye, and there it was, hovering near the goalposts, almost on the other side of the field. And Avery? She definitely didn’t have the speed to reach it in time—not after lingering on her bluff for too long.

I surged toward the goalpost.

But the Snitch had other plans.

The moment I closed in, it veered sharply, darting toward the stone walls.

Without losing momentum, I pivoted. A strange shift settled over me—a match-like focus creeping in, my usual grin fading into an expression of quiet determination. Ugh, a poker face? I hate that.

The Snitch was within reach now.

But in that split second, I forgot one crucial thing—there was still another player on the field.
