Sinclair's lips curled as she shook her head, "Nah, not joining. I'm just curious." She walked closer, the creak of old wooden floorboards under her shoes, until she was by the area they'd all jumped in. All the splashing made it harder to see whatever was shimmering below the water's surface, but she could spot the little twinkle of something under there. Her brows knitted in thought, then on a whim decided she will join after all. She just wants to at least see it. Sinclair takes off her scarf, vest, and shoes, and slips into the water. She left her shirt and pants on even if it added weight, simply because she doesn't find it appealing to be that bare in front of people she barely knew. The water is chilly and causes her body shiver, but she refrains from too much movement, not liking to cause a ruckus. Not putting to mind whatever the others may be doing, she concentrates on finding instead.

It is quiet underwater, save from the muffled sounds of whatever may be going on above. She eventually found what seemed to be the point of interest for this group. A little shimmering... something. Something that looked like it had been there for years. It wasn't a diamond for sure. How ridiculously unlikely would it be to see a diamond this big just at the bottom of the lake?
Sinclair wasn't particularly good at swimming, so she did not swim any deeper than 7 feet. She held her breath and remined still and observant in the water to get a better idea of what this object was. It looks like some kind of debris. It wasn't too long before she broke the surface of the water, finding herself slightly out of breath. "Hm," she huffed, pushing her wet hair back.

The short-haired girl politely declined, insisting it was curiosity that led her to the docks. Addie shrugged her shoulders, maybe she would change her mind. A smile crept onto Adeline's face as Thaniel asked for her name- she was making friends! "It's Adeline, but you guys can call me Addie." She turned away from the dark haired girl to face the other three students. Taking strides towards the edge of the dock, Addie felt excitement well up in her chest followed by an outburst of laughter at Sebastian's initial shock upon entering the lake. The boys laughed amongst themselves for a moment, before Thaniel's attention returned to the girl's on the dock. "Can you guys see it up there?" Thaniel called out to them. Addie looked down at the boys from the docks edge, a grin spreading over her lips. 'The only thing I have a vantage point on are two weirdos, and a dead fish." Adeline laughed once more.

Like a whisper, the dark haired girl slipped into the water, appearing to barely even notice the cold. She must see it! The excitement pumped adrenaline through Adeline, making it easier to take the plunge. She lowered herself onto the edge of the dock, her ankles submerged in the lake below. Just then, the girl returned to the surface, stumped.

Just as Addie was about to enter the water, an idea struck her. "Does anyone here know the wand lighting charm, Lumos?!" She asked, excitedly. I'm pretty sure you cannot cast it under the water, but maybe if we do it just above the surface we can get a better view!" The girl beamed at her sudden stroke of genius.

Biting back more screams as he slowly, SLOWLY, descended into the ice cold water, Sebastian threw a glare at Thaniel and his taunts. He could handle it– A wave of fresh cold water splashed up and hit him on his chest and he gasped loudly again. Okay, barely. With another gasp, he lowered himself so he had nothing but his head above the surface. His breathing immediately grew laboured. It felt like every part of his body shriveled up(it better not be permanent!). Fuck, it was cold!

Thaniel challenged him to dive down and try to pick it up, the diamond or whatever it was, and Sebastian's reply came out strained. “Let me adjust for a second!” Dipping his head felt like a difficult feat right now. Too focused on not dying, he didn’t register, nor did he care that Jam and one of the other girls was laughing about the two weirdos(them) and a dead guppy-- Wait, fish?! Sebastian's eyes widened in disgust when he noticed the very dead fish bobbing on the waves not too far away from him. It was too close, and he hadn’t even noticed it until now.

Now he screamed for real, panickingly scrambling back to the ladder. “Euw- Euw- Euw!” Fuck the diamond, there was a fucking dead fish in there! Probably filled with fucking maggots or some other parasites. The thought made him want to puke.

When he got up on the dock, he was met with an even colder wind than the water. Not to mention he was soaked. And he had no towel, because obviously, he hadn’t planned on swimming. It would have been easily solved with a drying spell, he reckoned, but guess who was still a first year that didn’t even know the Lumos charm? You guess it: Sebastian Drake.

“N-No, that’s in the next class,” Seb huttered, debating on whether to dry himself with his expensive italian linen shirt or not. But that would totally ruin the fabric!

She narrowed her eyes subtly at the other boy's frantic display of... dislike towards the fish. Sinclair tilted her head and swam over to him. She noted that he was very pretty, but mixed with her disinterest in boys and her opinion of how he acted, she only labelled him as slightly annoying. Didn't she see him around at the Gryffindor common room from time to time? She was a little familiar with his face but did not know anything beyond that.

Sinclair picked up the fish by digging her finger into the gill, its body limp and stiff from the cold water, "It's just a dead fish, it's not going to hurt you or anything. If it bothers you that much..." she tosses it further away, aiming towards a shallow area where it would eventually wash up to shore to dry and rot. She rinses her finger in the water properly. "Lumos could possibly work if you cast it first, then brought your wand underwater, but I haven't mastered it yet. I did think about the green sparks charm, but I doubt it would work underwater. If it's of any interest to you three, it looked like some piece of debris, covered in algae."

Thaniel laughed at Sebastian's failed attempt at braving the cold water. "Oh, come on! It's only a fish!" He could tell the dark-haired girl was not impressed by Sebastian's response to the decaying trout; knowing someone was actually DISinterested in Sebastian made Thaniel smirk a little. That smirk quickly turned when his face twisted in disgust as the girl slipped her fingers inside the fish's rotting gills and began to move it.

"Oh well, I mean I wasn't gonna go and do all that, but you do you. Very brave. Not at all disgusting," he said, moving his head up and down and back and forth in complete disbelief, his face still clearly reading disgust.

Did she really just do that? he thought in judgement.

Thaniel moved his eyes back to Sebastian, who was contemplating whether or not to dry himself with his fancy linen shirt. He smirked again at how much of a pretty boy he turned out to be after sporting so much confidence at both the kissing party and when he arrived today. He was so suave yet so delicate.

"You can use my shirt to dry. I wouldn't want you wiping dead fish on that pretty linen shirt of yours." Thaniel felt more confident than before. Maybe he did find him beautiful and a little intimidating, but he also felt comfortable knowing that Sebastian was actually really soft under all that beauty he possessed. "Either way, you should probably cover up. White isn't the best choice of swimwear."

The dark-haired girl turned her attention back to the mystery item under the water after moving the fish. Talk turned to strategy as they contemplated how to light the pitch black depths of the water beneath them.

"You still haven't told us your name," he reminded the girl, fearing she might be called 'fish girl' if Thaniel didn't figure out what to call her. "And if none of us know Lumos, we'll just have to feel around in the dark. We have to be careful not to muddy it up down there, though. If the water gets cloudy, it'll be even harder to see."

This is basically my entire IRL in a sentence: "The only thing I have a vantage point on are two weirdos and a dead fish."

Also, I'm sorry for the delay. Yesterday was Fat Tuesday, which is really busy where I live and today I had a million errands to run.

Sinclair simply shrugs casually at the comment about the disgusting fish, but remains quiet. I didn't do it because I wanted to be brave, rather the Gryffindor boy was being ridiculously dramatic about it, and it gave me mental damage to hear him squeal about a dead fish. There are much more disgusting things. She internally rolls her eyes.

The water is cold but is not as bad as when she initially slipped in. Sinclair grips onto the dock of the boathouse, clinging on to reserve her energy. Who knows, she may need to dive again. 10 feet is a lot. I'm not sure I can make it even with a bit of rest.

She watches the interaction between the two boys. Is he... interested in him or something? Her light hazel eyes flit between the two, but her expression remains unreadably neutral. Her lips curled at the second statement, "You never asked," she raises her brow, her tone sincere and neutral, "I'm Sinclair Carver, pleasure to meet you. And you three are...?" She currently wasn't entirely interested in befriending these three, but it was only customary to exchange names when prompted, was it not?

The girl Addie would soon know as Sinclair was unusual in the best of ways. The young Ravenclaw felt a bit of harmless jealousy at the Gryffindor girl's calm, cool, and collected aura, until she picked up the fish, which oddly enough caused her to feel even more envious. She was maybe even cooler now. Adeline smiled down at her as she unceremoniously tossed the fish, earning metaphorical raised eyebrows from the boys.

Sebastian stood behind her, chilled, dripping wet, and clearly holding Thaniel's attention. As much as the shaggy haired Slytherin did his best to avoid staring, the subtle tension between the two was apparent to Addie. Not wanting him to dirty his clothes, Thaniel offered the Sebastian his shirt to dry off, a kind gesture. Thaniel seemed to be good company, and Sebastian and his friend seemed like fun. Adeline hoped this wouldn't be the only time she would see them.

Upon learning Sinclair's name, Adeline quickly chimes in. "That's a beautiful name... You can call me Adeline or Addie, whichever sticks." Sinclair had mentioned previously that she could see whatever it was down there... if only something could propel one of them downward. Just like before, another idea struck the young girl.

"Say, maybe someone could reach the bottom if someone stood on their shoulders and pushed them down." Growing up on the coast meant diving for deep shells, and as a small child Addie and her friends had used this same method for reaching the sea floor countless times. "I promise it works! I can do it, or one of you can?" From her spot on the deck, Adeline looked between the students hopefully.

It wasn’t just only a fish, Sebastian thought bitterly, glaring at both of them. “Do you know how many parasites fish have?” There were probably some crazy dangerous magical parasites that neither of them had ever heard of. They were in a magical lake– or at least that’s what he assumed, perhaps dumbly, considering they were in a magical school. Against Sebastian's better knowledge, the lake was just a lake; The fish was probably just a fish. Still, with all that being said; if that wasn’t a reason to be disgusted, he didn’t know what was. Yet, one of the girls picked it up by the gills and tossed it like it was no big deal. Sebastian watched it fly through the air in disgusted awe, then he glanced back at the girl, gaping. That girl was not normal, that was for certain. He couldn’t believe she just did that, without even pulling a muscle.

“Yuck,” Jameela said. See! At least someone with a normal reaction.

At least there were some good things with this lot; Thaniel offered his shirt as a towel for him to dry himself, which he accepted gratefully. “Thanks!” Sebastian beamed, picking up the gray shirt— admittedly nothing special compared to his fashion, but it was super nice of him— from the dock and rubbing his face and hair in it, before moving on to other body parts. Then he heard his next words and paused, face still in the shirt, processing the meaning behind them.

Did he mean his white underwear was revealing too much and plenty… or was he telling him to cover up because he’s embarrassing himself? “Are you saying there’s not much to look at?” Sebastian was dumbstruck. Was he insulting him? There was no way! Sebastian looked equally as good without clothes, as he did in them– if not better!

The fish girl, Sinclair, introduced herself, and so did the other girl he also didn’t know the name of until she said it: Adeline. Both of them were pretty names– Too pretty to be associated with dead fish. “I’m Sebastian,” he chimed in, even if no one had asked. The rest of them continued to discuss how to get the shit up from the slums, and he was content with letting them do that without him.

Sinclair nods at Adeline with a polite smile as thanks, then at Sebastian as he introduces himself. She just downright ignores the other girl's "yuck", uninterested. It's not like she introduced herself anyway. She wonders about the last boy, but is distracted by what Sebastian had said to him earlier.

She raises a brow at Sebastian, "You're like what, 11? 12? Of course there's not much to look at. Don't worry about that, you'll grow," Sinclair points out in a matter-of-fact manner. She assumes he means it literally, rather than because of his alluring veela features, which somehow start to annoy her the longer he speaks. It was like seeing something enchantingly beautiful, but when it speaks it says somewhat unflattering things, thus creating a very odd contrast which soils her impression of him. He's like a pretty little prince that has never experienced a day's work of physical labour. Or doesn't know that his meat comes from dead animals. Am I too harsh? Eh. Her eyes observe the boy's clothes- or lack thereof. Whether she's judging him or simply making an observation is uncertain. "And.. I'm fine with being pushed down by Adeline if none of you are up for it. I'd rather you do it," she turns to face Adeline with a crooked smile, "since you've got experience. What do you say?" Sinclair appreciates that at least someone was actually coming up with ideas and putting themselves out there.

Thaniel was a bit awe struck by Adeline's bravery and her experience with diving. Thaniel always loved swimming, so anyone who loved the water as much as he did piqued his interest. "That's actually a really awesome idea. I don't mind helping with that. Or perhaps Sinclair could give us both a push and we can try to find it together."

His excitement grew as the two girls seemed equally as interested in getting this lake garbage in their hands as he was. He glanced back at Sebastian, a bit let down that he wasn't going to help them. He watched as the attractive boy used his shirt as his makeshift towel and raised an eyebrow in concern when Sebastian blotted his pits dry with it. He better not wipe his ass on my shirt... he thought.

"Are you saying there's not much to look at?" Sebastian asked, clearly feeling a bit insulted.

"Sorry, no. That's not... That's not what I meant." Thaniel explained, his face turning red with embarrassment. "I was just... erm. Nevermind." He turned back to the water, wiping his wet hair out of his face.

"So are we getting this thing or what?"
