The duel was starting to slow down, the toll of casting spells and taking hits had finally fell onto the duellists on the piste, exhaustion creeping up… or at least, that is what Raizel thought based on her experience. The mind gets tired just as much as the body in duels like this and they usually show whenever a duellist misses their target just as what had happened to Maisie’s spell although Emily being aware of her being the weakest and the more likely to be targeted must’ve contributed to that miss. If one knew they would be the prime target, they would definitely keep an eye out of their surroundings, prepared for anything coming their way. And that is exactly what happened to her. A spell went for her but she was ready.

Not liking the storm cloud looming over them, Tracey had decided to drive the storm cloud away, casting the counter charm for it. They had already lost one of their duellists and in a bad situation, she can’t have her failure add more to it. The risk of getting hit by lighting had disappeared. But while she was doing that, Costanza used the time to send out a Flipendo, taking advantage of Tracey’s distracted state. It was a clean hit. Minnie wanted to do that as well, inflicting damage to their opponent. Her target was Maisie but whatever spell she was trying to cast, nothing happened. Not a spark on her wand nor a light. That was a total failure.

Emily had to admit, she much preferred evading and defending than it came to being an aggressor on the piste. Especially when it meant two things; one, her wand wasn't going to screw her over with poor spell-casting and two, she wasn't getting hit and sent into the stratosphere from another Flipendo or two.

Fatigue still lingered in her body, her legs feeling like lead as she shifted across the piste to avoid the spells that came her way. She couldn't keep this up for much longer.

The question was, what the hay was she supposed to do next?

Slow, too slow…

Not like Raizel could blame the duellists at this point for a slow round. They are exhausted, energy spent on casting, aiming and dodging, actions that takes a lot out of you not just in physical terms but in mental terms but still, this Gryffindor was used to the fast paced Broom Racing that duelling just had become too slow for her. She still loves the sports though. Not once did the thought of trying it again, signing up and taking a spot in the duelling team once more had never crossed her mind whenever she sat in a quiet corner, letting her mind wander. A part of her is still left in it.

To say that nothing exciting happened in this round though was wrong because something did happen aside from the missed spells from Costanza, Minnie and Maisie. Emily, who had focused on the defense last time, had gone for an offensive tactic. The tip of her wand lit up as she cast a Knockback Jinx, aiming for the already weakened Tracey who, from the looks of her stance, was preparing for the spells coming for her. She did well to avoid the one aimed by Costanza, the spell not even grazing her but she couldn’t say the same for Emily’s. It was a close one, just a bit more extra movement, she would’ve dodged that but who knows what happened at the last second. Did she get tired? Maybe she slipped? Whatever happened, that small mistake is what took her out.

“That’s another one from Ravenclaw…” Raizel uttered as she raised her hand, prompting the duellists to stop their attacks for a bit just so they could carry Tracey off the piste and into the hospital wing. “Oh, this situation looks familiar.” The sight of Maisie being the last one standing while the other side were still a full team is triggering a lot of memories from her first official duel. It was a tough battle, unwinnable but perhaps Maisie can pull this off better than her. “Continue.”

Yes. Yes! YES!

Finally! The wand did its job and landed a successful hit on the opposing team! Emily could've done her Snoopy happy dance right then and there on the piste. She was that pleased. And that took-- Nearly until she was on the brink of getting knocked out herself before it finally happened!

But poor Tracey. Emily flashed an apologetic look to her as she was carted off to the Hospital Wing. Getting knocked back like that and out of the contest wasn't fun. Emily should know, having lived and breathed that same situation before in her last match.

And then there was one. Good on for Maisie to last this long! But at the same time, she was now in another familiar situation Emily was in before; being one to take on all three of her opponents alone. With a nod of good faith to Maisie, the match continued.

Emily knew she was still hanging on by a shoe-string thread, being the weakest out of the badgers in terms of energy. She knew she didn't have long left but so long as she could still hold a wand and stand upright, she would assist her team as much as she could before she'd collapse.

She heard the upbeat commentary and shouts of support from Colin and Avery, who were still bouncing up and down in the spectator seats. A few of Colin's teasing one-liners reached Emily's ears. Some she smiled sheepishly at. Others, she could've swatted him.

She limbered and loosened herself up. If she could keep this train of success going a bit longer, she might at the very least win back some dignity.
