Week Two Open

To say the first week of the school year was hectic was an understatement. Maximus imagined that with time perhaps it would get easier. However for the young first year student it had been a bit of a nightmare to say the least. While he had been instructed briefly by his family on what to expect when arriving at Hogwarts it still turned out to be an overwhelming experience for the young boy. For someone such as he, he who's mind wandered frequently, it had been difficult to grow accustomed to the sprawling floors and corridors that made up the castle. Maximus swore that every time he went to a location he had visited the day previously that the layout had entirely changed, a trick of the eyes perhaps or simply a result of not truly knowing the lay of the land yet. Then again, maybe it was just magic.

He had shown up late to his first few lessons, though he had not been the only one who had a seemingly awful sense of direction thankfully during those times. The first weekend had been a blessing to the lad as it granted him time to tour the castle and the vast school grounds at his own pace without having to rush back and forth to get to a class on time. This suited Maximus much more for him. Given his nature he would often find himself getting side tracked by whatever new thing he discovered every other moment. Hogwarts had left him in a constant state of awe during his first week, and even the first half of the second week if he were to tell the truth.

Now the second week had come to a close with the weekend rolling around. The Sunday morning granted Maximus free reign once more to explore at his own leisure. It was an activity he had taken to with much enthusiasm, leaving the Hufflepuff common room early in the morning and having spent the majority of the day rushing around the castle as if there was some sort of emergency. Now as the afternoon rolled around he found himself outside of the castle once more, exploring the castle grounds and taking in the views that the scenery had to offer.

The young boy sat on the grass now, taking a break from his adventure and allowing himself to catch his breath for a moment. His energy reserves were not infinite despite what it seemed at times, and even he needed to slow down the pace once in awhile. Though it was unlikely the boy would stay still for long he had to admit that sometimes it was a good change of pace to simply sit back and relax.
