“It’s nice to meet you, Lemon,” the girl said, talking Lemon's outstretched hand and shaking it gracefully. “If you’d like. I don’t mind. Lemon is a unique name. I haven’t heard of any other Lemon’s here.” That was certainly true. They doubted whether there were even many other 'Lemon's in the country. She smiled at them before she continued. “Oh, and I’m a second-year Slytherin." That would explain why they hadn't seen Kaitlyn before in any of their classes.
Kaitlyn began to play with one of her pigtails. “If you don’t mind me asking, Lemon… were you doing anything important before this? Sorry, I know that comes off as me being nosy. You don’t have to answer. It’s just …” She lowered her voice. "When that happens, especially unexpectedly, it can stain your clothes."
What were they doing before this? It had been pushed out of their mind completely. "I was at the library," they answered, trying to remember. "I like the library. It's quiet and the rows and rows of books feel like the walls of a fortress." My fortress, they thought. I'm always safe there. Realising they'd gotten distracted again, Lemon interrupted their thoughts and continued. "I was just going to go back to my dorm before dinner."

“Ah, the library. I love going there; it’s so peaceful,” Kaitlyn said. “And a wealth of information, as well." Lemon was glad she understood. They'd described it so... personally. It would have been awkward if she hadn't understood. The girl continued the conversation. “Out of the classes here that you’re taking … are any of them your favorite?”
Lemon thought for a moment. There were so many. Of course, History of Magic is nobody's favourite, from Lemon's point of view. "I think... Charms." They said decidedly. They knew that they were at least somewhat good at the subject: they had gotten 3 'outstanding's and 2 'exceeds expectations' on their assignments. And their Charms professor was definitely one of their favourite teachers: she was so fun and lively, qualities that Lemon admires in a person.
" I also quite like Potions," they added. "And flying and transfiguration and astronomy and... I guess I just like them all." They laughed. "Not so much History of Magic, though. But that usually goes without saying." They hoped Kaitlyn didn't like History of Magic too much, or that she'd be offended by their words. "I mean," they continued, trying to make sure that they didn't offend her. "It's just not for me, you know?"
