2024/25, Stage 2 Gryffindor V Ravenclaw: Match 8

12:30 on Saturday 8th February, 2025...

The duel had suddenly taken a quick turn, what seemed to be getting duller as the time passed by, sparked once again. It was as if both sides were aware of the same thing; One of the teams were at the end of their rope. It was quite clear which one it was as the raven now stood there, one woman down.

Their attempt to push forward with all their might resulted in some serious actions from both sides of the piste. The ravens from one side decided to continue their onslaught of vicious spells at the second year Gryffindor, Ula. The girl who had been already suffering with an year's worth of snot was now shot at with fire from Avis Marlong, who looked only a few breaths away from fainting. Fortunately for her, she wasn't on fire yet much to her opposition's dismay.

Gryffs too chose to attack as a united front as they all seemingly targeted their attacks at the wandless girl called Yolanda Yates. Who managed to skillfully dodge Meiyu Xiang's incendio but was dealt with much worse pain when two flipendos from Ula Takahasi and Edwin caught her vulnerable. The girl was sent flying, her previously unharmed self now looking worse for wear.

Previously feeling egotistical with the success of her spells during earlier rounds, Meiyu was now met with a new hurdle where her targets would successfully dodge anything she threw their way. Huffing discontentedly at the lack of luck she began to face with the climax of the match being in arms reach, she used her dominant hand, gripped with her wand, to swat away the few flying strands of her burgundy hair.

The two ravens appearing rugged with the offensive spells that continued to come their way, fortunately leading the lions to a much anticipated victory for her first match of the season, leaving Meiyu diverting her gaze between the two remaining victims with her lips curving ever so slightly with victory so close in sight.

Yet again, Edwin cast a quick knockback jinx, this time aiming for the bald Ravenclaw. Whilst the jinx had hit its mark, and Edwin had briefly hoped it would mark for a second knockout in the duel, especially given the older Gryffindor had also landed her spell. However, much to Edwin's dismay, the girl remained standing.

Victory having been so close for so many rounds was growing to be rather annoying, but Edwin had to press on, once again glancing between the two remaining opponents, readjusting his grip around his wand.

The quiet before the storm came to an end for Ula as another damn spell came flying her way. The flames grazed her just enough so she could smell the faint scent of burnt eyelashes. Annoying sure—but not nearly as satisfying as watching the Ravenclaws crumble before her eyes. She could barely bring herself to care when she was the one landing a hit. Her Flipendo, almost perfectly timed alongside the boy's, sent Aang flying like a ragdoll. Ula's smirk grew as it became apparent by everyone, that the Air Nomads were from now on fighting a battle they've already lost.

12:30 on Saturday 8th February, 2025...

LETSGOOOOO!! was all Prat would say if he could voice his thoughts now, the slow moving duel was now at the beginning of it's end. One raven was already down and now it looked as if another was gonna go down too. Both the sides seemed hell bent on dealing as much damage as possible, the amount of debuffs thrown so far in this duel was somehow so minimal even Prat was surprised.

Avis, who looked battered and beat down as hell attempted to set Ula on fire, the girl who was still coated in snot, however the snot seemed to be getting less and less now. Atleast it was enough to the point she was easily able to dodge. Leaving the young ravenclaw open for a flipendo from the gryffs side. A strong flipendo straight from Edwin sent the girl flying, only to not get back up again.

Yolanda, her partner was still scrambling to get back her wand with no success until she finally managed to find her wand and grab it. Seeing her vulnerable, Meiyu Xiang attempted to set her on fire, only to fail her cast so miserably she burned herself

Is this what they called Karma?

"STOP !!" Prat shouted, pausing the game to get Avis out of the game and back towards the hospital wing.

So far, most things turned out unexpected for Meiyu's first match as a duellist. For one, she did not expect the match to last this long, idealising that the lions would quickly ridden the vermin that portrayed themselves as ravens; who put up a good fight thus far. Yet, of all things, she refused to accept another failed cast, her expression shifting into displeasure as she glanced down at her wand, which refused successfully hit her targets by this point, contrary to her earlier success at the start of the match.

More-so, the shock on her face was unavoidable, as another failed spell resulted in a vast misdirection of her initial target, landing back to herself, inflicting herself with pain — yet, she was fortunate to not be aflame, wincing at the burn which was sure enough to leave a mark should she not seek aid from the Hospital Wing. Scoffing once more, a prevalent habit she'd quickly developed during her time at the castle, she readied herself to finally conclude the match, growing mostly bored with the lack of movement from the opposing team.

A second Ravenclaw falling to Edwin's flipendo did his ego no favours, any damage that had been done to his confidence in the earlier rounds now nulled. It was hard not to say the duel was all but concluded when the only remaining Ravenclaw was the bald girl who had spent multiple rounds rooted to the ground, seemingly unable to make a move.

However, overconfidence could be disastrous, and Edwin was careful not to let himself get ahead of himself, and so he rose his wand once more.
