Ever since coming to Hogwarts, Amelia had been in awe of the place; it had been less than a week. Amelia was still learning new things about the castle and its system every day. There were vanishing stairs, moving staircases, hidden doors and secret passages all around.

Therefore, it wasn't surprising that five days after arriving, Amelia was lost. She had classes to get to, and she had no idea how. She didn't have any friends with the same schedule yet, so she got lost alone quite often, barely managing to get to classes on time. The result was that she was always out of breath and running around.

She observed her surroundings, trying to find clues that would lead her to Defense Against the Dark Arts class. All of the corridors seemed identical to her— torches, suits of armor, portraits... Portraits! She could ask one of them! She had noticed some tended to be quite talkative, though, sometimes not letting go for hours... Nope, not this time. She'd go on without them.

What floor was it, though? Was it the third? Maybe the fifth? Amelia wasn't familiar yet with all of the places, and now she was here, who knew where. Had it been an Astronomy class, she could have just gone up the stairs until she found it, or just all the way down for Potions. But DADA class? She had no idea where that was.

Amelia leaned on the wall behind her, taking a moment to herself. All of the students around seemed busy. None of them looked like first years heading to their DADA class...

Raya was scrambling down the hall, stopping only briefly to glace at a clock on the wall. She was already going to be late? This is so not like a Ravenclaw....

She swore that the staircases were out to get her, always leading her to random dead ends and looping corridors, and she couldn't seem to find anyone around who was able to help... they were all busy rushing to their own classes at this point.

Raya thought she had figured the place out by now, she spent most of her free periods roaming the castle, and with the help of some other Ravenclaws creating a crude map of the place. But even with the map, it seemed she was always out of sorts with directions, never knowing where she was since everywhere looked the same. Trying the paintings didn't seem to help, although they spoke, and sometimes listened to her, they had no interest in trying to help her find her way to her class. They all seemed far more interested in talking about their own business, or gossiping about they overheard students talking about. She guessed as a painting there wasn't much else they could do.

She knew from her map the DADA class was on the fifth floor, but she didn't even know what floor she was on currently, so that wasn't much help. Luckily, since she was already late, the hallways were far less crowded now, meaning it was easier to take stock of her surroundings and try and figure out where she was. But, flipping through the pages of maps she had (one for each floor of the castle), she still couldn't figure it out.

Suddenly, she spotted another student out of the corner of her eye, she was leaning against the wall to the side, and looked almost defeated, a contrast against the few remaining rushing students who seemed to know where they were going. Cautiously, she approached the girl, she looked like a First Year too, so maybe she was lost as well? "Hi! I'm Raya. Are you lost as well? I can't seem to find the way to my Defense Against the Dark Arts class..."

Amelia's brain took a second to register the fact that someone had talked to her— her mind was somewhere else entirely, thinking of how to get to class, what to eat later on in the day, and other unrelated thoughts.

Raya? Amelia hadn't seen her around much. But, well, there wasn't much to expect— obviously Amelia hadn't had many chances to see her around, considering they'd been here five days so far. The girl seemed fairly young, though. She asked Amelia if she was lost as well, so she must be a first year too. And the fact that the girl was looking for DADA class too confirmed that, indeed, this was the case.

Amelia looked up at her, trying to come up with a reply. The girl— Riley, was it? Gosh, how had Amelia forgotten already?— had pink highlights and brown eyes that were waiting for an answer.

"Oh, yes, I'm lost too." Amelia nodded. After a second, though, she added, "Wait, you're going to Defence Against the Dark Arts as well? Do you know where that is?"

Amelia scanned the corridor again, trying to find something that might help them— like a guiding sign, maybe. Why weren't there signs at Hogwarts? The corridor was fairly empty compared to a few minutes ago, so no helping students were in sight. Oh, they were definitely going to be late. At least she wasn't alone anymore, though.
