Sorting Ceremony
After the boat ride along the black lake and the waiting in the hallway, Elise was starting to feel rather impatient. Can we get a move on with things? I have more to do than just stand around all day. The Sorting Ceremony was finally beginning. She walked with the other newbies through the Great Hall. Some of them looked nervous to the point of crying. Why? she thought to herself. What is there to be scared off? Fear is utterly useless in this instance. One boy behind her looked like he was actually about to break down. Elise rolled her eyes, noticing the star-filled ceiling or the first time. Huh. That's actually rather interesting. Wonder if you could place a telescope here and just do Astronomy in this very hall.
Having finally arrived at the podium in the front of the hall, the lack of food in her belly paired with the long winded explanations of everything thus far were really starting to wear her thin. Elise crossed her arms and started tapping her foot. At least the ceremony shoulnd't take too long for her. It didn't really matter to her anyway. Her whole family gone back generations had been in Slytherin, and from the looks of things so far it did not seem she would be any different. Sure, her sister had been a bit of a hat stall, but everyone else had had their house called immediately. Besides, as long as she avoided the brazen recklessness of Gryffindor things should be fine. Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Hufflepuff... as long as she got a quiet place to study, she didn't care one bit. She came here to learn alchemy anyway.
Finally, her name was called. Elise had been staring up at the ceiling, feeling annoyed. A few faces in the crowd perked up at her name. She knew her sister was around at the Slytherin table somewhere, but hadn't bothered to look for her yet. She didn't want to associate with her sister immediately. That would just be weak.
She walked to the chair in the front, fantasizing about what her dorm room would look like. This was her first time away from home for so long, after all. Only then did she notice all the faces staring at her. She raised her eyebrow. Have you all nothing better to do than stare at me? Gods, you could be working, prepping or even reading at this time, yet you waste all your attention on the random girl sitting in a chair? How simpleminded. Then the Sorting Hat slipped over her head and eyes.
"Brave. Bold, more like it. Self-centered, impatient... you don't like to waste time much, do you, Elizabeth?" Elise puffed air out of her nose, trying to ignore the big hat. "Are you certain you don't want Gryffindor? You would do well there. Not to mention, your school time would likely be less lonely." She scoffed. "No. I don't need friends. I need power. And don't place with those-" "Very well then. Better make it... SLYTHERIN!!"
Elise hopped off the chair, using her arm to make her robe dance behind her. Stupid hat. Was it seriously considering putting me there, with the loudmouths? I wouldn't have been able to focus any time ever if I was surrounded by them. Having reached the Slytherin table, she felt a punch on her shoulder. She shot a glare to the perpetrator, who turned out to be her sister Aoife. She smiled and pulled her in for a hug. Elise just stood still. It was going to be a long evening. She sighed. Ugh. At least there should be food soon.

I knew nothing about hogwarts until i moved into my new house that my ancestor owned because my mother told me all about the interesting bits about hogwarts. Then after some time the day came and a letter with their logo on it came posted by owl down the old chimney. I didn't now what to think of the letter before opening it because i was very nervous.
I couldn't get myself to open the letter due to my nerves so i asked my mother to open the letter for me and read it out loud to help me understand what they have said or wanted of me. After that i had to start thinking of what i had to pack before the time finally came to wisk me of to buy my stuff and accommendate a room at the ministry of magic which in fairness my mother helped pay for but not with magic because what is magic and how will i be able to learn it soon.
the day came and someone from hogwarts was asking for me to follow him. They was leading me all over london until i got near the train station. Then it struck me because their was loads of others doing the same thing and i hopped to be one of many to get inside hogwarts for the first time to make my mother proud.
Everyone boarded the train to hogwarts called the hogwarts express. I met some boy for the first time on the train that wanted to become one of my friends whilst enjoying our time at hogwarts. After the train ride and socializing with my friends we met a goofy sort of funny man with a beard and wearing a old type of longish brown overcoat. I don't see much of him now but he told everyone to get on the big paddle boats and the staff from hogwarts took us to the castle entrance where we had to climb 200 stairs i think but i lost count as i got near to the entrance gate doors. We were greeted by a awefuly scary looking man who took us on a tour of the place before ending the tour in the great hall where we had to line up and wear this old type of bent hat that came to life and read our minds.
This is how i came to being put in hufflepuff for my first year of hogwarts and sat at my groups table to have my first welcoming feast. Then went on my way finally to my common room to rest befor the fun begins.

Rosalina Crowe stood in the Great Hall, her hands clasped tightly in front of her as she waited for her name to be called. Her heart pounded in her chest, her hazel eyes darting around the vast room. The enchanted ceiling above shimmered like the night sky, and the four long tables bustled with older students whispering and watching. The Sorting Hat rested on the stool at the front, looking worn yet somehow wise.
She had spent the entire train ride wondering where she would end up. Surely, she was a Hufflepuff. She had always been kind, always valued fairness and hard work. She had no great ambitions like a Slytherin, no thirst for adventure like a Gryffindor, and while she loved learning, she had never considered herself exceptionally clever. Hufflepuff felt right—it was safe, warm, a place where she knew she would belong.
“Crowe, Rosalina.”
Her stomach dropped. With hesitant steps, she made her way to the stool, swallowing down her anxiety as the Sorting Hat was placed over her head, nearly covering her glasses.
"Ah," a voice hummed in her ear.
Rosalina gasped. The hat was talking! No one had told her it would do that.
“A curious mind indeed,” the Hat mused. “You are kind, yes, and you value fairness. But I see something else… a thirst for knowledge, an insatiable curiosity… You don’t just accept things—you need to understand them. Oh yes, quite the mind you have.”
Rosalina bit her lip. “But… I thought I’d be in Hufflepuff,” she whispered in her head, though she wasn’t sure if the Hat could hear her.
“Oh, you would do well there,” the Hat agreed. “But I see something more suited to you. You do not just want to learn, you want to uncover, to puzzle out the world’s mysteries. You thrive on understanding. No, I believe your place is clear…”
A pause. Then, the Sorting Hat proclaimed: “Ravenclaw!”
The word echoed across the hall, and for a moment, Rosalina sat frozen. Ravenclaw? That wasn’t what she had expected, but… something about it felt right. A house for the curious, for those who loved to question and explore. Her lips slowly curled into a smile as excitement bubbled in her chest.
She slid off the stool, the Sorting Hat lifted from her head as she made her way toward her new house. The Ravenclaw table erupted into applause, welcoming her with cheerful claps on the back and warm smiles. As she sat down, pride swelled within her. Maybe she hadn’t seen herself as a Ravenclaw before, but now that she was here, she couldn’t imagine belonging anywhere else.

When the doors swung open Ashley couldn't believe her eyes. Everything looked like a dream. The long wooden tables, the candles floating in the air, even the roof looked spectacular. Though she did question how the managed to make it look like the sky. One by one the students were sorted by the sorting hat. As soon as they called her name she could feel a nervous lump in her throat. Her heart raced faster then it had before as she made her way to the seat of wich the hat sat. The hat gets placed on her head and gives her a little spook just as it started speaking. "Ahhhhh an interesting one. You've the mind of a scholar and the bravery of a lion. But where to put you." Ashely focused her mind trying to encourage the hat to put her in ravenclaw. The house she had her eye on since she got to the train station. "Ravenclaw eh." The hat heard her pleas. "You would make a fine student. But your bravery would be put on stage in griffindor. Hmmmmmmmm. Better be.......RAVENCLAW!" The Ravenclaw table cheered and banged they're hands on the table in celebration. She sat with her fellow Ravenclaws and enjoyed the feast once the ceremony was over. Afterwards her and the rest of the ravenclaws were brought to the ravenclaw tower.

Zvezda stood with the other first years through the enchanted hat's song, but she wasn't paying attention to it. Her attention was on the headmaster, for a time. It wasn't common, from what Zvezda had seen in Diagon Alley, for mages of Western Europe to wear armor. Most preferred gaudy robes that stole the glances of every passerby.
It wasn't rare to find armored mages in Russia. Zvezda's family, for example, had been born in the glory of a troll-slaying great-grandfather, so every member of the family had his or her own set of magical armor when they came of age. Was the headmaster a former Durmstrang student? She wondered as much, or if he was at least closer to a Durmstrang alumnus in mentality.
Before Zvezda could dwell upon the relief even such a baseless assumption had had upon homesickness she hadn't even acknowledged, the sorting ceremony began. The Morozov name had been a blessing in many ways. In Russia, there were still those who celebrated the feats and accomplishments of Zvezda's ancestors, but right now the benefit offered by her name was the blessing of being in the middle of the pack. She could watch a number of other students being sorted before facing it herself.
When she did, at last, hear her name, Zvezda raised her head high and squared her shoulders. She reached the stool and took her seat. She paid the other students no heed. She intended to simply sit in silence while the hat did the work, and her focus on the enchanting ceiling above was a testament to those intentions.
The hat's voice cut through her intentions like a hot knife through butter.
You don't belong here, do you? the hat said. It wasn't a question. Not really. Even Zvezda, with her secondhand knowledge of English, could recognize as much.
Zvezda didn't respond. She considered shushing the hat, if only in an attempt to keep the affairs of her own mind private from the other students.
Secrecy and cunning get on well together, I'd say. And you have no shortage of ambition, the hat mused.
Zvezda heard the word ambition and her mind replayed the song she'd only half-listened to. Ambition and cunning... that was Slytherin, yes? Slytherins uses any means to achieve their ends, if she recalled. If there was a place for a hopeful Durmstrang student in this coddled school, Slytherin house would be it. She would prove herself, and prove her mastery over...
But isn't a thirst for knowledge born of ambition still a thirst of knowledge? You'd do quite well in Slytherin, but perhaps Ravenclaw... the hat continued to think aloud.
Zvezda felt like all the blood in her body froze. Unnaturally stiff in her seat, her knuckles turned white as they gripped her school robes with great intensity.
She almost argued. Almost demanded a place in Slytherin. But as she thought about it, wasn't a desire to learn what she needed too? A house where questions would be celebrated and learning and improvement would be encouraged wholeheartedly was a perfect place for her to master magic in a way that would make her parents regret sending her away. Cunning and ambition could be as simple as a knife in the back of someone else. Wit and learning, though? Those were valuable. She would carry all that she learned for a lifetime.
I can see were are in accord, the hat said once more, before the booming Ravenclaw filled the room.
Zvezda stood proudly, her hands clasped neatly behind her back, and walked to the table full of blues and bronzes and fellow Ravenclaw students.

When it was finally time for Christina to walk into the Great Hall, she heard gasps from the students in front of her. She had heard from her father that the Great Hall has an enchanted ceiling, but she didn't expect to hear these reactions from her fellow first years. She walked into the Great Hall and was astounded by what she saw. She saw four, long tables, which must've been the tables for the four houses. Over those tables hovered lots of candles. Next, she looked up, and noticed the ceiling her father told her so much about. It didn't look like a ceiling. Instead, it seemed like there was no ceiling there at all! It looked like the sky above, which was a beautiful sight to see.
Finally, when all the other first years made it inside, the doors behind her closed, and the older man in front of the room started speaking. "I am Solomon Lear, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry", he spoke with a loud voice, before introducing the Sorting Ceremony. When the Headmaster was done speaking, the sorting hat started singing. When it was done singing, Christina heard other students applauding the hat, so she decided to follow.
Christina already knew how the ceremony would go, so she wasn't very anxious. Her parents didn't have certain expectations for her either, accepting any house she would get into. Personally, she hoped for Gryffindor, since it was the house of her father. However, she thought Hufflepuff suited her as well.
Many names have been called, and she had been waiting a long time, when suddenly her name was called out: "Christina, Rose!" Confidently, she walked forward and sat down on the stool. Next, the hat was put on her head, and she heard a voice.
"Christina Rose", the hat said. Christina didn't know how to respond to this, so she just responded by greeting the hat. "You are a very adventurous and courageous girl. While you're also clever and loyal, it's obvious you're most suited for.. GRYFFINDOR!". The last part was shouted out loud. It felt like Christina only had to sit down for a few seconds before the hat made its decision, which made her proud, and feel like she really belonged in Gryffindor.
After getting the hat taken off her head, she walked over to the Gryffindor table, where the other students were applauding her. She sat down among her new housemates and wondered who she could befriend. However, before worrying about that, she continued watching the Sorting Ceremony take place. All in due time, Christina.

James arrived at Hogwarts extremely scared that he wouldn’t end up getting any friends no matter what house he was in. Even though all his family members were in Ravenclaw he was sure he would be in Hufflepuff, for he was always made fun of for being too much of a softie by his siblings. As he climbed out of the boat onto the dock he was thinking his situation over and over in his head. Before he knew it he arrived in the entrance hall and immediately felt slightly comfortable the cozy atmosphere was welcoming him into the school the way he wanted. As the students started lining up ready to be sorted, he began thinking that he might enjoy this after all. One by one the names were called out until they reached “Fredrick, James”. James was ready for this, he walked over to the chair and the old hat was placed on his head. “Ah, another Fredrick eh? Well I know that most of your family members were Ravenclaw but… you could be an exception” the sorting hat said. James replied “No! I want to be in Ravenclaw! Please if I’m put in Hufflepuff I’ll be teased! Please! Put me in Ravenclaw!”
“Well… I do suppose you were comforted by the school more than others, and I also see a thirst for knowledge. Yes I can see you in Ravenclaw” The sorting hat said Yes, indeed… well than… RAVENCLAW!” The crowd cheers as James takes off the hat and walks to the Ravenclaw table and sits down.

Rosa almost tripped getting out the boat, breathe just breathe she told herself. It's not as if she'd been dreaming of this moment since she was 6. She stood with the other First Years tand tried to look not worried. Kids around her started chattering and she wanted to join in but was too shy so she bit her tongue. She tried to focus on the other kids getting sorted but was too distracted by the nightmare scenarios her brain had annoyingly started to bombard her with.
"Rosa Dreary" She heard the hat say or had she imagined it? She took to the centre of the stage and immediately felt ill looking at all the faces staring at her. She put the hat on and heard it's voice "Another Dreary hmm yes I suppose it's time...now where to put you..." Both her parents were Ravenclaw but her sister had gone to Slytherin. Rosa briefly wondered whether that even mattered. The has spoke again in her head "Yes an inquisitive mind.. a bit of a virtuoso and fiercely loyal...I think it'll have to be...RAVENCLAW" The Ravenclaw table erupted with cheers and Rosa carefully made her way over there immediately feeling a sense of belonging. A couple older students clapped their hands on her shoulder and she smiled. Yes this seems like a good start, it's a good thing she likes blue.

Kai stood with the other First Years, her hands trembling slightly as she glanced around nervously. She had never seen so many people in her life. Taking deep breaths, she tried to imagine what the Sorting would be like. Hogwarts was glorious and fantastic, and she hoped that she could find people here that would accept her as she was, people she could trust.
"DRAXON, KAI" she jumped as her name was called, and slowly made her way over to the talking hat. It was odd to her, but she put it on her head, holding her breath. "Ah, Draxon...an interesting choice...a bit bitter, eh? But strong and loyal...brave and willing...let me see..." Her eyes were wide as she heard its voice in her ear. She stayed silent, listening as it went on. "Intuitive, and a bit calculating...but not evil...with your bravery and virtue...better be...GRYFFINDOR!" She had read a bit on the train and knew that she wanted to be Gryffindor, so she breathed a small sigh of relief. She had questioned whether she would be Slytherin with all the resentment in her heart, the bitterness in her mind, but she felt the hat made the right choice. She followed the shouts and cheering to the Gryffindor table, smiling as she sat down. Some people clapped her on the back or shoulder, and she tensed, but her smile stayed in place. Maybe she could belong here.

Sorting Ceremony
Noah’s head was spinning. So many different emotions were overwhelming him. With every experience being new, it was a total bombardment. After getting over the initial shock of being claimed as a wizard, to finally boarding a train through a platform that normal people did not even realize was there. Crossing a dark lake at night and looking up at an immense castle, to now being starred at by a room with hundreds did not feel great. To say that Hogwarts was not exactly newly found out wizard friendly to “Muggle-Born’s” as he was called on the train, would be an understatement.
When the group entered the Great Hall Noah’s heart skipped several beats. Candles floated in the air and the ceiling looked exactly like the night sky. He noticed the four long tables and stares from fellow students that have been through this before. Noah hated being the center of attention. It made his stomach swirl in knots. To the point that it actually started hurting. I am I going to throw up in front of all these other kids? I can’t let that be my first impression in front of the school! Noah thought to himself.
His group was lead to the front of the Great Hall. Noah felt as if he was floating. He did not remember walking up to the front with the others, but here he was. Headmaster Lear explained the Sorting hat ceremony and how each student would end up in a different house. Noah did not know what to expect. He was grateful that Headmaster Lear started alphabetically from the top meant that Noah did not have to go first. As students got called up Noah became more familiar with the process, but then realized that while he did not have to go as one of the first kids. He would have to be one of the last. Which is just as bad! His stomach started hurting more as he now waited agonizingly long for his turn to come.
Then, at last, “Wells, Noah!” was called.
Noah’s heart stopped and he coughed a bit. He tried to walk, but was unable. Then as if it were magic itself that propelled him forward Noah found himself at the hat. He climbed up top the stool and looked out across the sea of his peers. He felt the hat being lowered onto his head. It immediately started talking to him.
”There have been many great Muggle-born Wizards Noah.” It said.
Taken aback Noah wasn’t sure how to respond. How did…did it read my thoughts?
“It is in my ability to gleam the thoughts of others in which I am placed upon the head of.” He responded.
“You are searching for a place you belong and Noah you do belong here. I see great potential in you, and blood status will not be an issue.” The hat said.
“Okay.” Noah responded timidly. Noah took a deep breath and tried to calm himself.
“Loyal to your friends and family. Courage to face the unknown, Ambition to prove yourself, and Curious enough to ask questions. You would fit anywhere, but I think the best fit for someone who wants to belong would be Hufflepuff!” The hat announced to the room.
The table of black and yellow clad students erupted in excited cheers! Noah melted at the great reception of everyone as he joined the table.
